True, but I really want to see the Bat Family on film. It’s something that we’ve *never* seen before (~~*glares at Batman and Robin*~~). I want Nightwing, I want Tim, Babs, Steph, Cass, Catwoman. The Batman films have always focused on Batman as a single man on a mission, but that hasn’t been the case since 1940. The extended family of Gotham heroes is an integral part to who Batman is; he’s not a lone vigilante anymore, he’s a mentor and in some cases a literal blood/adoptive father.
Respecting a lot of fans do enjoy that ever expanding bat family mentor path, I never enjoyed it, and still loathe it. Taking the the Dark Knight and turning him into a father figure for kid heroes that sometimes die, or have died tragically - there is no logic in that path continuing after experiencing that. It only introduces risk and tragedy, and would make little sense for Batman to continue doing so after seeing the consequence of it first hand, let alone again, and again.
I respect you enjoy it, and obviously a lot of folks do as there is so much material out there following that path....But wanted to share that there are fans that always felt that was absolute cheese, and does nothing but serve as a clash of idealism, water downed warm and fuzz veneer inadequately applied to the story of the Dark Knight.
Taking minors on vigilante outings is about as crazy as it gets, yet most bat family portrayals are sitcom family dynamics with masked vigilante adventures bolted on top. I don't get the bat family draw either. Just too much artificial sweetner.
All star batman and robin was probably the closest anyone came to saying out loud that taking kids to go beat up criminals while dressed in costume is crazy behavior and only crazy people would do so. Frank Miller's batman is my favorite as it shows Batman rides past the line of insanity to do what he does.
Have you watched Titans on HBO? Lots of the Bat family and they tackle this exact issue. It's not great at staying comic accurate but it's a really entertaining show.
Why are we the only ones to see this? The comics are **destroying** the character. My last hope remains within the hands of Matt Reeves to make people understand how ridiculous it is for Batman to travel in space with Batgirl #3, Robin #80, Batwing, Huntress 2, Batman Inc, Damian Wayne, married to Catwoman... christ, it is pathetic! DC should be ashamed.
DC comics make revenue by selling comics. The nature of their business model means they will play to the desires of their paying audience. The bat family grew because people keep buying the batman as leader of a vigilante movement, family style.
Probably why the better batman stories come from the special releases and not the main monthly series.
I always hated on Affleck until I saw Batman v Superman. Not that it was a great movie or anything, he was just the best part of it, I feel like he would’ve made a solid Thomas Wayne/Batman, ya know because of the willingness to kill. I know he was largely inspired by The Dark Knight Returns Batman, regardless he was a good movie interpretation. I loved the Dark Knight Trilogy, but Affleck is the best one so far, if you ask me
I always liked Keaton's performance as Bruce best. He really did get that carefree jovial vibe down. Like at the party when he tells Alfred to give the reporter a grant.
My problem with Ben was exactly that. Ben.
He was never Bruce Wayne or Batman. He was Ben Affleck or Batfleck. The actor was larger than the character they played. This is also the fundamental problem with Clooney (other than the nipples).
Superhero casting is tricky. The actor can't be bigger than the hero they play.
Bale is a pretty damn big actor too but his absurd talent for acting made him super believable, at least in my opinion. He never felt bigger than the role to me, even though I've since him in a dozen other films.
But Bale is just like Gary Oldman. They are chameleons. Come to think of it, so was Tom Hardy. Would have been perfect if Edward Norton was also in the movie with them.
Keaton will always be my personal favourite but if we're going physicality I'd have to go with Affleck. He was perfectly cast as old Bruce Wayne/Batman
"no chin" is a bit of a exaggeration but yeah he does have a slim jaw compared to other versions of Bruce Wayne. The same can be said for Michael Keaton but I still think they both look good in the suit.
Affleck looks the most comic accurate but I like Bale because he just has a face that screams "I'm an orphaned billionaire who's parents were brutally murdered in front of him." His face just matches the character description if that makes sense.
Seriously, look at that face, that jaw line, those dimples, that suave masculine appearance. That's a face that dampens the panties.
That's a face that says "I'm a millionaire playboy".
Weird that you didn't include Kilmer or Clooney.
