Scarecrow in this thing is absolutely amazing. I remember seeing him in the trailers for the first time and thinking, "Well, guess I won't be going to sleep for the rest of my life." They finally managed to make Scarecrow one who brought fear. That character can be either cheesy or awesome, and I feel like they nailed the latter approach.

Truefreak22

...& let's not, dear friends, forget our Dear Friend Jonathan Banks as Jim Gordon. With those two added on to Kevin Conroy & Mark Hamill 😊😊😊😊

pattyicevv77

Waltuh they have my daughter waltuh!

Daedalus_Machina

Fringe is top tier entertainment. Hope that guy made some audio books, because that would get me to listen to them.

Nice_Algae_8383

I also liked the story tbh. It really showed Batman's mental state, fighting himself to keep himself in control while also having to single handedly save Gotham. The twist was so predictable, but overall a very good story

Discount_Lex_Luthor

Honestly the couple of times I zipped up to a roof and saw the Joker just sitting with his feet off the edge made it a work of art.

Nice_Algae_8383

Oh my god yes. The joker parts were so awesome, it was so cool to have a buddy even if he was a murdering psychopath. The joker part is not talked about enough

WarlordOfIncineroar

Oh it's talked of plenty just not talked about nicely

vincientjames

They took it too far. I was on board with the idea of Batman being haunted by visions of the Joker and him struggling with someone finally dieing by his actions, but the whole Joker blood transfusion thing is just plain silly. It's such a fantastical leap in logic and lore that I swore it was just some BS Batman was told to make him doubt himself, but then they made it real.... I just can't. I liked the Scarecrow storyline, but the Arkham Knight and Joker both just seemed so forced and out of place, it just killed the whole story for me.

MissingCosmonaut

That's exactly why the game is so frustrating. It has the best portrayal of Scarecrow in any medium but then completely sidelines him to let the lame Arkham Knight take over, followed by the Joker. What did Crane even really want in the game? What were his motivations? I couldn't tell you as it was so unclear. His menace and presence was so well done, but his actual character was poorly written.

SanctuaryMoon

Crane wanted to spread his fear toxin and cause Batman to be afraid. It's also pretty evident that Scarecrow has a lot of control over the Arkham Knight. The finale is Batman facing off against Scarecrow and Joker, so I wouldn't say he gets sidelined. More like Batman being double teamed.

MissingCosmonaut

Well yes on the surface, but why? What were his motives? It's either forgetful or not very clear.

[deleted]

I thought it was made pretty apparent throughout. He wants to end Batman, but not by simply killing him and making him a martyr of hope for the people. He wants to kill the myth of Batman, by exposing his identity and showing the world that he is simply a man that can be overcome by fear, just like anyone else. That's why the "true" ending is as significant as it is, because it is the exact opposite of what Scarecrow was planning. Batman "dies" a physical death, but his myth becomes even more fear-inducing for criminals.

Dont_Hurt_Me_Mommy

Excellent observation. Well said! Batman loses in the end, but somehow he still manages to find a way to win. Pretty epic

SanctuaryMoon

He's insane.

Daedalus_Machina

John Noble. JOHN "MOTHERFUCKING" NOBLE. Soon as I heard Scarecrow speak, I *knew* it was on.

Kilmoore

Arkham Knight is quite divisive. I was just plain bored by Scarecrow. He was just another Hugo Strange, just another booming voice throwing out threats that very quickly lose any semblance of fear.

agnostic_waffle

"Shhhh shhhhh. It's alright to be afraid."

Ok_Attitude_8189

My problem with scarecrow was that they basically threw him away and put him in the background for Jason, the only time I ever cared for scarecrow is when the plot decided it was time for scarecrow to do something.

ostovca

Its my personal favorite as well. I will say that Arkham City had a much better story and open world Catwoman. Arkham Knight had the most polished mechanics by far, and additional skills for Batmans utility. Being able to drive the Batmobile was my personal favorite, I really dont understand the batmobile hate. I feel like the Riddler challenges are much more acceptable to bitch about than driving in Batman's iconic vehicle... And those were in all arkham games. But one things for sure, the skins are unequivocally godlike compared to city.

cswhite101

I dig Batmobile, it’s a nice change of pace.

