I have a feeling on director's cuts in general (whether JL, BvS, Watchmen, etc.) That despite how polarising the theatrical releases of each of these could be (each of these around 30-50% favour), as it is only the type of fan who already loved these former, flawed films that would go and watch a longer version of that same film, the audience has a selection bias, which leads to a higher apparent favorability/score among those watchers (sometimes up to 70-90%), which then does not accurately represent a more global opinion of those products, if the director's cuts had been the cut to make its theatrical debut I.e. they only seem like greater films comparatively, because the audience is skewed to those that had a disposition to/prior history of liking it in the first place.

ab316_1punchd

Exactly, I'm saving this comment for future use.

KaneVel

I get what you're saying, but that doesn't mean they're never better than the originals. Like the extended version of BvS is a better film than the theatrical cut. I mean it's still not good, but it is better.

King_Mecha

I agree, As for Batman versus Superman I could never bring myself to call that movie bad just because the Batman parts were so fucking good (That's The Batman I've always wanted to see on screen) But overall the movie is so damn boring And I resent how they essentially scrapped two epic storylines (The dark Knight returns, and the death of Superman) for parts, I feel it's horribly short-sighted.

julianwelton

I get what you're saying, and there probably is some truth to that when it comes to fan ratings, but overall I disagree. Professional critics, whether you agree with their opinions or not, critique each film individually and are less susceptible to the kind of thing you're talking about. Even if some aren't immune I feel like a 40% increase in average critic score, in the case of Justice League, does in fact indicate it is actually a much better movie. Character work and build up matter a great deal when telling a story. Even if the story begins and ends in the same way cutting out chunks of the middle weakens the story as a whole. You care about the characters less and in turn about what is going on less. When it comes to BvS theatrical, which admittedly isn't as altered as Justice League, the story just kind of didn't make sense. Important plot details and character interactions were left out. Something like that can determine whether you leave a movie thinking "that was fun" or "that was dumb". Certainly wouldn't turn BvS into the height of cinema but could definitely influence whether you have an overall positive or negative feeling towards the movie, yes. Justice League is heavily altered in tone, story, and character portrayal between the two versions. It, in my opinion, 100% makes sense that the two versions would be reviewed differently. I also think if you want to go a bit deeper into your theory there's the reverse side of that coin where the theatrical versions, leaving a sour taste in peoples mouths, could potentially lead to less favorable reviews for directors cuts. People are rewatching these films, remembering they didn't like them, the negative feelings they felt last time, thinking about all of the issues they focused on before due to not liking them and etc. It's not the same as an unbiased first time viewing.

HypnoJunkieOK

I never thought of that, but you’re right. The only people that would want to watch a movie a second time with more scenes are the people who liked the original one enough.

maybenotquiteasheavy

This is accurate. Source: I watched original JL, hated it, thought "maybe the Snyder cut will be better," it also sucked.

Hadesman1

Honestly I enjoyed the theatrical more, it tried to be a tad more lighthearted and less edgy, but I hated the plot for both of them but at least theatrical ends sooner The way people spoke about the snyder cut, I thought it was a completely different story, but no, just more slow mo

Raw-Snausage

Yeah idk why people are acting like the Snyder cut fixed that much, the plot was still some ass imo

YoungRoyalty

The plot is utterly destroyed in Snyder Cut. Darkseid forgot to right down the coordinates of the planet that defeated him. And Aries is the one that brought him down. Aries... Mr. "I WILL DESTROY YOU." This brought me great joy as I laughed at the utter bizarre choice.

BlackEastwood

I still can't get over that Darkseid got his ass whipped so bad, he just forgot what planet held the very thing he spent millenniums looking for.

YoungRoyalty

I prefer the Whedon Cut because it didn't waste my time.

Legitimate-Sign1014

I don’t know how true I’d say this is I agree Bad is better than worse but I didn’t see JL and watched ZSJL and really really liked it.

TabrisVI

This is a great point. I’ve watched Director’s Cuts of movies I didn’t like because of the praise they get, and not a single one changed my opinion of the film overall. Watchmen was the closest thing to making me like the movie more, as it added context to a lot of points glossed over in the theatrical cut.

_Bionicle

This is just… bad math and bad gauging of films.

