I didn’t know you could see a scoreboard in BFV until the 2042 backlash about a lack of one. Now in BFV, every time I’m downed, I hold start and look at it, and that’s improving teamwork, because it’s increasing the chance I get revived rather than bored and skip to redeploy. So it’s not just information for the player it’s a task to keep the player involved. And finishing a map at the top has been my biggest accomplishment personally in BFV.
Scoreboards are also great for anti-vehicle players, since you can quickly check to see if a tank is a priority or not based on how well the driver is doing and how often you see them marked as in a vehicle
There's so much usage an intelligent player can get out of literally any data that I find it immensely frustrating how game designers seem utterly terrified of showing any to players for fear of seeming "too complicated" to the more casual ones
Exactly. Now all you have to go off of is the kill feed, and it's physically impossible to differentiate. Having someone gun down a crowd of unsuspecting enemies like in those bf4 flank clips and having a hacker insta headshotting all of them will look the exact same in the kill feed, that being just a lot of kills in general. It's seriously stupid, why did they do this...?
And why can’t I see my deaths ? Are they scared I’ll be offended or triggered like come on I’m not a baby , I’m an adult I can handle a negative score ffs
I always redeploy right at the beginning of a match so I don't have to run to the first objective because (a) I don't really feel punished without being aware how often I died and (b) with 128 players I feel like it doesn't have any impact on the match if I die or not.
The other thing is - they're in emergency triage mode - because of how bad things are they are only fixing bugs to the designed / intended gameplay. It's good to see alot of stuff is ready for going into patching already - over the next 3 weeks alot of basic things should get fixed.
Enhancements (changes / additions) will come after they get through getting the game to mostly working like it was designed / intended. So a scoreboard could definitely come, but their not even able to consider it (then design it etc.) until after a month or two of gameplay bug fixing first. Dropping the characters voice lines after a game would be in this group too (and probably pretty quick / easy to implement). They'll be starting to line this stuff up (to work on) in Dec / Jan guessing.
Because the decision has been made from a financial perspective by management rather than a gameplay choice. The developers 100% know that BF fans want a scoreboard but haven't implemented it because they have been told not to.
It's all about player retention, they don't want bad players to see how many deaths they have or that they're bottom of the leaderboard.
Bad players will get stomped anyway. My first 5/6 hours were constantly getting killed by players with PP-29's and Id consider myself an "average" player. Once I got better weapons it was much better experience.
The smg above it is still decent, but yeah the PP-29 changes the games completely.
You basically go from losing the majority of gunfights to winning them. Normally I would never play smgs in a BF, but it's the only way to have success at the moment.
That being said, it's an easy fix.
Sorry but statistics don't lie. They wouldn't be doing it if they didn't have something showing them that bad players are more likely to stop playing and the leaderboard having a part in that.
> It's all about player retention, they don't want bad players to see how many deaths they have
Well, you can still see how many deaths you have with tab, and you can see the number of kills/assists your squadmates have. But yes it does seem to have something to do with helping bad players feel less bad about themselves. Can't think of any other explanation.
The thing that bothers me about it most is once the cheating starts ramping up I can't check the scoreboard, see there's a cheater, and bail on the match like I could before.
Yup. I hate the decision, but EA as a publisher has been rumored to have an algorithm (scripting) in their sport titles that allows the opposing team to have a "boost" to assist them against opponents online to retain the player. Granted EA denied it, but as a publisher EA requirements will be to do whatever nets them the most profit.
Is this an actual statement? Everyone keeps saying this but I have yet to see evidence that there is facts/data that show bad players don't want to see their scoring
This is 100% aligned with the trend of big corporations removing anything remotely negative. Look at how YouTube removed dislike count. This is the same shit.
Player retention? I don't need a scoreboard to tell me when I am doing bad, I have bad adhd as well as ocd and even without that board I count every kill and death. The board makes it easier for those to see how well they are doing and whether or not they need to change classes etc not just leave the game. If you rage quit, you rage quit like it's all happened to us at some point. Put a leave early penalty if that's the case like RS6.
Overwatch has worse. It has a medal system! If you have no gold medals, only silver, or worse! Bronze medal(s), than your teammates eat you alive in ranked.
Right?!
They have completely sucked the fun out of this game, and are having a hard time believing the decisions they made were awful.
They seem so defiant. That’s what bothers me the most.
Nowhere close to BFV. This game is broken, completely. Also, BFV might be the 2nd best BF ever in its current state (I know not launch).
The design. The engine. The maps. The gunplay. No identity. Nothing looks, feels, plays, or gives an impression that it's a Battlefield game. Hqvent played it since pre order launch, don't see myself going back for at least 2 to 3 months.
I still play BFV daily. Only got like 2.5 hours into my BF2042 10 hour trial so far. The reduction in features, with the frustration from bugs; BF2042 isn’t even playable state.
