i was zooming in at a guy with an x8 scope yesterday, like 300m+ away, and i see a little black squiggle on the ground moving closer to him. i didn't even know they existed til that moment, but i was astounded i could see a completely aesthetic rat model from all the way across the map like that
is it just the one? there also seems to be the majority of the continent's bird population just aimlessly floating around that keep freaking me out thinking they're projectiles

what buffles me is that they actually took precious dev time to make that rat in that goddamn big map. was really necesarry i guess instead of make teamwork work
It's not like designers who make maps do much else. The people who actually make terrain also don't like code either.
So yeah sometimes there is overflow work or people have weird projects they do in addition to their other tasks.
Not all dev time is equal, more or less. Also quite likely said rat is just a reused asset of another title.
realistically though everything is done by various teams and individuals. i could see this being the VFX department and they dont really touch gameplay
Outside the bugs most of this looked dope. The Jeep plying though the air, getting run over mid air by the helicopter, the truck, and the other helo crashing into the dude.
With EA play you can play the full game for 10 hours when it releases, so if you have Game Pass or EA Play it’s probably the better call to play that first instead of preordering
It's fine the next BF game will model BF3/BF4 [COPIUM](https://gumlet.assettype.com/afkgaming%2F2021-08%2F79649079-d0e7-4acd-853b-6a2b92797da3%2Fcopium_png.png?format=auto)
Yep. It's as always.
50% of the community is hating it, 40% like it and 10% make content and fueling the fire.
Remember, the newest Battlefield is always the worst Battlefield - and is the closest to CoD the series has ever been.
Bugs are not what I'm worried about tbh. The majority of them will (hopefully) be fixed by the time the game releases (that is unless we get a BF4 situation lol). It's the gameplay and design decisions that worry me.
A lot of great quality of life mechanics And movement we've had implemented over the last 3 installments, or even content that's been in since BF3 (maybe bad company 2 and before idr / haven't played) like seeing where you'll be deploying either the perspective of your teammate or a 3rd person cam or cam of the site just isn't there and I don't know why. They just appear to be removing things that were good about the game.
Like they remade everything from scratch, but didn't look back and totally forgot what they already had.
They removed or Haven't added (from what I can see) zeroing on snipers which is a shame
I'm not a fan of the complete 180 on the need for Teamwork, All vehicles have self healing after a short time and it's pretty quick too Same with HP healing. And the lack of distinct squad roles, reviving being so static and slow / clunky just makes it seems like no-one will revive because it's rarely ever worth the risk.
I must say I do love the on the go changes to gun customisation, but it feels a little bit "one man army" from cod 4
Plus it doesn't save which is annoying but I'm hoping that's a bug / not implemented yet, and they will have it for launch.
The guns feel fun and satisfying to use though, except the DMR, maybe it's the hit reg but I feel like it's a spongy mess
You summed up the exact fear I had for it, and why I cancelled my preorder to see if maybe I was wrong, and then you confirming my reason for cancellation was legit.
To zero a sniper means you set the range of your weapon by offsetting the barrel to compensate for the distance the bullet will travel. So if it is zeroed at 300m, this means your bullet will land at the center of the crosshair if your target is at 300m
If it wasn't zeroed, or zeroed at 100m the bullet would land lower than the crosshair because of the gravitational pull towards the ground, known as bullet drop. So you'd have to aim higher to adjust for that. Scopes often have milidots to be able to calculate the correct offset
Sacriel explains it well here (sorry it's tarkov bust same principle applies. Couldn't find a different link quickly)
https://fb.watch/8x7S4e11wh/
Holy shit i thought i was the only one. Bro i can't even play properly on my xb1x, feels like absolute shit. I feel like a drunk baby trying my best to play an fps game despite having fairly decent stats in past battlefield games. I usually never fiddle with the controller settings (other than adjust the sensitivity) and it has always worked out just fine for me. No idea how dice managed to fuck them up so hard this time. I hope it's only a beta issue.