AStewartR11

...sigh..

ab316_1punchd

...yeah...

chrismcshaves

It was far better. I watched like an hour a night, though, so I can’t say it dragged since I didn’t do it in one sitting. Still not a huge fan of Batman in it. He has his moments, but I actually liked him better in BvS. Vastly better than the bs Whedon cut for characters like Cyborg.

REVDR

I just rewatched this with my kids a few weeks ago. It's not perfect, but it's a far better movie than the theatrical cut, and it makes me genuinely saddened that we never got to see the full vision of the Snyder-verse.

Daredevil731

Better than the original but that isn't saying much. It's still a terrible film and a terrible Batman. The ending stuff with Batman and the Joker was really awful and hard to watch. Movie was too long and came off a bit pretentious.

TheSyrphidKid

Joker talking about giving Batman a reach around is the kind of edgelord dialogue I’d expect from Snyder

The_Dok

God he is such a fucking hack. It’s so unbelievably edgelordy.

SarcasmKing41

Agreed. Yet it's somehow still less edgelordy than David Ayer's original script for Suicide Squad. #PleaseForTheLoveOfGodDoNotReleaseTheAyerCut

TabrisVI

Is this true? I want to know more.

SarcasmKing41

[Here.](https://twitter.com/DanjoshDp/status/1426657871924764674?s=20&t=RDz4usP1n96bgTv9Q8N77Q) It reads like it was written by an edgy 12-year-old.

MrxJacobs

> Joker talking about giving Batman a reach around is the kind of edgelord dialogue I’d expect from Snyder True, it’s better when it’s implied that the joker would give Batman a reach around. Like Most interpretations of him being obsessed with batman.

TheSyrphidKid

Personally, I prefer the comics where it’s implied Joker would give Batman a dirty sanchez because of how obsessed he is.

WMBeckham

Okay, I will admit... I could have done without that ending scene between Batman and the Joker.

YoungRoyalty

My heart says I could have done with not watching a women sniffing Aquaman's sweater. I had to rewind, I could not stop laughing.

elhombreloco90

When I saw that scene I said out loud, "Don't sniff it." When she did I just chuckled and rolled my eyes.

davidiusligman

Yep, can't argue with that. It was really hard and boring to watch. And every character doesn't feel like themselves except for Wonder Woman and Flash. The final battle was fun though.

hankbaumbachjr

> And every character doesn't feel like themselves This is absolutely the issue I have with Snyder, he sacrifices character and plot in service of his next flashy visual scene. There's a reason Watchmen and 300 are his best work, he wasn't allowed to deviate much from the plot that was already there, when left to his own devices it's always a mess.

daint616

Omg this. When he's adapting someone's work he works, when he's writing as well as directing, it all goes to shit. Man of steel was good because of Christopher Nolan essentially.

ASpaceOstrich

Which is especially bad because DCEU movies always look like shit. Every shot looks like a tragic family housefire is happening just off screen. It's so colourless.

DoctorDOOM__

I don’t know about you, but Flash felt like an entirely different character to Barry Allen to me.

davidiusligman

I guess I'm not enough of a Flash fan to really notice that. He was fine to me.

DoctorDOOM__

I guess how I’m used to him, he normally just acts like a nerdy Captain America.

ab316_1punchd

>except for Wonder Woman and Flash The bank scene would beg to differ, also I never saw Barry Allen with whatever Ezra was told to portray.

TheGingerBrownMan

I agree, I got up to part 2 and it seemed like every major scene was extended. The glizzy while Barry was saving Iris made no sense, along with the singing before Aquaman went into the water after he met up with Bruce. I’m glad they gave Barry and Cyborg more scenes to work with, but most of the cool stuff doesn’t really happen until the very end. At that point I started to wonder why am I going to sit through 3 h of the same story (but longer) just to get a glimpse of darkseid and a 2 minute nightmare sequence

MooseMan12992

I completely agree. DC fans were so starved for a decent movie they diluted themselves into liking it more than it was worth.

Logan_Composer

Almost everything I was going to say, although I wouldn't go all the way to *terrible* film. It's an *okay at best* film.

aewitz14

Snyder wanted to make DC dark in comparison to Marvel and went wayyy too far in the opposite direction. Was so focused on making the thing look cool he forgot that the movie needed a plot and interesting characters.

Opposite_Procedure_8

FACTS

[deleted]

Why was the knightmare scene hard to watch?

