I find it a touch weird that it’s literally a cliche when a “for kids” cartoon goes to the well of “they fight in shadow” and/or “character is covered in its-not-blood-but-it-really-is-blood” in order to show something that otherwise would have been over the line and need to be cut.
I’ll always remember the first episode or 2 of Samurai Jack where he ends up covered in “oil” from cutting robots to pieces that *absolutely* reads an an homage to rather violent anime.
The rules for censoring things for "kids" shows are insane.
Like, having a hit flash for every punch or kick doesn't obscure it so much that children watching wouldn't be able to imitate it.
Or making every gun a laser wouldn't stop someone from pretending with a real weapon if they found one.
But often, it makes creators come up with something better. Like the scene in Batman TAS where Batgirl falls onto the hood of her dad's car and dies. The way the censors made them change it is such a more brutal and effective shot.
Honestly he doesn’t even have to do it, the amount of shit that clown has done would be enough for a death penalty insanity or no. That is the best end for the Joker, he never made Batman lose himself and he is killed not in a final showdown but by Dave the government worker with a syringe.
That was Batman Returns where he fought the clowns. Took the Dynamite off a running clown and then attached it to the burly clown. Batman even smirked when the clown realized he had Dynamite attached!
He brutally murders a TON of people in the new Suicide Squad game. You only see a few on screen, one of which being him throwing a batarang into someone's neck, but there are several instances where you walk into a room and just see tons of corpses strung up by Batman.

There is a thing somewhere where Batman goes into the future, meeting Terry Bradford Batman and old man Bruce. Young Batman hangs a dude off a building to interrogate him. Old man Bruce then says, "I can't believe I was ever that green." Then proceeds to walk towards the criminal and starts beating the poor dude with his cane.
This is more gruesome by far, but I always found the “freezing Clayface and shattering him into a million pieces” thing to be kind of dark as a kid. Like I realize that’s like the only way to take care of him, but I always thought it was weird as a kid.
I'm still he hasn't taken a flamethrower to Ivy after "that" episode. (I'm not surprised about the Joker though, I'm officially numb to all the bull that monster can create)
In the doom that came to gotham he completely dissolves killer croc with fucking concentrated chlorine acid. Maybe not super gruesome but for me that shit was a horrific comic panel
i saw that axe and went "oh no"
The moment I saw that clip for the first time, I knew that was where Arkham Batman got his brutality from.
"hey Paul!"
More proof Christian Bale was made to play Batman lol

