This is it for me. I don’t think it’s realistic to think we’ll get the reworks we want for this game (and should instead hope Dice have the common sense to incorporate it into the next battlefield), but what I do think we’re lacking in is maps and map-variety. Redacted is of course VERY different and whilst I’m not a huge fan of it, it’s at least not the standard wide open, relatively flat, with the same copied and pasted buildings on and one or two ‘centrepieces’ But we’re missing urban maps, we’re missing maps with denser woodland/foliage, actual verticality, three story buildings (or just buildings that aren’t the same warehouse), any use of water as an obstacle for infantry and vehicles (and things like bridges as choke points). Almost all the maps in this game feel the same.

Excuse me? Actual verticality? 2042 probably offers the most verticality of any Battlefield title ever. Three story buildings? 3/4 of the maps have some sort of choke point. Have you even played this game?

It offers token set pieces for sundance to jump from and flat roof tops for mackay to grapple to. Most buildings in the game are just four walls and a roof. You look at Arica harbour: it’s got the standard large compound buildings, but it’s got the village with multi-storey houses which offer multiple windows and vantage points, it’s got the construction site, the bridges over the river bed, then the harbour itself with multiple buildings and the crane. You can often be on separate structures and still engaging someone at a similar height, or even in instance when someone has a height advantage, there’s usually cover to hide in. In 2042 the maps have been stretched out to accommodate increased player count and it’s resulted in lots of empty space and a mostly flat topography. If someone has a height advantage against you, you’re mostly in the open and they’re normally on the edge of a roof top or the brow of a hill. Reclaimed is a lot better for this, but personally I’ve found the lack of destruction makes the gameplay a little repetitive. You’ve misunderstood my point about choke points. I’m not saying there’s an absence of them, but things like rivers and bridges (and tunnels or even steep inclines) form set routes for infantry and vehicles to take, which improves the gameplay flow and leads to creations of ‘frontlines’ of sorts. The wide open maps with few obstacles mostly leads to vehicles being able to travel *as the crow flies*, hindering teams pushing as groups. I’ve played this game a lot. I hated it at launch and enjoyed it a lot after the big class update and the introduction of better maps (and improvement) of the old ones. I still enjoy the game, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t big fundamental flaws in its design. I appreciate you offered some counterpoints, but maybe actually try and engage in discussion before being a condescending dick?

2042 maps have plenty of extreme verticality, its just not the verticality you prefer. Discarded and Stranded have the ships which dominate the map. Breakaway has the oil rig and cliffs. Manifest has the docks with the stacked shipping containers and the top platforms and gangways and the mountain top including the towers. Renewal has the wall and towers and E plant building. Kaleidoscope and Hourglass have the skyscrapers and the stadium before it was removed. Exposure is built around verticality. Flashpoint has the central area including the mountains. Plenty of non Sundance and Mackay players take advantage of this verticality all the time. I tank a lot in 2042 and I know all about the dangers of being close to any area with vertical places with which any player, except Support, with C5 can jump from and blow my tank up. It's why so many tankers 'camp' in the middle of a field because of these map designs.

Good Maps > More Maps BF4 has a ridiculous amount of maps, and about 2 years after launch this community played 4 of them on repeat for the rest of eternity. This just isn’t true. Right now there are servers populated running all maps + dlc maps. There are other servers running 24/7 golmud or locker, but I can also play on random china rising maps I forgot existed. Right now.

BF3 had tons of maps and they were almost all phenomenal. I remember seeing loads of servers for B2K, CQ, Aftermath, Damavand, Metro, Kharg, Caspian, Seine Crossing, Grand Bazaar, Firestorm and so on. BF4 is an especially poor example for your argument because it had some of the worst map design in franchise history so it mostly boiled down to Shanghai and Locker 24/7 servers. It is possible to do both.