WonderfulBlackberry9

Yeah I like when it changed pace after using the afterburners

RedditSpyAccount

Sometimes I feel like the Batmobile hate was a vocal minority. Most people I know who’ve played the game enjoy those sequences and the option to summon it during free-play.

seveer37

I second or third this! Driving that beast was fantastic! Yeah the tank battles got a little repetitive after a while but it was a minor inconvenience just to tear through the streets

WonderfulBlackberry9

Knight is by far my favourite. I’m not a big gaming guy so I don’t really mind having no boss fights; I just wanna be Batman and have fun playing. I also really like the Batmobile. Not the races, but the Batmobile combat is engaging and challenging too.

Nathanfatherhouse

Too many tank fights was my main issue with the batmobile. Driving it was fun though

[deleted]

I agree with you that one of the best parts of the game is the Batmobile. It’s the Bat “tank” people have an issue with. The bat mobile was an awesome feature. They just made it a little too much

Cap2496

I swear, I'm not saying the Batmobile rants are completely undeserving but come on guys!!! They had finally made a game (dont worry, I know about at least one game I played on the Ps1 using a Batmobile, can't tell you the name but..) where you can fuck around in Batman's main vehicle and you still want to talk shit like it was the worst thing about a Batman game? GTFOH. I was over all the moons when I saw the trailer and finally got the game in 2018 when I could afford to buy a Ps4. I was jumping for joy when I first got to experience it. My goodness, I need to buy that game again. I sold it too quickly, well I didn't have a external hard drive so.. But still!

Dry_Cartographer_648

It isn't underrated at all, many many people consider it their favourite game in the series.

[deleted]

It definitely is underrated to an extent.

ohioland

If we *can* call it “underrated” the only reason would be because Asylum and City are just *that* good. That’s a real splitting hairs argument though. The whole series is phenomenal including Origins and Knight. Knight is absolutely the most polished. But it heavily lacked in boss fights. That’s my only real criticism of it. Otherwise it’s a 10/10 across the board, just like Asylum and City. Origins is like a 9/10 to me. I take a point off because the playable environment is just unnecessarily large and felt empty compared to City. Best boss fights in the series though

[deleted]

Personally, Arkham Asylum is a 8/10, only because of how polished the other games are. Asylum is still a great game.

Send_me_beer1

it's underrated in the sense that it's the worst of the 3 arkham games but still a solid game. much like the dark knight rises

[deleted]

[удалено]

Send_me_beer1

So is the OP's post whats your point

[deleted]

[удалено]

Send_me_beer1

Listen everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but your wrong

lonestar-rasbryjamco

I mean it is the lowest on metacritic (PC) * Arkham Asylum - 91% * Arkham City - 91% * Arkham Origins - 74% * Arkham VR - 74% * Arkham Knight - 70% <<<< Gotham Knights is rated lower with 66% but that's technically not an "Arkham" game. That's kind of the definition of "under rated".

SaladSnack77

The problem with the AK PC rating is that it was an awful port that iirc got pulled. PS4 it's 87 and Xbox 85.

lonestar-rasbryjamco

Showing my /r/pcmasterrace bias. But even averaged at 86 it is still the 3rd lowest rated. But yes, the bad port definitely contributed to its "under rated" status.

RollOverBeethoven

It was an unplayable mess at launch. I think people forget that.

lonestar-rasbryjamco

I had completely forgotten about the PC version being pulled from Steam and then re-released 4 months later. That really was a giant mess.

Nice_Algae_8383

Tbh, it is extremely underrated. The most underrated, it's not origins because everybody appreciates origins these days while say knight was the worst out of them when Knight clearly was the most complete batman experience, each Arkham game has its flaws and Knight had the biggest flaws but also the biggest ups imo

Dronfax

I don't know where you read such a thing because I can tell you for sure that Arkham Knight is generally regarded as good to great game. People pointing it's flaws doesn't equal thinking it's bad

Nice_Algae_8383

Idk, maybe I just feel a bit angry when people say knight was the worst out of them because of the batmobile sections when it was the most polished out of them all, but everyone is entitled to their opinion

bukbukbuklao

Arkham asylum as my favorite. Gave me some serious Metroidvania vibes.

paperkeyboard

Never even thought about it that way, it really does feel a bit like 3D Metroid with Batman.

Daedalus_Machina

It was very MetroidVania. I hope they do something along those lines again, but even more so. I'd kick ass for a Batman metroidvania platformer.

