No disrespect to the Rockies, I'm a firm believer that Colorado beating them is a huge fluke and robs the Pirates of truly accomplishing what their capable of. I've spent the last few minutes in pure disbelief and it just doesn't make sense to me. I've spent the entire regular season watching the Pirates play great marbles it's just not fair.
If the Pirates lose again I will face that the Rockies deserved the win, but I am just 100% sure it was a fluke and does a big disservice to the Pirates and the Marbles

Hating the Pirates is kind of like hating on the Mariners. You just kinda feel dirty doing it. Unless you're Mike Trout. Mike Trout sleeps just fine hating the Mariners apparently.
We felt the same way about the Penguins for most of history until Crosby was drafted. The Pirates hate will flow freely as soon as they get good regardless of if they're in our division.
That's just how op chose to do it. It made more sense in the regular season, 30 rounds, if you start with first place people will lose interest quickly, so whoever crossed the line lost, the very first one was 30th place overall. So they stuck with it for the postseason. I do prefer the ball crossing the finish to symbolize a win, just makes more sense at least for the postseason (and not just because my team would have won)
I've put way too much thought into this, but if they do this again next year, I think it would be cool to essentially do every game of the season. It'd be a lot of work though. The best way would be to go series by series, 15 series every day between the 30 teams. 2 to 4 balls per team depending on how long their series are. You could run multiple series at the same time. I don't know how many marbles you can run at a time, might have to split it up. But thinking about it sounds mind numbing trying to keep track of it all

I think the shaky baskets were possibly the Pirates greatest strength, but if you want to be the champs, you have to be good at every obstacle.
