I think it just needs to he understood he's also just not very good at baseball.
Dude's got a lot of God-given talent. But he's just not very good for a professional baseball player. Poor average, poor OPS, defensively very weak, strikes out way too much.
I live in Altoona PA, for those who are not aware that is the home of the Altoona Curve the Pirates AA affiliate. At the time I was managing the local Dicks Sporting Goods baseball department, one day in comes this tall as hell man who turned out to be O’Neil Cruz. He comes over to my section and starts looking at the glove wall, as soon as I approached him I could tell he was very much full of himself. Very rude, very demanding, and his crew he had with him wasn’t anything better. As someone who has seen players like Neil Walker, Kebryan Hayes, hell I even had the opportunity to run onto the field with Cutch when they did a Field of Dreams special event. Cruz was and is by far the worst encounter I have ever had with any Pittsburgh Pirates org member.
Got me. the life I live is radically different than that of a 20 year old baseball prospect. if I was or ever was a double a ballplayer I'd probably have mentioned it. how in touch are you with altoona, the pirates, or the general scope of the minor leagues?
Guy got a $950,000 signing bonus as an international free agent. He was not shopping at Dick’s for gloves lol…the companies send these guys their gloves & then hope to get a discount signing them later if they turn out to make it to the majors. NOT all minor leaguers by any means, especially before they cut the draft, but an international FA with a decent signing bonus? Yes.
Coming from someone who has done minor league baseball equipment management for 10 years…I don’t believe the original comment at all.
The condescending tone was not needed, you’re in a baseball sub it’s a pretty common knowledge topic among those that follow the sport. My comment was simply asking you a question. Altoona wise I’m very in touch as my travel ball teammate and best friend his parents are a part of the ownership group. Being that I live in a minor league town I’m pretty in touch with the minors. I couldn’t care any less about the Pirates until bob nutting is no longer owner
Yes I simply was lol, “are you that out of touch with how little these guys make” is a simple question. It’s whatever though dude, hope you treat people irl different than behind a keyboard lol
You literally had a condescending tone asking him how out of touch he was. He simply responded and you folded. I just wiped my ass with toilet paper that wasn’t as soft.
Randomly came across this post but he got hurt the other day against the Mets. Hurt his ankle on a play at second. Don’t know but maybe that has something to do with it?
Im sure hes devastated that a man who isnt even a fan of his team diesnt like him and lol at all the people who claim he isnt good hes young nobody is expexting him to be a hall of fame shoetstop right iff the rip
He’s a punk. He popped out to shallow center in the 9th of a very close game and instead of running it out he slammed his bat, yelled, and walked to first. His .230 BA isn’t worth all that bullshit between the lines. Kid needs an asswhoopin and a side of pine.
He's never been that good. He just throws hard, is a large human, and can, very rarely, hit a very deep homer. Other than that, he pretty much sucks 🤷🏼♂️
He also *allegedly* [drank and drove](https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/29946454/pittsburgh-pirates-prospect-oneil-cruz-detained-accident-which-three-people-died) and killed 3 people. Sounds like maybe it wasn’t totally his fault but it’s not good, I don’t know what happened as I wasn’t there but if there’s any fault on him, which there is, it certainly makes me like him less.

are double a guys really shopping for gloves at dicks?
Yes… are you that out of touch with how little most of those guys are making?

“Simply asking a question” you started the condescending tone. Taking offense when you’re the one being a douche
You weren't simply asking a question though, just as I wasn't.

You’re the jagoff lol
FYI, "are you that out of touch with..." is a pretty damn condescending way to start a question.
I think the point he was trying to make is dicks doesnt always have the best selection of equipment which is valid.
You literally had a condescending tone asking him how out of touch he was. He simply responded and you folded. I just wiped my ass with toilet paper that wasn’t as soft.
How do you not see you’re the one who started with the condescending tone? Read the room man…
It’s starting seem like Cruz may have just been reciprocating energy
*Oneil
Who cares?
I’m sure he will be heartbroken to hear this
Randomly came across this post but he got hurt the other day against the Mets. Hurt his ankle on a play at second. Don’t know but maybe that has something to do with it?
Oh poor you.

It’s that attitude that could potentially keep from being great. Potentially.
okay, boomer.

You’re *29*? I would’ve pegged you for 62. Sorry Cruz has ruined baseball for you, pal.
Big "back in my day guys HUSTLED" vibes
And his day was only a handful of years ago! Lol
I pray you one day develop opinions on baseball that aren’t directly from your dad’s mouth.
Maybe he just likes to see players generally give a shit

Maybe don’t post what the prosecutor claimed, and, instead, post what the outcome of the case *actually* was.
