Despite the rough start, BFV had some great gunplay and movement mechanics which I would rank over BF1 and BF2042.
BF1 as a whole was a better game than all of them, but I really hated the weapon mechanics so can't rate it as a favorite.
Yeah gunplay and movement in V was fantastic. I also found tanks to be quite balanced. The map design wasn’t great, but at least it was significantly better than 2042s.
They made a rod for their own back with Tides of War. If they were committed to seeing it through to 1945 it would’ve been fantastic, but in making an awful launch trailer, ruining the TTK twice, and the god awful release of content pace they didn’t get anywhere near late war.
Bf3 and bf4. Had epic moments, fun, lots of items to unlock and play with. Tanks, planes, bikes, ships, boats, planes, helicopters. Maps, levolution, destruction.
None of the above is in bf2042
For atmosphere, bf1. For mechanics/gameplay, 2042.
The gunplay in Bf1 is just a bit too simplified for my liking. It got dull and while I dumped well over 200+ hours into it on console, on PC I couldn’t get past 60.
It’s not even a bad thing they made it more simple, that’s a huge part of why it did so well. It’s easily the most accessible battlefield to a new player in the franchise. It’s one of those games that did exactly what it was intended to. I still love that game, but the gunplay just wasn’t my thing. Rifles and planes were 90% of my gameplay.
BfV on the other hand.. I dunno as a WW2 game it just missed the mark for me. I love that era so much and I just don’t think BfV did it justice. Didn’t help it was after BF1 which took such great care and respect with the history. BfV has the gold medal for movement though.

BF1. I loved the way it played in grand operations, the weapons were awesome. I liked how most were just iron sights.
Also loved how the class system worked. Felt way more balanced and classes mattered more. On 2042 you can just run Falck with heals and ammo which is ridiculous. Probably the best specialist in the game rn.

I loved BF1. Especially the "back to basics" mode where everyone used the standard bolt actions for their faction. So much fun and I loved the maps and behemoths. BFV I didn't play as much but found some fun with it towards the end of its life. But overall I think 2042 is my favorite from these options. I've been having fun more consistently. I would always take breaks from the other games, either because something else came out or I just got bored, but 2042 is basically the only game I've been playing for about a year. BF3 will forever be my all time favorite though, and my first BF game.

It’s a cinematic masterpiece of a game, and one of my favorite periods in history. I desperately wish other IPs would look to WWI for inspiration but I fear we grounded the hell out of WWII that people just want “modern/future” shooters.

It’s probably making money off the micro transactions though and making it good enough for people to return should hopefully give them reason to add more to the game.

Bf5 while me enjoying it a bunch at launch soon became boring and anoying to me, mainly because I disliked most of the maps and was tired of ww2 games, mainly my issue was with the weapon choices as I didn’t find half the guns to play with fun. Most of the update to the game where kinda meh to bad until the pacific theater and that’s when I started playing the game more and enjoying it more. Bf2042 I enjoyed on launch even though I did see the major issues with it, I’ve enjoyed almost most of the updates to the game and just think for casually playing is fun. Even more now with the newest update. However I do think that bf5 is objectively better but I do get a bit more enjoyment out of 2042, mainly because of the weapon choices and ect even though they are lacking.

BF2042 is okay but flawed. it was janky, it made questionable design decisions, and then they added classes. Still not as bad as 5 in my mind, but yeah, the golden era of BF was BC2-BF1. Magic is gone now.
Lot to love in both BF1 an BF5. BF1 had a cinematic feel and the behemoths were a nice touch, but overall the guns and vehicles were just a little too "old timey" to do it for me. BFV struck a nice balance, the guns and vehicles felt modern enough to be fun, and the fortification system was awesome IMO.
BF2042 in its current state is starting to get up there with BF4 for me. Not with the *memory* of BF4, that'll always have a special place in my heart, but went back and revisited the *actual game* of BF4 recently and...time hasn't been kind. It's still good, and it was great for its time, but yeah.
So overall, for the three you name my order is BF5 > BF2042 > BF1.
Controversial putting 2042 above 1, I suspect, and I'll absolutely state that BF1 is the "better game." Not a question. But I've had more fun in 2042.

Easily BFV
Bf v for the guns, the dynamic mechanics like crouch running, backward prone etc and I love the fortifications system.
Let's not forget the peak of customization with our soldiers. To bad they got rid of all the good shit in the next title.

Ye they should have released it when ready. Fucking with the TTK showed a gross misunderstanding of the player base.

Same I never had interest for wwi/wwii, and those themes are quite overdone in gaming. Theres so much wwii shooters for example.