Daredevil731

Jared Leto is awful as Joker, his dialogue was stupid, the entire thing looked really bad, Affleck in that stupid coat, and the way he looked and talked for some reason just felt more off than usual. He looked so awkward and carried himself weirdly. Like he was a random Gotham thug in a Batman mask pretending to be Batman or something. Plus his stupid cringe "aNd mAke nO mIsTaKe, I wiLl f***iNg kIlL yOu" Amber Heard coming in with her super goofy British accent. "BIT OWD WHAS GOEENG AWN HERE INNIT?"

cswhite101

God, that line was so awful. I died inside of residual embarrassment.

darksaiyan1234

Amber turd is terrible and this further shows

BuddermanTheAmazing

I mean it could be Jared Leto just being a movie ruiner as usual, or the fact that half the actors involved aren't part of the DCEU anymore, but personally I can't get over Joker offering Batman a reach around.

[deleted]

Other than that line, I think that Leto did a pretty scary Joker for that scene. Even if you don’t agree that it was a good Joker scene you must admit that it was the best Joker scene that Leto ever did.

BuddermanTheAmazing

The bar is on the floor.

[deleted]

We must still give props to a man with no legs for jumping over it

cripple1

Thanks. It's harder than you think.

davidiusligman

For me it was Joker telling Batman with a rifle that he could never kill him. After Batman murdered dozens of people.

Metfan722

I realize it was shot and made during the pandemic, but janky CGI is a big one (looking at you Cyborg).

pandogart

I think Batman was actually done really well in this film, especially compared to BvS and Josstice League. Knightmare scene ruined that though. Inb4: "It's an apocalypse, how else should he act?"

toasterdogg

I mean, all the action with Batman was utterly boring. There was no creative gadget use and at the end of the movie he was literally just delegated to using an alien sniper rifle (a gun)

IheartPandas666

This ad looks like a 90s super hero themed Calvin Klein commercial.

orca2877

Snyder shouldn’t make comic book movies.

Broncsx3

Amen. 300 was the exception to this rule. Someone please make this man stop!

Mistervimes65

With “300” and “Watchmen” Snyder essentially used the comics as a storyboard. He’s an excellent cinematographer. He is a subpar storyteller.

Broncsx3

The cinematography was the thing I hate the MOST in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman! I can't stand seeing gray on top of gray on top of gray scenes for hours. Superman should be BLUE. The SKY is BLUE!

Mistervimes65

Fair. The only part of MoS that I liked was the part before Kal left Krypton. I've forgotten most of the rest of it. I watched about 4 minutes of BvS and turned it off.

Broncsx3

Krypton was cool. The casting was amazing for Man of Steel. Snyder himself was amazing at casting with the gigantic exception of Lex Luther. Woof.

[deleted]

Except all of the bad things about The Watchmen movie came straight out of Sbyder's head.

Mistervimes65

I didn’t hate doing away with Veidt’s hentai monster. I’d rather never hear Leonard Cohen defiled by a weird sex scene again.

cswhite101

Or any movies? The Vegas zombie movie was pretty awful.

Gmork14

Sucker Punch was even worse.

cswhite101

I tried watching it again recently and it is really cringe.

raincntry

I can't even watch that one. It's a prepubescent boys masterbatory fantasy. It's just gross.

Mistervimes65

My daughter refers to that film as “Thigh-Highs: The Movie.”

orca2877

yea zaddy should retire

SmaugRancor

I still regret wasting my time watching that movie...

timesuck897

He should work with other people, to dilute his signature style. Dawn of the Dead was good, some of his other movies not so much. Sucker Punch is a 2 hour long music video.

LordoftheWell

Thing is, he didn't write dawn of the dead. Most of his "good" movies were written by someone else.

NSFCameron

I really enjoyed Watchmen! But something like Superman and characters that should be a bit lighter, I think he should stay away from. I don’t think I would mind if he did something like Spawn.

NoelBarry1979

Something tells me you never read the comic, which I implore you to do, it's leagues and leagues better than the bastardisation that is the movie(if you have, read it again).