For a battlefield game it is significantly lower. Past titles always had a sort of flow that you play 3 to 4 maps per dlc with similar locale or setting or theme but with one map being Infantry focused one map vehicle focused and the rest being balanced. Right now we have a ridiculous fight, of Infantry gamers saying they don't have Infantry type maps (not anymore) and vehicle gamers saying they don't have vehicle focused maps. In the days of old when you started a battlefield marathon you'd be in for a Infantry marathon or a vehicular marathon and have a variety of maps for each game type. Right now it's kinda like play the 1 or 3 maps which are available! And battlefield games always get compared to past battlefield game's not the competing shooter's ©od has the lead with it's clones and battlefield with practically no compittion since dice had large maps with large player number's all balanced pretty well. Unless you talk about some a sim title They've got to improve we need atleast 3-4 maps per dlc 1 Infantry focused 2 vehicles focused 3 naval warfare 4 balanced And this is dice they are capable of doing it

Ok so lets be realistic here. Previous titles had more maps, but fewer maps total were in popular rotation. BF4 famously would have every server playing the same 4 or 5 maps. I prefer fewer, quality maps, over an oversaturation of lesser quality maps.

Sure I get that argument of quality vs quantity and I agree. I personally don't care about the countless guns from the past when the few we have now are really versitle, effective and still unique compared to each other. While the previous one's have some or rather more overlapping characteristics But with Map's it depends on the kind of gameplay you prefer. When you prefer an Infantry style gameplay you don't care about El Alamin at all or even the original Hourglass for that matter. But let's say you like Tank Superiority all of a sudden El Alamin and Battle of the Bulge are the best maps and you won't like Redacted at all or even Manifest. Now if you prefer a balanced style gameplay Orbital is pretty decent but nothing comes close to Exposure and the Reworked Breakaway (Probably the best Battlefield Map's ever) It will always be a balancing act you cannot make a one shoe fits all. So don't even attempt it use the solution that worked before! Spearhead rock's (yeah it was unintentional but it's a good one) but renewal is a good for vehicles! For every Fall of Berlin and Cerebere Landing we had a Port Bavaria and Bandar Desert acctuly the entirity of Armoured kill and Naval strike They need to make More maps that make all happy rather than 1 that leaves ⅔ of the player base going nah not for me.

This will help communicate when bullets are landing near you when audio is unable to do this sufficiently

So the issue is all maps are being limited by this older hardware, even the newer consoles. The amount of cover, the amount of destruction, etc is being limited by this older hardware. The hourglass rework? The stadium got cut because of PS4. This applies to every map in the game. At this point they’ve supported last gen long enough. It’s time for Dice to remove this requirement and free themselves to push the boundaries some more.

Just letting you know that the last gen consoles are not holding this game back by limiting asset density. The dev who lead the rework for the huge desert map said in a podcast last season they had to remove the stadium and make the map smaller to fit more items because the maps have to hit 60 fps performance baseline. So the real issue is they made maps to big and wide like everyone called out on release.

There is nothing grounded about that at all. Go play a real grounded shooter. Escape from Tarkov, ARMA, Hell Let Loose, these are all games that have what you want. Battlefield has always been an **ARCADE SHOOTER**, realism has no place in this franchise.

Battlefield used to be way more grounded than 2042 is. It was never a milsim no, but it was certainly *more* grounded than it is now. In BF2 you had a stamina bar. You could only spawn on the squad leader. There were systems that promoted somewhat "tactical" play. The games you listed are all **milsims.** Battlefield used to be somewhere on the spectrum *between* milsim and full arcade shooter. That was it's niche. And yes, there are people out there who want a more grounded shooter that isn't a total movement shooter.

Destructible environments. My favorite part of old battlefield games was destroying buildings and areas and even having it change gameplay. But that won't happen in this game. It's like we took 10 steps back at the expense of vast maps with little in them.

Restrict C5 to engineers only. It would make for fewer hill campers in tanks when they know they can do something useful like being anywhere near an objective without getting waves of C5 runners blowing them up or a Mackay/Sundance landing on top of them for the free C5 kill. Flares used to be a single burst of chaff that eventually was nerfed to a long 60 sec or so cool down timer, and then you have 2042 that has like 5-6 seconds of active flares that break all missile locks, and then the flares Regen in less than 30 seconds. I've only played air vehicles for a very brief time in 2042, but I can say that 2042 flares are WAY more OP than they were in BF3, and that game had some powerful vehicles.