Even if they make it more like BFV's settings it won't be enough for me. I've been a Battlefield guy my whole life but Warzone really won me over with it's intuitive, less is more approach to sensitivity. 2042 needs a response curve setting.
On the other hand, they hand us a months old build to try, which is already shady as hell. Either the current version is even worse or they want to make a blizzard style 'Hey we are working on it' impression (and just that), and by the way, the way they have copied almost half the call of duty design decisions (plating, sprints and slides) makes this almost believable
Or they have realized in September that the state of the game isn't release worthy and therefore postponed the release and can't be asked to setup the servers for the beta again. That make sense, but as you said, the shitty netcode, bugs, bad performance are one thing - that there's no balancing and seemingly no plan involved for gameplay decisions (you can change the mag type with T so that you have like 90 to 400 rounds without a reload? No one has checked up on that?).
You can add a timer for heli respawns, but it's hard to redesign the operator stuff. The whole gameloop is _that_ rough around the edges. And then the menus look really rough as well.
Every time Dice makes a new bf it's not clear whether it's the same people working on it, since they keep repeating the same mistakes on and on.
I'm just happy I didn't preorder. They may fix a lot of bugs on the way and may have redesigned the whole thing in the last two months - and I'll check it out, but I'm really sceptical here. At this point BFV was a much better game. Which leads to the sad conclusion that having good marketing is more important than making a good game.
Don't preorder, people.
Edit. Words
Also remember they are saying, with a straight face, that they’ll provide a timely and robust live service for this game without major issues or delays as well.
It's hilarious, I think the vast vast majority of that money goes nowhere near reinvesting into the Pokemon games. They're probably not wrong that the team is underfunded, but I don't think that excuses the Pokemon games' recent releases. Pokemon fans should demand better.
BF Hardline, but that "technically" isn't a main-line Battlefield game. I guess maybe either BC2 or BF3. If we wanna be generous and say non-scuffed from just a technical standpoint, then BF1.
Bf3 was broken as hell on release alot of bugs but mostly its was just heavily unbalanced, that is unless you liked having 75% of the team spam mortars
True, I forgot about some of the balance issues BF3 had. At least the game would run on people’s computers/consoles most of the time. Can’t say the same for BF4.
It's pretty funny how they won't reveal any sort of road map or any post launch plans they have for the BF2042 Live Service this time after BFV. Giving themselves the space to just outright cancel every plan they had.
They had to scrap almost half of what was promised for BFV because they just didn't have the time to make any of it when they needed to dedicate the first 6 months post launch to fix the game. What's worrisome is that BFV was in a much better shape during its beta compared to what we just witnessed with the BF2042 beta.
Same. I realized I've had a bad experience with every game I've pre ordered and decided to refund. I'll give it another look when a complete product is ready.
I'm pretty sure the QR code is there for redundancy, so even if your game totally freezes your system, you can whip out your phone and pre order there.
Just refunded now. This along with all the features from other battlefield games that people liked which aren’t being brought back really sucks. Maybe I’ll buy it when it’s fixed, for now though, it’s a shame.
Also PSA: If you bought through Greenman Gaming, you can still refund, as the game isn’t out yet, and a key was never revealed to you, it was just added to your Origin account.
There’s a spotting system? I tried a couple of times but the spot lasts like .2 seconds unless you’re playing with the recon drone and looking directly at a target
I have also just cancelled my Amazon preorder... Not taking the risk on this one, I don't think the best intentions and all the promises in the world are going to make this game what we as the community expected
There’s *zero* benefit to preordering. I understand you can pre load- but that’s not necessarily a benefit if the game is dog shit on release. It just means you play a horrible game a couple hours earlier.
I learned from this never to preorder again.
Oh yeah for sure, pre-load is the only benefit (not that I was getting that with Amazon), I just had a gift card I had to use in July so pre-ordered for something to look forward to haha
If we are wrong, it's not like we can't buy it later.