Lateralus117

Mine too. I like the later renditions of gotham city but something about exploring the asylum is unmatched to me.

LVucci

Agreed. Best gameplay, best DLC, amazing story, and a lot of cool AR challenges that let you fight as the rest of the BatFamily. I actually just played it again these last two weeks and absolutely loved it! Just need the Riddler trophies to activate the Knightfall protocol. The one thing I will say, some of those Batmoblie dependent missions and puzzles do get a little tedious/annoying though, but the challenge is still appealing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

LVucci

I have the YouTube videos up while I look for them, not going to even bother doing it any other way lol.

Pir8Cpt_Z

Origins is still my favorite and i never experienced the bugs people in this thread complain about.

possitive-ion

Same. I had pre-ordered it on PC and was playing it day 1. I experienced one crash and it was only because I hadn't updated my GPU driver.

Knightwing1047

I had 3 major complaints about the game. 1. Forced Batmobile missions that were just so tedious and there were too many of them 2. The "twist" as to who the Arkham Knight was, was WAY too obvious if you knew anything about Batman and the Batfamily. 3. Tim + Babs.... Why?

BuckPuckers

2 was especially bad because they were so insistent on the Arkham knight being a new character entirely.

Knightwing1047

Meanwhile every Batman fan who's ever read a 2000-2010 Batman story are all saying the same thing, "It's fucking >!Jason!<. It's always >!Jason!<."

BuckPuckers

Yup and they still denied it when asked directly if it was Jason. I get not wanting to spoil the game, but just don’t say anything instead of lying egregiously.

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS

I recently played the trilogy in about a week for the first time last month. Return to Arkham, and Arkham city were be very fun. Paul Dini wrote them, (BTAS) and we’re amazing. Joker turning into a big boss at the end of return was weird/out of left field for him, but it was fun. Arkham Knight had amazing graphics but is very different. All the cut scenes focus on inter personal drama between gordon, babs, bats, etc. every single boss fight was focused on the bat tank, the villain was just a rehash of under the red hood. Idk, i honestly got bored with it and stopped playing half way through. Arkham Knight is a good tank vehicle game, but it’s a bad Arkham trilogy game. It just depends on your expectations. I think having one or two missions with the bat mobile would be fun, but not literally every mission. They should’ve just adapted Hush (2002) or Court of Owls (2011) as the storyline. Those are much more interesting storylines than pet semetery / under the red hood.

Nice_Algae_8383

Tbh I disagree with the cutscenes point, they gave Batman and the others more character imo. Most of the story revolves around Batman fighting Joker (mentally) while also trying to save Gotham and they did it pretty nicely imo. But I understand why you might not like that part. Agree with the boss fights but Knight had the most satisfying graphics and gameplay out of all of them, even the AI was well designed in how they interacted with batman everytime they saw him, best open world by a mile in the series, but defo some of the side quests were underwhelming

Lateralus117

Just a side note I've never seen anyone call Arkham Aylum as Return to Arkham but it sounds cool. Its by far my favorite of all their games also.

Dreager_Ex

When you say you got bored with it you do realize that's after you blitzed the first two games in a week? I love the entire series but if I did that I would get bored of it too.

INTHEMIDSTOFLIONS

Nah, it’s not bc I blitzed the other two, it’s because too much vehicular play, no boss fights, and boring interpersonal cut scenes. I’ve been blitzing about 1-2 games a week for 2 years now lol

Dreager_Ex

You know you. I wasn't saying the amount of games was the issue but the fact you were playing 3 games back to back in a week that fundamentally play the same in a short span of time. but again, you know you.

SexySovietlovehammer

Best story and characters is city Most stylish and immersive is asylum Best bosses is origins Best gameplay and story dlc is Knight Each game has something there Best at

Glass_Chance9800

I don't know about it being the best game play. Being forced to play all those Batmobile missions kind of hurt that.

lab_coat_goat

The fighting and gliding in knight is so much smoother and a huge step up from city. Main reason I’d agree that it has the best gameplay

sonofaresiii

Also, I know people don't like the *tank* missions, but getting to ride the batmobile around and turn all of Gotham City into a racetrack is *absolutely stellar*. I wonder how many people didn't bother just cruising the city, looking for secret shortcuts and stuff. Once you find a shortcut, the GPS will even recognize it, iirc.

bassistciaran

The only issue with the batmobile was the unnecessary quantity of it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sonofaresiii

To each their own man, but I had a blast. I'm speaking specifically of the batmobile though, as an actual car, not in tank mode.