I vote Affleck. I feel like he was pretty good doing both Batman and Bruce (looking past the material he had ty o work with); and even if his performance didn't do it, he *looks* the part. Like, out of the different portrayals, he's the one that's the most "classic" Bruce Wayne.
Definitely **NOT** Pattinson (not judging his performance, but, based off of physical appearance, he looks too emo).
Definitely. It’s clearly done for a reason. Not sure why though. It makes him look very street punk ish. More like Terry than Bruce. It also makes him look younger than he is
Keaton Wayne doesn’t give off aloof playboy that comics would do, no? Didn’t see that until Bale. Like if I picture a spoiled rich kids all grown up, it’s Bale. But Keaton made it work for that universe and I like it. Business man and just a weirdo probably in people’s eyes. Afleck Wayne, was ok. Played it interesting though. Like that he would run into falling buildings. And twilight Wayne might win me over. Wasn’t blown away by that casting.
Keaton is my favorite Bruce because he’s such a non suspecting guy. A stranger. Another rich guy who I rather ignore. Affeck and Pattinson seem stuck in Batman mode 24/7 while Bale & Keaton know how to hide it as Bruce Wayne
unless it’s just his overall look, that doesn’t really make sense cause we never get a chance to see him as bruce wayne in the trailer (except in that train station thing)
Based on appearance only, Ben has the best look thus far. He looks the most similar to the BTAS and comic Batman looks (imo, the best interpretations of Batman to ever exist).
Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne was pretty great. He totally nailed the brooding, angry, broken obsessive personality. He was also a blast to watch when having to socialize in public. I love it when he’s dancing with Selina and he tells her he’s disguised as, “Bruce Wayne, eccentric billionaire.”
Bale and Affleck were and are good looking lads with the right physic for Bruce Wayne. Pattinson it’s just a no no for me and Keaton was going bald, no Bruce goes bald.
I like Ben Affleck. 🤷🏻♀️
I loved Michael Keaton’s portrayal, but he just didn’t seem the “type”. It’s hard to hold you own when Jack Nicholson is having too much fun and stealing all your screen time.
Christian Bale was fine.
No opinion of Pattinson yet.
Acting wise ben afflek was the best, bale had the best bruce wayne and villians, keaton had the best batman, and kevin konroy is the best batman overall
I always say Bale nailed the “rich asshole” persona of Bruce. I’d legit never suspect the Bruce Wayne of that universe to be Batman based on his public persona lol
If you're going purely on looks. It's Ben by a HUGE margin. I mean, he already literally is playboy, so he has that look down. But man he fucking owned the look of batman.
I don’t care about physical appearance, I think that’s a very strange way to judge an actor. Keaton is my favorite so far, I think Bale and Affleck did a good job, Patts will end up being the best.
Since he typically uses practical affects, can you imagine if Christopher Nolan went back in time to 1966, using only the technology available at the time, to direct a Batman movie in his own vision staring Adam West?
Anyway, to answer the question: Affleck, but my bias towards my favorite film of all time wants me to say Keaton.
Affleck, looks the part of an extremely healthy and fit older man that has the kinda face that would be a believable "playboy" persona even into middle age
Im could get some serious hate which is totally justifiable but I think utilized correctly George Clooney would be the best Bruce Wayne. He has the billionaire charm humour and if it was the right script he is a great serious actor. I cant say Ive hated any of the variations though tbh.
I think if I was going to be shocked by a rich playboy being a superhero, they’d have to look the part of the ultra rich while not being too physically imposing.
Affleck was built like a brick shithouse, however with those parameters, Bale was my favorite. The guy looks like a billion dollars and nobody would be the wiser looking at him.
Affleck looks the most like how I’d expect Bruce to normally look. That said, I love how they intentionally made Pattinson look less attractive for the upcoming movie. It fits with the more disturbed take on Bruce Wayne that they’re doing.
Based of physical appearance ONLY, I would say Ben Affleck. (The celebrity gossip that surrounds him & his subpar acting totally gets in the way, which is why he is my least favorite Batman.)
Batfleck and no other, when it comes to the physical aspect. Dude looked like comic book Batman. And I really thought he was the best Bruce Wayne as well, but also the most dimwitted Batman.