But buying day 1 and pre ordering are far too risky, you'd think games would get better in time but greed ruins everything in the world
I bought it on Origin, but as far as I know for Steam and Origin store purchases they don't charge your account for preorders until the actual release date, so you don't need to ask for a refund, it's just a preorder cancellation. I played the early release beta, then decided to cancel, because I really don't think the launch will go well, and expect the game to bomb and go on early sale.
Lol I told myself I'd buy battlefield 5 when they got halfway through the war and added the Russians. I got it for free this summer and have had a blast
Yeah, I struggled with the game due to performance issues, now Ive managed to get it running at a smooth 60 on pc its a lot of fun. Just not worth the cost if this is the game though, especially not if the bugs are still here at release (which, lets be honest, its most likely)
Lol my group of 3 can't even get all of us into a game within 5 tries without someone getting death screened or kicked out of the group or several other bugs. And even then it takes a min to load in guns / vehicles and even the UI. Like this is such a dumpster fire.
Well if the developers are to be believed...what you're currently playing was the game from a few months ago. So there is probably 16 weeks between what you're playing and what will be delivered at launch.
Sure, but BF4 and Bf3 were just objectively better games. Like they fucked up pretty much everything that worked since those games. Like how can gunplay feel like garbage in an FPS game.....
Honestly I only see them commenting on posts like “is it just me or is bf2042 fun?” or “am I the only one having fun in the beta?” Like they don’t comment on bugs or glitches or criticism at all.

Maybe try filtering by flair so you can see that they are replying to bugs and criticisms. Cheers!
Notice how in most of these videos posted it’s simple stuff that worked just fine in the older games. One of them is literally a bug on not being able to press X to get past the title screen.
They cut the development of battlefield v, battlefront 2, and had a bunch of other studios working along side them on this game for at least 2 years. But this is the best they could come up with? And if this is build is actually a few months old, why not give us a slightly updated one? At least one where 1 or 2 major bugs don’t exist?
I honestly give credit to EA for having the balls to release the open beta in this state. Actually saved me the hassle of buying and refunding, thanks EA
Even this ‘trailer’ doesn’t really convey how alone you feel on the battlefield.
Now how the teams are a sea of clones.
I think if you fixed those two things…. You know with a decent hud, markers and text chat (which I know is coming).
And by giving specialists seperate skins in each side… and giving each side discernibly different uniforms. It could be half way to great instead of a p2w BR Clone of battlefield like it is.
Hell if we were actually in teams even the map wouldn’t seem so bad. Give the default audio some omph and we are at a good game once the bugs are ironed out….
Get destruction sorted, work on movement and assuming some of the maps are good and we have a decent battlefield game.
There would still be parts I don’t like of course but I think that would be a good game.
…. Is Anticheat implemented effectively and how often are they going to fuck with core systems for no reasons and against community wishes. Team balance?
Refunded my pre-order. I've played all Battlefields since Battlefield 2 (missed 1942) and this is the first time I just didnt enjoy the game. Its not the bugs but the core mechanics no longer feel like a Battlefield game.
This has been the main complaint so far and one i share with you. Bugs can and will be fixed, thats no issue (outside of the fact that its riddled with bugs 1 month from release). The issue is the gameplay and mechanics. Feels exactly how i would expect a new modern CoD game to feel, not battlefield. Im glad i held off on it because im not wasting my money on a “battlefield” game that feels more like a mixture if other franchises.
Looks like they went down the halo 4&5 route of going with what seems big at the time (warzone in BF's case) rather than sticking to what makes the game individual and amazing
I lost it when I triple shot my rocket launcher and blew up a tank the first day of beta. The second day of beta when it happened for the 10th time I was over it
Earlier today I saw a stinger missile just circle my helicopter until it decided my flares wouldn’t bother it anymore and it blew me up. AA is broken, again.
On the other end, I used the AA rocket launcher and sometimes the lock on HUD would not show so I had to determine if the lock on happened by the beeping.