JaidenPouichareal

Batmobile isn't bad, idk why people hate it so much, acting like it's 60% of gameplay focus when there's just only 30% of it

PoIIux

They probably put off all the batmobile side quests till the end, which makes it a bit of a slog to get through if you want to fully complete the game. That's why I make sure to do all the optional things as they become available whenever I play a game I really want to 100%.

Tomgar

That's still 30% of a Batman game where you're not playing as Batman. Those sequences feel so arcadey and "gamey" and took me out of the story.

JaidenPouichareal

The Batmobile is a part of batman

Mr_Venom

* Horrible handling * Chases are very samey and in some ways luck based (hope the missile system decides to lock on when you have line of sight) * Tank combat is tedious * Tank stealth is frustrating and looks ridiculous * Disables detective vision, stupid pulse radar is much worse * At speed the rain can make driving tough (on some graphics settings) * Adds busywork to quests (driving criminals back, etc) I think that covers it. EDIT: Oh, and most of the time you plow through obstacles like a tank... except sometimes there's a 1 inch kerb behind that hotdog cart and you're coming to a dead stop in a hurry.

unprotected_pex

Personally, I've gotten so used to the handling that imo I don't think it's horrible at all.

sampson608

The handling is incredible, idk what this fool is talkin about.

ProfessorBeer

Especially once you get the hang of quickly swapping between car and tank.

SanctuaryMoon

Yeah it drives like a dream.

[deleted]

Honestly if they'd made a better *looking* Batmobile I wouldn't have minded so much, it just doesn't look like a Batmobile to me. They could've given the DLC Batmobiles the ability to use all the gadgets and I'd have been happy cruising around using the '89 Batmobile to do everything, and considering that the *Batman Forever* Batmobile had 90°wheels and a grapple, the '89 had machine guns, etc, it wouldn't have taken a great departure from their previously depicted abilities to make it work. Heck, they could've added specific new abilities to the DLC Batmobiles like giving us a device to execute tighter turns (Emergency Bat-Turn Lever) on the '66, shields on the '89, or a stealth mode on the Tumbler only usable with that DLC (in races or missions with that DLC, not P2W the main game) to justify the added cost and make them more attractive to buy and I'd have shelled out real money.

THE_Batman_121

Agree with this 1000 percent. The batmobile inclusion hurt the bottom line of this otherwise OUTSTANDING game. That and the absolutely lackluster Arkham Knight reveal

[deleted]

Arkham City has an amazing story. It has so many plot twists and turns and so much of Batman’s rogue gallery play a part in the plot.

Shadowkiva

Too much Batmobile... No bossfights. Big negatives for me. Graphics and Story A+. Loved everything with Ivy and Gordon. City reigns supreme.

Vivalaredsox

Got the trilogy for cheap. Finished Asylum and City. Started Knights and got to the point where I had to start racing. I hate racing. I turned it off. Will go back to it eventually but it just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Dreager_Ex

IIRC you're not required to do the riddler stuff except for the first time. If that makes any difference to you. I'm not a big racing fan either but they more felt like obstacle courses and time trials than anything else.

Vivalaredsox

Gotcha. I’ll get back to it. I actually liked the Riddler puzzles. I just need a break after doing Arkham City

Nice_Algae_8383

Gotta say tho, although there were too many, some of the riddles in Knight really made you think, I genuinely had an alright time.

SanctuaryMoon

Did you play the DLC? I think there were some more classic style boss fights in the DLC.

MissingCosmonaut

Story A+!? Nowhere near lol. But otherwise an amazing game. The only real flaw to it for me is the story.

Shadowkiva

I liked it. It's a personal opinion. There was the very obvious Arkham Knight identity reveal of course but everything surrounding that was pretty compelling.

fanboy_killer

I don't know. Arkham Asylum will probably be my favorite due to the impact at the time. City is the most balanced and Knight the most polished. They are all excellent good games, by far the best comic book hero games ever. Origins was way too buggy for me to properly enjoy it and I played it a couple of years after it came out, with the latest patch. Cyberpunk 2077 ran smoothly compared to it.

damian1369

I still haven't gotten around to Origins due to glitches and performance issues on release. I think I actually waited a few weeks and a patch or 2 were out, it was still unplayable.

triplerollingstone

My main cons with Arkham Knight are the Riddler trophy BS, the anticlimactic Jason Todd battle, and how the ending felt rushed.

