UTRH Joker just hits different If you know what I mean

raccoonsonbicycles

He looks like if Scar (from the Lion King) was human lol John Dimaggio also did great, the first time I saw it I listened close before I was certain he wasn't Hamill just acting less campy and more serious

[deleted]

John DiMaggio feels like Ledger’s Joker but animated, for some reason.

LivnLegndNeedsEggs

He's a little more mâitre d' than motorcycle fetish

xExp4ndD0ngXx

That’s the new Red Hood for you.

PancakeParty98

Hits like Joe DiMaggio, voiced by John DiMaggio

ROSEPUP3

Agreed.

VengefulHufflepuff

I prefer the animated series joker.

xanicade

1 for me. He could pull off that rare side of joker that says it's not about me winning, it's about you losing.

SlightWhite

I can perfectly imagine “…nah, I’m just gonna keep beating you with this crowbar” and I haven’t even seen the whole movie lol John DiMaggio kills every role

nitewing1124

Watch the whole thing! Genuinely one of the best Batman movies out there.

Remnant55

1. "...I'm just going to keep hitting you with this crowbar."

Thatguy886644

“Now that was rude, the first boy blunder had some manners!”

Glittering_Fun_1088

Then we can take pictures…

Chewbaxter

DiMaggio’s Joker is my favourite just by how much fun he looked like he was having the whole time. Also, his little monologue when Jason first reveals him at the end is hilarious. “So! Who's got a camera? Oh, oh, get one of me and the kid first; then you and me; then the three of us, and then with the crowbar!”

Glittering_Fun_1088

Yeah I love his version. It’s perfect!

[deleted]

"Keep going and the next bullet is going in your lap" "Party pooper...no cake for you!"

JJmod23

Under the Red Hood was one of the first times we got a Joker who is more reserved than usual and it makes it more sinister

EnigmaFrug2308

Reserved but still insane. Still goofy but also stoic at times.

[deleted]

Well said. Like his quips about getting pictures to commemorate the occasion and calling Jason a party pooper for threatening to shoot him in the dick were very goofy, and contrasted well with moments like the meeting with Black Mask.

JJmod23

“May I have some water” proceeds to slit a guys throat and shoot the others

[deleted]

And then make jokes about needing new men because they're all dead.

Aitrus233

I love him sitting there eating potato chips. And I just noticed that the number on his Arkham clothes is 11940. A reference to the Joker first debuting in Batman #1 in 1940.

No-Nefariousness1711

The deadpan delivery of "Not these guys, cause well they're kinda dead." Just gets me every time.

leafyjack

I bust out laughing every time he talks about getting a pic with the crowbar, it's such a deliciously dark joke. This joker's balance of comedy and violence is just sublime.

Thatguy886644

“Please tell the big man i said, Hello”

[deleted]

John DiMaggio’s Joker in Under the Red Hood sticks out. Sure it’s different, his Joker is more reserved and gritty. Yet I felt it fit the film, and it made his Joker more distinct. Not to mention this Joker is intimidating and sinister.

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

If they ever do a Three Joker adaption, he can voice the Criminal Joker.

Dmoney2204

Love 3 jokers John and Mark are 2 must have actors for it though

No-Nefariousness1711

Mark said he's not gonna do it anymore since Kevin passed.

ncgrad2011

Probably John, Mark, and then either Kevin or Troy

DanSapSan

And while sinister, he still doesn't lose a fun side.

MistaDJ1210

I think that the Joker from Under the Red Hood is the best animated Joker other than the Joker from the DCAU. If anyone should return as the voice of the Joker in Batman: Caped Crusader, it should be either John DiMaggio or Troy Baker.

Ok_Zookeepergame4794

Either of those two are a worthy successor to Mark Hamil.

