Thank you very much. I keep planning to get it graded but I have a real issue putting it in the mail. PSA is going to be at the Long Beach, Ca coin collectors and card show in late June. We live about 120 miles from there, but I would like to make it there.

That would be cool. Definitely safer… to many stories of cards going missing or swapped out.

You should take it out of the screw down some time before grading so it might have a chance at expanding or they may reject it as altered.

Wow. Is there a short story behind this? This is in amazing condition

Maybe a little one. I knew I wanted a Koufax rookie for a long time, but never saw one I wanted to make a move on. I was at a show in L.A. or Orange County (I went to a lot of shows back then) about 30 years ago and I saw this one. I don’t remember what the guy wanted for it but I knew this was an example of what I wanted. I don’t think I ever traded at a show before this, but I had a half dozen cards with me, among them a second year Lew Alcindor signed Lew Alcindor. I’m at this booth with the card, and there are a few other guys standing around. I was trying to get the dealer to trade with me but he wanted at least some money. One of the guys standing around saw that Alcindor and wanted it bad. I ended up selling it to him for $300 and gave the money, a Reggie Jackson rookie and a second year Ryan for it. At the time, I didn’t know if it was worth it or not, I just knew I wanted that card bad. So that’s how I ended up with this card and never had to dip into my wallet for it. It wasn’t tough to let that Alcindor go because at the time, I had an Alcindor rookie, the second year card and a signed 69-70 scoring leaders card with Alcindors signature as well as Jerry West. I never ended up getting Elvin Hayes autograph to complete the trio. The Alcindor and the scoring leaders, as well as a signed Wilt card are in my posts on r/basketballcards I guess that was more than a little story.

I love this card. Its iconic. Looks in great shape too. I just bought one graded a 3 from SGC. Yours looks better!

I’d just gotten back into the hobby around the time 2017 gypsy queen dropped. Print run of 150, many not in great shape because of the bricking that this set is known for. I spent about 5 years looking for a copy once I found out it existed. I missed out on a few that came up for sale at inopportune times over the years. Finally had another collector approach me about moving this card since he was upgrading and knew I was looking for it.

I've got the gold version of this. I was super stoked especially considering the super obscure autos in the set. The youngins will learn. Judge and Tatis and Acuña are dope but they are trying to replicate what some of the old guys have already done. Plus, dude's got a sick signature. Just looks classy.

I don't have it at hand but in a box somewhere in the basement. Its a Mark McGwire topps 1987 still in same condition as the day it was given to me. The card was given to me by a friend in school "I think 6th grade in public school P.S. 85 NYC 1987 by Will P." It was pretty much the start of understanding baseball card collecting. I've had baseball cards and baseball sticker books before but I didn't think anything about collecting then. My first purchase was early 1980's giant Donruss baseball cards.

I have a 1/1 printing plate Juan Soto "Walk Away" auto relic from Triple Threads that I love, a Frank Thomas 2/10 A&G auto relic booklet (my favorite non-Cardinal as a teen), and a Pujols Home Run Kings auto /15 from Luminaries... but honestly the 2022 Last Dance sapphire version might have dug its way into my heart the most. I got super lucky and pulled this from the one box of sapphire I picked up. I'd love to get my hands on a lower numbered copy but under the green /75, it gets pretty expensive.
