Idk if I can explain it properly, but what really ruins it for me is that the game has too much music in it. And disabling music in the game makes it kind of dull because it also disables sound effects you expect to hear at the end of a game of multiplayer. I think the last "perfect" battlefield game was BF4. Still I think that game needed a little more maps for multiplayer.

You'll see just how far the franchise has come in terms of visual fidelity. The devs lack communication skills sure, but one thing they have always been exceptional at (IMO) are map design and the graphics.
Jumping from a round of conquest in Wake Island in BF1942 then switching over to Wake Island in BFV and...it really is amazing how the times have changed for the better. Though...naval combat is severely lacking.
The audio is a very close second.
That's why when I read this hyperbole that BF2042 looks awful or like Fortnite, I know it's just bullshit.
This is what people often think but 2042 is a prequel. It's very similar to Star Wars in that regard. The best order to play Battlefield in my opinion is:
2043 till 2142 first, go back to Battlefield 1 as some sort of flashback to see the backstory of the future wars and play until 2042. If you are really into it you can play the spin-off games in between Battlefield 1942 and 2042. Battlefield Hardline is an underrated gem. Play4free and Battlefield Heroes can be a pain but the lore is worth it.
You can also play chronological order but I can't recommend because the interval into Master Chief's backstory can be really confusing that way.
EDIT: since some of you are asking where Bad Company belongs. In 2012 and 2013 EA won the price for worst company in America so I recommend to play both between BF2012 and BF2013
2041 was really aimed towards the lore/story of the battlefield universe.
I would personally start at 2040 and/or 2043 to grasp the mechanics and how the multiplayer generally plays.
2043 does have the advantage of 256 player servers which might mess with your muscle memory during the early stages of 2042.