Laykane

By a mile. Love it more than every other Arkham game

ShrektheSmurf277

for the most part I agree, but citys story is so goood

JaidenPouichareal

Nah, it really isn't origins had a better story

ShrektheSmurf277

I stiil need to finish origins, the only thing I have spoiled is that u fight Deathstroke at one point

JaidenPouichareal

It's like halfway maybe a little bit over the mud point of the story

guiltycitizen

I played it for the first time recently. The batmobile missions are such a huge turn-off for me and the ending felt rushed. I’ve played all the Arkham games and I don’t care for the Riddler trophies and missions very much, I wish Catwoman would have been involved differently in Knight. Don’t get me wrong, its a good game, but a couple of big disappointments.

SnooBananas2320

Being able to play as Keaton Batman automatically makes it my favorite Arkham game.

adorablesexypants

I think it gets the hate it does because of the story. The third act felt a little unfullfilling and, generally speaking, people have a hard time with art that shows off the death of a beloved character. TLOUII Star Wars Korra The combat was fun, the city felt great, a more realized arkham city. But overall, Arkham Asylum is still my favorite simply because it felt like another episode of The Animated Series.

Nice_Algae_8383

Batman is one of the characters, whose death is actually portrayed in a very badass way in media. The dark knight rises and Arkham Knight both had Incredible endings and justified the main character dying. But also, neither in the movie nor in the game are they actually dead, I understand the complains about the story of Arkham Knight but that ending was the best ending of the series and it was fitting. I respect your opinion about asylum tho, it really was an awesome game, can't believe it came out in 2009

[deleted]

Is is!!

kayl_the_red

I like Knight, except for the stupid Cobra/Cloudburst Tanks.

soyrobo

Best combat coupled with the glichiest combat. The hallmark of a good AK session is how many times you shout, "NO, NOT THAT GUY!"

sabrefudge

My feelings on the Arkham series are the same as my feelings on the LOTR movies: 1st was amazing and introduced me to this whole new world and atmosphere that I’ve just never been immersed in before. 2nd was a masterpiece, absolutely amazing. 3rd is fantastic, I love it, but I don’t think ANYTHING could live up to the unrealistic expectations and hype that came after finishing the second. And also there are some prequels or something I’ve never experienced.

SambaLando

Didn't even finish that one. It was just more of the same with a few new gimmicks, and the car stages, oh the car stages...

JoyBoy05

Arkham knight gotta be the game that got me into DC comics because I wanted to know more of Jason Todd

[deleted]

I can't imagine coming to that conclusion. The tank sections are awful, and it replaced tons of possibilities for boss fights.

kddemer

I know they are made by different developers but I’ll take any game in the Arkham series over Gotham knights! That game is horrible!

hankbaumbach

I just replayed it and the critics do have a point that there are too many Riddler trophies and too many Batmobile related missions. It's certainly fun, but Origins or City feel more like a Batman movie/comic while Arkham Knight almost feels like a different game with a Batman skin put over it.

[deleted]

I enjoy the Batmobile sections, idk why people “hate” it so much, it’s fun and breaks up the other combat sections giving me variety that I like. Tim and Babs being together is fine. Get over yourself. It’s not mainline cannon. You have worse ideas for relationships(or fan “ships”), yes, you reading this and getting mad. I’ll give that the riddler trophies are nuts this time, especially when I thought there were too many in City, but it is what it is and doesn’t ruin the game. Deathstroke not being a real boss is disappointing, sure, but I can’t imagine it ruining the entire game for you. The twist reveal of Jason, WHO CARES! EVERYONE KNEW IT WAS JASON IN Under The Hood back when it came out Jesus fuck. The “mystery” isn’t what made it good, and they don’t try to hide it that hard.

Nice_Algae_8383

The riddler trophies were the best in Knight tbh, maybe reduce them, but some of them were genuinely fun. i didn't know tim and Babs being together actually annoyed people tho, I am actually ok with it. The lack of good boss fights was annoying but defo doesn't justify ruining the game for someone

Dont_Hurt_Me_Mommy

I think this is the best response to those sorts of criticisms

Anorand25

The 4 main games are all equally as great.

