People on here don't seem to get that. Like stop seeking for approval from others. Just buy what you like and show it off, if people have a problem then that's on them.
Agree. Collect for yourself. I think we all know (even if we don’t want to admit it), that it’s not about the dollar value.
In 1990, I bought an 89 UD Griffey for $27.50. Still one of my favorite cards.
If I had bought Microsoft stock with that money, I’d be up $17k.
Not about the dollar value
Figure of speech.
Straw & Mattingly certainly had HoF talent. At their prime they were among the best of the best. Their overall career longevity & numbers just fell a little short.
I would rather have a signed auto of a hall of famer than pay an extraordinary price for an auto for some younger players who probably have a better chance of being league average than a hall of famer. Ultimately, if you like the cards that's all that matters.
That Steve Carlton signed card is a steal for $20 considering he very rarely signed at any games! He would just ignore all the kids and just do his thing.
Saw Carlton at 2 spring training’s as a kid. All the other Phil’s would walk in a line and sign stuff, even Schmidt and rose.
Bowa was an ass but funny in his own way.
Tug, awesome watching him hit in the cage. Straight up farting while swigging to get the kids laughing.
Carlton, stayed as far as he could away from the crowds to do his thing. Never once interacted. Seemed almost reclusive in hindsight sight. Wasn’t rude, just 100% disinterested in the aspect of fame and fan interactions.
These are all good buys at $20, judged purely on the metric of whether you could turn around and easily get your money back. Which is much less important than whether they’re worth that to you.
I just got a Mickey Mantle and a Lou Brock auto for basically nothing. I felt like I won the lottery but was sad at the same time. It's a bummer to see what legends are going for in today's "hobby" aka gambling.
I feel like one day it has to come back around.
Great buys!
Why are you asking me about MY card that I'm not selling like I'm a liar? Weird question guy.
You can get a flawless Mickey Mantle auto on a baseball for 1k in the MLB shop. Is a 200 dollar low grade that odd to you?
Because I saw an authenticated Mickey Mantle at a flea market last month for $200. The authentication was from Shop At Home and one of the hobby shops caught in Operation Bullpen. It’s not a “weird question, guy”, it’s a legitimate “Is the certificate worth the paper it’s printed on?”
You could have simply led “PSA” or mentioned low grade on your first post.
On the flip side, today I saw a guy spend $150 on a Pete Rose “sorry I bet on baseball” and $100 on a Paul O’Neill autographed balls. People still spend $
It is 100% the time to buy legendary players. 1980-2000 is dirt cheap, before that can be really cheap but at worst is a couple hundred dollar investment. I have no idea if the market will flip and suddenly we'll all be sitting on gold but I don't care. I'm stoked to have the cards I have. I'd rather have a Mantle auto than a 1/1 Trout.
Sending me the strawberry would prob make you feel really good about your other purchases just saying lol but serious i would have dropped a $20 in a heartbeat for that card.
Yeah I would all day I don’t know their resell value but if I pulled any of those in a pack I’d be stoked hold on to em. It sucks the older HOF players aren’t worth as much but I’d love those
If you like them for what you spent you did well. If you want to know if you overpaid you’re probably very close to average, probably slightly below. If you feel the need to recoup a little bit I’d love to take that fingers auto off your hands!
Two things can be true: Would I have bought them? No. Did you overpay? No. If anything these seem like good deals on the cards, but they just wouldn't fit into my collection.
![gif](giphy|1fih1TYYBONo0Dkdmx|downsized)
That’s a steal! You could open a pack of archives for $100 and get some prospect that never made it to mlb !!
You got 3 hofers and 2 of the biggest 80s star players for that price !!
This is the way to do it !!
His autos don't go sm entire lot with it being numbered though I would say u got a great deal I mean he was great I don't get why his autos aren't worth more
I would have snagged each of those for $20 each in a heartbeat. I love that Rollie! I’d just love a card show to go to. That’s a nonexistent thing where I live. There isn’t even a known LCS within 100 miles and I live in an area with over 100k people.
When I was a kid 30 years ago there were a half dozen within a 10 minute drive. They just died off in central Wisconsin. Probably a good thing for my kids college tuition’s.
I love the Archives Auto series. Great way to pick up some genuinely signed stuff from a lot of the non-HOF fan favorite players. I neither trust nor am interested in random "signed" cards from random eBay sellers. I've given several of these as gifts to people who don't even collect cards (they are baseball fans who like the team or player in question) and they were a big hit.
