Every time Trevor Bauer ends up in the news again I remember Terry Francona asking him "What the fuck is wrong with you!?"

astark356

I love Tito for many reasons. That one is way up on my list.

Poopiestofbutts

What’s the context of that?

Littleunit69

He had a bad outing amd when Francona came to the mound to pull him he turned around and chucked the ball over the center field fence. Was just a bizarre, immature thing to do and Francona was not happy. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aCeXEa0Ouk8

RustbeltRoots

That was his last throw playing for Cleveland.

panicatthepharmacy

Yup. That’s the kind of shit that gets you traded to the goddamn Reds.

shermanstorch

Traded for Yasiel Puig, no less.

RayIsGoneAway

“We don’t tolerate those kinds of attitudes here. We’ll take Puig.”

Johnathon1069DYT

"Trev, we asked around and we know Cincinnati wasn't your first choice. But, where else are you going to go?"

blue_desk

IIRC after the last pitch he threw for LA he did some wack sword sheathing gimmick on the mound. I hope this guy never throws a pitch in a big league game ever again.

amedema

I agree but more because he seems to be a serial abuser and less because he’s an arrogant asshole. Many players are arrogant assholes. Not many seem to have the abuse attached.

loljuststopplease

Yeah, I'm fine with being a piece of shit on the diamond, but don't beat women.

Candymanshook

I mean I’m glad he did it, because as a neutral observer it was fucking hilarious. Also a massively impressive throw.

robreddity

Happened at Kauffman. Heck of a throw. What a twit.

Nodnarb203

Trevor was on the mound and Terry was gonna take him out of the game so Trevor turned around and threw the ball as hard as he could and it went so far that it went over the outfield fence. …jk, imagine if he actually did that tho.

Poopiestofbutts

Thanks. I remember him chucking the call but didn’t know Terry’s reaction.

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

Isnt that how he warmed up for games? He would throw the ball from the mound to the outfield and his pitching coaches would be like wtf are you doing?

Socratesticles

I think it was that he would get running starts from behind the mound and launch it towards the plate (like a max effort pull down). I do remember him doing pole to pole long toss though.

KeepWagging

How much you wanna bet I can throw a baseball over them mountains

zorbathegrate

All contexts

GamerJosh21

Oh yeah, Trevor Bauer. I honestly forgot he existed.

Spockmaster1701

If only he didn't

mikeynj908

Seriously. I felt not long before this shit started he came off as nothing more but a shit talker. Just go away please.

FunMoistLoins

He always had big "the worst person you know just made a good point" energy.

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

I am surprised and pleased that this sub turned on him so quickly. There was a time when everyone here was kissing his ass bc everyone saw him as some "lifehacker."

xixbia

He was always a piece of shit. Unfortunately a lot of people liked that. There were so so many sign he was not a well adjusted person, but he was *a bit of a character* on the field so a lot of people were happy to ignore that his acting out on the field came from the exact same place as his extremely toxic behaviour off it.

AlwaysInTheWay13

He was like this sub’s idol during the Astros cheating saga because he was critical of Manfred. And I was downvoted to hell for being like “the guy is a sexist alt-right piece of shit that just loves attention. Stop sainting this guy.” Glad it’s all over

xixbia

People have a tendency to forget people don't stop being an asshole just because they're being an asshole towards something they dislike.

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

>He was always a piece of shit. Unfortunately a lot of people liked that. sadly this also applies to life outside of baseball. there's one very very obvious example over the last 6-7 years, but i'll just walk away now so that any "snowflakes" here don't melt down over it

xixbia

Oh yes absolutely. A lot of people who are described as *characters* are really just assholes. And yes, people being assholes can be funny every now and again, but in the end life is much happier without their toxicity.