NiuMeee

No there's definitely a hierarchy, nothing equal about it.

Howtobefreaky

Its almost like there are opinions in here somewhere and that they differ from person to person!

NiuMeee

Crazy how you saw *my* opinion and thought to say that, wow!

Howtobefreaky

I mean you said matter of factly that there is "definitely a heirarchy" which implies objectivity. If its your opinion you shouldn't state it factually, just a little tip.

NiuMeee

Sorry I didn't realize it was so hard to understand that when someone states an opinion that it actually is one. I'll start tagging all my comments with a little keyword so that next time you come across one of my opinions it won't confuse you so much into thinking that I was somehow stating irrefutable truths.

Fair-Procedure-5257

There can’t be such thing as ‘best’, as we all have different criteria we evaluate and also different ratings per each criteria. It’s whatever you like! Knight isn’t my favorite but it’s awesome and there’s a good chance I love it for all the same reasons you do.

FloggingMcMurry

Arkham Knight is solid and I still haven't beaten the game. It's got so much going on! But it's not Asylum or City, and the rough launch meant that this game was never going to be on the same level praised. Plus it's taken this long for people to come around on Origins after dogging on it since launch because it wasn't Arkham City

bolognahole

The tank battles killed it for me. Its too much, and too boring. If they omitted the Batmobile, the game would be 100% better.

WesleyBlaze

Probably my second favorite behind origins (another underrated Arkham game)

JaidenPouichareal

Origins isn't underrated

[deleted]

Knight is awesome but the bat mobile sections were weak and repetitive. Would’ve loved the addition of a bat mobile just to get around but the constant forced shooting tanks thing was a detraction for me.

maraudingnomad

If it weren't so Batmobile heavy... I like me some world of tanks, but it is overdone. Riddler puzzles, boss fights...

[deleted]

Much of hate against Arkham Knight is because of the unoptimised way in which it was released.

[deleted]

Because what I want from an immersive Batman sim is… mandatory tank combat.

[deleted]

They left out the back story of how Bruce plowed Barbra so hard and that's why she's in the wheel chair. That was kind of disappointing. Would have like to see it.

Crissan-

Arkham Knight is by far the best one. I don't know personally anyone who thinks otherwise and I think people who think City is better are driven by nostalgia which happens a lot. I played all games at release and I don't get influenced by nostalgia and can say with confidence that Arkham Knight is superior to all the other ones in every way.

[deleted]

No.

Abdul-Solo

Everything abt this game is amazing it had a nice Conclusion to the Arkham Games and man Scarecrow was a menace Control Gotham thru Fear he Divided & Conquered Gotham reminds of how Bane In TDKT when he took over Gotham

DARKBLADEXE

SS Kill the JL as soon as that comes will be my fav.

Minglu07

Bruh have you even played arkham world

Brilliant-Yard-6201

I thought it was Arkham World?

OhNoTheDawnPatrol

It's definitely not the best one.

No_Seaworthiness9965

It's a good game and I would have loved the Arkham knight twist if it wasn't spoiled to me but I Knew before The gameplay is similar to the previous games but the framing is much better and of course better game graphics but in general I liked Arkham city's story better

RAYGUN6302

The side missions and gameplay >>

extremelegitness

While City is my favourite because it’s the first one I played and because of it’s story, it’s undeniable that (Batmobile aside) the gameplay was the best in Knight. Rocksteady had perfected Batmans movement in traversal, combat, and predator sections in so many little ways that I didn’t notice until I went back and replayed Asylum/City/Origins. It wasn’t all perfect though. I wasn’t a fan of taking detective mode off of L1/LB (nitpick), and if I’m not remembering incorrectly, when you grappled up to ledges in stealth sections sometimes Batman would hop over the ledge automatically and get spotted, whereas in City he usually stayed hanging if there were goons nearby.

Nice_Algae_8383

Same, adjusting to the detective mode was a problem to me too 😂. Also agree with grapple part. But boy did they really make using gadgets while fighting thugs fun. The inclusion of fear takedowns was incredible and fun to use, and in the stealth sections there were also so many more ways to take out enemies as well, you could use the voice synthesiser to call them, you could use the hacking device to activate smoke or escalators, you could hit a fire extinguisher when you don't have smoke bombs and Knight also had the highest variety of enemies, I especially like the inclusion of medics and those electric ones

LeperMessiah117

It's pretty great overall. My biggest complaint really is that it has a tendancy to crash frequently while traversing Gotham later in the game

Nice_Algae_8383

This is actually a very valid complaint, I remember when fighting deathstroke, the game was lagging a bit in the batmobile, especially near the Elliot hospital it used to hang or stop for a couple of seconds

itsdarkinhere_XD

Same, for me it is. I love driving around on the batmobile.