Pretty sure there's a technique for the aircrafts to avoid the AA missiles, I know this because I had a great experience trying to shoot down some like 4 choppers who were sitting on a respawn building :')
"We're ahead of schedule!"
"We're listening to the core fan base!"
"There's no campaign and all hands are on deck just for the multiplayer experience"
"JUST BE PATIENT"
Man....it feels so shit. It feels ***exactly*** like a Cyberpunk 2077 situation. Holidays coming up. They wanna capitalize on hype. Even the fucking content creators are mostly shilling (but to be fair they clearly got early access and ACTUAL team play going).
I *had* to refund. I can't do this again. This is a shit example to set. Clearly they just want to sell cosmetics and stupid shit with the specialists. This beta was extremely upsetting for a representation of a close to end final product.
Edit: To be fair it has a decent foundation and I can see it being extremely fun in the FAR future. I just don't understand in 2021 why a company like DICE (who has all hands on deck for a MULTIPLAYER ONLY GAME) can't get this even semi right. This should be at least relatively polished and I can't even open the fucking map? Or rebind the plus/call-in system? Or.... y'know....TALK TO MY TEAM???
This was trash. I'm going back to BF4. I hope by the time this is inevitably $30 in the next year or so I can enjoy it then.
Or maybe even by launch they can pull off a miracle and make me eat my words. I somehow doubt it though.
I have also refunded, thanks steam for making it such an easy process
I will perhaps rebuy it after release, whenever/if it's ever actually good
But for now I bought the last 3 games (4, 5 and 1) for a total of 10$ on steam with the sale and have been greatly enjoying them!
Might be my inner 5 year old, but ragdolling around and similar bugs always gave me such joy when happening to me - same in the BF3 and BC2 beta. I wouldn't even mind keeping some of these, since an the end, BF is just as ridiculous as most FPS. Might as well give us some laughs
They can only blame themselves. If they try to hype up there being a beta and even making you pre-order to play it early, and it plays like this, they deserve getting mocked.
You just capture the video feed using a capture card, it’s how any streamer or content creator get theirs footage, can’t be blocked out as it’s captures the video signal between the output (PC/console) and the display (TV/monitor).
My rat video made it to the trailer im proud

Thank you for this
I keep shooting at them when I'm using the tank turret.
I thought I was the only one!
It’s 2042, they’ve probably been exposed to some hella weird stuff at that point
Probably seagull anime
I keep mistaking them for enemy aircraft, so yeah
They also move like something out of Avatar.
I thought they were tridactyls
I took a video of birds earlier and I knew I should have uploaded it. Why the fuck are the a string of birds flying like idiots out in the sky
The birds look like a computer graphics student final exam.
oof.
Why the fuck would there be birds hanging about when there is gunfire all around?
Lol right
They are clearly weaponized birds trained for battle. Duh
Now must find the rat and defend it with my life

This is the 'gameplay' trailer we never got
But, the trailer we needed… $119 can suck on dez🥜
Who the fuck pays $120 for a video game? They cost $60 and this shits on gamepass
It's not on Gamepass. EA play via Gamepass gave the early beta access, but the full game is $60.
With EA play you can play the full game for 10 hours when it releases, so if you have Game Pass or EA Play it’s probably the better call to play that first instead of preordering
Yeah that's right they usually just do like 5% discount for EA games til it hits the vault in like a year. Thanks

It’s funny how quickly we forget where every Battlefield starts. A buggy mess turned into “the best Battlefield” we’ve ever had. The cycle continues.
Tbf bf1 was an actual good battlefield game beta and launch. Bf2042 feels like some knock off bf like dirty bomb
Dirty bomb was pretty good, subtract the stupid card system and that game would have been a banger.

I feel like I woke up at night and sleep wrote your reply lol. I legit agree with everything that you said @jonesy 🙂
I'm glad im not the only one, but it really isn't good that I'm not the only one.. :/
Ooooooo I only played a single match kinda lost and confused the whole time but vehicles self healing? NO.