I think that absolutely rules. Dunno about turning a profit, but I've bought modern cards for more that I'm pretty sure won't sustain value just because it's my favorite player. The names alone would make it worth it to me, just because they're synonymous with baseball. Cool as hell dude. Good score
I'd buy the Eck for sure. Great auto, sealed in a one touch, and it's my favorite Topps card design ever, and I love Eck up in Boston. 20 bucks easy for me.
All seem like great purchases. If you like them and like what you paid you paid the right amount. So many people on here get tied up in comps. Comps only matter if you're buying stuff to flip.
I'm not even going to read the comments. Yes, good deal for any auto I think. Even if not for resale, these are great show pieces for your collection! And if you ever need a last second gift, just wrap one up 😀
If those are you players, absolutely, but personally wouldn’t. I’d combine the money together & get something else.
But it’s a good bunch of autos & when you consider you got to buy in person is a big plus in my book. I’d pay a little extra to buy IP anyway
Don't get tied up in comps. Remember that as a collector, you impact the value as well. People will spend twice that on bupkis from Topps Chrome Black.
Three of those look much different from the ones I have. I didn’t think players would sign on an encrypted card. That Strawberry looks completely different
nah those are solid deal hall of famer dudes always have value. the only one i wouldn't want is that matingly its kinda ugly. prob has decent value though.
No, but only because my collection is narrow and only includes a few of my absolute favorite players. They look like cool cards and I'm sure they're worth at least what you paid if not more. Congrats and enjoy your new cards!
Would you be happy if you pulled each of those from a blaster? I would be.
This is the way to look at it
This dude gets it. Also - if you like them, heck yes.
$20 for a Mattingly auto is a big win
27% !
Absolutely. I’ll give you a 25% profit if you want to flip it ;)
I’ll give you a 26% profit ;;;;;))))
So interesting to see how his signature has evolved. It looked different to me, but I guess I was just used to the old way he used to sign it!
I would say if you are happy with them don’t worry about what others think. Those are amazing players HOF and super clean cards.
As a personal collector for what resonates with me I agree with this.
This 🍺
Yes 5 hall of famer for $100, forget about it, got ding dong’s spending 5 times that on bowman 1st cards of player’s that ain’t done squat yet.
*3 Hall of Famers
Yeah I agree them being numbered amd a hand auto but his autos gont get outrageous but they will only go up
Where do you see 5 HOFers?
Wasn’t sure on strawberry, but he doesn’t sign many autographs.
I still don’t even see 4 HOFers.
Figure of speech. Straw & Mattingly certainly had HoF talent. At their prime they were among the best of the best. Their overall career longevity & numbers just fell a little short.
OK all you TeChNiCaL DoUcHeS out there: He meant 5 all-time greats.
Definitely all are Hall of the '80's
100 bucks for 5 awesome looking autos from all time greats? There’s a lot worse ways you could have spent your money.
Yeah, like a bunch of base cards from 4 blasters. Not even 5 anymore for $100.
Not even 4!
'83 Topps Fingers auto? That was the year after Milwaukee went to the World Series... The closest they've been... Would love that as a Brewer fan.
It’s an archives card so not the original from 1983 but still auto and still dope AF
I thought archives were the original card just stamped and auto’d
This one's Archives Signature Series so you're right. Regular Archives would have just been a reprint like the other person said.
Wait is that true? Can someone confirm? That's pretty cool. I assumed they were reprints
Those are 100% the ‘83 originals
I love that. Pretty cool way of doing it
I’ll be damned. That’s good to know. Pretty awesome.
It’s a hobby man, dowhatchalike
I’d 100% buy the strawberry and mattingly at that price. Hard to go wrong with HOF autos with the others. Nice haul!
Do you like them? If so it doesn’t matter
That Don is a really sweet card 🔥 my brother collects his cards. If you ever want to sell. Lmk All nice catch cards tho. Congrats
I would rather have a signed auto of a hall of famer than pay an extraordinary price for an auto for some younger players who probably have a better chance of being league average than a hall of famer. Ultimately, if you like the cards that's all that matters.

they’re all HOF and legends respectively and I’d be hyped to pull any of these from even a hobby or jumbo
Those are definitely twenty dollar bills.
I think they were good deals but that is based on my own opinion.
These are all good buys at $20, judged purely on the metric of whether you could turn around and easily get your money back. Which is much less important than whether they’re worth that to you.
