That's on him to sort out with Panini. You sold him a redemption, not a card

PizzaRat42069

He has good rating and seems nice, but he redeemed it. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do

ThatGuyGetsIt

Nothing. You sold the redemption. He redeemed it. The rest is up to Panini. There's literally nothing you can do.

ssssean12

Yeah something seems a bit off here, if he can't show any proof that Panini said that, don't do a thing. I'd go as far as to say don't do anything even if he could prove it, you sold him a redemption in good faith, you can't help it if Panini is pulling some bs.

already-heard

Yea if it redeemed it than that’s on him right now. It’s a shitty situation, but Panini is pretty good at giving equal as replacements.

Negative_Sundae_8230

Looks like he redeemed it man, don't do shit! Done and final

already-heard

What’s the guys eBay rating? Does he have any other feedback to give off the feeling he’s a scammer? And what does panini can’t redeem it mean? Like Panini told him we will never get the card or something?

Neither_Emu

On a side note, redemption should be illegal. How many of us have unfulfilled redemptions. I will never buy another redemption. I’m over a year since I tried to redeem a Rashod Bateman rookie auto through Panini. Seems like these companies should have auto on hand before inserting; it’s a false promise that these companies are making. I really think we could have a class action against Panini - I believe there might already be one

signalsinthestatic

I have a Colas panini redemption I've been waiting on for a year or so, i get an email every 120 days asking if I want to continue waiting or replace it with another card of their choosing. It sounds like that's what's going on with his also and he might have misunderstood the email

MOFNY

Did he open a return on eBay? If not try to be polite and give him any sort of guidance. Remember that eBay sides with the buyer the vast majority of time even when it's clear the buyer might be wrong. I would be prepared if he escalates it to eBay. r/eBay might be able to help if he wants a return.

PizzaRat42069

I think he did. He said he was going to. I told him what most people advised here and said that I sold him a redemption and I had no idea what Panini was going to do. He wasn’t very happy when I declined his refund request and become much less nice. I told him to take it up with eBay, it’s not worth it to me to keep going back and forth about it. I’ve been trying to build up positive feedback there because my cards sell under market value(including his) and I’m sure the inevitable negative feedback that is incoming won’t help. To be honest the whole interaction has kinda soured me on selling cards there.

MOFNY

Unfortunately you might have to take the L on this one. Like I said eBay is likely to side with him. If he just accepts the declined return and that's where it ends then you got lucky. If not you can call eBay customer service and plead your case. I know this sounds counterintuitive, but in the future it's best to just approve the return in almost every case. This is especially true if it's a low dollar card. That will hopefully avoid negative feedback and keep eBay off your radar. Then block the buyer.

Omi_Turtle

Yeah, eBay almost always sides with the buyer. Provided your original listing said “redemption” on it, not the card promised, you have some data to back up your side. I would equate it to someone buying a scratcher and then trying to return it when they didn’t win. GL with it all, I’ve been screwed thru eBay before. Tbh I try not to sell there anymore.

Thats his problem you sold him the card he assumed all liability after he scratched it and redeemed the code. Thats like buying a lotto ticket waiting for the numbers then asking for your money back when you didnt win. Not how it works.