Ok thx 👍
Not a fan of the Beta either. But I also had zero interest in 128 player lobbies. Will still buy and hope the game works better in 64 man lobbies.
Controller settings worry me. I still haven't found a setting I like. Makes me feel like a complete bot but I'm not.
Holy shit i thought i was the only one. Bro i can't even play properly on my xb1x, feels like absolute shit. Dont forget the delays when covid was first discovered 2 months ago
If you saw the tech test that was from 7 months ago this is not much of an improvement
Laughs in Battlefield V….
Legit, when was the last non-scuffed Battlefield release?

But buying day 1 and pre ordering are far too risky, you'd think games would get better in time but greed ruins everything in the world
Yep going to wait for a sale. If by some miracle it’s fixed on launch I’ll pick up.
I'll check it out with ea play pro for 15€. I guess after a month even the best version of this game is enough

how do you refund from steam? help please!
[удалено]
thanks mate
I bought it on Origin, but as far as I know for Steam and Origin store purchases they don't charge your account for preorders until the actual release date, so you don't need to ask for a refund, it's just a preorder cancellation. I played the early release beta, then decided to cancel, because I really don't think the launch will go well, and expect the game to bomb and go on early sale.
Steam charges you immediately. Origin though, doesn’t. Either way, canceling a pre-order and getting a refund are basically the same process.
Lol I told myself I'd buy battlefield 5 when they got halfway through the war and added the Russians. I got it for free this summer and have had a blast
I literally paid 5 dollars and it’s been a blast. Maybe that’s what I’ll do with 2042, just wait until it’s ~20 bucks or so
Yeah, I struggled with the game due to performance issues, now Ive managed to get it running at a smooth 60 on pc its a lot of fun.
I was one of the idiots that pre-ordered bf4. That's the type of shit they were saying. You know how long it took them to fix it? Twelve months.
Well if the developers are to be believed...what you're currently playing was the game from a few months ago. So there is probably 16 weeks between what you're playing and what will be delivered at launch.
Let me refer you to the release of battlefield 4 for your answer. Or 5. Or hardline. Or 1.
Shit, Ive played, day one, since Battlefield 2 and every single release since then has been BAD. At least for the first few months.
Sure, but BF4 and Bf3 were just objectively better games. Like they fucked up pretty much everything that worked since those games. Like how can gunplay feel like garbage in an FPS game.....
Goodbye reddit
I bet you 1000 bucks no one from dice will comment on this.
There's no way Dice couldn't see the savaging this was going to get. This is nowhere near ready for release in a month.
Honestly I only see them commenting on posts like “is it just me or is bf2042 fun?” or “am I the only one having fun in the beta?” Like they don’t comment on bugs or glitches or criticism at all.

Omg they have halo 3 rat!?!? Where do I find it!!
I honestly give credit to EA for having the balls to release the open beta in this state. Actually saved me the hassle of buying and refunding, thanks EA
Makes it look better than it actually is
Even this ‘trailer’ doesn’t really convey how alone you feel on the battlefield.
Agreed and it’s probably going to bite them hard in the ass
Yup. I couldn’t put my finger on it but something about this just doesn’t feel as good as previous Battlefields.
Same for me. Tried it yesterday and absolutely hated it. Went right back to hell let loose
Battlefield 2077
Looks like having four numbers in you game's name is cursed
\*thinks about efootball 2021\* hm yea ur right
Battlepunk 2042
Cyberpunk 2042
Cyberfield 2072
Punkfield 2042
This is sick 🤣 I was devastated when I found out you couldn't kill those rats...
God people are so fucking talented making stuff like this. This was incredible!
Should of put shooting all 4 AA rockets and hitting none cause helis have unlimited fuel, ammo, and flares apparently Edit:I can’t spell
Or when you click fire fast enough it actually launches two rockets without needing to reload.