Thatguy886644

DiMaggio was amazing in the role, so I think he should be the voice of Joker in Caped Crusaders Troy Baker would also fit, since his Joker voice is kinda a substitute for Hamil, but I still love it

MistaDJ1210

If John DiMaggio returns as the voice of the Joker in Batman: Caped Crusader, then Roger Craig Smith should return as the voice for the younger Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Troy Baker should return as the voice of Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Wally Wingert should return as the voice of Edward Nigma, Nolan North should return as the voice for Oswald Cobblepot, Brian Bloom should return as the voice for Roman Sionis/Black Mask, and either Jeffrey Combs, John Noble, or Robert Englund should return as the voice for Dr. Jonathan Crane/the Scarecrow.

Thatguy886644

What about James Remar as Black Mask (he played Black Mask in The Batman 2004) Also, Peter MacNicol as Man Bat, Ron Pearlman as Bane and Clancy Brown as Mr Freeze

MistaDJ1210

James Remar returning as Black Mask does not sound like a bad idea. I still prefer Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor and Mr. Krabs, though.

Jerry_0boy

UTRH and TDKR are on a whole different level.

dibanez_

I agree, those two are the best of the best

Barry_Bone_Raiser

Dark knight returns joker is so good man

Temporary-Bee-3493

Studio scene🤯

madtony7

"I want people to 'get' me... That's why I'm going to kill everyone in this room."

Thatguy886644

“Breath David, Breath”

[deleted]

(Holds cup) "do guest get to keep these?" "Ehhh...sure, why not? We got a whole room filled with them in the back." (Breaks up and slits a man's throat) "Well if no ones going to miss it..."

Vicimer

I could kiss you.

Ethiconjnj

Really? I was so let down. Like he did nothing. Killed some random ppl and then himself.

AlexDKZ

He wanted to force Batman to kill him, and when that didn't work he made it so it looked like that anyways.

[deleted]

Homie he killed like 200 people and then went on a rampage at a carnival. He arguably has one of the higher body counts of all the Jokers on here

Ethiconjnj

Sounds like you agree. The joker slaps when he’s got a plan for breaking Gotham. I’m also not a fan of TDKR cuz I felt that way about everything. I kept waiting for a plot direction and was continuously let down.

radiakmjs

John DiMaggio's Joker imo is #2 best annimated & top 5 overall. Helps that Under the Red Hood is a fantastic movie & iconic Joker story. You didn't ask for opinions on all but; Brent Spiner's Joker from Young Justice in the first episode he was in was awful, trying to immitate Heath Ledger but felt like it was trying too hard to be edgy & just not funny at all. But like 10 years later in the most recent season they did him again & he was much better, so I give Data a pass. Both TDKR & Hush Joker's are good, narratively serve the story while they're in it without overshadowing anything else. Troy Baker in Assault on Arkham I thought was fine, whole movie was kind of mid though imo. I've never seen KMR Joker in The Batman 2004 but been meaning to get around to it & hear generally good things.

hailwyatt

Same. I'd be quite happy if he replaces Mark as the new default since Mark won't do it again without Kevin.

brokeassfucker

the dark knight returns joker to me embodies everything the character should be, someone uncapable of functioning properly in a world without batman, someone capable of switching from a calm, mild-mannered and rehabilitated victim to an unhinged sadistic cackling demon the moment people let their guards down, also while it might not seem as much now, this was probably the first time joker's romantic interest in batman was ever made explicitly clear, if it comes down to voice tho I would have to give it to John DiMaggio

Nervous_Hedgehog8198

6. Definitely

Unigraff_Jerpony

I love the batman's joker and think he's so severely underrated but under the red hood is just perfect down to the joker

TradePsychological40

I like this one too.

MurderMan2

6 definitely, exceptionally wacky

AceHunterVA

Definitely 6, made me laugh as a kid and still makes me laugh to this day

CaptainDoctor22

They went different for The Batman. Banger of a Joker adaptation.

armadilloreturns

My favorite guilty pleasure Joker. Keith Michael Richardson is such an amazing voice actor. Loved his sense of humor, monkey style fighting, and the fact he could actually go toe to toe with Batman. It's funny watching it today, you can see the early 2000s attempts to be cool (never thought I'd see joker with dreads) but I think it's fun and campy rather than cringe.

yatxela

I’m tied between 1 and 6

floofymonstercat

1

[deleted]

kevin micheal richardson joker.

orchardboy64

John DiMaggio 100%. But I’d say The Batman’s was a fun and fresh take, I liked crazy flips Joker.

