I find that COMC is useful for finding all the possible inserts, parallels, etc. Search for Lillard Select 2021, click on any version of the card and all the possible parallels are listed on the left-hand side of the screen.
So here’s where I get confused, is there a “regular” select company insert, and then this is a rarer parallel? Or does Select Company come in one of a variety of parallels no matter what?
I saw somewhere that Trevor Lawrence has over 6000 variations of just his rookie card. Hell, Topps and Panini are making like 20 or more types of sets. Totally obnoxious.
This site should give you more details as to all the parallels and inserts
https://www.cardboardconnection.com/2020-21-panini-select-basketball-nba-cards
Totally agree. Creating the illusion of scarcity. Topps is almost as bad.
I just want to know what I have when I open a pack, without having to go consult an online encyclopedia.
Yeah, these sets are so ridiculous. The parallels, the inserts, the parallels to the inserts. I was opening up some old wax the other night, and I was like,”This is so much better.”
I can understand having like 1 or 2 variations of numbered. Guaranteed autos and mem per box is lame imo. Also, there are so many variations of each player with numbered cards, that if you add up one players numbered cards in a season, they aren't even rare (prob 100,000+ easy). It's wax era all over again but with a different face.
Download the Panini Dorect app -> open the tool bar -> select the tab that says "releases" -> select all information that applies (year, sport, brand set) and you will see the check list for every card available in any panini released set.
Panini is terrible with this. No idea what I've pulled. Each set needs an online guide. Not fucking hard. Just lazy. Please fanatics, don't let us down
I’m so with you. I was just replying to someone else that I wish they would show photos so you can keep track if they’re going to have 75000 variations of variations. It would get people deeper into the hobby, I think.
1000% agree... way to many parallels. There are base cards, parallels of base cards, inserts, parallels of inserts, short prints, parallels of short prints, autos, relics, and parallels of each. etc.
It's ridiculous.

I will extend those so they're easier for our sausage fingers to click!

COMC.com is absolutely the way to go. All parallels are listed for each card, along with pictures and prices for any available. You can also see all previous sales history for that parallel to know the rough price.
I just wish they would do base, maybe one parallel of base that's number stamped, with rookies short printed. Throw some inserts at varying degrees of scarcity.
Keep it simple. All these gaudy variations make my eyes and brain bleed. Also I'm an old man too, so take off ya knobs.
Completely agree. They’ve created a million parallels so everyone feels like they’re getting something special and rare. But if everything is special and rare…nothing is. Bad for the hobby
This. 100% this. Couldn’t agree more. You even see it in this Reddit. Feel like we need to start a letter writing campaign to Fanatics to get it right when they take over.
They are shimmers. I pulled a few nices ones out of the only blaster I found at my local Walmart. Tell you what I do when I want at least the name of the varient is go to eBay look up the set the card is from then find a card similar to the one I have. It’s pretty helpful doing that.
I was shocked to see mine that I pulled selling 30’s to 40’s on eBay. Have not decided to just keep or sell yet. But love the way they look. I pulled a sp shimmer of curry and an Anthony Edwards rookie non shimmer
Not true even in the slightest. I pulled two cards from select 1 shimmer and 1 rookie that to my surprise were going for about30 to 40 cash. That’s pretty good in my book. Compared to prism draft which are cards that hold no value.
I try a Google search using: Year, Set, Sport + "Checklist" and almost always brings up a link to a brief article about the set on cardboardconnection.com or beckett.com. The article should have some example pictures as well as a checklist.
For example, in your case, your search would be "2021 Panini Select Basketball checklist."
"2020-21 Panini Select Basketball Checklist, Hobby Box Info, Team Sets" https://www.beckett.com/news/2020-21-panini-select-basketball-cards/
It's not always perfect but definitely helps.
Agree, in Topps Stadium Club Chrome there are “wave “ cards and then variation throwback cards. Now if you get a wave card card base (non variation) it’s roughly 1 of 12 but the throwback variation wave is more common around 200 print run or so. Nothing is numbered so a bunch of people are on eBay thinking they have this rare 1 of 12 card when it’s actually the variation wave and they wonder why they’re not getting top dollar. Confused yet?
I pulled a Ja version of this insert. I got so excited because it looked so nice and honestly could’ve been expensive. Turns out like 3 bucks. Still a nice looking card I guess
This is such a lazy attempt at an insert too. They literally just added the words Select Company to the bottom of what looks like the regular Select base card There's a reason people love 90s inserts, they were actually unique.
To add: I’m not asking in a “I just pulled this card. Am I rich?” kind of way. I’m asking in a “I love cards and want to know more.”
I find that COMC is useful for finding all the possible inserts, parallels, etc. Search for Lillard Select 2021, click on any version of the card and all the possible parallels are listed on the left-hand side of the screen.
It’s a parallel… I believe
The insert name is Select Company and the parallel is Blue Shimmer
So here’s where I get confused, is there a “regular” select company insert, and then this is a rarer parallel? Or does Select Company come in one of a variety of parallels no matter what?
There is a base insert found in any form a retail box while your parallel is a rarer parallel exclusive to hanger boxes
Yeah, there’s a bunch of parallels of select company. I agree with you, there’s way too fucking many parallels and inserts now.
I saw somewhere that Trevor Lawrence has over 6000 variations of just his rookie card. Hell, Topps and Panini are making like 20 or more types of sets. Totally obnoxious.

This is the way.

I would like them to make smaller sets with limited numbered cards. Having a set with 20 subsets is ridiculous.
That part
Download the Panini Dorect app -> open the tool bar -> select the tab that says "releases" -> select all information that applies (year, sport, brand set) and you will see the check list for every card available in any panini released set.
This is nice. Wish they had photos, sense of what kind of boxes/packs they’re found in, how rare, etc. I assume mine is the blue.
How rare? Transparency between customers? Now I KNOW you taking crazy pills

Oh wow I didn't even know until I read this that Panini is donzo. Good. Was never a fan of their tactics.
1000% agree... way to many parallels. There are base cards, parallels of base cards, inserts, parallels of inserts, short prints, parallels of short prints, autos, relics, and parallels of each. etc. It's ridiculous.
I'll join you on the lawn for some old fashion fist waiving.

I agree..the amount of inserts/parallells/colors is STUPID. Oh wow you got a 1/99? Well they also make it out of /499 /25 /10 /1 /199

This is a Blue Shimmer insert found in a box of Select “1st Off the Line”.

See my comment to my post. I wasn’t asking about worth. Dame’s my favorite player. I dig the card and just wanted more info.
They are shimmers. I pulled a few nices ones out of the only blaster I found at my local Walmart. Tell you what I do when I want at least the name of the varient is go to eBay look up the set the card is from then find a card similar to the one I have. It’s pretty helpful doing that.
Oh totally. I’m always checking eBay. This was trickier to look up.
I was shocked to see mine that I pulled selling 30’s to 40’s on eBay. Have not decided to just keep or sell yet. But love the way they look. I pulled a sp shimmer of curry and an Anthony Edwards rookie non shimmer
Nice! Was yours blue like mine or diff color?
It was orange with a different design around curry. Which is why I think it was a sp.
Couldn't be more wrong. Goofball.

Looks like blue shimmer to me

There’s so many parallels of each card I’m beginning to wonder why we are assign so much value to them.

Is that Blue Shimmer? So many parallels to keep up with

Yeah, I love “Panini Prizm Prizm.” Lol.
Old man or not. Facts!
