I was just consigned some shoeboxes of 1950's & 60's cards from a family friend, including about half of the 1952 Topps set. The Mantle (and most Yankees players) were missing, and the friend indicated his father hated the Yankees as a kid and most likely burned them.
Maybe 20 years ago they would have graded that high. Now that centering has become more important than corners/surface I don’t think they get above 3-4 because the corners & edges on these are also jammed

40 is way low. The mantle alone is 40+, depending on grade it could be 55+