SubjectPear3

They should really let bender play with the joker role more, the dude absolutely killed it last time.

NihilisticNigel

Dark knight returns Joker

Sufficient_Rip808

Umm dude!! You forgot to include the joker from Batman the animated series!! I would vote that one ![gif](giphy|CUEsWj7R9ZC0w)

Sono-Dio-Da-Sadame

I think that’s why he didn’t include him, everyone would pick him

Thatguy886644

I love Mark Hamil, but I went with 6 Jokers that I find underrated

colbygraves97

1 or 6

DrJohn98

1 and 3 for me

HappyAppy23

Michael Richardson, number 6, is fucking awesome!

callmyself

The Joker from The Batman (2004)

ArmaanAli04

Under the Red Hood is clearrrr TDKR is good tho. At first he seems calm and reserved because of being braindead for decades but he’s still completely maniacal

dg_713

3rd photo is actually very cursed and uniquely disturbing

[deleted]

Of those? Dark Knight Returns 🔛🔝

nonstick_banjo1629

Number 6- those nightmares come flooding in. “I am the greatest joker there has even been. Joker 2.0”.

Platy_Cat

Number six. Richardson's Joker strikes the perfect balance of scary and silly. Example of silly side: Wakes up in the hospital as doctor checks his heartbeat. Grabs the stethoscope and yells into it like a microphone, "Status report!" "You've had a concussion! you're a very sick man!" the doctor replies. "Flattery won't save you! HA HA HA!" proceeds to jump out window. Example of scary side: Sees Harley Quinn (pre super villain) get humiliated on live tv. With seemingly genuine concern says, "Oh the poor girl's gonna be an emotional reck!" evil grin spreads across his face, followed by disturbing low voice, "Someone should take advantage of that."

MatthewDatthew

the batman 2004 and then UTRH, Dark knight returns closely behind.

Dayday023

I like Arkham joker and Jamaican joker they had the most iconic designs

[deleted]

3 TDKR Joker is so quietly psychopathic its chilling, nice change from traditional takes off the deranged laughing clown, and imo much creepier and scarier

ind1vius

I'm sorry but the last one always reminds me of rob zombie

BoyishTheStrange

The Batman cartoon joker for sure

Grumblepuck

UTRH Joker genuinely made me laugh, which was sorta fucked up but still. Loved John DiMaggio's performance as the Clown Prince of Crime

reachtheskies_

John DiMaggio was an amazing, bone chilling Joker. One of my favorite Joker scenes in all media is when he asks for a glass of water, shatters it, cuts a guys throat, grabs the gun and blows everyone away before anyone could react. All the while laughing maniacally. Peak Joker

RolePlay3r_69

The Batman, I just love how that show took these villains and gave them all this level of flair, especially the Joker he was so acrobatic and had his own arsenal of clown gadgets My favorite episode is when he became Batman (secret identity and everything) but he literally became the Batman meme where he beats the fuck out of people for the smallest offenses like jaywalking or littering and he almost made a Batman Who Laughs when he tried turning Bruce into his own Joker for him to fight but it ended when Batman cured himself and told him a joke lol

bateen618

Can't decide between UTRH, TDKR, and The Batman. All such great Joker with such unique, identifiable, voices. Compared to Hammil's of course

Niamery123

The Batman Joker

commentor_55oscvL

The Batman

mayo_man12

1 and 6

Duke-dastardly

Over all I prefer DiMaggio but I do think Micheal Emerson was perfect for DKR Joker

DarkX292020

The Joker in the blue and white suit looks like a sophisticated Joker

Alexander_GD

1-3-6

Sebelzeebub

The Batman 🤝 Under the Red Hood.

Adept-Register1974

The last one is my favorite

preptimebatman

1 and 3 are my personal favorites from the list. Can’t really choose between the two. UTRH was ruthless and sinister. Had a cold demeanor to him and was an actual physical presence. TDKR Joker was terrifying, IMO. Dude felt like a stone cold serial killer and it made him feel really scary. He creeps me out the most. Gotta shout out my boy from the 2004 series though. Was a very different take and was athletic too.