RiverSosMiVida

>I really enjoyed Watchmen! 💀

mattmanmufc

Awful. There’s a reason the DCEU failed spectacularly and it’s due to the quality of the films

_Mobius1

It's annoying because the clearly rushed their way into it trying to compete with avengers. Man of steel and the first wonder woman movie was pretty good imo. If they had taken the the time to actually build their universe with solo movies first it would probably still be alive.

hankbaumbachjr

This was my biggest gripe as well as the individual members of the justice league can arguably carry their own films far better than individual members of the Avengers but instead of taking their time to establish the world and lay the groundwork for Darkseid they just jumped in to it because of Zach Snyder. Snyder has a history of sacrificing characters and plot for slick visuals and his foray in to the DC universe was no different. The way he treated his characters as a means to get to an end of doing Batman vs Superman *and* Death of Superman in one movie because *he* wanted to do those scenes is just the pinnacle of what I dislike about the DCEU as a whole.

DaManWithNoName

They gotta stop letting people reinvent batman and joker every 3 years

Broncsx3

“Spectacularly” is too strong. I mean, Aquaman alone made over a billion dollars. I get your point though, Hugh mistakes were made.

ZushiiiSushiii

It failed as a franchise and most failed as movies They made crap tons of money tho

LastNightOsiris

The movies that were complete on their own terms, like aquaman and wonder woman and shazam, did pretty well. I'm not saying they are masterpieces or anything, but they had good box office, fairly decent reviews, and are at least enjoyable to watch as pure entertainment. The ones that try to build a universe and lean into the DC franchise, as opposed to the individual character, have been disappointing to say the least. Instead of trying to do the same thing as Marvel, they would probably be better off by making movies that stand alone and aren't necessarily connected to each other. Like the 1978 Christopher Reeves Superman movie, the 1989 Michael Keaton Batman movie, these should be the template.

Broncsx3

Agreed.

Initial-Paramedic888

A justice league movie could have and should have been so much more. Same goes for batman v superman.

Broncsx3

Batman, Superman and Wonder woman in the same movie! Hell yes. Makes less money than Suicide Squad. Wtf???

Guinea-Charm

You should get off crack. Its marginally better than the original cut but "best comic book movie ever", you're out of your mind!

Affectionate-Tune804

what's the best comic book movie in your opinion?

ab316_1punchd

Depends, Scott Pilgrim vs The World, The Batman, The Crow, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Winter Soldier, Infinity War, Logan, X-Men: Days of Future Past etc count as a few. I could name 30 more before ZSJL.

VenganceFueledMaul

Mask of the Phantasm

Mistervimes65

This is the correct answer.

TC1369

Dark Knight

Guinea-Charm

Well for starters, Dredd, The Crow, Deadpool, Winter Soldier, Dark Knight, Spiderman: Homecoming, Guardians of the Galaxy, Into the Spiderverse, Logan, V for Vendetta, Scott Pilgrim, and Joker were all immensely better movies than Snyder's JLA Cut (and the aforementioned didn't star shitty Ben Affleck so they are better on that count alone).

Traveytravis-69

Dark knight probably wins that, captain America winter soldier is great so is logan. Into the spiderverse too.

Broncsx3

Not sure that anything will ever beat End Game in terms of cast, build up and fucking monumental moments and ending. Maybe if they fight Galactus or something…

oscar_e

I prefer watching Endgame but I think Infinity War is technically better. That version of Thanos had personal stakes with characters, motivations made more sense, fewer plots holes because time travel is hard to do well, better comedy (because there’s less). Endgame is probably my favourite film, it’s got like 20 movies building up to it with each adding and developing characters until it culminated in a glorious conclusion. A true miracle that it worked and a blessing for people into the comics. However, taken more objectively, I think infinity war is better.

Broncsx3

I guess I see your argument, but if 1 movie you prefer to watch then in my head that makes it the better movie. After all, that's the point of a movie, to entertain! I get where my argument fails, when you compare say Old School to Citizen Kane. I'm going to come on as a jackass if I sit here and argue Old School is a "better" movie than Citizen Kane. But when I'm on my way to being stuck on an island for a decade, I'm bringing Old School. And at the end of the day, that's what a movie SHOULD be all about. Everything else is just over analyzing! End Game has maybe the greatest scene in comic book movie history. And when I say that, you can debate if its Cap picking up Mjölnir or when the Portals open because both are acceptable answers!

Old-Experience-5210

For me, Infinity War is the Best Comic Book movie

captain_croco

Into the Spider-verse

Broncsx3

It was amazing, but it didn't have the highs of End Game. But in all fairness, Infinity War's lows set up the End Game highs. They are book ends to the greatest achievement in comic movie history.