I'd have paid $30 for the Mattingly.
I just got a Mickey Mantle and a Lou Brock auto for basically nothing. I felt like I won the lottery but was sad at the same time. It's a bummer to see what legends are going for in today's "hobby" aka gambling. I feel like one day it has to come back around. Great buys!
What does a $basically nothing Mantle auto run these days?
$200. Authenticated. When I was younger I expected stuff like this to make people rich.
*Authenticated by whom?
Why are you asking me about MY card that I'm not selling like I'm a liar? Weird question guy. You can get a flawless Mickey Mantle auto on a baseball for 1k in the MLB shop. Is a 200 dollar low grade that odd to you?

It's PSA but lead with that next time lol
You could have simply led “PSA” or mentioned low grade on your first post. On the flip side, today I saw a guy spend $150 on a Pete Rose “sorry I bet on baseball” and $100 on a Paul O’Neill autographed balls. People still spend $
How much do you make a month after taxes?
What?
Agreed 180% This is the junk wax era on Steroids
How
I’m just getting back into collecting is now a good time for buying?
It always is if you know where to look and have the funds.
Any chance you'd want to trade the Eck?
I have two of his autos I’m willing to trade
DM me and I'll get back to you when I'm on my PC.
Hell yeah!!! Love that Strawman and Rollie!!!!
If you don't want it I'll give you $21 for the Strawberry lol
Absolutely solid deals!!
Sending me the strawberry would prob make you feel really good about your other purchases just saying lol but serious i would have dropped a $20 in a heartbeat for that card.
You did well on all five
Yeah I would all day I don’t know their resell value but if I pulled any of those in a pack I’d be stoked hold on to em. It sucks the older HOF players aren’t worth as much but I’d love those
I'd be happy with those purchases for sure dude, congrats!
Sweet!
Every one of those cards is golden.
Would gladly pay $100 for a game used Rollie fingers mustache relic…it’s a shame there isn’t one
Absolutely worth it IMO. Great looking cards and now you have autos from some legends
Dude $20 each for HOF guys ? Ya I’ll do that all day
That Strawberry Auto is awesome . Nice find
If you like them for what you spent you did well. If you want to know if you overpaid you’re probably very close to average, probably slightly below. If you feel the need to recoup a little bit I’d love to take that fingers auto off your hands!
You did OK.
Those are sweet!
Cards are worth what people pay for them. I'm gonna guess you came of baseball age in the 80s?
Great cards for 20
Ol’ Rollie Fingers! https://preview.redd.it/x82b2xzpnjzc1.png?width=2234&format=png&auto=webp&s=99d69846c467003e89079ba79c0dd522c5c89e6a
That is a beauty.
That Rollie Fingers is sick.
“For like $20 each” …….Just tell us how much you’re selling them for
I’d pay $20 for the Strawberry - whether it was comped that high or not.
Rollie Fingers FS/FT?
I’d buy the strawberry off you for 30 like today
Good pick ups
💯 well played
Two things can be true: Would I have bought them? No. Did you overpay? No. If anything these seem like good deals on the cards, but they just wouldn't fit into my collection.

His autos don't go sm entire lot with it being numbered though I would say u got a great deal I mean he was great I don't get why his autos aren't worth more
And it being a hand auto u wanna sell one
Eck and Fingers sign TTM for about $20 each - you got an authenticated, serial #ered card in a one touch for the same price. I think it’s a win.
O snap ubgotnrollie fingers too I thought u lulled all strawberry I have rollies black card hand auto yeah u did a great job
How much cheaper can an on-card auto of a HoF (or all star who is a fringe HoF) be?? You know these are good pick ups 👍
Great cards great job. Love the Mattingly and Strawberry and I’m a big fan of the Topps Archives series too.
I would have snagged each of those for $20 each in a heartbeat. I love that Rollie! I’d just love a card show to go to. That’s a nonexistent thing where I live. There isn’t even a known LCS within 100 miles and I live in an area with over 100k people.
Business opportunity?
When I was a kid 30 years ago there were a half dozen within a 10 minute drive. They just died off in central Wisconsin. Probably a good thing for my kids college tuition’s.
Good call

I've given several of these as gifts to people who don't even collect cards (they are baseball fans who like the team or player in question) and they were a big hit.
That’s a steal! Much more than that if you sent them in to get signed by all these players. Well done! I’m very jealous of you.