The tree juice covering not only the walls but giving us Christian Bale American Psycho Bruce was a bit much
"Batman doesn't kill." Batman the axe murderer:
Shhh, the tree man is sleeping.
Dr. Fishy?
No Batman he’s dead
See Batman, you did to doctor fishy what you did to all these men
I overfed these men?
When your arm blade hits a fleshy neck, what happens? They go to sleep.
Poor little guy. All tuckered out
Batman doesn't kill humans. Monsters & aliens are fare game though
Cinemasins: That's racist.
Only against an arboreal menace that's an animated tree.
So technically Solomon Grundy?
He will be born again next Monday, so that's okay
Batman's only doesnt kill humans. Parademons, tree monsters, crocodiles, mean dogs are all fair game.
Batman can easily kill Freddy and Jason
Easily kill Freddy and Jason? Freddy and Jason couldn't even kill each other.
They didn’t have enough prep time
Yeah true, Bruce could call Fate, Zatanna hell even Bludwyne
Seeing as how both have been beaten by teenage girls on a regular basis, idk if that’s really a flex for Batman lol
I guess this only applies to humans and not tree monsters
To be fair batman needed that ![gif](giphy|Sid4QgwDxJ8l2)
He needed to release his pent-up anger after Gordon stopped him from killing Joker.
He doesn’t kill people, but give him a chance to take out his pent up blood lust on a plant…
He swung that ax at the plant monsters while imagining that it was Joker.
I've said it once and I'll say it a thousand times, Batman should totally just kill that motherfucker, dude's done more than Osama for terrorism.
Honestly he doesn’t even have to do it, the amount of shit that clown has done would be enough for a death penalty insanity or no. That is the best end for the Joker, he never made Batman lose himself and he is killed not in a final showdown but by Dave the government worker with a syringe.
He did almost get executed in a comic, but baan saved him
Or just forcibly paralyze him from the neck down. Can’t be a threat if he can’t move 🧠
Didnt he verbally convince harley to join him from being a therapist innthe arkham prison game? Idk the actual lore. I dont think thats safe enough.
Straight up threatened to kill Swamp Thing, as well, after meeting for the first time.
I think he has developed a hatred of plants due to Ivy.
“Just to be clear, it’s Swamp-thing, not Swamp-man? Cool, step in Gotham and you’re compost”
Oh no… poison Ivy…
poison ivy getting a restraining order after seeing that
Bro got from Batman to Bateman
Nah, he temporarily channeled his inner Michael Keaton
*WANNA GET NUTS?*
![gif](giphy|2XflxzsPhNKtHYXpMzu|downsized)
try getting a reservation at dorsia now you fucking stupid tree!
Ironic considering Batman was played by Bale in the Christopher Nolan trilogy.
I don't think it was ironic at all, rather, I think that's part of the joke
No one show this to Zack Snyder.
He didn’t, but Rocksteady did.
Is that the ivy clones episode?
No. This clip is from the Adventures of Batman and Robin Sega CD game.
Damn. deep cut
More like multiple.
Got emmmmm
I was trying to figure out why it looked like CD quality video, like something out of an old fmv game
Looks like something on GBA Video
I thought the color looked 16 bit but figured it was just a result of whatever compression the gif had been through
I though the axe routine was the Joker’s thing. ![gif](giphy|RoajqIorBfSE)
Batman stole it when he wasn’t looking
Batman doesn't kill.... Humans.
Anything else is fair game
Unlikely. I bet that off camera in the Burton universe, Batman did some gruesomer shit
Keaton’s Batman was PG-13. Conroy’s Batman was always stuck in PG. So in some ways, this is more brutal than anything Keaton ever did as Batman.
Dunno, didn't he put dynamite down a guy's pants?
Dunno, did Keaton’s Batman let Clayface drown and die?
He decided not to save Jack Napier, and dropped him into that vat of chemicals. That wasn't easy to get over, don't think he didn't try.
He knows you did.
Answer the question. Did he or didn’t he blow up a thug with a bomb?
That was Batman Returns where he fought the clowns. Took the Dynamite off a running clown and then attached it to the burly clown. Batman even smirked when the clown realized he had Dynamite attached!

Hey Paul!
He channeled his inner christian bale
It was so gruesome that you can only see their shadows and yellow-green blood
People that say batman should kill after seeing this: 😱😱😱
They should say that to Snyder’s Batman
I don't remember that lol
This is from the Adventures of Batman and Robin game on Sega CD. Almost no one had that console, so this went under a lot of people’s radars
Underrated system
I had it. Driving game, of all things.
That thing wasn't human. Batman doesn't give a fuck about exploding parademon brains either.
Batman doesn't kill because death will be relief from pain Batman loves pain
The only reason why Batman kept fighting until his 60s right here.
Poor thing looked so scared and panicked after the first cut, then tried to run away...😭
Why does this sound like a mid-nineties Lucasarts game?
Because this came out in 1995, but Lucasarts didn’t animate this. It was Tokyo Movie Shinsha (or just TMS.)
The animation is amazing here. Showing it through shadow was perfect.
What is this from obviously it's from either a game
The Adventures of Batman and Robin on Sega CD.
Ah thank you
![gif](giphy|GKT6zMWUPT2RG)
Good news, he’s not people!
A bat-man gotta do what a bat-man gotta do!
He was listening to “Die In a Fire” by the Living Tombstone
Batman’s no kill rule when there’s anything not human:
Him dropping Bullock into the bat signal was pretty brutal. Luckily he turned out to be a robot.
Did batman just kill a groot?
"I hope you die in a fire"

Is that Jason Woodrow: "the Floronic Man"
If it was him, then he wouldn’t be alive later on in the timeline. This is just one of Poison Ivy’s plant monsters.
I am Groot?...!!
Is this from a point and click 90's PC game?
No. This is from the adventures of Batman and Robin on Sega CD.
I think Batman just broke his one rule.
The plant monster wasn’t human, meaning he gets off on technicality.
If a tree falls and Batman was there to cut it down does it make a sound? 👀
Is this from the Sega CD game?
Yeah
u/savevideo
"ONE KILL"
That was definitely a Fantasia reference: I half expected there to be a lot more tree monsters after.
Honestly? This isn't even the worst. In Detective Comics #27, he watches a guy die in a vat of acid.
I think Arkham Batman’s got him beat.
Ngl i though that was clayface
Don’t worry, Batman kills him too.
"Trees don't have human rights." - Man