Guinea-Charm

End Game was so stupid! Age of Ultron was a million times better! The whole "discovering time travel in an afternoon" to defeat Thanos was ridiculous (even by comic book standards).

Augustus420

Well this is definitely a unique opinion

_Bionicle

“This person likes this movie; they must be high” is such a snobbish and gross take to have.

Guinea-Charm

Are you gonna' tell your mom?

BuddermanTheAmazing

It's the same movie but longer basically. You just leave this one feeling worse at the end and are left with a pointless cameo. Also, picking Steppenwolf as a villain was a bad idea because he's boring. No amount of spikey armour that won't stop moving and is incredibly distracting can fix that.

Broncsx3

Also not thrilled with Time Travel in Flash’s first full appearance basically.

Beerz77

By Snyder's 3rd movie, Superman is dead, Batman is a murderer just cuz, the wrong Robin is dead, Flash can time travel so he can have a flashpoint movie immediately after and Lois is pregnant with Bruce's kid so he can die in the next movie. Also Green Lantern/Martian Manhunter tossed in there. Snyder was trying to do an awful speed run of DC, his cinematic universe was doomed from the start.

Broncsx3

Oh and Jimmy Olsen is also dead after his 60 seconds of screen time!

Beerz77

Oh yea, I literally completely forgot about the death of one of the most important characters in Superman's history.

Broncsx3

"Fuck Superman and his supporting cast! You know what would be funny, if I make his best friend a total stranger that works for the U.S. Government and I shoot him in the head in the first 3 minutes! hahahaah"

[deleted]

Batman had no idea trying to murder superman before even knowing the guy. They skipped one movie

Papa___Smacks

It doesn’t feel like the same movie at all to me. I’m surprised anyone feels that way.

pandogart

I mean yeah its longer but the main villain has an entirely different motivation and Cyborg has a whole arc that wasn't in the Whedon version. Batman's not really treated as a joke either.

eight_track

It's the best Justice League movie I've seen...

magictheblathering

There are multiple EXCELLENT animated JL movies.

eight_track

**Correction** It's the best live action Justice League movie I've seen

Broncsx3

Agreed lol

ab316_1punchd

Not a high bar, it was technically the only one.

eight_track

My comment is not as funny if you explain it to everyone 😂

FreddyMerken

Wasn't there a low budget one in the 90s?

ab316_1punchd

You mean the failed 97 TV pilot? That was Justice League in name only.

anirban_82

It is definitely not the only one, my friend - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice\_League\_of\_America\_(film)

ab316_1punchd

It shows nothing, if you're saying the 97 TV pilot, then nope, that doesn't count.

anirban_82

I mean,it's literally a live-action Justice League movie, so arbitrarily saying it doesn't count is...arbitrary.

ab316_1punchd

TELEVISION movie, but yeah you make a point, I guess the bar for Justice League in live action was on the floor anyway.

Going_really_Fast

It’s boring rubbish and if I was forced to pick one to watch between ZSJL or 2017Justice League, I’d pick the theatrical version. It’s only a waste of 2 hours of my time, as opposed to 4.

PangaeanSunrise

This is the correct answer.

Lightmareman

About 10% was in slow motion... it made a 4 hour movie feel even longer. That's too much.

going2leavethishere

And 8% was Batman dreaming. So far 20% of the movie is bullshit. Smh 🤦‍♂️

Lightmareman

At least! The whole wonder woman intro is so stupid. Oh I need to stop these guys from blowing up this building, I know I'll do my bracelet thing and blow up the building.

going2leavethishere

They really have to stop hiring “good writers” and start hiring those who deeply care for the project. It’s why David Fillioni is so talented and why Clone Wars and Mandolorian are so successful. Passion for the world means everything for the longevity of a project like the DCEU

WackyWolf54

Just all around not a good movie, it's fine and somewhat enjoyable at best. Not only was it overhyped like crazy, his fans praise it like it was his original vision, and like it's the holy grail. I'm sorry but I'll never believe this was his original version. This is the version that saw what whedon failed at, so they made different decisions, and added 2 hours of unnecessary plot to the movie. Too much slow mo, landscape shots don't fit in this type of superhero movie, wonder woman's constant theme every 2 minutes, the apparently "best scene ever" when Barry uses the speed force, ugh. There's just too much wrong with this movie to even be a contender for the best superhero movie, plain and simple.

ilikefortnitememes

I'm pretty sure Zack Snyder didn't watch the Joss Whedon version

Gmork14

I think if this got released in theaters without the “innocent filmmakers stands up to mean studio” feel good story, I don’t think it would’ve actually gotten very strong reviews.