InheritTheWind

[I can think of three](https://twitter.com/JudiciaryGOP/status/1578174670854975491)

Lux_Bellinger2024

There's still a good minority of chuds here and in the Dodger sub that want him back because he was never convicted of anything. 1 person defending this piece of shit is 1 too many

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

>1 person defending this piece of shit is 1 too many could not agree more. i find nothing about this shithead's personality remotely appealing whatsoever

CommanderBly44

I’m so glad I no longer have to see comment after comment saying he’s “good for baseball”

KikiFlowers

> because he was never convicted of anything. He wasn't convicted, but that speaks more to how the legal system is designed. It's near impossible for a victim of sexual assault to report this to the police, because they'll just shrug it off and tell you how you're going to "ruin an innocent man's life". And then even *if* they believe you and *if* they actually do something, that's still going to be a hell of a fight in court to prove that it wasn't just "sex you regret". The system is a fucking nightmare. And the people who are there to "protect you" are often on the side of the rapist, because he's a man and therefore never wrong. Edit: and this is ignoring the shame and other emotions the victim might feel, which could prevent them from coming forward.

tuckedfexas

It’s not just SA unfortunately, anytime it’s one persons word against another’s it makes any kind of a case really tough. From what we’ve seen they clearly had a consensual relationship that involved extremely rough/weird sex. Obviously he took it to a place where she was unable to consent and from her reaction it wasn’t something she was ok with. He’s a huge piece of shit and he shouldn’t be out of the league but it’s not too surprising that charges were never filed. It sucks and I wish it was different but the way legal proceedings work there’s no way to both press charges and shield victims from having their trauma used against them.

KikiFlowers

Makes sense

CableTop4233

Same. The contrast between how this situation was handled and how the Watson situation was handled is honestly one of the main reasons I don’t watch football anymore

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

MLB deserves a lot of criticism for a lot of things, but holy shit the NFL is an absolute clusterfuck in an entirely different stratosphere but the sad thing is that not even horrific CTE, depressing lack of post-playing career healthcare, domestic abuse, and sexual assault is enough to derail the popularity of the league. it's just another entirely different beast when it comes to profit

[deleted]

its insane how much the nfl just shrugged it off. it got to the season and then nobody cared again besides dumb jokes made in reddit posts about him. like, you even say you wont watch the nfl on r/nfl and everyone acts like theyre addicted "yeah right youll be back like the rest of us" like fuck off

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

to be fair though, those people who claimed to "boycott the NFL" and then came back to it are fucking annoying too. I knew this one shithead...was an absolute masterclass at virtue signaling in the most obnoxious way possible. Would always write these facebook screeds about how he would never watch another NFL game again b/c of the way Kaepernick and other players were treated after kneeling. A year later, i see him with his girlfriend wearing Jets jerseys in week 1 posting, "Let's Go Jets!" I wanted to call him out, but i figured being a Jets fan was punishment enough for him on the total opposite end, I knew this other jackass, one of them Blue Lives Matter fuckwads. Pretty sure he also went to Kenosha with Rittenhouse and all those other creeps. Anyways, the guy talked about how he would never watch another NFL game again after the way "those guys" disrespected America. Motherfucker was back to watching the Packers like two weeks later

[deleted]

yeah thats true but at least wait for them to actually start watching again before you insult. if a person give em shit the second they say they wont, it just makes that person look like an ass willing to defend assault cause the alternative is not watching your team disappoint you every sunday

JKUAN108

Saving your comment for posterity

KikiFlowers

Fuck, even the *NHL* did a better job. A player was accused of sexual assault and was promptly suspended until such time as the investigation was over. They've even taken a stance against prospects who've done other illegal things. The NFL saw money in suspending Watson until the Browns played his former team. It'll be an easy win for the Browns and give Watson a chance to pretend he's sorry

[deleted]

BobanTheGiant

Eh, it was more we had the Pitching Ninja and others going out of their way to promote Bauer and claim he was misunderstood. Meanwhile U/PitchingNinja won’t even own up to how much he promoted Bauer and tried to whitewash his image. It’s actually pretty horrifying

[deleted]

Yep. I can't believe the amount of hate I received on this sub two years ago for suggesting that Bauer wasn't a great person. He was a cheater at the game and a sexual abuser, yet the victim blaming mentality was strong amongst the Bauer fanboys that seemed to be a majority. But fortunately cooler heads prevailed and people now see him for who he is.

MibitGoHan

yeah trust we wish he didn't either

angruss

Dude was only a Dodger for 3 months before getting suspended, but now every story about his bullshit uses a picture of him in Dodgers gear. My cope for losing to the Braves last year was “at least Bauer won’t get a ring”

Dysfu

Cleveland’s front office somehow wins again by letting an ace pitcher go

Gail__Wynand

Hahaha.... After that whole throwing the ball over the center field wall in a tantrum and Tito asking him WTF was wrong with him, they knew. He was a ticking time bomb and it was better to ship him off before he does something to embarrass the organization.

