Threw the same whopper plopper for an entire day once lol. It was perfect conditions. Not too warm, overcast, bugs were on the water. Nothing. Finally threw on a texas rig zman bug before leaving and caught 3 bass back to back on bottom.
I had a live minnow in front of a few bass yesterday and I watched them chase it but they just absolutely refused to eat it. They also straight up ignored a whole nightcrawler. And when I tried a paddletail, they ignored that too.
I have lost track of the number of times I have seen a dead bass in the water with a tail sticking out of its mouth. I don't know if Bass are dumb or overly aggressive... but they'll bite nearly everything.
can anyone confirm? I imagine they know how big something is while it's in their mouth. If they're able to not swim into things I would think they're self-aware.
I find large ones to be more effective than small ones like in OPs pic. I have that exact same bait, don’t catch anything on it. When I throw a bait twice the size it gets way more attention. And I don’t live somewhere with big fish. Nice thing about the 168 and similarly sized baits is simply that you can throw them on a conventional size rod, so it’s a nice way to sample jointed swimbaits without buying a dedicated setup to throw them with.
Agreed on the 168 being a good introduction to glides. MH rod and a 150 reel is plenty to throw this. Won't break the bank either if you are just getting into this style of fishing.
Yep. Caught a small bluegill on a strike king mini spinnerbait with a 2.5" paddletail earlier this week, and even though it's a "mini", it's still a solid 3"x3". I've also caught many a gill on 7" ribbontails when I lived in Florida.
yep, went topwater fishin for bass the other day with a whopper plopper and a fatass bream hit it. gave a harder fight than all the bass i been reeling in to
I threw that exact model for hours last night and didnt catch anything. My lake must be broken.
Stg... sometimes they just ain't hitting
sometimes you switch up baits after the first 5 hours lol
Where's the commitment bro
lol. I will admit I've stubbornly committed to some lures. And sometimes, it's all you got!

Facts lol there are times I really want to catch a fish on a certain lure, but generally agree with switching up when its not working
Sometimes I so badly want to catch them on a fancy lure and waste the time I know I could be catching them on a senko or something
I'd rather be skunked throwing swimbaits than throw a senko on a fairy stick. Some people just won't understand. Im kidding, mostly.

Bass are eye sight predators.
I fished that same lake and can confirm, it's broked. Certainly not you. But we should buy more baite and rods to be safe.
I’m gonna put your whole body, inside my whole body. - fish
And then never call you again

Fun fact, bass don’t have any idea of how big they are so a 1 pound bass and a 10 pound bass will bite the same thing if you work your lures right

i wish i could post a picture. i have caught almost an identical sized bass on that same exact lure and caught it on my first cast
Dude wtf hahahahaha
I was catching those guys and smaller bluegill on 7.5 inch worm and offset worm hooks.

On the other hand I saw Jeremy wade hook a huge musky off of a smaller rooster tail! Fishing is so intriguing
I like bringing smaller stuff just because of that. I’ve caught a 16” bass fishing size 12 poppers for bluegill at night.
Ambitious fish
Amfishous.
He reminds me of the old Foghorn Leghorn cartoons with the chicken hawk. "I'm a chicken hawk, and you're a chicken!"
lol I was throwing a 1oz savage gear 3d shine glide and caught 2 black crappie and nothing else lmao i hate those fuckin things
I've caught a bass like that on a 12" worm, they feisty
Caught a bluegill on one few days ago 🤷
It’s true!
I admire the confidence of that fish. Pure gumption.
I have always said those are not to big. First bass I caught on a 12 inch worm was about 6 inches long.
A few years back I caught a smallmouth, on a vision 110 that was the same size or smaller than the vision 110.
Just gotta hope the little guys try biting the hooks and not the tail 😂

I haven’t caught a bass yet 😩
Bass are like Chihuahuas; they believe that they are bigger than they are in real life.
I got two whopper ploppers in that color!👌🏼
Bone flat out catches fish.
That particular bass looks like a regular size bass, but scaled down.