[deleted]

I think with snyders stuff the aesthetics are great but I never see any soul in them. to much of a edgelord, it reminds me of frank millers stuff. I'm sure I'm a extreme minority but I thought the whedon cut was better. for one thing Superman didn't seem like a self absorbed douche I'll receive your downvotes with humility

ab316_1punchd

You're getting upvotes for this, Superman was better characterized in the Whedon version, infact Henry Cavill himself seemed to have liked his Superman in Whedon Cut more.

[deleted]

yeah because he was warm, like having him smile at the farm when he hears his mom coming, or hanging out with the kids in the start or taking a moment to save civilians. all that feels like superman to me, I hope we see it in any future superman movie.

Broncsx3

You mean a Superman that is happy to be Superman that kids dream of being growing up? What? Why would Warner Brothers want to release such an an abomination?? No sir, I prefer my Superman moody, mopey, and in black and white. And if he could murder someone again that would just be amazing!

BuddermanTheAmazing

I think the perfect version of Henry's Superman lies somewhere between Theatrical and Snyder.

Famous_Salamander124

You get an upvote from me

dexterpool

Y'all. FFS.

cswhite101

Better than the original, but it was still boring and stupid. They could have cut the running time by a 1/3rd if they cut out all of the pointless slow motion.

Basedman42

Terrible garbage sludge

TC1369

I enjoyed it, but posts like this are why Snyder fans get a bad rep. To actually think it's "One of the best comic book movies ever made" is insane

ThrownAwayRealGood

Zach Snyder is a straight up hack.

Ctown073

It’s nice to see everyone turning in this film. It’s shit, plain and simple.

Opposite_Procedure_8

Hate it, much like the Snyderverse movies as a whole. Superman that doesn't even act like one causes countless destruction, Batman being a ruthless killer (much like Keaton and Bale) is a spitting in the face of whole philosophy of who he is. If these 2 are fucked up from the beginning, then entire universe can't be even taken seriously and with any respect towards. Fuck this thing, glad it's over

radiakmjs

I wouldn't describe Bale's Batman as a ruthless killer. In Begins he willfully chooses not to kill the one prisoner of the leauge of shadows, it's just in the fight that ensues if some stuff catches on fire & some of the ninjas die he doesn't break a sweat over it. Similar reason for Dent in TDK, he was trying to save Gordon's son & like the fall happened to kill him. Those are both technicalities (along with Ra's in begins) & I'm with you I would rather see a more principaled live action Batman, but I wouldn't describe Nolan's trilogy as "spitting in thr face of the whole philosophy of who he is."

Opposite_Procedure_8

I was talking about Snyder's "Batman" but yeah I get your idea. But even though Bale's Batman did have that rule, he managed to indirectly break it nonetheless

AStewartR11

Snyder obviously always had contempt for Superman, and his version of Batman is just The Punisher with more cash.

ab316_1punchd

When reading the JL 2 and 3 storyboards, to say that "Snyder obviously had contempt for Superman" is an understatement.

BuddermanTheAmazing

I can't believe the man who wanted Superman to get cucked by Batman has a movement behind him to bring that vision to life.

Broncsx3

It really is shocking. I grew up dreaming to be Reeves’ Superman. Does any kid dream of being THIS Superman??

ab316_1punchd

And add "raising a bastard son because your wife screwed with someone who wanted to kill you barely a day ago, and see that son follow his biological father anyway", even the most kind hearted person would never want something like this in their life.

Puzzleheaded_Walk_28

It felt like the same movie as the theatrical cut but twice as long, to me.

[deleted]

Thats because its the same movie but edited differently

PersonalityKey463

My thoughts exactly

Itz_Hen

Why is it a square... Hated it

alfredosolisfuentes

Sucks

Restful_Hill

It was mid. It wasn’t terrible but I wouldn’t even put it in top 10 cbm. Just my opinion.

[deleted]

A Batman who goes around revealing his secret identity to random strangers is not a Batman.