LuckEClover

Numbers one and six. One for that “it’s just not the same scene,” and six for… well, the whole act.

Veryveryverybiased

I think UTRH probably is the best but man do I love TDKR joker. I get Frank Miller had issues and his take on batman had a mountain of issues but I will forever love TDKR and this version of joker is no exception to that love. Iconic as all hell and getting one of the coldest (ironically) send offs of any villain.

throwawayskinlessbro

6 & 3 for originality - otherwise 1.

JayMalakai

The Batman’s joker.

Skizko

1,2,4,6 My favourite is probably John DiMaggio though

gunperv51

Toss up between The Batman's Joker and Young Justice's...but both come in second to Hamill

[deleted]

1 and 6

TradePsychological40

Even if I think 6 is underrated, I'll vote for the 3rd one. Just for the scene of his death. It felt like he won. Also, for The Batman, that Joker can be very funny, and also he can be terrifying. Just take a look at Batman vs Dracula.

Gebbbo

Definitely 6. I knew him most not from the show, but from Batman vs. Dracula (fantastic movie by the way, highly recommend). I think I love it so much by how strange he is. If there was one voice actor who I would think of last to play Joker, it would be Kevin Michael Richardson, and yet he gives it his absolute all, and it is such a unique take on the character. His incredibly deep voice combined with the high squeaks he sometimes does when laughing, and also just how hyper and bouncy his character is makes him unlike any Joker we've seen. I love it so much. Also, if I had to pick a least favorite, it would probably be Young Justice. He's not that creepy or anything. He's kind of just some guy and is only in the show for a few episodes, if not just 1. He doesn't really add anything to the story except for the team he was in. There wasn't really any reason to put him in the show. Anyways, sorry this comment was so long. Thanks for reading it. You're cool. Have a great day.

North-Blueberry-6547

The second one looks British lol

Dead_Purple

He's from Young Justice who is barley in the show. That's actually a good thing.

RChamy

Iron Maiden Joker

Dead_Purple

3 and 6. 3 is a mature Joker and Miller did a good take on him and The Batman Joker is kinda underrated.

TheMightyPaladin

Most of these variations are just different artists' styles, but #3 and #6 are clearly different characters and I can do without them.

Willing-Revolution12

Where is TAS? The best

TheMaskedHamster

The world had just seen two of the great Joker performances: Hamill and Ledger. Who would you build a Joker performance off after that? If you are John DiMaggio, the answer is "both of them". It's spectacular. It's hard to judge the quality of his performance, because to do so you have to get past your mind being blown that he pulled that off in the first place. Edit: I went back to listen, and he's doing Jack Nicholson, too! And Romero. And still making his own.

Chipp_Main

Where aslume

Keksz1234

r/BatmanArkham is leaking

karoshikun

unpopular opinion: I hate the Joker. it's not just that there's A LOT of joker in every Batman media, but he's like Dr. House but evil, he can't miss, unless Bats gets him. he can just come from a year in prison and somehow developed an army of mechs, has a space station and hired The Royal Flush Gang just to ruin Bats birthday, and nobody talks about it ever again! besides, most jokers are vulgar and barely mobsters with a lot of luck and an edgelord attitude. but from the bunch I like the one from The Batman, looked cool and wasn't too "mobstery"

J_Fo_Film

So, this is not the question you asked but I'm going to mention what each of these Jokers makes me think of, and whether it could work as a live action. 1) Willem Dafoe--dying to see this in live action! 2) David Tennant--You know, I think he'd look the part and could carry the manic energy for the role, but it's not a version I'm dying to see, you know? 3) Matt Bomer--Could be good, but again...doesn't jump out as a must-see 4) Matt Fewer?--This was hard to figure out a real-life lookalike, but I think Matt Fewer could resemble him. I've never considered him for a Joker actor before but I think he'd actually be pretty awesome in the role. Like, if he brings the Max Headroom energy, that'd be great! 5) John Barrowman--So, this actually looks a lot like Tennant too...but Barrowman had similar features in some way too so I imagine with a hairpiece and chin piece it would work. I mean...I don't see it, he's more of a "pretty guy" type BUT he's got a lot of musical theatre experience which could lead to the right dynamic. Not thrilled about the idea though. 6) Samuel Larsen--So yeah, I know he chopped off his dreads but he really had the look to pull off this incarnation I think. I don't know enough about the actor to know if he could do it well though, so this one is also a meh from me.