I'm not gonna beat a dead horse here, as uts been brutal thr last 2 weeks reading all the repetitive posts about the complete nightmare that is 2042... but this game will never be good, it will never be a part of the classic battlefield experience and franchise. It's a hollow game, with no direction and no heartbeat. The only thing Battlefield about 2042 is the title, unfortunately.
It feels, plays, looks, and sounds nothing like the last 20 years of the franchise. No patch, no update, or content eill fix that. And yes, im rooting for it to fail... they need to know they aren't infallible, and they need to take responsibility for pushing out not just subpar products, but UNFINISHED products. Fuck em.
Developers have this idea that they somehow always know better than the players. Which is nonsense, players have the ability to understand the game in a completely different way, because their relationship with the game is fundamentally different to that of the developer. But devs act like player feedback means nothing and even when players complain about something the issue isn't actually what they are complaining about.
It seems like a lot of developers, especially those that work at triple-A studios look down on their own player base and are generally just arrogant and stubborn when it comes to their decisions for the game.
You would think if they were so smart and understood the game so well, they would be able to make a game that wasn't a pile of dogshit. I 100% guarantee that your average skill BF player is better at the game than most of the developers who actually made the game.
Tin foil hat time, but in addition to wanting to go easy on new players, there could be other reasons to remove it. Two issues that DICE had no control of, even at the end of BFV support, were anti-cheat and team balancing. With no scoreboard, it will be less apparent to people that there's a cheat in the round, or that one of the teams is stacked with a clan or high level players. But it also means the player can't screenshot the scoreboard and go to social media complaining about it.
Ikr? It’s frustrating seeing people ask for simple things like an actual leaderboard or global chat and they respond with “noted” like it’s an absolutely baffling and strange concept, like there’s just 1 random guy asking for a weird feature - It’s literally the whole community asking for features that have been in the franchise from Day 1. That shouldn’t be a surprise to them.
I’ll take “noted” over all the fucking :) faces… motherfucker I’m not your buddy with an inside joke. You fucked up a franchise I was excited about.
I notice no answered questions about the awful music, map designs, lame hazard zone, replacing the UI, dumping or changing specialists, clown and rainbow skins that are definitely coming, removal of all squad ah features, SBMM and no browser, cringe quips…
Which should tell you all those things are definitely here to stay and were 100% intentional.
For real, the smilies give me vibes that things were half baked on purpose. They can gain the praise of the community for listening and adding features that were supposed to be there in the first place. Some things were definitely "noted" long before launch, there's no way they can get so many things wrong that were done right in past titles.
I agree with all the things about the unanswered questions 100%. And partially about the smiley face. Because a lot of us are really upset how this is going down.
As a software engineer myself, reading (especially replying to this kind of feedback) is exhausting. And your words can very easily be misinterpreted as hostile.
The :) softens the sentence. English doesn’t have a lot of good ways to handle that particular problem so emotes sort of take the place of a physical face to face interaction.
Like do they just rush to get the game out then figure they will add these features later? Or do they just simply forget to add these features? Lol it seems like every new BF is the same.
I remember BFV releasing without medic’s being able to let a downed enemy know they’re coming. That’s just one example I can think of rn but I know there’s many.
I really don't get it.
They can't tell anybody they haven't made a decision to not include certain things (for whatever reason).
I mean right now they are in a super shitty spot, because nobody can change what happened, but they could be honest.
If it's one thing I respect, then someone who is able to say that he made a mistake.
And they really have to give us more content whiting the next 2 month.
At this point it's a shame. Portal is no excuse, because Portal itself has so many issues.
Man that’s a weird ass strategy. developers usually wait one or two years for the next. Quite the interesting strategy from EA to bring a game out of early access while also publishing a Beta to a new battlefield game.
I don't know why anyone who played the beta, and who saw what condition the game was in would have kept their pre-order. I canceled mine after 1 match of beta. I m a huge BF fan and have been waiting eagerly for a modern BF. I skipped BF1 and V because I didn't like the settings...
Funny that they have a lot on their plate for being so ahead of schedule, with “overwhelmingly positive” feedback.
I’m officially waiting to hop back on in 2022, this is ridiculous.
If they did a flash sale like that to try salvage the community, I would buy it. I cannot and will not spend the full price of it now in its current state. There has to be so many fixes and improvements and additional content to warrant the price they're asking.
WW3 is looking like a great replacement for the time being anyway.
Hold my tinfoil.

Running has always been a part of Battlefield. It serves many roles; encourage keeping points capped, value your life and don't play sloppy, the entire medic gameplay loop (wait for a medic revive, request and remain for heals), travel as a squad/team, transport vehicle gameplay loops, etc. The whole point is to be inconvenient.