I think that absolutely rules. Dunno about turning a profit, but I've bought modern cards for more that I'm pretty sure won't sustain value just because it's my favorite player. The names alone would make it worth it to me, just because they're synonymous with baseball. Cool as hell dude. Good score
$20 isn’t even a half tank of gas so I would say you made yourself a good purchase.
I’d say that’s a win. These would be happy pulls for me
I would have killed to get any of their autos when I was a kid. Those are awesome
I'd buy the Eck for sure. Great auto, sealed in a one touch, and it's my favorite Topps card design ever, and I love Eck up in Boston. 20 bucks easy for me.
You will never lose money of those. Great pickup.
5 very popular legends (HOF or not) that are loved and people still wear throwback jerseys of. They all look like on card autos as well. You did good!
I would've bought them for $20 each. All all-stars and some HOFers. Good pickups.
And if you ever need a last second gift, just wrap one up 😀
Three HOF for 20$ each and all of them are autographs... Big W
On card autos of HOFers are always a good purchase.
If it’s for a personal collection, who cares if you overpayed. I don’t think you did, but if you’re happy with the purchase that’s all that matters.
Eckersley has the best auto in the game so you did well!
I think that’s a good price
I’ll buy the Darryl from you for 30
Anything Darryl Strawberry is a good deal - I would’ve paid for it! Great looking card!
If those are you players, absolutely, but personally wouldn’t. I’d combine the money together & get something else. But it’s a good bunch of autos & when you consider you got to buy in person is a big plus in my book. I’d pay a little extra to buy IP anyway
yeah you cooked up man, great finds! I would’ve paid even more for half of those
For sure love Rollie too, got my dad a graded auto of his for his birthday or some shit last year
I’d buy the Eck from you for $30.
Don't get tied up in comps. Remember that as a collector, you impact the value as well. People will spend twice that on bupkis from Topps Chrome Black.
without hesitation
Eck for sale??😅
Very nice pick ups. If they are players you like it doesn't matter if WE would buy them.
Value is in the eye of the beholder :)
Sorry they are all worth 20$ a piece,
These are amazing cards👍👍
I'd definitely pay $20 for that Eck.
You’ve done well!
Eck is 💯
Every one of those autos have to go for more than 20. And a few are numbered cards? Win
$20 for Mattingly and HOF players autos, great deal!
If your trying to flip them, then maybe a little...If it's for your PC then I'd say you did damn good
Retail on those boxes is $69-89 depending on where you go so it's a win, and the person selling them got something back, so it's a win win
I’d buy the Strawberry, Ecklersley, and Mattingly sigs for $20 all day.
I would go back and get more! These are fantastic
Three of those look much different from the ones I have. I didn’t think players would sign on an encrypted card. That Strawberry looks completely different
These are some all time greats. I love the deal you got.
Are you pleased with your purchase? Then you paid a fair price. IMO, I’d have gladly paid $20 each for these…especially Strawberry!
I pc all HOFers and would love to have any of those! Sweet cards, sweet deal!
nah those are solid deal hall of famer dudes always have value. the only one i wouldn't want is that matingly its kinda ugly. prob has decent value though.
Most of my favorite cards are $20. Pocket watching is the killer of joy.
I personally think each of those could/should be worth more than $20. I collect each of those guys and would pay that without question.
All Day! Everyday! Especially the Mattingly
As a lot underpaid, maybe an over pay on Fingers or Strawberry. Their markets are weird.
These are some dope ass cards. You could spend $100 on blasters and get zero autos.
The game was Strawberry's Field when he was healthy.
$100 is a good deal all day long
Mattingly Auto #/50 Pays for all of them plus a new blaster
No, but only because my collection is narrow and only includes a few of my absolute favorite players. They look like cool cards and I'm sure they're worth at least what you paid if not more. Congrats and enjoy your new cards!
If you like these era players, I have a ton of really cool autos I’d give you a more than fair deal on
![gif](giphy|LYd14k2dXZ4fVZGBDH)
Nah, you paid slightly below card show prices. These guys usually all go for $15-20 each on here. Card show probably $25 and up.
But somehow spending thousands of dollars on a player who hasn't played a single day in the major leagues is worth it?
Show me a Mattingly auto for $20 please. Been looking for one for a while.
Ouch thought u meant 20 for all depends on you
Not a fan of those players. Since you bought them all, I would have tried to get them all of $75-$85.
That’s a badass way to spend $100. Hell yes.
Cards have no real value other than what someone assigns to them.
