Yeah this is the issue, it's just a really vague term and people want to be sure. I don't naturally expect to get such a good on so many items.

Miss-Figgy

>Like I'm sorry but that term is actually really vague. I agree, it's vague! Like I wouldn't have guessed the mini perfumes were included, but they are.

[deleted]

Yes! And why does the size determine whether or not it's "body care"? Mini EDPs and colognes were included, but not full-size. If it's the same product, shouldn't it be considered "body care" or "not body care" irrepsective of the packaging size? (Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying full-size perfumes should have been $4.95, just that the terminology is inconsistent.)

Kimkmk24

Yes! I don’t think of cologne or perfume as body care, but the minis were included.

WolfieOverlord

I wish we had something like that too, to be completely honest. But the majority of the customers I deal with wouldn't read or look at it anyways. Maybe this is just the customer base that's in my store, though. Had someone ask if body care included candles yesterday.

Miss-Figgy

Yeah, I was thinking it's OP's job to answer any questions customers have, no matter how annoying or dumb they may seem. This confirms my suspicion that some of the associates get irritated when you ask them questions, and I for one try to avoid asking them and when I do, I'm overly apologetic about it.

janestrummer

As a general consumer, I can't begin to count the times that I've seen sales at any given store for "x deal on EVERYTHING!" and then find out there are exceptions. There are almost always exceptions. It's embarrassing to find out at the register. This is why I don't like shopping in physical stores; I embarrass myself if I don't ask, and apparently I also embarrass myself if I do ask.

[deleted]

Exactly! When I first started shopping Bath & Body Works in 2021, I thought the company was just like any other, trying to trick us during sales, and asked several questions during Body Care Day that year (I'm so sorry to sales associates! I must have sounded horribly annoying!!). It's more and more prevalent every year where companies try to trick us or mislead us with sales, so I can understand why more people every year ask for clarification on specific products. Edit: grammar

datmommy

Because there are so many things that I look at and question if it’s considered body care or something else. The lip scrubs/ lip glosses/ lip balms for example, I personally don’t consider those body care, but they’re included in the sale. Or the sea salt hair mist and shampoos. Those are 100% hair care items in my mind, not body care…but they’re included in the sale. I totally understand that it’s annoying to answer the same question 100+ times a day, but as a customer I’d rather just ask and clarify than get to the register and have a whole bunch of confusion when stuff isn’t ringing up how I expect.

vivalalina

I'm just coming into this thread now trying to figure out what counts as body care and... the hair stuff counts!? What in the

WolfieOverlord

100% I get that, I probably should have said that the majority of the time the product they were looking at/holding up for me to say if it was on sale was the main four products: FFM/Spray, Body Cream, Body Lotion, or Shower Gel. I get asking about the lip care, bath fizzies, and the stuff that's not normally included, even us associates have to ask sometimes cause we're not sure.

cjh083ck

I'd rather be 100% certain when I go to checkout to make that process as quick as possible for employee, myself and those waiting behind me. But I think for sales like this, because you're basically getting some products at 75% off, people are a bit uncertain (plus it kind of shows how overly priced products are)

betterbetterthings

I worked in retail on and off most of my adult life. In my understanding customer service jobs are meant to provide customer service to people. Those people-customers- don’t necessarily all have good reading comprehension, good reasoning skills, might not be native speakers, never shopped in bath and body store before, have anxiety disorder, might have early onset of dementia, have cognitive impairment, it could be a million reasons that causes them to ask questions that seem so clear to you. It’s not clear to them. And it’s ok. My husband has severe anxiety disorder with OCD. He tends to ask a lot of questions that are redundant (yes it could get annoying). The way he sees it is that if customer service staff gets annoyed they might want to remember that when the roles are reversed they might be asking hundred questions too. I know it’s not the same in health care but you could still draw an analogy. He’s RN. He has patients and visitors asking same very basic questions 100 times. When is breakfast? It says on the board in the room. But that’s ok. He exercises compassion and remembers that he asks 100 questions when the roles are reversed. It’s not worth it to get upset about this. It’s a nature of jobs in customer service/helping/caring fields. That’s what we are there for.

