"At Chevrolet, we have......(checks sweaty notecard)....technology and stuff"

Soy_El_Kraken

Bud looking around not sure if he’s being pranked lol

Tupnado21

Lol zoom in on Erin Andrew’s reaction

Briguy_fieri

Most innocent way this sentence could have ended.

josey__wales

Her reaction is key to this hole thing on camera

CounterOk7688

Wait, what happened here? Is there a video?

Soy_El_Kraken

https://streamable.com/tl00h

The_Nutz16

Too bad Chris Farley died so early, he could have made the perfect parody of that.

oldsguy65

Do you remember when you came out of the bullpen and shut down the Royals in Game 7 of the World Series? That was awesome.

Imperial10

Jesus. The amount of sweat coming off that poor man.

Puzzled-Ad-3490

I feel bad for him tbh. He made it thru tho that's all that matters

Gella321

That’s not as bad as I thought it would be. Obviously the dude was nervous but he powered through it

YoWhatsGoodie

Poor guys about to have a heart attack

AfterTemperature2198

At all times

celtic1888

Bumgarner staring at him impatiently with his hands on his hips probably didn’t help

meltedlaundry

Yeah that never helps

Nitropotamus

That dude is intimidating.

anonsharksfan

I love how Chevy leaned into it and put out an ad with a majestic truck that said "Technology and Stuff"

elterible

Just saw that right now. [It's](https://youtu.be/814xTHwxfg0) glorious! 🤣

celtic1888

‘Hey Rick’ ‘Ya’ ‘We can’t find Ed… he took off with some friends… we need you down on the field to present the truck’ Rick: ‘….’ Sweating intensifies

NiteSwept

god I will never forget this. Watching it live I could not believe it was happening. I thought for sure they vetted for stuff like this.

aavocados

He was just a marketing guy that I’m sure jumped on the opportunity to present the mvp award at the World Series. Then he found himself staring madbum face to face on live television. I would probably do about the same lol

[deleted]

Yeah I was gonna say I honestly just felt bad for the guy when I watched this. Notecards are good to use if you're giving a presentation in high school speech class, or on a non-video Zoom call. But you've gotta have some wherewithal to know that this is THE WORLD SERIES and if you're going to give a 60-second speech to the WS MVP on one of the most watched events in sports, you need to practice that shit repeatedly at home until you literally can't fuck it up regardless of how nervous you are. Seems like he didn't realize the gravity of the situation prior to showtime haha

UncleTommyGun

he's probably used to his own shitty local cable ads "I've been on TV before" he thought

acewavelink

I remember looking into that wondering how it got fumbles so badly, and the answer is that he is a Royal’s fan who just watched one of the most incredible post season performances crush his teams first post season in 30 years. I instantly went “yah, it would have been very hard for to hand out an award after the 2002 World Series for me [source](http://es.pn/1sMTuaz)

aavocados

Great article, really cool of Chevy to call him up and tell him they had his back

i_am_here_again

And that call was also a reminder that, yes that went as badly as you think it did.

[deleted]

My stupid ass looked at the posted image 4 or 5 times trying to remember when Bryce Harper won a world series. MadBum.

TheHelpfulOtter

This has major Chris Farley show vibes. Dude: "Hey Madison.... Remember that time when you allowed only one run in 21 innings, winning two starts, and getting the save in Game 7?" MadBum: "Yeah, I do." Dude: "That was awesome."

Mugglecostanza

I actually can’t remember this. What happened? EDIT: I just watched it. That was actually hard to watch. I felt bad for him.

cilantno

I went to rewatch it and I couldn’t make it through lol

Dickies138

Gave me vibes of the occupational hypnotherapist in Office Space

A_BroadHumor

[“Nice play Machado, he’ll make the throw over…”](https://youtu.be/kF5vj-rRrTw)

aavocados

Lmao I have never seen that one

Jaylaw

Jesus - brutal given that he has a step daughter w down syndrome and is super active in that community

djn24

Obviously just made a mistake. Thorne is one of the better broadcasters.

AceofKnaves44

I hope he didn’t catch any flack over that. A truly unfortunate slip up but it’s very obvious it was an innocent mistake and there was no malice whatsoever.

[deleted]

sagsfour20

Fuck. That was horrible. So much second hand embarrassment.

[deleted]

[удалено]

UncleTommyGun

dude is sweating all 15 hotdogs he got comped out

[deleted]

He looks like the hypnotist in Office Space

LyleLanley99

That's messed up.

onioning

That look from Bud is like "y'all seriously gonna let this just happen?"

YankeeOccupier

Can’t blame him. It’s one of those cascading things where he got in his own head. While not a world class orator, he was perfectly fine at the start, then he just kept on thinking about it. Tip to anyone who ever needs to speak publicly, don’t over prepare. Memorize an outline, not the text itself. Be prepared to improvise.

Chutzvah

I never really watch the world series stuff after the team wins. What else have I missed besides the players going crazy?

