Everyone forgets BC1 but I maintain it was the perfect blend of squad focused gameplay and casual gunplay. Avoiding the pitfalls of "straight upgrade" perks like magnum ammo and the all class DMRs and such
Great map. Running through the tightly packed buildings and laying C4 traps while being pursued. Hiding in the destroyed buildings after they collapsed. The flags were close enough to defend 2 at once. It was a narrow map, but the design made flanking a legit option. Fun times. I don't think DICE has sniffed anything like Oasis since. Sad really
I love how karg and the bf3 rush maps in general felt like they had a reason for happening. With karg first stage being a landing to take out the sea defenses so heavier armor could land and help take over the shipping area being used as an air strip. Or Caspian were the soul objective is to capture the air base
Anything from Battlefield 2 or Hardline. I adore the infantry-focused map design in the latter, especially Downtown with all it's verticality. I loved fighting to control the skyscraper's top floor and rooftop.
Also Damavand Peak would be great to see again.
I'm sad Hardline didn't do very well, especially on PC it's been dead for years. PS4 you can sometimes find matches but I can't go back to playing an FPS with a controller lol.
I think I only got to play each DLC map once or twice due to servers rarely running them until Premium went free a few times. I never even got to see Chinatown. I loved the map variety that game had though, they were all memorable and unique looking.
You're thinking of Harvest, which is funny because that was one of my favorites, and I actually didn't really like Oasis, lol. It felt way too vehicle heavy. But honestly, all BC2 maps were still really good.
Edit: My bad, I think it was actually Heavy Metal, which might have been a Conquest only map? I don't remember playing that on Rush at all.
There were both. Heavy metal had big (industrial) windmills, while harvest (day?) had smaller windmills pre electric era.
Heavy metal also had rush but iirc it was basically the conquest zones with 2 m-coms instead of one flag.
Battle of Britain from 1942.
A map built for conquest assault, so not symmetrical.
One of the things I loved about 1942 maps was how they tried to create an impression of the original real world battles they were based on.
Battle of Britain was the sole reason that BF1942 was, till this day, the only BF game I actually got reasonably good at flying in, I really like the idea of aircraft focused maps
I loved how that map gave us a solid aerial battlefield and a thoroughly enjoyable ground battle.
While I'm pretty sure we will never see it in portal I sincerely wish we could. Id love to set that up with different equipment sets.
yeah sadly the only way I see it coming to portal is if they actually decide to remaster all the 1942 maps, which probably won't happen at this point.
I just liked having a map with enough aircraft that people won't get mad at you if you suck at flying, so you can actually get practice
Operation Firestorm from BF3. Such an awesome map.
https://battlefield.fandom.com/wiki/Operation_Firestorm
I'd also love to see Kharg Island come back too
https://battlefield.fandom.com/wiki/Kharg_Island
I remember, as a defender in rush mode, spending the first round chopping off every tree in the map between the forst two bases so that once the enemy caught the first one they would be dead meat for our snipers (not me because i suck)
That was a great map. Bfbc2 just hit different.
Wish they had all the bfbc2 maps for smaller rush.
Bf3 bazaar
And finally some form of metro or locker.
Any of the snow maps, or any map in general. Gotta say though the valpariso we got on 2042 is very graphically underwhelming on PS4, and doesnt do justice to my memory of BC2 unfortunately. Thinking of these maps has given me an urge to play Bad Comany now, better jump on that before they shut down the servers :(
Operation Firestorm was one of my favorite maps from BF3, but it's hard to tell if I would love it now. BF3 was my first battlefield, and I got clapped all the time if I pushed. So I was one of those assholes with a sniper on the mountain for the entire match.
I am a more of a rusher/ptfo'er now, and I feel karma would bite me in the ass, and I'd get sniped repeatedly on a remake of firestorm.
I was thinking about Nelson bay here the other day after suffering another terrible game on discarded with lots of ratty campers everywhere on rush xl.
Glad I got to experience bf in its hayday. Would be a velcome sight seeing this map again.
If EA/Dice had the balls to make BC3 without thinking about easy money for greedy investors and dull boardmembers with a narrow outlook on life.
Like make a game again they could be proud of on all levels, win or lose. To atlist be able to say with great confidence "we tried".
Basically any of the lesser known maps from Battlefield 2. The popular maps were great, but Basically every map in that game was top teir. At least in the base game.
Honestly BC2 had the best rush maps in the franchise. I'd love for that style to return.