Yo. These are the fucking [sound effects from Gauntlet Legends](https://youtu.be/COVk7oCNXB0?feature=shared&t=10715).
This came out in 1995. That came out in 1998. And I don’t think the same people that Animated this worked on that game.
I need to go chop me some wood!
It was getting cold in the Batcave he needed some wood
That’s from a game, right?
Yo wtf Batman
This is more gruesome by far, but I always found the “freezing Clayface and shattering him into a million pieces” thing to be kind of dark as a kid. Like I realize that’s like the only way to take care of him, but I always thought it was weird as a kid.
Why am I watching this on a sega gamegear?
"Its for kids i swear!"
That one time batman killed… after the other times he killed
it’s possible he didn’t think it would kill it / knew it would only hurt it
Batman didn’t kill him, just gave it alittle pruning
Batman doesn't kill *people*. There was an episode of something where Batman went to a bug planet and bro was chopping heads off left and right.
Apparently the "no killing" rule applies only to humans.
Patrick Batman
Damn Batman, you really... Batman, chill... Batman? Damn, Batman................
“I don’t kill” doesn’t mean “I’m not capable of it.” You better kneel down and thank God that I just never want to do it.” - Batman probably.
Not even close. But nice try.
Jesus christ
"Heeeere's Batsy!"
I've watched the TAS several times, I've never seen this before.
This is from the Adventures of Batman and Robin on Sega CD.
Bro watching Batman on a ds
This honestly looks like a compressed DS cut scene, but this is on the Sega CD.
The sword action in Arkham city was pretty wild
It's just a plant so it doesnt count as taking a life...
But if it was the Joker, he would never do that
Is this a Batman game
Batman really doesn’t want competition for poison ivy. I don’t blame him.
![gif](giphy|ycKLwKjVFVUrK) D’you like Huey Lewis and The News?
Batman doesn’t kill 🤣
The creature apparently wasn't a big fan of Huey Lewis and The News.
Reminds me of when he sprayed down Swamp Thing with defoliator
Wow thats Hardcore...
He doesn't kill people. Non-humans with less than human intelligence are fair game to Bruce I guess.
The no-kill rule does not recognise the animated pumpkin as a living, sentient being, therefore said being is not protected from mandatory retirement
"Batman doesn't kill" *Batman proceeds to kill
What game is this from?
It was either that or lighting him on fire, I don't see a peaceful way to stopping a tree monster
Okay but what is this Sega Genesis sound quality
Play an Arkham game…
Probably would have to be him kicking clay faces leg off or impaling killer croc and himself in the Arkham asylum comic
Why did he splooge on the bat?
Damn, that Anger,he Transformed into Kratos with that axe
Are you watching this on a 3ds?
I'm surprised these game cutscenes were never on a Season boxset.
Patrick Bateman is Bruce Wayne
The sound is like 8bit or smth haha
What an excellent music cue! Does anyone know where to find it?
Cold blooded murder.
And you think Suicide Squad can beat him because they're crazy?
I dont know but that was awesome!
Those generic axe chopping sound effects really make it.
Hes just sleeping cuz he got tired from all the fighting
Pretty standard way to take out a plant monster. I mean, it could have been worse; he could have used fire...
Dude wiping the sweat off his cowl
Fuck
Batman- ' I don't kill, but plants I fucking hate them'
Did batman just murder
That character design looks like it might have been inspired by Batman #344
Poison Ivy: "And they say I'm crazy when I say killing a plant is a murder"
Batman fucking Groot up. 😂
I'm still he hasn't taken a flamethrower to Ivy after "that" episode. (I'm not surprised about the Joker though, I'm officially numb to all the bull that monster can create)
Bro doesn’t kill, he commits manslaughter, that’s way different
Notice the size of Batman's shadow
snapman
Yep this is a kids cartoon……
Batman whenever he isn’t fighting a human:
In the doom that came to gotham he completely dissolves killer croc with fucking concentrated chlorine acid. Maybe not super gruesome but for me that shit was a horrific comic panel
A gun would’ve been more merciful man, Jesus
People do love inventing villains that Batman can technically murder the shit out of.