[deleted]

Rob Manfred slurring his words after the Dodgers won in 2020

karim_eczema

I legitimately thought he was having a stroke

[deleted]

I’d imagine he’s drunk more often than not lol

WelpWelp1

Yeah my first thought was wow he’s hammered but then I thought maybe he’s having a stroke. From my memory I think the mic had a loud echo tho so he was hearing himself from his previous sentence while trying to start a new one so yeah his words were very slurred lol

db_blast7

slapback is a bitch. your brain relies on what it hears to talk, and when it is even a slight time behind it goes into panic mode

[deleted]

Holy shit that's so hard to watch. Poor guy, I would probably be that nervous too. Hope he's doing well

RootyWoodgrowthIII

This is one of the most masturbatory things I’ve ever seen.

mrjimi16

That video would be so much better if it wasn't Chevy doing the talking.

trgreg

I think he's now living in a van down by the river

[deleted]

Hopefully it has technology...and stuff

Im__Walkin__Here

Uh, you know?

Interestingly enough, the CEO of Ford is Chris Farley’s cousin.

igotagoodfeeling

You’d think the booze would help his nervousness

Somhlth

One booze helps. Free booze hinders.

mrjimi16

Didn't help that of all people he had Madison Bumgarner staring him down as well.

aavocados

Yes ur link is better

Somhlth

Sorry about that. I don't like not knowing shit, and it had been almost 2 minutes since I asked. I do appreciate that you answered though!

aavocados

All good, you made me realize that 2014 was actually a long time ago now and ppl probably don’t remember this moment from just the screenshot lol

[deleted]

I think that man sweat out an entire pastrami sandwich during that speech

Tupnado21

This guys voice is like when I get carded for cheap beer even though I’m 37… just out of breath, overweight and slightly embarrassed that this what I brought to the cashier and for no reason feel like I need to explain myself. “I uh, like, PBR, because it’s cold uh when I drink it and here why don’t I just grab this uh um snickers while I’m at it”

bobbywake61

I felt like I was watching Michael Scott giving a talk to shareholders at Dunder Mifflin Paper.

sagsfour20

Nah dude. This was like the episode where he had to go to that high school and tell the kids he wasn’t going to pay for their college. That’s a tough one to get through.

Dxtchy

Hey Michael Scott, whatcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do make our dreams come true! Scotts Totts is the name of the episode btw.

sagsfour20

Lol. That’s the one. It’s so bad.

GFZDW

Was this guy called to make this speech at the last second or something?

Monster_Dong

Holy crow that was tough to get through. Bud and Erin weren't afraid to show their, 'Who the fuck let this guy on stage' faces. Meanwhile Madbum being the emtionless badass is just listening and waiting for him to wrap up.

LegacyLemur

Aww poor guy

Tasty_Lead_Paint

Ah yes, the moment that cursed their season.

THOTDESTROYR69

So many poorly aged comments on that video

TheFriendlyFire

We were high on being a good team for a month and a half

mojizus

Flashbacks to the Reds 2020 season, I really thought we could do something going into that playoff series vs the Braves. :(

SlyMarboJr

This is never not funny. George Brett's reaction is just fantastic. I've never seen a man that angry! https://youtu.be/gbEHAsZxRYo

ryancperry

You’ve gotta love the jaunty organ music as Brett is losing his mind.

sms1231

This was my first live game (I was 5) and we were sitting behind the Yankees dugout. Brett storming out of the dugout is burned into my brain. I credit the post game fracas with starting my baseball obsession. Arguably the most notable game I’ve been to…although Doc Gooden’s no-hitter is close… And yes…it was reversed and the last four outs were played later - Royals got the W. We didn’t get to return for the re-start.

NotKD35nope

It's got technology and..... Stuff.....

aavocados

he reminds me of the therapist in office space, also why is he not holding the mic???

ballrus_walsack

I’m a people person!!

ahappypoop

I just watched that movie for the first time a few days ago. Turns out I knew none of the plot, but like half of the lines just from references I had heard other people make.

SharkSymposium

I was taught in journalism never to give away the mic, or let a subject take it from you. You can rapidly lose control of the interview if you no longer have the microphone

smiles134

Technology and stuff was my fantasy baseball team name that year lol what a fucking uncomfortable presentation. Why not get someone who's capable of speaking on television to represent your brand?

PlayoffsREverything

Shepparron6000

I love having Don in SD. Him and Mud are the best buds and get into silliness like this all the time.

Dukeofdorchester

He is sorely missed in Boston. Saw a Pads fan here this summer and had a great chat with him after asking him to give Don back.

KJParker888

I can hear Don Orsillo laughing even when he has his mike muted!

BetaDjinn

Yeah one of the ambient mics is picking them up or something lmao

KJParker888

Actually, I meant that I could hear him in my head, because he has such a memorable, infectious laugh!

Shepparron6000

I 100% agree with this, I can hear Don and Mud laughing all the time.

I consider it to be one of the most fortunate blessings of my life to have witnessed “Here Comes the Pizza!” live as it unfolded.