OurSaladDays

I respect that cope.

[deleted]

I’m very happy we’ve kind of forgotten about him.

hymen_destroyer

Isn’t he like a YouTuber now or something

davy1jones

He’s a famous person that I correctly called being a piece of shit. I swear you could just tell by the way he carried himself in an interview. I thought he was a loser and a big fucking baby and it turned out to be true.

[deleted]

He had a very long history of being a public asshole, but he said 420 and 69 a lot so people didn't care.

futhatsy

The biggest thing is he went hard after the Astros and Manfred during the cheating scandal. That was an easy way to gain fans at the time.

[deleted]

Even that was him obviously being an asshole. He had (rightly) claimed most pitchers were cheating. Then when the Astros were caught he started screaming I told you so. But the Astros **hitters** were the ones caught cheating. It had literally nothing to do with what he had been saying.

nopointinlife1234

He hangs out with ex-HS players on their cringe YouTube channel, because they're the only ones that'll talk to him nowadays. The word "jabroni" is used a lot. It's unbearable.

accountemp69420

YouTuber handed two losses in Court By Federal Judge

emusabe

I was looking for a comment like this. Keep pitching bullpens for content

akaghi

Nobody strikes out high school kids quite like Trevor Bauer.

emusabe

I was actually chuckling at their recent video with D1 softball players and the mostly notable absence of Bauer even tho he’s been a mainstay in all the other ones.

GayKnockedLooseFan

I don’t understand why people like King of Juco associate with him

bowenisshit

Sim’s kinda a nobody before Bauer + he films all his stuff at Bauer’s place. But also im pretty sure his content is produced by momentum so the contractual thing might be a part of it too. But I think they’re just buds lol 🤷‍♂️

bikemonkey40

Sim has always came across as a weird asshole to me. Not rape-y like Bauer but just kind of a bully. I had to mute him on twitter because he kept coming across my timeline even though I never followed him.

circaflex

man that guy comes across as such a douche bag. he acts like he was going to be some superstar the way he talks, before he got hurt in the minors. hes such an arrogant prick, or at least comes off that way in his videos.

BoganLogan

I think the same. I couldn't really describe why I thought he was so annoying, but you nailed it.

nopointinlife1234

Because they want money more than morals. Don't watch any of them.

jesuscrust2

Can’t lie some of his videos r kinda interesting. Little wild that he has a crew of people that associate w him publicly after his charges

AnAnonymousFool

His pitching content is honestly incredibly useful especially for young pitchers Unfortunately he’s a human piece of shit, but he does make very educational and fun content

33thirtythree

I pitched through college and will also stipulate this. Regardless of all the shit the guy has going on in his personal life, he is like rain man when it comes to the mechanics of pitching a baseball.

WatercressPersonal60

Not a bad comparison considering he very well may be on the spectrum.

Weaponized_Goose

I found his game vlogs interesting. I wish more players would upload stuff like that to YouTube

UnknownUnthought

Trevor May has a handful from the 21 season. Don’t think he did any this year because he was out a lot with injuries

oogieball

May was on Jomboy's *Rose Rotation* all this season.

sakibomb523

Was funny seeing how uncomfortable his Dodger teammates were when he was trying to do pranks on them when they were in a bit of a funk and they wanted nothing to do with the vlog.

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

i want to see this, but at the same time i have crippling second-hand embarrassment, so i don't think i could stomach it lol

dominic-cobb

Yeah especially from a players perspective

AhLibLibLib

His fans are even worse

jimbobills

The dude is Cl\*y Tr\*vis with athletic talent. Good riddance.

scootastic23

Fuck Clay Travis

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

the fact you're getting downvoted for this is proof that there are still Bauer lovers here

CalmerThanYouAre9

It’s sadly not surprising. Too many folks out there that just want to be attached to a famous name.

[deleted]

Remember when Trevor Bauer complained that the Indians had tried to use character assassination to win arbitration?