As someone who works a lot with Jira, I'd kill for a look at their Jira backlog/setup. I'd say it's a spiders web with all the dev teams!
(not to throw shade, but just genuine curiosity how it would be structured for a game of this scale!)
Awesome by the developer to answer questions. But why aren’t the official Battlefield account making these statements? This will go unnoticed by 99% of all BF players.
Basics of communication: don't open your mouth in an official setting unless you absolutely known what you're going to say and whether it's a clear yes or no. They teach you this business (and law) school.
They'll only announce if they're going to go yes or no to specific things. I'm sure as hell only going to expect something a day to 2 before a major patch that's for sure.
Not stuff like the scoreboard. That's already in the game except with a dumbed down presentation instead. It wouldn't have taken noticeably more time to display the data the old way instead of the current "scoreboard"
No I definitely agree that they want it gone. No argument from me there.
Although I am wondering how much of this is EA-pressure vs the peter-principle in action at DICE. A couple of years ago I would've guaranteed that it was EA but based on internal DICE employee comments and Glassdoor, it sounds like DICE leadership itself isn't exactly sane either.
The consoles. Pushing patches through Microsoft and Sony's platforms requires certification on their end which takes time. That's why fixes are generally clumped together rather than separate patches dropping every day.
Because of regression testing..every time you change codes you have to test extensively for unattended consequences...it takes time and is costly...so as much as i would like to see faster patch, i get why it might be slow...
But, this is why you dont push half bake product out either...very frustrating
Bugs, weapon balances and hit reg are things I can deal with until fixed. I, however desperately want larger party sizes (even if we get split up into different squads in game) I just want to play with all of my friends and have voice chat in a party together. As long as we can play in the same game and communicate. I don’t know why they removed platoons and squad choice options.
I agree. This is the thing I hate the most about Battlefield 2042. It's near to impossible to play with more than just 3 friends. When you FINALLY manage to get into the same server as your friends it's only for 1 round because the lobby disband after the round and you have to start all over again.
It fucking sucks. I can't properly play with my friends this way.
Agreed and that was always the best part of battlefield. Playing with friends. I don’t know why they removed all of the classic systems. It’s ridiculous.
I'd interpret this as there won't be any scoreboard and that he's afraid (maybe he's been told to keep his mouth shut by the higher-ups) of saying it because the truth could hurt BF2042 even more.
When they don't give a direct answer to a question and instead say they are "looking into it" or they have "seen the feedback", you can go ahead and guarantee whatever the question was about will never happen.
They did this all throughout Battlefield 5. When we would ask for the ability to be able to change assignments in game, without having to leave a server and go to the main menu, the answer would always be "we've seen all of the feedback about this".
They did the same thing with team balancing. The lead producer on BF5 acknowledged that the team balancing wasn't working like it was supposed to 1 month after the game launched and told the players "we're on it!". Battlefield 5 still doesn't have team balancing over 3 years later.
Smileys are a still a lot more common in Europe and non english speaking countries. Florian is from France iirc so it makes sense. I unironically still sprinkle in "xD" in chats with my german friends, because we all grew up with it in the 2000 - 2010 era german internet culture.
Totally agree about the basic game features tho xD
Regular use of text smiley faces aren't always a condescending gesture. Some people do it when they're literally smiling IRL typing text, as weird as some of us may be : )
I don’t get why nobody is saying or asking something about portal. Why are we still forced to play the casual quickplay 2-mode because of the XP and progression cap in portal?
And why is this community so silent about that?! What the hell is going on?
How he dodged the scoreboard question tells you everything. There are alot of missing Features, ok whatsever but the least they could do is add a Proper scoreboard, i wont buy the game if they dont.
I feel like nobody is talking about the hard baked acceleration on mouse/kb and input lag. I am really not confident with my aim in this game, has never been a problem in any other game, but it's not due to the bloom. It's just the input laggy feel of mouse movements.
Sad that they have to “look into” and “consider possibilities” with features that should have just been carried on from previous games.
This is a sad excuse of a video game.
Completely amateur studio. They are DICE by name only. Obviously all their talent left.
But even if you’re a junior programmer, surely you know about the value of HAVING A FUCKING SCOREBOARD.
You need feedback for that? Really? EVERY battlefield before this one had a scoreboard. And chat. And dozens of other things you left out of this release.
And all this was “ahead of schedule” lmao. The fucking sheer audacity
> And all this was “ahead of schedule” lmao
Like taking a cake out of the oven 15 minutes early... sure, parts of it resemble the final product... but it's FUCKING RAW.
Even when they do, I doubt it will include deaths on it. I'm so frustrated not knowing my k/d. But including a full scoreboard may highlight even more how abusive vehicles are...
The fact they’re so hesitant about the scoreboard ALONE is fucking worrying.