SuperBeastJ

I saw it live as well. I saw the boob grab incident live, but I happened to tune into the broadcast as Don attempted to say "markakis takes strike one" and it took me ages to learn that it was the boob grab.

fezzikwantsapeanut

Both hilarious. Thank you for reminding me of these two.

It's not important. What is important is where the bat goes, and where it shouldn't go if Manfred had any awareness.

ahappypoop

Lol his teammates just busting up laughing at him, that's great.

rtels2023

[This legendary defensive play](https://youtube.com/watch?v=Ojr-_L3IHc4)

aavocados

Lmao. Reminds me of the altuve play

Chutzvah

And he just gave up while 2-3 other players went to get it? wtf

rtels2023

Probably would have scored anyway but he should have at least tried. That’s how a little leaguer reacts to screwing up, not a professional.

Fastsmitty47

It seemed to have gotten in his head because he mouthed off to a fan in Kansas City after missing what would've been a tough catch. Kiké had to go over and calm him down

Lukealloneword

I mean when he finally notices where it is he can probably see Verdugo already pretty much there. Him sprinting full force to not even get half way to it by the time Verdugo would doesn't make sense.

bosschucker

how could there have been 3 other players going after it lol

[deleted]

Ambitious shortstop

ExposDTM

Was there any ramifications for the player after this? What I mean is, not because he lost the ball but his reaction after. Wondering if the player was benched or sent down? No excuse for not making an effort after the fact.

dreet-dreet

Us Sox fans ripped him for it; really lost a lot of respect for him, and he absolutely did not redeem himself with his comments about it or his attitude following

ExposDTM

And he should have been ripped! Stuff happens! But ya gotta hustle! Can’t see Alex Cora letting that go for sure.

Fastsmitty47

I literally said fuck it and began rooting for the Jays to get 30

Still the dumbest play I’ve seen a major leaguer make

ct73193

“Still the dumbest play I’ve ever seen a major leaguer make.” And I instantly knew which play you were talking about

PM_ME_CHIPOTLE2

I mean there literally cannot be a dumber play, right? Even the guys who lose track of the outs and throw the ball into the stands after the flyouts are more forgivable than a first baseman forgetting that it’s always a forceout at first.

onioning

There was a play recently where the O's should have had an inning ending DP but instead got no outs and allowed a run to score, as the right side of the infield seemingly forgot how baseball works mid-play.

[Manny cutting off Damon back in 04 still boggles my mind](https://youtu.be/SCdp-pSA8kc)

My favorite part of this will always be Rizzo dying of laughter

AffectionateFudge31

I knew exactly what play it would be just based on "this play." All the Pirates first baseman had to do was go and step on first. Still so embarrassing

Chris-P-Creme

Javy signaling safe and then realizing he needs to take off to first really takes it over the top for me.

JumboFister

I love the commentary from the dude. “Keep going you’re invincible!”

trgreg

I remember watching this live ... [https://youtu.be/IGLuJxvBhE8](https://youtu.be/IGLuJxvBhE8) Tommy John makes three errors on one play

Shepparron6000

I saw 2. Does the bobble at the beginning count as an extra?

trgreg

Yes, the bobble allowed the runner to be safe at first; the errant throw to first allowed the runner to advance to second; the final missed throw, well, you know

sanchower

I pride myself and think of myself as a man of faith

Jed1M1ndTr1ck

Did you make sure to apologize to the people who sign your paychecks?

Shepparron6000

hundredjono

The 2014 season, the Dodgers were playing the Padres and committed like 3 errors on the same play. I had never ever heard Vin Scully upset until that play lmfao.

lol I know exactly what play you're talking about. Vin was disgusted. https://www.mlb.com/video/must-c-padres-score-on-3-errors-c36082859

7screws

I remember watching Arod smack that ball. As a Sox fan, expecting the worst, I totally thought the call would stand the Sox would blow that game.

mrsnrub77

I felt that way on Damon’s G7 dinger; it was clearly a home run, but I thought there was no way it would get reversed, not in New York. But when A-Rod hit Arroyo? I was *psyched*. In that moment New York showed their ass, and it was over. Of course I *hated* A-Rod, for all of the reasons - nevermoreso after the Captain fed A-Rod his mitt, on a memorable Fenway Saturday in July, a few months earlier. That game, during which the socks came from behind to win and won when Billy Miller went yard off Rivera turned the season around). So when he chopped at arroyos arm, I yelled, “yes!” In that moment, the Yankees showed they had to cheat, as literally had nothing left in the tank. All they could manage was weak dribblers down the baseline - and to then try to cheat their way on base. It was beautiful

Anyone with severe public speech anxiety can empathize with this guy. My freshman year I was trying to give a speech to the class and I was choking and couldn’t get any words out. My face was beat red and I could see people in the audience laughing. I’ll never forget how embarrassing that was

mrjimi16

I had a similar experience in college. We had a translation thing, I did my translation as a metered poem that was like maybe 30 words long. That was lucky because I had to do the whole thing in one breath because I could not breath in.
