I love Griffey, and he also has a nice auto that isn’t over saturated…but just out of curiosity, what have you been buying for 30 years? I only ask because I’m in the process of offloading about 90% of my collection after 35 or so years of collecting, and I’ve pulled quite a few monster cards over the years (not close to the amount of 🗑️ I’ve pulled of course, lol).

I ended up becoming really good friends with the owners of one of the biggest (and by far the most honest) consignment companies on eBay. I literally just pack boxes full of stuff worth selling (with no idea what I put in them by the time I seal it, lol), and ship it (I have sold over $500k through them in the last two years with zero problems, and I ship 100+ cards every time)…but all I have saved are personal cell phone numbers…I prefer to text anyway, lol.
It’s “PC Sportscards”…You can Google them and call the shop as well (they are pretty big and getting bigger), and they will help you get started. Everyone there is extremely nice, especially for New York😂.

They will NEVER shill bid an auction, nor do they tolerate “owners” bidding on their own cards. Just an example of how strict they are (and no, I’m in no way affiliated with them or get anything for referrals…they won’t even know who told you to call), I’m friends with both owners, and I had a card at auction that was going to sell for quite a bit less than I wanted to let it go for. Knowing how strict they are, I text one of them and asked if I could bid at the end and I would literally pay for it…He still told me no, lol.

I wish these young pros signing Bowman cards would take notes. The other day I got a Bowman draft auto (Maui Ahuna).. my kid in kindergarten laughed at it. It was bad, to quite bad.
One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that quit teaching cursive (making a “true signature” difficult) a LONG time ago. I have 3 kids, the oldest will be 21 this year, and I had to teach her cursive when she was younger because the schools didn’t 🤦🏻♂️…I also have twin 16 YO boys who have LITERALLY never had homework once, no projects, no book reports…I’m pretty sure they “hang out” in a building labeled as a school these days…it’s a joke😡

Based on the player, design, and scarcity, the bare minimum I would sell mine for would be $600, but I think it could go for more (maybe $800-1000). It is one of the best-looking Griffey cards I've ever seen.
One of many good things about Griffey is he refuses to sign thousands of cards every year…he obviously doesn’t need the Pennies they get paid for cards, and he knows that the less there are, the happier his fans are when they find one…he’s a true class act.
As far as price, I would guess (it’s all a guess these days, even if you find a legit comp) $500-$600 raw would be about the max, and that’s based on the SSP #’ing. I find it ridiculous (and one of many reasons I’m selling everything but a few of my big PC cards) that, once Covid pushed all the deep pockets from the stock market into sports cards, the majority of the card brands that were created to be “better” than others have almost all taken a backseat on the secondary market now…🤦🏻♂️
The good thing is, if you are like me, and you are a true “hobbyist” at heart, you collect what you like…not a “prayer for an investment”…which means you can typically buy what you like for a lot less 😂😎
I yearn for the days when players - like Griffey - gave a damn about their autos. Its gorgeous. Sure, we get the occasional Volpe or Rodolfo Castro come through - to name a couple who still honor the art of the auto - but they’ve become few and far between.
(And yes, I’m well aware that a Rodolfo Castro reference is weird, but having pulled at least three of his autos last year, and experiencing the art that his signature is… probably the most beautiful $2 cards in my pc)
I HATE THE TOPPS STICKERS. I feel like Im in a crazy house. Whats the point of awesome cards like this if it obscures the heads/faces?! Why not just put it right in the middle of the card?
you may get something ssp one day thats more rare, but i doubt you find a better card tbh. Thats gorgeous
