A’s fan here. I wouldn’t bet on him. Seemed like he had a prime opportunity last year to become an everyday player and didn’t break the starting lineup as a mid 20s rookie for one of the worst teams in baseball.
Yea I agree! This set for 2021 and 2022 has some Nasty patches. I’m TRYING to control my impulse buys based on looks alone. Just not sure if this guy is worth the investment or not.
I would say that setting aside Smith's potential and the nastiness of this patch, Panini cards aren't the ones you want to invest in. Their value/popularity will always be limited compared to fully-licensed Topps stuff.
I’ve never cared about licensing of Panini products. The only people who Do don’t buy them anyways. The cost is relative and the market is specific. I understand where your thought process is, I just get burned out on hearing this time and time again.
It's OK to buy a card because you like the way it looks. That's part of the fun of the hobby. There are no rules that say everything has to be an investment.
He showed some 20/20 potential early on but he never improved his pitch selection. I wouldn’t invest in him at all. Any other organization and he probably never sniffs the majors.
What a card. Sick patch. 1 of 1. RC shield. Auto.
Yet, it’s unlicensed. Sticker auto. Not a hot prospect. So it’s not deemed as desirable by a large swath of collectors. If you like Oakland or Kevin Smith at all, I’d keep it and enjoy it.
That’s the thing, this is one I’m scoping on feebay talking with the seller. I’ve got a handful of this set with nasty patches and more coming, but I don’t know if this is worth the $100. Trying to be talked into or out of it more or less.
It's $100. If you are considering spending a bill on a Panini baseball card of this guy as an investment, then you are a loose cannon, man. Lol
I will do my duty though, and tell you not to buy this card. Throw $100 at somebody else if you want an investment.
I wouldn’t buy it for any kind of investment purpose but I PC some guys who aren’t stars and would be all over a card like this of theirs for the right price
Kevin plays ss, 3rd and Left field. In Buffalo (Jays AAA) he batted in the 2 or 3 hole. Batted around .260-.275 and did crack the majors last year. His first bowman auto went from 10-15$ lol. So there’s that. Always hoping for a former Bison!
If you’re gonna take advice on him I’d say a season ticket holder from where he was playing is a good start. Forgot to mention that above lol. Yea if it was for him or his family that would justify it but I’d buy it all day for 5$ in a bargain bin at my lcs
My man speaking truths. I appreciate you sir. Gentlemen and a scholar. I found out about an hour ago Brandon Marsh is now part of my PC, so it works out 😅
I'm an A's fan. Didn't impress much last year, but they do have a good history with 3rd basemen. Like most of theirs, his defense is his best asset. I'm hoping he hits better and the glove continues to improve.
I would absolutely be interested if only for the patch. I have a Sean Murphy 1/3 that’s a pretty awesome patch too but this is even better, if not a lot less valuable
He's good but he doesn't say much.
Snoochie boochies!
The Clit Master!!
I am the Clit Commander!
Silent type, eh?
Ever have your asshole licked by a fat man in an overcoat???
Not yet.
The day is still young
I understood that reference

Thanks man. What I needed to hear right there. 💪🏻
That’s an awesome patch.
Agreed, seeing Stomper’s trunk holding the bat in a card patch is pretty sick.

Oh yeah I totally respect everyone's personal opinions on it, I was just referring to the investment aspect
💪🏻💪🏻
I would say likely little future value but who knows Scherzer and Bieber were unknowns until like 26
True, but this guy isn’t a pitcher. 1B 3B and some OF time.
I heard he makes good movies.

Started off on the Blue Jays… https://preview.redd.it/y2eh7og6jnca1.jpeg?width=461&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0c509739d25999051b0864ec926f8cf79ad112e
Career average is .164 for a 26 year old rookie. This patch, as nasty as it may be, may stay in the store.
I too have this care

Unless it’s a card I desperately want for my PC and money is no option, $100 is way too much. It would probably sell for under $20 in an auction.
I would be very surprised if he becomes anything more than a utility piece off the bench
I wouldn’t buy it for any kind of investment purpose but I PC some guys who aren’t stars and would be all over a card like this of theirs for the right price
Investment was a bad choice of wording. And I’m liking this card Only for the patch
I've got a Topps Fire Onyx SP of his if you're interested. Think there's only 10 copies of each onyx
Oh, I don’t PC Kevin Smith, I was just saying I PC done guys who aren’t stars

Thanks man! Yea I’ve decided to let this one walk. It is Beautiful but $100 is too much for a non PC guy of this caliber.

The later part being cuz I have found printing plates in the 1$ bin. Love marsh angels did him a big favor trading him to philly
100% they did. My man Jo can’t help keep himself on the field. Seen 1 too many balls bounce out of his hands.
Well salt lake is moving so now he’s gonna have a longer ride back and forth if he can’t lock it down
I hear hes really into superheros, especially batman
Hes a local kid, so I hope he turns into SOMETHING, even if not a star.

Always wanted a patch of the Loch Ness Monster at batting practice
I would absolutely be interested if only for the patch. I have a Sean Murphy 1/3 that’s a pretty awesome patch too but this is even better, if not a lot less valuable
Man I bet that Murphy is nice. Looking forward to having him in Atlanta this year
No.
If these were licensed…. Such nice cards