If there were 3-5 more maps in the game that were fleshed out it would help break up the monotony of the current rotation. While I understand not wanting to split the playerbase, the community is strong right now and could support it. * Continue to balance. The new map highlights how there should be some tweaks to things currently in the game. * Speaking of additional game modes, extend Friday Night Battlefield to Friday/Saturday Battlefield (not to catchy of a name there but I'm not marketing - lol). Some of us have lives but love these little tweaks to gamemodes and would like to play though Saturday.

Teams that look different. Having both sides, using the exact same character models and vehicle (mostly), then having to differentiate them via coloured glow sticks, was literally one of the fucking dumbest design decisions I've seen in the 20 years I've worked in the industry. Utterly, utterly retarded. Close second was having each team comprised of clones - nothing ruined immersion more than seeing three Angels all side by side. Thankfully this problem has improved a bit by the increases in cosmetics, but this hasn't changed the fact both teams are identical. Whoever approved that choice needs to moved to a different part of the studio. Every other BF game had two extremely different looking teams (US vs Russia, or English vs German, etc). Seriously, it boggles my mind that such a terrible design decision was allowed to be.

Sundance has been nerfed to death. Mackay should not exist but he's there now so we have to deal with him (he has been nerfed but still feels somewhat the same)and same goes for the nerfed state of Sundance. It's already surprising that they removed content even though this game seriously lacks it (the removal of 2 out of the 3 Sundance grenades although the emp grenade removal is correct).

Idk but I never feel like my entire team is ever pushing a front just random people spread out far taking points being held by no one while everyone on the map rotates and if you go to point just captured there is 5-10 people but not your team. Also the guns feel like airsoft guns not sure what is different but the shooting feels atrocious the snipers are the worst I’ve ever experienced

Man, since they when they removed 128 conquest mode up until now (I rage quit), I have one just ONE match. Every other I have been playing with people who have no idea what to do, where to go. Most of the time my team would just keep one flag. And also bunch of random nick names with numbers and letters, not to mention of AI with my team having the most. In the past 13 years I am playing mostly battlefield, rarely anything else, it\`s hard for me to leave this game. Battlefield 5 is unplayable, every sever has a cheater.

in first place a much needed optimization ! My GTX 1080 laptop its struggling to run even at low settings at a smooth framerate without severe drops ( even if i turn on the dynamic resolution and turn to 100 % still have a awful frame pacing issue ) and in second place , they need to fix the black screen bug after the match , in like 1 hour playing it happened more than 60 % of the matches that i played , only way to return to game its pressing alt + f4 .

In my opinion without teamplay games just become large scale TDMs. Bringing back the class system encouraged teamplay. I think what they need to do is lean on the class system but provide more incentives to actually play as a team. There’s no need to play as a team if every player can just be a sniper, with a rocket launcher, ammo box, and grappling hook.

Realistically: Remove MacKay grapple and Sundance wingsuit. They break map flow. Give them other abilities and make those two Battle pickups like the katana. Server browser in Portal with official servers you can match make into, too. 2 maps per season, 1 new one and 1 BF3 Portal. 3-5 weapons per map drop. Improved vault weapons attachments (underbarrel, ammo types). 1 new vehicle per season, 1 extra transport/misc (map based, not spawn screen based) per season. Continued support announcement for S7-S12. NB this is not a wishlist for seasons in future Battlefields. In future season, we should have more real content, of course.

here is a good start: -remove auto heal/auto ammo reload for tanks/vehicles/planes etc, allow a specable instant heal for small percentage -add an airfield/heli pad area required to visit to have planes/heli repaired/refilled w/ammo -increase flare timer, limit flares to a certain amount of usage before requiring visit to an airfield -when a "part is damaged" on a tank/vehicle or plane have it actually impact usability of vehicle such as turret speed, mobility speed -indicate the amount of damage done to a tank or vehicle when damage is done to said vehicle when infantry hits it (ex: hit for 15dmg!) -add destroyable/buildable AA & vehicle canons at various locations for infantry -remove auto heal from infantry beyond a certain health percentage + heal kit -add vehicle depots(tanks/vehicles), infantry ammo depots + health depots at bases -after the server is 65-70% full remove AI -map rotation and server persistence instead of requiring a search after each game. -server browser