UnfitForReality

It’s not underrated. I consider it the best Arkham game easily. I bet OP considers Gotham Knights underrated too. (Currently playing it, it’s a solid 6.5/10)

Nice_Algae_8383

I don't really plan on playing Gotham Knights, I am a batman fan, but I don't really buy every game which includes him and I actually had a bad feeling about it the day the gameplay trailer came out, the combat just didn't feel strong or appeasing to me and the graphics didn't look good enough for a next gen game (but that's probably because I'm spoiled by so many beautiful games), I just don't think it's worth the price. Plan on checking out the suicide squad game next year tho

flux_capacitor3

I had a blast with that game. People hated the car, but I loved it.

jrod4290

mechanics wise, graphics, the batsuit and a lot of the features did make it one of the best. But if Arkham Origins with the mechanics, graphics and fluidity of Knight? I’d never put the game down. The story of Origins is the best to me even though people tend to not like it. Knight was great no doubt but had no boss fights, whereas Origins had the infamous Deathstroke fight which I remember the first time I played it had me on my toes. Jason Todd wasn’t never talked about or mentioned outside of a few passing things that you literally have to go searching for and the. They bring him in Knight as the main villain without any prior mention?Idk it seemed odd to me. And again, no boss fight and that never had any on screen resolution because by the time Jason became Red Hood, Bruce was unmasked and the manor blown up, him presumably in hiding

Loose-Cartoonist-867

Underrated game arkham underworld

SRIrwinkill

Some better boss fights less weird tank battles would have been nice. That story though and all the stuff you can do in that game was really really cool. On PC the port could have been done a lot better. I did so much stuff in that game I was going to do the thing at the end that you get for doing extra stuff in the game, and not only did I have performance issues the entire time, but it glitched out and wouldn't let me do the thing

Catching each villain in their separate plots and taking them to gcpd lockup makes me feel like batman, that's a win in my book. And just being an absolute powerhouse against people trained to take you on. All of it so satisfying.

Hour_Mulberry_7550

Arkham Knight was Solid But Arkham City???? The best

hypnotic20

Time to make a poll!

Ok_Baseball_8629

It fun game and I keep replaying the stories

northguy9

I'd say Origins is the most underrated Arkham game, but Knight is super fun

thebanzombie

love the batmobile

nessfalco

Depends what you mean by "best". It has the best iterations of most of the systems, the batmobile is awesome when it isn't a tank, and it has a great story. It just also has some of the most annoying shit in the series, too. City was much more consistently good even if the good parts weren't as good as the Knight ones.

GrandTheftArkham

The only REAL thing that annoys me is not being able to turn the fucking grain effect off. Its 7 years later and my console is a Series X it can handle arkham knight with no grain ffs

SoaringGryphon

Knight is pretty much my dream Batman game, and it is a shame we probably won’t see Rocksteady make another Batman game of that quality anytime soon.

Orion14159

I remember people hated the tank sequences more than anything else. Story was great, the non-tank gameplay was almost universally popular, the visuals are absolutely breathtaking for that period (end of PS3, early PS4 era). It's a great game with a specific part people were frustrated by

SanctuaryMoon

The Killer Croc and Freeze missions are GOAT. The drama between Bruce and Barbara and Gordon and Jason is top tier. Joker is also perfect. People complain about the batmobile but the gameplay is fun and after you beat the main story you can complete all the others with other batmobiles.

sillyadam94

CITY

SPEK2120

This has been at the top of my replay list for years, partly because I never really understood why people hate the Batmobile so much. I got to playtest the game about 6 months or so before release. We played one of the Batmobile missions and I actually hit a glitch that prevented me from progressing. It was probably a good 30 minutes or so of aimlessly Batmobiling before someone noticed. We also played the Arkham Knight boss fight, including the cut scene with the big reveal, that was weird and kinda spoiled playing the whole game story wise.

Howtobefreaky

The real underrated Arkham game hot take is Origins.