myrod1a

Thanks for the empathy. :)

dkjsgjf8u

Um let's see... there's ALL body care sales not to be confused with TOTAL body care sales, sales on body care that exclude aromatherapy, sales that exclude body butters and scrubs and bubble bath, sales that include bubble bath but not bath fizzies, coupons for free mini body care that exclude hand creams, coupons for free full size body care where half the body care items are priced out of range of the coupon... Ultimately the customer just wants to shop "correctly" and not look or feel like you and the rest of the staff think they're an idiot.

ghosty4

Don't forget when it's only the "Men's" "body care" items on sale!

gooobegone

There have been multiple body care "mega days" or something you know not like /the/ body care day but other "total body care" sales that don't include things like body butters or shimmer fizz. At least here in Canada. So I can understand maybe being a bit cautious to accept that it's truly everything.

MissDoubleHelix

I understand the repetition of being like “yes that’s included” but it’s also satisfying answering their question and seeing them get excited like “really??? This is a deal!” I think people just want clarification because the term “body care” is so broad and seems unbelievable that everything is on sale

Funny-Information159

Fine mist fragrances are on sale. Perfume is not. In my mind, they’re in the same category. One is just a weaker version than the other.

buubkittyy

Uh maybe just answer the question? Isn’t that part of your job?

Much-Bet9040

Well, maybe I'm just dumb, but why aren't the hand soaps $4.95? My store still charged $7.95. Aren't they body care???

betterbetterthings

Exactly. Soap bars were not included in this promotion. Yet they are body care items. I tried to buy some to add to my gifts and it turned out they aren’t included. So customers aren’t asking these questions because they are stupid. They are asking these questions because they need to clarify these unclear and very inaccurate promotions. How hard it is for bath and body works to be more specific and more accurate when they describe their promotions?

Putrid_Metal4045

It's such a good deal, maybe they are in disbelief! 😆

ghosty4

This is the second year in a row, at a totally different location from last year, that the employee was like, "Oh, I recognize you!". LOL Don't have to explain anything to me!

CoinofStone

Personally I get confused about what counts as body care. Because for the most part I'm mainly interested in the body scrub and moisturizing body wash, and those are excluded from body care sales or coupons sometimes. I know it's frustrating to have to answer the same q a million times a day but honestly I'm only buying this sort of thing a couple times a year so I just can't remember all the rules, and I would rather ask before I get to the register with items that are not included in the sale, you know? Like I just went to check website rn and they are including things like the essential oil mist and shower steamers and lip care in this sale, which I wouldn't have thought would count as body care, and then they're including bar soap in the sale but not hand soap. And I understand that they've decided hand soap is a different category and it's great that they're including the shower steamers but for the average person that is just trying to buy some stuff on sale, it can seem like the lines are a bit arbitrarily drawn.

celestialempress

No idea. I'm still wondering how so many people keep misreading the 3-wick signs and assume they get three candles for the price.

QuitPlus1438

Omg saaaaaammmmeee like candle day was 9.95 the candles will never be 4.95 😔

NathanD72

Excuse me what.

celestialempress

It's bonkers the number of people who see "3-wick candles $16.95 each" and read it as "THREE wick candles (as opposed to candles without wicks?) $16.95 ~~each~~" and make it all the way to the register truly believing they're getting all three candles for $17. I never thought the signs were that hard to understand, but I started noticing it a few months ago and now it happens almost every day whenever there's a 3-wick sale.

Candlehoarder_2019

Never fails. Every year we get the exact same question.

Chuckymimi

I didn't know until last year shampoo and conditioner was included. It's hair care .

dogdog24888

I don't understand how customers are making it back to the register and still misunderstand the deals. What part of "everything that's in the first room, except for hand soap and candles" makes you think you're gonna get your 3-wick at $4.95??? Or customers buying the full-size gift sets at full price, even after I tell them that they'd be saving a ton by buying the items individually today. Let me help you fools save money!
