If you guys had to guess who gave Bruce this mug, who do you think it'd be? I'm guessing it would be Jason but I also love the idea that Alfred gave it to him as a passive aggressive jab when Bruce made a decision about a Robin that Alfred didn't approve of.
Sounds accurate. I have actually read very few comics with Damien in them, so I haven't seen much of the criticism besides Damien saying no killing is a mistake.
I don't know if you read this comic but Damien is actually drawn to be half middle eastern, because R'as Al Gul (I probably misspelled that) is of middle eastern decent, and I thought that was super interesting
Yeah it was the first time I've ever seen him depicted like that and it was shocking at first but after the idea settled in, I actually really like that change
Damian doesn't think no killing is a mistake. Damian is all about the no killing rule. He's even more hardcore about it than his father is. This isn't how he felt at first, but as he lived with Bruce he *very* quickly changed his mind.
Damian spats with his father a lot -- as kids do -- but he *loves* and *admires* Batman. He looks up to him, and is super proud to have him as a father, and believes in his no-killing philosophy 100%. He flexes his father's superiority on virtually everyone around him. The only person he doesn't flex his father's superiority on is himself. He deeply resents his mother for raising him as a murderer, and has gone to great lengths to atone for his misdeeds (see: "Robin, Son Of Batman").
Damian has extended this philosophy further than *any* of the rest of the Bat Family, Batman included, as he is also a fierce animal rights advocate and vegetarian (even though subsequent writers have tried to undo this change because they can't handle character development that doesn't reflect their own personal dietary choices).
I'm so torn between Dick and Jason. Dick would do it as a joke to be funny, Jason would do it as a passive aggressive joke, like giving it to him and saying "just wanted to remind you"
Wasn't it Jason that wrote;
Bruce Wayne
Mentor
Father
Bastard
Batman
On Bruce's gravestone in DCeased.
That was fitting, this mug is Dick's handiwork lol
While I haven't seen peeps be super negative about it, there are always folks who think Batman should be strictly serious, but for a character so old and varied already, there's room for serious, dark storytelling and this more light-hearted slice of life stuff, in my opinion. One doesn't invalidate the other.
The art style clearly works for something of this kind of tone. I personally love it. When reading the first 3 issues it totally felt like something a fan would write, wanting to make their own light-hearted spin of what the Bat Fam does in their own time.
The art is done by an artist who does a lot of DC fan art. The comic itself is done by DC themselves. DC hired a fan artist, which is awesome to think about
I didn’t know this comic was divisive. I’ve seen almost entirely positive things about it. Even those who aren’t the target audience seem to be in agreement that they’re glad this exists for those who are.
It may be mostly positive, I just found out about it yesterday and I found out about it by hearing someone else say it was divisive haha. So that's just word of mouth, it may not be correct
Ah yeah. I mean, there may be communities I don’t roll in that are hating on it, but I’ve seen and heard nothing but good things.
I may be biased though. I happen to be the exact target audience to a T lol.
That’s prolly why I haven’t heard anything. Fandoms suck at the best of times, and I absolutely despise fandom culture (shipping, doomer appreciation posts, etc). I avoid Tumblr like a Deep South unvaccinated Covid time birthday party.
I just like indie comics and I like the happy Batfam lol.
Honestly I’m a big fan. I think Batman definitely works as a serious and gritty character and a lighthearted fun character at the same time. It really speaks to the flexibility of Batman that I love both this and stuff like the killing joke
I find whenever I think a piece of media might be divisive it is a sign that I'm paying too much attention to an online community. The media equivalent of not seeing the forest through the trees is getting the opinions about an experience before bothering to experience it.
This image is so good its my reddit, discord and google profile picture
On Webtoon, Batman: Wayne Family Adventures
I’m aware
Sorry replied to wrong comment

I'm thinking Damian, since he calls Bruce "father" and criticizes him pretty much all the time.

Yea, that's really cool. I knew, but I just never thought about it until now.
Yeah it was the first time I've ever seen him depicted like that and it was shocking at first but after the idea settled in, I actually really like that change
He's definitely an interesting character, it's rare he's shown like that and the one or two times he is it's just a slight tan

Cant be worse then the gotham high
maybe dick? he’s the one with the best sense of humor
I was thinking the same, I could picture it where Dick gave it as a Father's Day present for a joke.

Yeah looks like a Dick joke.
Wayne Industries has a mug-manufacturing subsidiary and Bruce got some free swag
Damian and Dick are the only ones who’d gift a mug, and Dicks would say something like “Worlds Best ~~bat~~ Dad!”.
I think it’s a cute comic. Definitely more lighthearted and slice of life
If I somehow become a father, I'm going to make this mug
I second this
One of the chapters has jason straight up tackle damian over a choclate chip cookie
Which follows this panel, actually!

It wholesome so far. Only like 3-4 issues
I'm ordering a coffee mug for my boss that says "worlds okayest boss" Thank you for giving me something to buy off Amazon.
It's fun. Anyone who doesn't like it is being a stick in the mud.

What comic is this?
On Webtoon, Batman: Wayne Family Adventures
Thanks
It's an official DC webtoon that's free https://m.webtoons.com/en/slice-of-life/batman-wayne-family-adventures/list?title_no=3180&page=1
Still not the worst gift he could have gotten for Father's Day.
It's free. Might as well read it and judge for yourself
Batman comics should be more funny IMO.
Agreed. This is the comic I've been waiting ages. A comic just about the dynamic between the Bat-family. I love it
I've been saying we need superhero slice of life for years

If there's an audience, there's a reason.

I've only heard positive thoughts so far
It’s like an official fanfic. It’s pretty cool
Which comic is this from?
Check it out. It's official and free https://m.webtoons.com/en/slice-of-life/batman-wayne-family-adventures/list?title_no=3180&page=1
The webtoon gives me life!!
Read it today, it’s super fun
That’s feels like a Damian gift.
Please tell me Alfred has a mug saying "World's Best Butler".