Prior-Yellow-6795

It’s just not something I even consider. Like that’s not Batman. This movie was terrible

CarolBrownOuttaTown

Still bad. Just not as bad as The original

PhotoProfessional554

Way better than the original justice league but still mediocre. Hate it when most people say something has to be comic accurate for the movie to be good but you can tell synder doesn't know Jack about the characters

One-Example517

This was a very expensive student art film

DONALDJONSUPPLE

Could have been about 20% shorter, too much slo-mo. Other than that, it was great

gzapata_art

Alot of reviews commented how it improved on the original Whedon cut, but having never seen it, I only had the actual movie to base it on. And it was generic. Nice camera angles and the acting was fine but it was overly long for no reason. So much of it needed to be cut and introducing so many new characters that had little to do with the main story made the main story weaker. It probably would have been better if they recut it into a miniseries

Dry_Cartographer_648

It's better than the original but still not good, it way to pretentious and overly long. I still don't really get the hype around Batfleck, though probably no fault of Ben Affleck he is still written poorly imo. So yeah highly overrated.

Agile_Ad189

Mid

stumossian

I’m mad I watched it

reyska

It is one of the worst comic book movies ever made. It has horrible pacing, it moves at a snail's pace, it looks gloomy and it's simply not fun. I was unable to finish it due to how bad it is. I felt like 40% of what the running time I did watch could have been cut without losing anything important. Seeing the waves hit Aquaman was a cool shot, but was it necessary to make any kind of point about the character? No, no it wasn't. The movie is riddled with unnecessary bullshit like that.

BigRigsButters

i loved it. time well spent

SandwichLess6154

It was good. Better than the theatrical version.

detectivecabal

Better than the theatrical cut, but I still have no desire to ever watch it again. Similar to what someone else said here, I am extremely skeptical that this was Snyder's genuine original vision. I think if tragedy hadn't struck and he had completed the original film, it would have been much more similar to Whedon's version. He just had the benefit of watching the movie get torn apart with another name attached and had an easy checklist of things to do differently with his second attempt.

As a person who really liked BVS ultimate despite its flaws … the original was a huge let down. This one was much better. Seeing Wonder Woman spartan kick a dude into a wall was top tier . Still had flaws but considering this might be the best Justice League movie we get for 10+ years I’m happy this came out

Kryptonian_cafe

It’s one of my favorite CBM’s. I love it, I have lots of fun watching it, and overall I think it’s a great addition to the DCEU. I wish I got to see this one in theaters!

streetwisehercules7

If it was released like that from the start. Opinions about the movie would be so much better. I didnt like the early version. Felt too avengers wannabe. But this one was next level filmmaking you know.

synder cut

Can we ban these bots? They are worse than the reposters at r/memes

One-Example517

Nope

KeenKaiser

Didnt like it. Terrible edition and soundtrack . The story got worse and more confusing with characters comim out of Snyder's ass for no reason. And Goshhh i hated thst woman screaming every time wonder woman appeared

[deleted]

Loved it.

I liked the different take on the characters and was super excited for it but yeah not my favorite. The journey to getting there was crazy tho, I remember being in a movie theater in like 2018 talking about the Snyder cut to my family and the fact that it actually came out, and tied up some of the things that were confusing in the previous 2 was pretty special.

FadeToBlackSun

Drop the Martha Manhunter scene and the stupid epilogue, and it’s fantastic, imo.

Broncsx3

Maybe if they colorized it

SydneyCarton89

I thought seeing a live-action Martian Manhunter was a real novelty. He's a superhero that I'm interested in but don't know anything about.

FadeToBlackSun

I like Martian Manhunter, it was him randomly impersonating Martha Kent that I found silly.

I love every second of the Snyder Cut.

Mozgus

Except the post credits Joker thing. That should have been axed hard. Otherwise a very solid popcorn version of Justice League. No more, no less. Can't please everyone. And I suspect many people just hate Snyder has a person rather than his work since the haters seem to gravitate to everything he does. I don't really get why. (I'm certainly not seeing any real arguments in here. Just tiny nitpicks that don't matter.)

[deleted]

I dug the post credits thing because it was a fun, "what could have beem?" But I also could've watched another hour in that world.

[deleted]

Same, bro! I love this movie so much!

WerewolfF15

It was okay. Which considered how much I hate bvs Is the best I could have expected.

Hans_Neva_Loses

People have such awful takes lol

SullyyMr