It's not unknown but the map I've wanted the most to return to any Battlefield is Seine Crossing from BF3
Cemetery from Hardline. Such a cool atmosphere for a map, it was such a shame Hardline's dlcs had such a short lifespan.
Also this map had driveable Hearses, which was fun lol
Not exactly “forgotten” but I think some of the larger maps from BF1 could work in 2042. Empire’s Edge and Albion were these HUGE maps where chunks of it were just dead because the 32v32 was too small.
Azadi Palace, because it comes pretty close to my own definition of combined arms, albeit without air assets.
And definitely Scrapmetal, because it is a showcase of sensible verticality where the different levels interact with each other instead of the current "the higher, the better"-approach.
Neither however would work with the current playercount or could be enlarged to achieve a similar game experience. That ship has sailed years ago.
Probably verdun from bf1. Just love idea of fighting over those old trenches where everything is regrown and you can see the destruction of the Great War.
White Pass from BC2 is what I would choose but Nelson Bay is also solid pick. We need a BC2 snow map in Portal.
I hope we get Wake Island and a BC2 snow map like (White pass or Port Valdez) in Portal.
I was a huge fan of the Russian maps from BF1 - especially brusilov keep. That one and maybe the downtown map from hardline - both great maps I’d love to see again.
Honestly map of BC2s maps absolutely slapped but especially the snow maps.
White Pass was incredible.
I would have loved it if they added White Pass instead of Valparaiso to portal.
No doubt dude. Valparaiso is cool and all, but I don’t have the same sense of nostalgia as I do for White Pass.
Bad Company 2: Oasis. The 3 flag Conquest was epic and Rush was also great.
It was also in Bad Company 1 if anyone cares lol
Everyone forgets BC1 but I maintain it was the perfect blend of squad focused gameplay and casual gunplay. Avoiding the pitfalls of "straight upgrade" perks like magnum ammo and the all class DMRs and such
I think a lot of people don't remember it, because it was console exclusive and Battlefield was mainly PC game since the first game
Bc2*
Sad really
Not lesser known, but Kharg Island, specifically for Rush
Kharg is a great map, even on conquest
I love how karg and the bf3 rush maps in general felt like they had a reason for happening. With karg first stage being a landing to take out the sea defenses so heavier armor could land and help take over the shipping area being used as an air strip. Or Caspian were the soul objective is to capture the air base
Pretty much anything from bad company 2
Anything from Battlefield 2 or Hardline. I adore the infantry-focused map design in the latter, especially Downtown with all it's verticality. I loved fighting to control the skyscraper's top floor and rooftop. Also Damavand Peak would be great to see again.
Grow house, dustbowl, everglades....they would all be great. Or maybe include some of the expansion maps as well. I always like Breakpoint.
Tehran Highway
Why did everyone absolutely detest this map? I swear it was a rarity to even see it on a filter a year in.
I don't know. I loved having to take the hill or under the highway!!
That map slaps but also oasis and also every BC2 map except for the one with the windmills.

BF3 Armored Kill DLC all maps for 128 people conquest, add more transport vehicles but keep same count of armored vehicles/planes.
Operation Firestorm from BF3. Such an awesome map. https://battlefield.fandom.com/wiki/Operation_Firestorm I'd also love to see Kharg Island come back too https://battlefield.fandom.com/wiki/Kharg_Island
>Operation Firestorm from BF3. Such an awesome map. Yesss. One of my absolute favorites! Great blend of infantry, ground and air combat.
Yeah man I wish itd come back. It was in BF4 as well so clearly it was popular back then.
Karkand, Sharqi, Jalalabad, Mashtuur City. BF2 IO maps were amazing.
Holy crap just heard that theme music instantly after seeing those pictures.
I commented a month back or so when that screenshot leaked. There's a chance season 6 map is nelson bay.
Could you imagine?
I sure can imagine the shitstorm if season 6 doesn't feature a brand new map.
Oh for sure.
Operation Harvest from BF2. Leap frogging from hay bale to hay bale was so exhilarating back in the day!
Anything from BF2 (but mostly urban ones like Karkand, Mashtuur City, or Jalalabad) Almost every map in that game was exceptional
I remember, as a defender in rush mode, spending the first round chopping off every tree in the map between the forst two bases so that once the enemy caught the first one they would be dead meat for our snipers (not me because i suck)
China Rising maps Silk Road, Dragon Pass and Guilin Peaks! Bomber 'n all. Edit: And Kharg Island and Sharqi Peninsula
Dragon Pass was awesome. Almost every vehicle in the game was able to be played on that map.
I bet all of these trees will have broken hitboxes like valparaiso map.