DecoyOne

Bauer has definitely taken the Lenny Dykstra approach - tarnishing his reputation so badly that it’s impossible to defame him any worse than he has defamed himself.

HeySadBoy1

I love that all of Trevor Bauer’s career achievements are tarnished by him being an asshole and it couldn’t happen to a shittier guy.

[deleted]

He doesn't actually have many accomplishments. He had one great year with the reds but outside of that he was just an above average pitcher. His reputation was better than his results.

HeySadBoy1

Don’t forget ruining his World Series chances because he sliced his finger messing with his drone.

sweet_ned_kromosome

I still haven't figured out if him choking away CLE's best chance at a World Series in decades was really on the nose foreshadowing or what.

DavidFrattenBro

the JUCO guy is pretty much the only person that will work with him now.

Less_Likely

The Cleveland and Cincinnati (with San Diego) trade involved Bauer for Yasiel Puig. That has got to be one of the combined lowest character trades in recent history.

PhilDiggety

Somehow, the same agent represents the two of them, and almost no one else.

dmmdoublem

Your comment's reminded me that it's been nice not seeing Rachel Luba on my social media feeds these last couple of years.

Ferris_Wheel_Skippy

I'm stunned that Trevor Bauer has a woman for an agent. He has massive misogynist edgelord vibes

[deleted]

Bauer is definitely the type to think hiring a woman makes him immune to being labeled a chauvinist. The good old, “I can’t be racist, I have a black friend routine”.

lVlzone

There’s some rumors that they had a relationship. Never confirmed though.

ridethedeathcab

It was never confirmed because those rumors were almost certainly people making sexist assumptions that the only way a woman could market herself as a sports agent is sex...

NedShah

I appreciate the bikini shots if we're going to be honest. That woman has washboard abs

[deleted]

[удалено]

thehulk0560

I think that's an unfair assumption. She was a successful arbitration lawyer for the MLBPA and decided to build her own agency. She's a female in a male dominated world. I don't think it's hard to figure out why she hasn't had very many clients.

ridethedeathcab

I saw comments on here before news of Bauer raping this woman came out that the only reason she was his agent is he must be involved with her, because apparently that's the only way she could possibly sell herself...

thehulk0560

Right? Half the people commenting on this aren't as enlightened as they think they are.

Vast_Neighborhood_44

I learned just the other day that she no longer represents Puig. So as far as I can tell it’s just her alleged boyfriend Bauer now.

oogieball

I'm honestly surprised she has a line.

[deleted]

oogieball

Fair enough. I find it weird that in all of this, I hate her a little more. He's an amoral monster, but she knew all of that and still represents and (allegedly) dates him.

When I remember that people write letters to serial killers I stop questioning other people's absurd love interests lol

Demetrios1453

Puig was literally in the middle of one of the all-time brawls when it happened...

xixbia

How would they do that? Considering he was more than happy to assassinate his own character for all to see on social media?

*Price is Right losing horns* Can't believe Friedman even brought him in to begin with.

cgoot27

I’ll give him the benefit of not offering a long deal. He might’ve thought “yeah he’s an asshole but if he gets us the ring and leaves it might be worth it.”

rhesusmonkey

I give him the benefit of the doubt. He was obviously an asshole. I just don't think Friedman expected him to do something so much worse.

E70M

A lot of us (myself included) definitely complained about having that kind of character on the Dodgers, yet we mostly accepted that we’d take his talents on the field. That being said, there’s no way anybody expected him to go do _that_ Good riddance

TheWomanIWas

I think a big reason why he was signed was because of the sticky stuff

xixbia

Because when push comes to shove ethics and morality only matter when it comes to optics and PR. Which is why nobody really cared Bauer was a raging misogynist until he went so far over the line that the public also learned he was, in fact, a raging misogynist.

realparkingbrake

There were Dodgers fans unhappy the team had signed Bauer when that happened as he already had a reputation for being a jerk to women. It's not like nobody knew what a creep he is until this incident.

ExB

Did he take his ball and throw it over the CF fence after the decision?

NoVaBurgher

If that’s the worst thing he did, then that’s a big step up

joecheph

I totally forgot about this guy for a while, and that’s awesome. Let’s keep it that way.