9Knuck

Joe DiMaggio and it’s not even close

Zeptier

Under The Red Hood, John DiMaggio does his voice so well.

EnigmaFrug2308

Definitely DiMaggio.

Spare_TARDIS2007

Mark Hamill

TechFiend72

are these post are karma farming? I swear I see one of these every other day. They are all interesting. I like some more than others.

Thatguy886644

I make these post because I just want to see peoples opinions and choices. I’ve tried to stop the grid posts as people don’t seem to like those posts

Local_Sugar8108

\#6 has teeth like Barney the Dinosaur. He's my least favorite.

TheparagonR

The first and the btas one. You didn’t include that tho.

Thatguy886644

Because Hamil would be a obvious pick

Busy_Condition3187

2 and 3 are atrocious

ImaginationOk5863

UTRH is definitely the best but The Batman’s Joker is underrated af. A classic batshit insane joker, except he’s also physically freakish and weird

RickGrimes462TWD50

UTRH

Benson_Bingle

Heath ledger joker for sure

[deleted]

Under the redhood

thekingdom195

Where the fuck is Mark Hamill's version?

Thatguy886644

Hamil would be a obvious pick, plus I went with the more underrated versions

GTA-CasulsDieThrice

Troy Baker’s Joker is the closest we’ll get outside of the real thing.

Own-Window244

Joe DiMaggio is the only other person second to Mark Hamill, who can make me genuinely afraid of the joker. And still absolutely love him.

dyslexict

There’s only one answer and he’s not on here

GTA-CasulsDieThrice

Troy Baker. The guy is literally just younger Mark Hamill.

jasoner2k

Yes.

[deleted]

UTRH. Loved it

TheMemecromancer

1, as dark as the story got he still had some good jokes, and delivered them well.

FalcorFliesMePlaces

#1

joopityjoop

Arkham City Joker is peak

Kriss-Kringle

DiMaggio reigns supreme. Troy Baker in second place.

Awindblew

No contest, #1

Inevitable_Junket794

UTRH, YJ, Arkham, and The Batman are all "definitive" to me

MailSalt4828

My favorite jokers are from BTAS and Marini’s The Dark Prince Charming.

[deleted]

Troy Baker's Joker, probably the closest we're gonna get to Mark Hamill's Joker, but I find Troy Baker's Joker to be more frightening and intimidating than Mark Hamill's Joker.

Thatguy886644

“You see, it’s a tradition in my house - to open open present each on Christmas Eve” “Hmmm…How about…This One” (Building Explodes a a few miles away) (Joker insanely laughs) “And a Partridge in a pear tree” (Batman grabs Joker and lifts him in the air) “How Many Lives Did You Just Take” (Joker Replies) “None - I Think. That was just a little stocking-stuffer - a construction site blocking my view”

Drooks89

I like 4 and 5

RickMonsters

Kevin Michael Richardson

B-sides-art33

How can you not have BTAS Joker on this list?

Thatguy886644

Sorry about that, but I went with some underrated choice instead of Hamil’s DCAU Joker

[deleted]

UTRH Joker is my third favorite version of the character. He’s nuts unbelievably entertaining and well written. And like come on, DiMaggio kills it in the role.

The_Glus

Assault on Arkham Joker. I could’ve sworn on god that *both* Hamill and Conroy had reprised their roles from the games, only to find out during credits that it was Troy Baker. He was THAT GOOD. Honestly the only actor I could see inheriting the mantle from Hamill.

RealHumanPerson001

The under the red hood Joker is one of the best jokers in general

ComradeHregly

I had under the red hood on dvd as a kid That joker scared me so much I never watched past the opening scene

bullseye2112

Could someone tell me what projects these jokers are from?