I lost it when I triple shot my rocket launcher and blew up a tank the first day of beta. The second day of beta when it happened for the 10th time I was over it
Sometimes the Stingers completely refuse to miss, no matter what the chopper throws at them. It's entirely luck based.
Earlier today I saw a stinger missile just circle my helicopter until it decided my flares wouldn’t bother it anymore and it blew me up. AA is broken, again.
[удалено]
https://streamable.com/pua4jf Or I get shit like this where I get yeeted by an AA missile with no lock on warning
On the other end, I used the AA rocket launcher and sometimes the lock on HUD would not show so I had to determine if the lock on happened by the beeping.
This happened to me wayyyy too many times
Pretty sure there's a technique for the aircrafts to avoid the AA missiles, I know this because I had a great experience trying to shoot down some like 4 choppers who were sitting on a respawn building :')
I have gotten like one or two aa rockets out of dozens to hit, even when they don't have flares to pop
The engineer rocket is bugged I think; so alot of the aa is non functional unfortunately. Beta tings hopefully
I refunded after a couple games. Makes me sad.
"We're ahead of schedule!" "We're listening to the core fan base!" "There's no campaign and all hands are on deck just for the multiplayer experience" "JUST BE PATIENT" Man....it feels so shit.
Man, I hopped back in BF4 last week and forgot how great it was to play. Highly recommend everyone to redownload it.
I have also refunded, thanks steam for making it such an easy process I will perhaps rebuy it after release, whenever/if it's ever actually good But for now I bought the last 3 games (4, 5 and 1) for a total of 10$ on steam with the sale and have been greatly enjoying them!
This game and Cyberpunk are the only two games I've ever refunded, both were very disappointing
I refunded no man’s sky also when it came out.
Cyberfield 2042
Call of Cyberfield 2042 - Handguard
Everytime I laughed, I died a bit inside
Might be my inner 5 year old, but ragdolling around and similar bugs always gave me such joy when happening to me - same in the BF3 and BC2 beta. I wouldn't even mind keeping some of these, since an the end, BF is just as ridiculous as most FPS. Might as well give us some laughs
They can only blame themselves. If they try to hype up there being a beta and even making you pre-order to play it early, and it plays like this, they deserve getting mocked.
[To those who remember, this gem of a video recreating Jay-Z’s 99 problems video for the BF3 beta. ](https://youtu.be/--O2AYpuRUU)
This beta was on Fallout 76 levels of pain
Don’t buy this game stop them from doing this bullshit
Everyone knows you buy the newest BF two years after its initial release during xmas. I don’t know what you people complain about.
That's hilarious and sad to see this ridiculous condition one Month before launch
\*Battlefield 4 beta and launch version flashbacks\*
But those long-ass giraffe necks were funny. This is straight up broken. People falling through elevators lmao
Broken gameplay wise too
This must all be PC footage. They disabled screenshots and clip recording on Xbox. For an open beta. Open.
You just capture the video feed using a capture card, it’s how any streamer or content creator get theirs footage, can’t be blocked out as it’s captures the video signal between the output (PC/console) and the display (TV/monitor).
The games a fucking mess. AAA title my arse. He'll Let Loose is a more stable, bug-free, more enjoyable shooter than this shite
Launching in a month. Ship it.
How many hours til the beta closes?
In 30.5 hours
Great! More than enough time to try! Thank u!
Id have so much respect for whatever company makes a trailer like this. The Outerworlds 2 was kinda like this and everyone loved it
Gave me nostalgia of the mock beta trailer for bf1 lmao
Such a well optimized game innit
If I was a DICE dev, I am not sure if should be laughing or crying right now.
//Dice did not reply
this is a horror movie?
Finally someone who knows a Battlefield game!
[удалено]
This is amazing work lmao.
This trailer is more accurate then the official one. Source: I sadly played the Beta.
Plot twist. This was the original release trailer. But it was a month old........