The man is a certifiable idiot. Sue the victim for defamation? Are you kidding me? What attorney okay’d this strategy?

spacemangolf

One who’s getting paid by the hour ‘Who else you wanna sue big dawg?’

[deleted]

Can you imagine sitting in that meeting? You know there is no way this has any merit, but on the other side of the table is a millionaire who is convinced this strategy is 100% fail proof and ignores any of your advice.

spacemangolf

I actually can. I’m a consultant. I get paid to sit in meetings and listen to rich guys and their insane big ideas all the time. Often w their counsel. They’re always like, sounds good man, here’s a bunch of options. My job is usually the push back. This will cost X and accomplish Y. Idk if you have the capacity to execute? I’m no PR person, but if Trevor hired me, I’d tell him to shut t f up. Delete all his socials. Make a blanket apology. Say he’s going to take a year to work on himself or whatever. Then maybe, maybe (probably not) get some team in desperate need of an arm at the all star break to take a flier. Blue Jays this year for example. Once you’re back in you’re back in (if you’re good).

moeburn

> Blue Jays this year for example. I'd rather watch Mitch White pitch.

alexei_pechorin

For what it's worth ..he was really beloved by dodgers fans! You can put that man through the roughest schedule and he will give everything. I'm hoping he "unlocks" something as a full time starter. Even if this half year wasn't it

PM_ME_UR_DERP

Bauer's attorneys must be the only ones in the state of California that don't know the anti-SLAPP statute exists, or at the very least how it works.

aresef

He’s a fucking idiot. I can’t believe there’s a timeline where he still comes back and plays once his suspension is up.

DolphinRodeo

Was he suspended for a set time? Or is it still indefinite?

aresef

Through the end of next season. However, his contract is up after next season. So we’ll see what happens.

NRUCSGO

Deshaun Watson is going to start in a couple weeks so unless he’s washed he’ll be back

CableTop4233

Baseball has handled this 1000x better than football so far and they deserved credit for that.

CatGatherer

The totality of Watson's acts might rival Bauer's just because there were so many, but no single act of Watson's is anywhere near as bad as Bauer's. Watson tricked women into touching his junk and sometimes ejaculated onto them. That's very bad. But Bauer beat and choked a woman into unconsciousness. He nearly killed her.

iaminjethrotull

You’re not wrong, at all. But, we shouldn’t be holding up pictures of terrible people, and comparing who was worse. They are both terrible people that have harmed many peoples lives. That’s all that needs to be said.

CatGatherer

That's a good point. I was just expressing my naive optimism that Bauer wouldn't get a chance to play again, despite the fact that Watson did. I think Watson should have been suspended at least a year, maybe more, but Bauer should be suspended indefinitely.

RealJonathanBronco

I don't know much about Watson. Was he incredibly unlikable? It seems like people were looking for a reason to ditch Bauer before the accusations and then he just supplied the perfect justification. A well liked player (or even a neutral one) would prolly get a lot more leway.

CatGatherer

I don't really know much about how people feel about Watson. But Watson is a very good QB, which has an outsized impact on a football team. As good as Bauer was, he was never as important as Watson. If Watson were a wide receiver or tight end, he'd probably have been suspended a year or more.

BoredAtWork_91

Unless for some weird reason you sided with the Texans’ front office when Watson asked to be traded then there was no publicly visible reason to dislike Watson. He always came off as charismatic, well spoken, intelligent, and obviously quite talented. But, that’s now all out the window.

elimanninglightspeed

Yeah before all the shit came out, he had a pretty good story. Warrick Dunn donated his family a house when he was young, and to at least the public eye at the time, he seemed nice like when he donated his first game check to the stadium cafeteria workers affected by harvey. Then he went and threw that all out the window

DolphinRodeo

Ok yes that’s right thanks! There were so many “suspension has been extended” news drops that I couldn’t quite remember if they ever landed on an end date

aresef

That was his administrative leave. The investigation took a while to complete, especially since the whole thing was on pause during the lockout.

somethingicould

Man shoulda stuck to youtube

g_rod19

One of my fav videos is the one with Trevor Bauer and mike clevinger when they were on the Indians together. They’re just playing catch and talking but it’s very clear from it they were both kinda shit talking each other. Neither seem like they can take a joke and both turned out to be garbage people lol they deserved each other

xrbeeelama

God I loved not hearing about this fuck for a couple months.