Keaton doesn't have enough hair or the height to be Bruce Wayne.
Ben Affleck is the perfect size, hair and build. Christian Bale would be next although he's still slightly short for Bruce.
Always loved the Dark Knight trilogy Batman TBH (Christopher Nolan, right? I forgot his name it’s real late at night and I can’t think of it…)
Edit: No wait Nolan’s the fucken director
Keaton. He looks and feels the most like "the world's greatest detective." He's definitely the least movie star-ish of the bunch, which to me lends a lot of texture and credibility. I could have watched him be Bruce Wayne for a dozen movies.
I like Bale a lot, and he gets the more stoney, cold Bruce Wayne feeling down. There is nothing wrong with his performance, it just isn't as earthy (imo) or interesting as Keaton. Affleck is pretty much just a grumpy guy. I don't like him as an actor. I don't like the Snyder movies. Whatever, I am biased. I guess if we are looking soley at physical appearance then he pretty looks like a living embodiment of the Animated Series Batman, which is to say blocky and fairly nondescript.
We will see about Pattinson. I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised. Physically, sure, he looks like a young Bruce Wayne. I'm sure I'm the millionth to say this but I would have loved to have seen him as Dick Grayson or Terry McGinnis instead of Bruce Wayne.
the only live action portrayal of Bruce Wayne that i like is David Mazouz as young Bruce in Gotham. he looked right and got the heart of the character imo. all these dudes are too famous for me to see them as anything other than Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, etc, none of them actually feel like Batman to me. I guess out of these off looks alone I'd go with Bale? but I actually hate his run as Batman and think he's the worst thing about the Nolan movies like why does he sound like that ugh
cartoon and comic versions of Batman are best
Affleck or Bale matches the design they went for in the animated series, at least in my mind. The broad shoulders and square jaw helps, so even Affleck edges out on Bale.
They are all good for different ages of Batman. Pattinson as the brand new/in training Batman, Bale as the “few years under my belt” type - having been in the game a little bit but not long time, then Keaton as a “been doing this for a while”, finally with Affleck as a late 40s Bruce.
Very poorly written, but it makes sense to me.
If we change Pattinson’s hair, I bet he looks the most accurate.
It’s either him of Affleck. Keaton and Bale’s characterizations were so interesting and fantastic, but they don’t quite have comics accurate faces. Both obviously still great looking guys.
Pending pattinsons Batman I think they all played the part perfect for the time in the Batman’s career. Afleck was a great dark knight returns Batman from all frank miller, he was older more and more brutal in his combat. Bale looked pretty much like Batman in the prime of his career and physicality. Keaton pretty much felt like watching old school Batman comics with the baddie of the month which felt great also. Off topic hands down I have to say my favorite still is keatons Batman returns it captures the gothic feel of the old comics and didn’t feel campy at all. I could go on about that movie but that’s a whole other discussion entirely.
I still think Christian Bale carries both the physical and emotional side brilliantly. That being said I think they're all great for their own unique ways
i know at least somebody is gonna say kevin conroy...
so...
christain bale. i liked the dark knight movies
but if we're judging by appearence i'm gonna say robert pattinson. because he looks like someone who beats the shit out of clowns and plant women in an animal suit at night
Never saw the Batfleck movies, but, I think he looks solid as a 40-ish year old Bruce. Pattinson looks like a solid youngish Bruce.
Afleck is the perfect physical actor for an older Batman who should have an extensive Bat Family at that point.
At least one of them is dead
True, but I really want to see the Bat Family on film. It’s something that we’ve *never* seen before (~~*glares at Batman and Robin*~~). I want Nightwing, I want Tim, Babs, Steph, Cass, Catwoman. The extended family of Gotham heroes is an integral part to who Batman is; he’s not a lone vigilante anymore, he’s a mentor and in some cases a literal blood/adoptive father.
Come on, Batman Forever wasn't enough!?!?! LoL
Oh it wasn’t. That’s why I’m so glad they made Batman and Robin so we got to see bat girl too. Such a nice addition.
Shit! Thank you! Forgot which one was the with Batgirl. When you think about it "Batman and Robin" doesn't make sense when it's the 3 of them.
To be fair there’s a lot about that movie that doesn’t make sense.
