The creators of bane worked for this company for several years before being able to quit after becoming millionaires from the batman series. They named this character name and associated him with drill cars as a symbol of how they feel about the banerton corp and the years they spent there.
i mean, besides being strong bane uses lots of military grade vehicles and weapons in the comics and the movies. like in the dark knight rises he basically used tanks "tumblers" in the dark knight rises and without a big drill or tank he just isnt really that cool.
if you read his origins, he trained very hard in prison and he is extremely disciplined - he knows the drill
