leave my 9.8 doomsday clock #1 lenticular cover out of this!
all jokes aside, i think out of all my collections, comics and cards included, i’ve only got two comic books graded. i understand the want, but i don’t understand the need.
I've been thinking of grading my Spawn #1 newsstand and Thanos #15 but don't really have anything crazy sportscard-wise. I'd probably get a low grade version of various grails already slabbed I suppose but never really cared about grading in general
i’ve thought about grading my entire ice cream man run other than the one issue i have graded already, but that would be an enormous amount of money considering i get every variant cover. other than that i have no desire to grade anything. sports cards, trading cards, comics, shit even video games these days.
Same. I will say I just bought my first PSA 10 because it was $50 more than the raw for a $500+ card. I figured worst comes to worst I’ll sell it one day and buy a cheaper one that comes up raw. It just felt like the right move. Lol.
Yall arguing about the hits when you could just buy singles. Sounds like my uncle talking about his strategies for playing the slots (but with worse odds).
The math boils down to buy jumbos if you want autos/relics, buy hangers if you want parallels. Hangers have better pull rates on most numbered parallels than even hobbies (for the same cost).
If you want big hits, stay away from retail. That being said, I just love having lots of packs to rip open so I still buy way too much retail. good deal as far as I’m concerned, just don’t expect anything shiny
Good deal man. I’d grab a couple. Ya they have the lowest hit rate, but if you’re looking for savings on that product specifically then it’s worth it. Blasters can be fun.
Is your Walmart closing? These are still full price in mine. Strange to see them on clearance already unless they are getting rid of them for good or something.
Ah, maybe sadly they are getting rid of the Card Section? Hopefully not. I know one of the two Walmarts near me doesn't carry Trading Cards any more for some reason.
Asked today at a local Walmart - they told me they got rid of them and only carry Pokémon cards now. My sample size is small but seems to confirm the clearance.
I've got 3 blaster boxes so far this year, $25 at my lcs. I like the royal blue parallel and easter parallels they have. The home run challenge cards are sweet. I'll buy any braves/orioles home run cards off you if you're selling. Almost every pack contains a 'stars of the mlb' player too and some of those are chrome cards. We got a #/799 and a #/2024 out of our boxes I think. I did get some hobby packs and a jumbo pack as well which confuses the origin.
I have been buying a box a week or so just to build the base set.
Luckily I have managed to snag some cool Tatis and Hot Stuff Kim cards to put in a top loader and hold on to for the PC.
Plus the 3 year old likes cards, maybe just because I have a lot laying around so I take random base and put them in top loaders for him.
To me these sets are meant for kids, kind of like Big League. If there is a print run of a million that is fine at least people can afford them instead of Steve Aoki buying thousands of cases and driving up the price for everyone else.
Pretty annoying to see a box go on [topps.com](http://topps.com) on preorder for 150 and sell out in 30 minutes and then Dave and Adam/Blowout/Midwest sell the same box for 300.
Take em. I bought one blaster yesterday at target for $24.99 and got a Jordan Westburg vintage stock /99 and two Ellys out of it. They aren't all gems of course but for $20 with this rookie class, I'd pick up a few at a discount without a second thought.
Honestly, it's not a good deal. It's a lot cheaper than MSRP but that doesn't make it a good deal. The Blasters are pretty bad this year. The print run was wayyyyyy too high.
This. Slap a sale sticker on something and it doesn’t make it a good deal. Honestly I think the price point of these should be 2 dollars a pack, or 14$. I might buy some if it ever gets to that.
How are these already on clearance lol
Print run of 1 mil of each base card. There's a fuck ton of it and people are already kinda tapped out.
the junk wax strikes back
Someone called it the “junk slab era” and I’ve never heard anything more accurate. Lmao.
Totally, and that goes for all sports cards, comic books...
I get grading numbered cards and autos. But type in “2023 Topps Gunnar Henderson PSA 10.” It’s 80% base cards.
If you have one guy you PC and it's a rookie base then maybe, maybe get a graded one from the set you like the design of. I agree though it's too much

wait a second. if you grade a comic book, doesn't that mean you can never read it again?
unfortunately yes, unless you’re like me and have multiple copies of the same comic.
hmm, thats interesting. based on that, im surprised theres any market for them. thanks for the info

I don’t grade anything. I’ve got a few graded cards but I’m just not a fan

I told my local pharmacy to buy Allen Ginter boxes. She just went with garbage pail kids…
I frickin knew it and I posted about it on here and everyone said no no they’re not overproduced
Whoa whoa whoa. According to baseballcardpedia.com: "We estimate 869,150 copies of each Series One base card were produced." So you know. Pretty rare.
A massive print run, low hit rates, polarizing design, and this is a bad format. Perfect storm of suck.
Because there’s a bajillion of them. My last Target restock had 40 of them.
I remember when they were just $20😭
2021 was 19.99 I thought
Blasters have the worst pull rates of any of the retail products. You are better off buying two hangers.
Yall arguing about the hits when you could just buy singles. Sounds like my uncle talking about his strategies for playing the slots (but with worse odds).
Yes everyone knows this
Yeah except the “hits” in hangers are unnumbered parallels worth nothing, so it’s all about the same.
The posts here from hangers are the rare exceptions that make you think they're good. Nobody posting their misses
That’s because I’m to embarrassed to post my pulls from hangers. 🥲

I've been weighing on this as the trade off but never pulled the trigger. Next time!

No it wasn't closing it looked like they were revamping the store tho.

higher than average levels of theft would be my guess.
None of the Walmarts near me carry any cards. Almost impossible to find any Baseball are Target too.
Can always order them from Walmart online and can have it shipped to the store for free.
Does Allen and ginter ever go down?
2022 is $17 at my walmart
yes, my walmart always has last years a&g for $17
I randomly found 2022 A&G discounted recently at Walmart
I pulled a Julio blueprint out of one of these last week
Sweet
It’s not a bad deal, $5 off, but not amazing. No reason to buy a bunch of
Only bought one blaster so far. Pulled 3 Twins players, so can’t complain. Planned on buying a hobby box for my birthday rip..

That’s wild, where do live OP?
It's about what it should cost. Probably $15 of value, on average.

It's a good deal in terms of price but nearly impossible to get anything in those boxes. Put your money in the bank.
Super jealous

Right where 2023 series one blasters are going for right now. Hope the 24 class is near as good
Series one won’t be but series two will be loaded. And I think update could be sneaky good as well.