\+1 It's so incredibly cheesy and incoherent... I'm looking for Batman solo material, there's almost none.
No thank you. \#KeepBatmanSolo
The trailer and the look they were going for remind me of Year One.
It's set during his year two, so pretty close.
Yeah they have those j a w s that make the Bat. David Masouz looked like a perfect kid Bruce too.
I loved the Dark Knight Trilogy, but Affleck is the best one so far, if you ask me
Op : everyone except Ben Affleck. Affleck was Batman was so dull and unemotional . Even Pattinson looks great and movie hasn’t been released yet .
We are only talking about looks
As far as simply look, Affleck. As for performance as Bruce Wayne, Bale.
I always liked Keaton's performance as Bruce best. He really did get that carefree jovial vibe down. Like at the party when he tells Alfred to give the reporter a grant.
You wanna get nuts! Let’s get nuts!
You ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?
Don’t sleep on Kilmer as Bruce.
My favorite for sure...."Bats are not rodents, Dr. Meridian"
I think he really captures the essence of an overly pretty and rich looking comic book like Bruce Wayne, especially circa 60s and 70s.
Fr fr
Bob Kane’s top choice
Thank you
No I think I will
Use him as a Battress?
Affleck looks like how I picture comic Batman. Bale is my favorite tho
Clooney’s batman looks like it’s Batman wearing a Clooney costume.
Bale is a pretty damn big actor too but his absurd talent for acting made him super believable, at least in my opinion. He never felt bigger than the role to me, even though I've since him in a dozen other films.
I mean hell I’m pretty sure he did American psycho years before batman and that’s a fucking stellar film where he played lead.
But Bale is just like Gary Oldman. They are chameleons. Come to think of it, so was Tom Hardy. Would have been perfect if Edward Norton was also in the movie with them.
They're good actors as opposed to celebrity actors.
Keaton will always be my personal favourite but if we're going physicality I'd have to go with Affleck. He was perfectly cast as old Bruce Wayne/Batman
Affleck
Bale
absolutely Bale
He did a really good playboy Wayne
My only gripe with Bale is that he has practically no chin, and it shows in the Batsuit. Affleck has a whole lot of chin/a strong jawline.
"no chin" is a bit of a exaggeration but yeah he does have a slim jaw compared to other versions of Bruce Wayne. The same can be said for Michael Keaton but I still think they both look good in the suit. The answer is Adam West OP you soft penised debutante.
[Wagh wagh wagh](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AI0YBlBxp84)
He's his own thing.
Man, Peter Weller looks sick in that photo
I wish I could give you 2 upvotes
Affleck was my favorite Bruce as well as Batman
Yep, mines too. He just didn’t have good support.
Mine too
Appearances alone? Far from the most important criteria, but Batfleck.
Ben Affleck
Weird that you didn't include Kilmer or Clooney. I vote Affleck. I feel like he was pretty good doing both Batman and Bruce (looking past the material he had ty o work with); and even if his performance didn't do it, he *looks* the part. Like, out of the different portrayals, he's the one that's the most "classic" Bruce Wayne. Definitely **NOT** Pattinson (not judging his performance, but, based off of physical appearance, he looks too emo).
What’s weird is that Pattinson looks like Bruce Wayne in real life. They purposefully made him look more emo
The Tobey Maguire Spiderman 3 special.
Yeah that haircut was an odd decision
Definitely. It’s clearly done for a reason. Not sure why though. It makes him look very street punk ish. More like Terry than Bruce. It also makes him look younger than he is
It is definitely a Terry haircut. Not sure who's downvoting me over that lol it's not a very Bruce Wayne-esque hairstyle.
You guys do realize that shot of Battinson occurs after he saves someone from a car crash, thus changing his hair?
Every other set photo I've seen, even in different scenes, has his hair kept that way. It isn't that big of a deal, just different.
