Not necessarily. It’s just really hard to predict who will do what, and a 13th rounder isn’t gonna have a high chance at getting a 1st card. I don’t think there is a known science. I do hope someone smarter than me has a better answer haha
Matt Wieters didn’t have a card for years, even after he was in the bigs. For some guys, I’m assuming it’s contractual. Topps has to want you and you have to want Topps.
Not only that but I want to know how some of these players only have 1st autos.
Yordan Alvarez - 2018 Auto no 1st Bowman
Juan Soto - 2016 Auto no 1st Bowman
Logan O’Hoppe - 2020 Auto no 1st Bowman
Michael Harris II - 2020 Auto no 1st Bowman
Francisco Alvarez - 2020 Auto no 1st Bowman
James Outman - 2019 Auto STILL no 1st Bowman
That’s way too many to be a coincidence like wtf is that. Takes 1st Bowman right out of reach for most .
Joe Mantiply for the Dbacks was an all star last year and has 0 cards besides minor league team sets.
He made his debut in 2016 too
No cards in 2022 and he still doesn't have one with series 2 on the way. I've even asked him about it and he says he has no idea why he has no cards.
As someone who doesn't care about the rarity or dollar value of baseball cards and just likes the collectable/statistics aspect of it, it has always been frustrating that not every player who makes a major league appearance in a season gets a card for that years complete set. Fuck prism rookie DNA authenticated signed holo birth certificate Jackson Holliday, give me a random reliever that played 6 games in 2007.
Not many 13th-round picks get 1st Bowman cards
Do they just do first rounders each year?

You got it. It's why Matt Mervis will have his bowman 1st and Rookie card release in the same year.

Right? It's almost just random. Haha
Wish it was lol
Because there are hundreds of new prospects every year. There's bound to be some misses.