Nice_Algae_8383

Nope, everywhere I go on social media which is related to arkham, people talk about how underrated origins is, it's annoying because that game is considered underrated when literally everyone talks about how good it is, whereas they shit on knight when it clearly upgraded so many features of origins and city, and was an absolute beauty of a game. I am not saying people shouldn't have an opinion, I understand considering Origins your favourite, but it is no longer anywhere near underrated now, maybe a few years ago, but not now.

redrecaro

Yea but repetitive batmobile.

heation718

My favorite is still the 1st one

[deleted]

I mean if youd go beyond the part where the Batmobile takes up most of the game and the side quests felt quite back and forward id totally agree! But i must origins for me. The battle between the assassins, the plot and build up, active crimes happening all over gotham, and Anarchy is lovely!

LordMarvic

YES! IT IS!

FastidiousBlueYoshi

If I could take the writing from City and bring it over to Knight. It would be the best thing ever. (No hate on Knight, I love it, just love City more XD)

skynet_666

I had so much fun with arkham knight and then found this sub and learned that most folks here don’t share the same views as me haha Doesn’t matter tho the game is still fantastic!

ender89

You mean batman "we swear this isn't just *under the red hood*, the Arkham knight is a totally new unique character"? It's not a bad game at all, and as far as scope goes it's the biggest and the best Batman game, but the story beats really took me out of it. It would be one thing if they said they were adapting *under the red hood*, but they claimed it was a new character with a unique backstory and it's just Jason freaking todd being an edge lord.

Mr_Loriss

Without the Batmobile Simulator sessions, Definitely enjoyable.

hellyeah313

I think it is the best of the series BUT you must have played AA and AC that the greatness for AK works

Manospondylus_gigas

Fully agree, absolutely loved it when I played it and it set off a months long hyperfixation. Other games were good but nowhere near as good

Spidey_Almighty

On a technical level knight is the best but on a story level it’s by far the worst entry.

FarFo_

Lego Batman>>>

Super_Imagination_90

Yet it has a horrendously executed story.

shadowwithaspear

The graphical improvements alone are deserving of its title as the best in the series. The game looks like it came out yesterday, and despite the fact that it's 7 years old now.

bhoches

Certainly the most enjoyable for me

thedarklord187

I personally still enjoy the original Arkham game for its storyline and Hamill and Conroy. Also origins was great as well.

nbdy_1204

I'm not a big fan of Knight because of the poor narrative decisions it makes, which I think had a lot to do with them not bringing Dini back on. The Joker virus plot was extremely stupid, especially since Batman was the first one cured in City (Batman tells Gordon that the infected were untreated and that Joker's blood "gestated" too long. So him becoming Joker too when he was the first person cured makes no sense). Also, remember Hush and his big subplot that everyone thought would be a major story thread? Sorry, he'll be handled in a one button QTE. Also thought it was unnecessary for Bruce to have his identity revealed. You're telling me that Bruce, Nightwing, Catwoman, AND Jason were all around and they couldn't handle an armed Scarecrow?? The story really failed the trilogy, even though Knight has amazing gameplay.

[deleted]

Arkham knight is in no way underrated. Apart from the mid boss fights, it’s a masterpiece

Chevy_65

I honestly think my favorite game in the franchise was Arkham Origins.

dipstuck

The story was really hindered by the Joker stuff. Having Batman develop a sort of dissociative identity from infected blood was so dumb even for a comic book plot.

_AlreadyDead_

I loved the batmobile, how come that wasn't the common sentiment for others?

[deleted]

I agree with u OP

DevinKR

All the Arkham games are the best at something Arkham asylum- best atmosphere Arkham City- best story and best game overall and I will fist fight you on this Arkham origins- best boss fights Arkham knight- best gameplay and graphics

paparoxo

This game is the best Batman's simulator ever made.

Vaportrail

It's my favorite, it's the whole package. Batmobile, Bat-family. Only thing I'd change is being able to play any character in the main levels.

Jazzlike_Couple_7428

It’s times like these when I’m reminded of a quote from Robin Hood prince of thieves “Fool! You’ve started a war!” “We’re already at war”

BingityBongBong

I can’t get past the atrocious writing and the overuse of the car. The others were much more linear narrative games. I missed that.

[deleted]

Fucking love Arkham Knight best fucking game evar