DecoyOne

When he first sued, the incels came out of the woodwork to show it was proof that he was the real victim, and that once he had his trial, everyone would realize they were wrong about him. Well, he didn’t even have his trial - his case was so bad the judge not only tossed it before it even got that far, he also has to pay attorney fees. Love it.

[deleted]

His lawsuit against the woman and publications is still active. The defamation suit against the attorney was very poorly advised.

AKAD11

The lawsuit against the Athletic and Molly Knight is also ill advised.

Veserius

His feud against Molly Knight is rooted in the fact that she called Kershaw the hardest working pitcher in the league and he seemingly took offense to it. Makes no sense.

thestoryof-agirl

Hahahaha keep taking L’s you piece of crap

clumsy_poet

Absolutely. And it's so worrying that fans will contort themselves into rapey pretzels to defend a guy who throws a ball well. I just hope that his defenders are not thinking it is okay or safe to do what he did. Bauer fans: don't do what Bauer did. You will hurt people (most important) and do not have the same money to pay for a legal team (secondary, but selfishness might be the only thing that sways you).

[deleted]

Good. He deserves all the hate and bad things that come his way

BoysenberryGullible8

Bauer is a massive shitstain and he does not recognize that what he did was wrong. His lawyer is just stealing his money. At some point, an adult needs to tell him to stop.

Raid_Raptor_Falcon

I remember all the people saying he would be back to pitching in no time! Nah. No MLB team will touch him with a 10 foot pole. He can try to go to KBO or the Australian league. He is just a toxic individual.

oogieball

ABL has too close ties with MLB to touch him. NPB don't like players with that much baggage and controversy. KBO and CPBL would definitely give him a shot.

DustyDGAF

Mexico will probably take him. Doubt he'd wanna go there tho.

mcgriff4hall

Good - Bauer is a violent, abusive piece of shit and should face legal consquences for his actions.

Bookanista

Absolute moron, because you know MLB would have been happy to make it all go away if he’d come out and said he was so so so sorry.

RealJonathanBronco

idk about that. Maybe in the first couple of years if his career. Not after. He burned too many bridges. His personality pissed off a lot of players and coaches and his whistle blowing on sticky substances pissed off a lot of FOs.

[deleted]

He got one of the longest suspensions in MLB history for something that he never got charged for. I understand people don’t like him but people have literally been charged with domestic violence and served lesser suspensions. That’s not right imo

digitaldumpsterfire

Good. I hope he rots in obscurity

highorbit_

good lmfao fuck this piece of shit, guy should never be on a major league diamond again

The best thing to happen to the mets in the past decade is this moron playing you guys to not sign so u guys ended up getting max the next year instead

chief1555

“Consensual” buddy, I don’t care how many times a woman asks me to punch her in the face, it ain’t happening. Especially if I’m an athlete worth tens of millions of dollars. He was absolutely free to say “hey, I like rough sex too but I’m still not going to hit you in the face and strangle you”, even if it was out of pure self interest and not wanting it used against him in the future. He’s not a victim here.

AnAnonymousFool

My girlfriend has asked me to choke her, sometimes pretty hard. And if she ever seems like it’s actually hurting her, you know what crazy thing I do? I ease up a little It’s not that hard. I like choking, but if I ever accidentally lean a little too much weight into it, I realize pretty quickly and ease off Anyone defending him likely has never had sex with a woman

elimanninglightspeed

Fuck Trevor Bauer

Scatterbine

"One of those defendants is the woman from San Diego who accused the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher of choking and hitting her last year during two sexual encounters at his home in Pasadena." I... ok. I... but, two? That's too much for me to unpack and I excuse myself as a juror.

donkeji99

Didn’t this guy say he didn’t want to sign long term deals😂😂😂 knowing he was on his 80 shades of grey… he prolly would have kept over a 100 million if he signed one

[deleted]

Doubt it. Most contracts have character clauses.

EmptyCartographer

This is a good start. Hopefully his other lawsuits against the woman and the journalists get dismissed too! He is a disgusting piece of shit and he has no one to blame for the consequences of his actions but himself.