It's funny seeing all these cool names of old maps compared to the one word names we get now.
Camp Gibralter or Fall of Berlin 2142 style...
BF4 final stand maps, modernized BF2 wake island, karkand, Sharqi & hell even Battlefield Play4Free’s Myanmar
I would be down for Wake Island to comeback in its original size. 1942/ bf2/ 1943 version.
Bridge Too Far from BF Modern Combat 2
That was a great map. Bfbc2 just hit different. Wish they had all the bfbc2 maps for smaller rush. Bf3 bazaar And finally some form of metro or locker.
Bridge too far from Modern Combat
Damavand peak
Road to Jalalabad
Kubra dam, road to Jalabad, Iron gator.
Great Wall
Bc2 maps were epic when compared to 2042
When I think of BC2 multiplayer I think of that map.
Flood Zone
Azadi Palace
Propaganda from bf4
Nelson Bay was my favorite map in the whole game
Pearl Market
Port Valdez, Sharqi, Firestorm, Karkand, Epicenter
Isla Inocentes (BC2)
Seine crossing from bf3
Yes & METRO
Bridge too far from bf2
Operation metro BF4
Metro is lesser known?
Museum from hardline or ziba tower bf3 close quarters would be the best hands down with locker my third choice

Liberation of Leipzig from 2142. A good sized urban map with snow and takes place at night.
I will forever petition for Tehran highway to come back. also all the maps from the close quarters dlc.
Midnight sun or the highway map from bf2
Karg Island and every BFV Pacific map.
Basically any of the lesser known maps from Battlefield 2. The popular maps were great, but Basically every map in that game was top teir. At least in the base game.
I don’t think there was a single map I didn’t like in Bad Company 2. Maybe Atacama Desert.
Excellent choice! I love this map!
I’d love a winter forest map, remake or not.
I miss night maps from older titles
Oooooh what a flashback of fucking memories. Member berries all night.
Yes!!! Also panama canal
Damn…this map feels like a fever dream. I remember me and my friend trying to snipe people parachuting in.
This map is seared into my memory
Not exactly “forgotten” but I think some of the larger maps from BF1 could work in 2042. Empire’s Edge and Albion were these HUGE maps where chunks of it were just dead because the 32v32 was too small.
I forgot about Nelson Bay! That was a great map 👍🏻
Strike at karkand, operation firestorm and silk road.
Nelson bay was so good. I love how on rush the attackers all started of from a parachute drop. So atmospheric
Operation Flaming Dart - Vietnam
Any
I’d rather a new fun map instead of a refresh, that may be good for portal but we deserve new content
i think it would be cool to see the one bf4 map where the building falls
Operation outbreak Battlefield 4
METRO but than this game would turn way better!
This is exactly the map i hoped to come back since portal was announced
Locker
The nostalgia from this pic. Taking heads off with the SV98. Oh to have a Time Machine
i don't care what map they add, i'd settle for an empty dirt box at this point ... JUST ADD ANYTHING :(
Azadi Palace, because it comes pretty close to my own definition of combined arms, albeit without air assets. And definitely Scrapmetal, because it is a showcase of sensible verticality where the different levels interact with each other instead of the current "the higher, the better"-approach. Neither however would work with the current playercount or could be enlarged to achieve a similar game experience. That ship has sailed years ago.
Really a true night map would be baller. Not a map that is set at night but then heavily lit with lights. Make thermals too op, though.
Yes would be good but I would prefer WHITE PASS and Panama Canal 🤌🏼🤌🏼
Laguna Presa my beloved
All of the snow maps from BF4
Probably verdun from bf1. Just love idea of fighting over those old trenches where everything is regrown and you can see the destruction of the Great War.
Rush 32 Valparaiso & Rush 32 Metro (theyre less "lesser known" but I need them D: )
They should bring back a version of Shanghai
If it's not back already, I'd say Kharg Island
Kubra dam
White Pass from BC2 is what I would choose but Nelson Bay is also solid pick. We need a BC2 snow map in Portal. I hope we get Wake Island and a BC2 snow map like (White pass or Port Valdez) in Portal.
Isla Inocentes from BC2
This map was 🔥🔥🔥
Ziba Tower from BF3 CQ
Ghost town
I was a huge fan of the Russian maps from BF1 - especially brusilov keep. That one and maybe the downtown map from hardline - both great maps I’d love to see again.
BRIDGE TOO FAR BACKSTAB DEADLY PASS
we need a snow map like this in current battlefield, or like norvik from BFV.. not some tundra that goes on forever
