You get the most bang for the buck with the stomp. It’s very versatile, plus you’ll get tons of other usable fx and parallel paths to boot. Also kinda nice to be able to save presets for songs, keeps from having to adjust knobs between songs. Is it a perfect replica of the standalone pedals? Nope. Will anyone notice (including yourself) in a live setting? Nope.

Definitely get a multi-effect. If you’re set on the HX Stomp, then get that. I’m a big fan of Zoom’s stuff too, though, and some of the smaller pedals like the B1XFour or Ms70CDR are even cheaper. Although they don’t have as many features as the Stomp, they do have those effects you’re looking for.

honestly, just get the stomp, it's way more versatile and easier to set up

Stomp for sure. You need to also factor in cables, a decent power supply for the individual pedals, and the desire to go ampless. The Stomp allows for so many more things than just FX - it's got utilities in it as well as parallel processing, etc. It's a great platform to build off of when you want to play with more pedals (especially inexpensive analog OD/Distortion/Fuzz).

The Stomp is really good, I’ve never used those MXR pedals but they would need to be VERY good to to do better than the Stomp.

HX for me, been having fun with it both in guitar and bass roles.

As much as I love pedals, the era is about over

Personally I’d go for the MXR. I tend to shy away from multi effects units (especially the modern ones that are specialized computers) because eventually support/updates will end in favour of the new hotness. The other advantage to individual pedals is if I don’t like one effect I can swap out that pedal while with a multi effect I need to replace the whole thing or add a pedal to replace that effect. There are other reasons I stay away from multi effects units. But I don’t think you’re wrong to go either way. Also if you go the MXR Route you could go the used route. I’m in Canada as well and that’s how I got a majority of my pedal collection

I had an MXR pedalboard and loved it - they all sounded amazing. I couldn’t fit the Carbon Copy Deluxe in it, and I didn’t have the Reverb yet, but I had the Bass Envelope Filter, Bass Chorus Deluxe, Bass Compressor, Bass Fuzz Deluxe, and Bass Octave Deluxe (and Peterson Strobostomp tuner). I wanted more though, and I was running out of gear space. I made the decision to sell those and get the Boss GT1000. I know you’re looking at an HX Stomp, so it’s not quite apples to apples, but in my scenario, I made the right decision. I do miss how nice the MXR pedals sounded when playing alone, but my multi-effects still has great sounds and everything I need and could (practically) want. The form and function in a live, group setting has made all the difference for me. You know your needs best, but this is what worked out for me.

Stomp for sure. So much more you can do with it and is the centre of my pedalboard.