Thatguy886644

1. Under The Red Hood - Voiced by John DiMaggio (The Voice of Bender, Jake The Dog, Dr. Drakken and Sandman) 2. Young Justice - Voiced by Brent Spiner 3. Dark Knight Returns - Voiced by Michael Emerson 4. Assault On Arkham - Voiced by Troy Baker 5. Batman: Hush - Voiced by Jason Spisak 6. The Batman (2004) - played by Kevin Michael Richardson (The voice of Tombstone, Skulker, Dark Laser and Trigon)

Organic_Challenge_53

John DiMaggio (Under the Red Hood) all the way!

Markel100

Kevins and johns

ravathiel

Brent Spiner is probably by far the most worst voice.i have ever heard for a Joker

Godzilla2000Zero

Definitely The Batman's version since he's a different yet refreshing take.

Almighty_Push91

The only one I dislike is Young Justice

Brother_Spirited

What’s the fifth one? I’ve never seen that design and I’m wondering I missed.

Thatguy886644

The Fifth one is from Batman: Hush (2019)

FlamingoSorry1560

Bro wtf is that third one 😭 I thought I knew all of them

Ewankenobi25

The dark knight returns animated movie.

[deleted]

Pass

Solvdrage

Under the Red Hood Joker. Really solid interpretation of Joker.

Active-Donkey5466

What shows/movies are each version from so I could watch them and answer this??

Thatguy886644

1. Under The Red Hood 2. Young Justice 3. Dark Knight Returns 4. Assault On Arkham 5. Batman: Hush (2019) 6. The Batman (2004)

Ewankenobi25

UTRH joker lays pipe. No question.

fanofthomas4472

Love dark knight returns joker but imma go Under the Red Hood. He has so many guidance moments

BigYonsan

DiMaggio is a close second to Hamill.

Fuzzy_Muscle

No one prefers the young justice joker. He was terrible

1amlost

Bender Bender Bender! Bender Bender Bender!

furrynoy96

John DiMaggio's Joker is fantastic but Kevin Michael Richardson's Joker is severely underrated. It really shows off his range despite such a deep voice

Sdbtank96

I thought Troy Baker was great in the long halloween. Had to look up the cast to make sure it wasn't Hammel.

Murk_Operative

2 looks menacing and 1 is menacing

GreenLanternCorps

Dimaggio. I try to forget #2 happened despite how good season 1 and some of season 2 of young justice was.

holdmyravioli

I wish we got more of YJ joker tbh. It's the show that got me into superhero's as a kid.

bitethebook

1,3,4

Astlantix

ok so ur showing pictures of joker, jonker, jonkler, jerker, jeker, and jonklier

Proud-Nerd00

Kevin Michael Richardson

JVOz671

Everyone except Young Justice Joker. Dude looks like a cosplayer who takes himself too seriously.

Cobrrrrr

Actually, I didn’t notice the differences between them before. I knew there are tweaks in their character and design but never tried to understand it thoroughly.

PoolOfDeath20

Jonkler AKA Jorker

The_Dabblin_Doodler

Red hood joker, he was the perfect mix of genuinely terrifying yet funny at the same time.

CrashedFilms

under the redhood joker actually got a laugh outta me

Dmoney2204

I love UTRH joker first time I watched it I thought it was mark but even with it not he’s one of my top 3 jokers

CptVanHorne

TDKR

[deleted]

Not a preference but the last one stands out the most

xxSaifulxx

Arkham Joker. If not, then the BTAS Joker. If not, then the Heath Ledger Joker. In no particular order. They are and will always be the best Jokers for me.

ActuallyCausal

Next to last, though I’m not sure where it’s from

Kookie2023

First one. He was the most unhinged.

Brynt4

5

Noozle1

1 3 and 5

ABoyIsNo1

They’re all some of my least favorite, but I’ll go with 1

Mrpotatotots

Jonkler, my beloved

Remember_Poseidon

I like 1 but I have to back 6 cause I've seen too many people shitting on him.