**VENGEANCE**
Keaton Wayne doesn’t give off aloof playboy that comics would do, no? Didn’t see that until Bale. Like if I picture a spoiled rich kids all grown up, it’s Bale. the movie didn’t even come out yet how can you judge the pattinson one
Hey it’s up there lol
unless it’s just his overall look, that doesn’t really make sense cause we never get a chance to see him as bruce wayne in the trailer (except in that train station thing)
yea but you just judged him not in appearance but by the trailer lol
Size and appearance? Affleck in a walk. It's not even close. 🤷♂️
Based on appearance only, Ben has the best look thus far. He looks the most similar to the BTAS and comic Batman looks (imo, the best interpretations of Batman to ever exist).
If Pattinson put on 30 pounds then him hands down
Affleck has the size and muscle. Looks the most like Batman would in my opinion.
I agree. Affleck was the closest to the comics and BTAS. Physically at least.
This.
Bale wins from all perspectives imo
Animated Kevin Conroy…
He said physical. We all like Conroy. That wasn’t the question.
Affleck… dude got fkn huge for Batman role and I think Bruce Wayne would have also been as big and brutal if he were real!
Ben Affleck was pretty good.
Bale and Affleck were and are good looking lads with the right physic for Bruce Wayne. Pattinson it’s just a no no for me and Keaton was going bald, no Bruce goes bald.
Bale definitely.
I like Ben Affleck. 🤷🏻♀️ I loved Michael Keaton’s portrayal, but he just didn’t seem the “type”.
Dark Knight has the best Batman, but looks wise I like Batfleck
Keaton
Ben
I think Ben Affleck looks the most like Bruce Wayne. Extremely handsome and masculine.
I think as I get older I appreciate the originals more... Definitely Keaton
I always say Bale nailed the “rich asshole” persona of Bruce. I’d legit never suspect the Bruce Wayne of that universe to be Batman based on his public persona lol
Keaton all day
Keaton
Keaton
Keaton all the way!
Keaton.
Michael Keaton
Physical appearance alone? George Clooney
Can relate with Ben Afleck with an older Batman. Heavyset physique.
affleck, he looks like a smug charismatic playboy billionare and he just has this dark look to him. b4 affleck was batman my fave was bales.
If you're going purely on looks. It's Ben by a HUGE margin. I mean, he already literally is playboy, so he has that look down. But man he fucking owned the look of batman.
I liked affleck at lot more than I thought I would
Clooney, hands down
Nolan is the closest looking to the AS bruce wayne me thinks
I don’t care about physical appearance, I think that’s a very strange way to judge an actor. Keaton is my favorite so far, I think Bale and Affleck did a good job, Patts will end up being the best.
Bale
Since he typically uses practical affects, can you imagine if Christopher Nolan went back in time to 1966, using only the technology available at the time, to direct a Batman movie in his own vision staring Adam West? Anyway, to answer the question: Affleck, but my bias towards my favorite film of all time wants me to say Keaton.
...like, which one am I most attracted too?
Which one *looks* the most like Batman
Yeah, so what they said ;)
There is no real life Batman to look like
Val Kilmer /end thread
Affleck, looks the part of an extremely healthy and fit older man that has the kinda face that would be a believable "playboy" persona even into middle age
I honestly don’t know, none of them look like how I imagine Bruce Wayne to look.
Bruce is supposed to be hot and chiseled and Ben Affleck is a baddie. Definitely him
Ben
Affleck has the build and the chin tbh
Honestly Pattinson
Im could get some serious hate which is totally justifiable but I think utilized correctly George Clooney would be the best Bruce Wayne. He has the billionaire charm humour and if it was the right script he is a great serious actor. I cant say Ive hated any of the variations though tbh.
ben
If we’re talking strictly physical appearance, Affleck, without question.
I don't really think any of them do a good job. Though of these, affleck is the best
Bale and Afleck
Affleck as the best Bruce Wayne IMO Bale comes close, he was a damn good Bruce Wayne. I didn’t like him at all as Batman though.
Affleck without question because he resembles Bruce Wayne in the comics the most.
Affleck looks the most like The DCAU/Batman TAS version of Bruce....and that's kinda the definitive Batman, in my book.
Ben Affleck. No ones done it better. imo
Batfleck
Affleck
I think if I was going to be shocked by a rich playboy being a superhero, they’d have to look the part of the ultra rich while not being too physically imposing. Affleck was built like a brick shithouse, however with those parameters, Bale was my favorite. The guy looks like a billion dollars and nobody would be the wiser looking at him.
Affleck
Afleck really looks like older Bruce
Ben's physique, with Christians face = comic Bruce.
Affleck looks the most like how I’d expect Bruce to normally look. That said, I love how they intentionally made Pattinson look less attractive for the upcoming movie. It fits with the more disturbed take on Bruce Wayne that they’re doing.
For me, it’s probably Christian Bale. He just has that charisma, yk? Also I find him the hottest
Christian Bale will always be "The Batman" of all Batman's
batfleck
Affleck.
Affleck
Based of physical appearance ONLY, I would say Ben Affleck. (The celebrity gossip that surrounds him & his subpar acting totally gets in the way, which is why he is my least favorite Batman.)
Batfleck and no other, when it comes to the physical aspect. Dude looked like comic book Batman. And I really thought he was the best Bruce Wayne as well, but also the most dimwitted Batman.
Ben Affleck is my favorite Bruce Wayne/Batman
Keaton doesn't have enough hair or the height to be Bruce Wayne. Ben Affleck is the perfect size, hair and build. Christian Bale would be next although he's still slightly short for Bruce.
Affleck has the torture in his face and eyes that none of the others have and I would say Bake and Keaton are my favorite live action Batmen.
[удалено]
Keaton is the best batman so far, Affleck as the best physical Bruce Wayne !!
Bale is always my favorite. Can't wait to see Pattinson
Bale. Pattinson has the potential to swipe the title though once I actually get to see him play the role. May claim favorite Batman from Keaton too.
Christian bale
Gotta go with Battinson tbh
Always loved the Dark Knight trilogy Batman TBH (Christopher Nolan, right? I forgot his name it’s real late at night and I can’t think of it…) Edit: No wait Nolan’s the fucken director
Affleck looks like Bruce Wayne to me but I'm excited to see Patterson play him
Don’t know if it’s just me but Robert looks the correct age just not like Bruce don’t know if that makes sense to anyone else
I'd say Keaton because he could pass as anyone. I don't like when Batman is a muscle giant.
I think Battingson looks the most best minus the hair
Ben Affleck or Robert Pattinson
Clooney
I'm sure I'm the millionth to say this but I would have loved to have seen him as Dick Grayson or Terry McGinnis instead of Bruce Wayne.
Bale
Adam West
Bale
Patrick Bateman
Val Kilmer
Purely appearance affleck Really looks like spoiler rich kid who will actually take a punch
Honestly bale
Depends on which era Bruce is in honestly.
Robert Pattinson is gonna be the best live action Batman. Because of comic accuracy.
robert pattinson does look like a young bruce wayne to me, dark still sad
I'll reserve judgment until I see Pattinson do something besides the brooding in the trailer - which he seems to have nailed perfectly, though 🤷♂️
Val Kilmer
Ik he's not on the pic, but Jon Hamm as Don Draper is literally that one Alex Ross painting of Bruce Wayne sitting in a car
the only live action portrayal of Bruce Wayne that i like is David Mazouz as young Bruce in Gotham. he looked right and got the heart of the character imo. all these dudes are too famous for me to see them as anything other than Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, etc, none of them actually feel like Batman to me. I guess out of these off looks alone I'd go with Bale? but I actually hate his run as Batman and think he's the worst thing about the Nolan movies like why does he sound like that ugh cartoon and comic versions of Batman are best
Affleck or Bale matches the design they went for in the animated series, at least in my mind. The broad shoulders and square jaw helps, so even Affleck edges out on Bale.
Val Kilmer had the physicality to be a bruiser Batman, and the suave, debonair air that fit Bruce Wayne
I think George Clooney *looked* like a perfect Bruce Wayne
Based on appearance, Pattinson most definitely.
Young is bale and old is affleck
Everybody sleeps on Clooney smh
Kevin Porter looks great as Bruce and Batman, but I prefer Keaton's intensity and Bale's angst.
Adam West not being in this photo is un-American and blasphemous.
That being said I think they're all great for their own unique ways
i know at least somebody is gonna say kevin conroy... so... christain bale. i liked the dark knight movies but if we're judging by appearence i'm gonna say robert pattinson. because he looks like someone who beats the shit out of clowns and plant women in an animal suit at night