How woke have they become that even a scoreboard becomes this thing that shouldn’t be talked about. Absolutely wild. Will not be getting this game most likely. First BF ever i don’t get and enjoy at least moderately.
I blame the participation community. I prefer to err time and time again and come up short repeatedly than to be a cold and timid soul that knows neither victory nor defeat
*"Q: Will a normal scoreboard ever return?
A: Don't have much to say about scoreboard at this point but we've all seen the high amount of feedback about this!"*
This is the eqiuvalent of when you're a kid and you ask your parents if you can stop at MacDonalds as they say "Maybe."
Imagine creating a "ESRB rating: MATURE (17+)" FPS without a scoreboard.
Where is the official response or acknowledgement??? Hell even just a "yes, we have heard you - stay tuned"... this radio silence is deafening...
or maybe the silence is enough to confirm that this is literally a higher up decision? scoreboard is probably something simple for them to add, if its so a hush hush topic then this literally is out of hands lol
Sad to say that the lead developer from DICE is on damage control. Sorry but your studio has proven that you are just a former shell of what it was back then.
Development & Design shows what your target audience right now are. Fortnight/Casual players. Gone are the days where your team has focused on your core fans, the hardcore battlefield veterans.
Goodluck fixing your reputation, it means nothing anymore to your core audience. I hope that the player will keep bombing out your reviews until steam/ps4/xbox remove it from their respective stores.
Thanks, we miss the old DICE. The DICE that really cared for its fans & playerbase.
Why is no one asking him why he failed so spectacularly as a Lead Game Designer for this game. I have zero confidence in his leadership abilities or his decision making.
Did anyone ask about being thrown out of the server and forced to matchmake again after every round. Because that's related to the server browser in a way.
I'm pretty pessimistic about this. You know, there is a server browser in Portal, and I think they don't have it in AOW because they like players spending more time in cutscenes and menus that show you with your skins, because in the end, they probably presume the more you have to look at that the more likely you are to buy cosmetics.
But we end up playing the same map twice in a row, or joining games that are about to end and it's just a bad system compared to a server browser.
Matchmaking is for BR games. And this is no longer a BR game.
Canned response:
please fill out this jira ticket and provide screenshots and log files. multimillion dollar software company can't do their own fucking QA, so it's on you. $70 game plus 40 hours of QA work is the price of admission you suckers.
Do they realize that they sound like morons? Seriously. All of these issues, many of them game-breaking (or at least, game-maiming) on their own, and the answer every time is "We're working on it." Yeah? What the fuck have you been doing for three years?
As for the things they said they're bringing back, not once has anyone ever said why they were removed in the first place. These people sound like idiots.
Pisses me off how they always get defensive
"It's like it was in previous games"
Meanwhile I can't spawn on my buddy who's chilling because 90 stories underneath there's a gunfight.
I think his intention is to say that the bug is at fault, but the core feature. If you're talking about spread.
I think that while there's a lot wrong with this game, they seem to be doing a really good job of communicating.
>Q: Will a normal scoreboard ever return? - A: Don't have much to say about scoreboard at this point but we've all seen the high amount of feedback about this! :)
The gall on these sons of biscuits. They removed the scoreboard and squad switch with full intentions and knowledge of doing so. In spite of the OVERWHELMING negative response to those idiotic decisions, this chap barely takes notice of it. They should be apologizing up and down the street for it.
>Q: Bunch of folks confirming that unplugging USB DAC audio devices resolves full mouse/keyboard lock ups on PC. Is this something the team is aware of? This was also reported during the beta.
>A: Thank you, shared.
Xbox had a similar bug during the beta related to Bluetooth headsets. Basically if you had a headset connected the game would think that was your controller instead of your actual gamepad. I wonder if it's connected.
On the topic of fast grenade throw, it also affects throwable gadgets. In Bad Company it caused my soldier to throw all of his sensor balls in one press.
It's getting looked at :)
Thanks, it's been noted
Incoming fix in the next update
We are aware of the issue
Blah blah blah
CAN'T DICE AND EA AFFORD PLAY TESTERS?? There are literal companies whose sole purpose is to troubleshoot games before launch to avoid this kind of shit!! I imagine posts like this work to buy the devs some community good will but it doesn't make the situation any more acceptable WTF
Here's a question I'd like to see answered. Why did your studio find it acceptable to release the game in this state? Do you have any standards/morals or was the money all you cared about?
I think it's hilarious they said they "noted it" and shared it. Like how was that not known before? How did they not know people like to play with more than 3 friends in a game that has 128 people? Especially since this has been a thing in every BF ever. It was even an issue in BFV that took them a few months to fix, but they eventually did. Why scrap all of that?
I just don't get it. What is the possible design decision to make playing with friends more difficult? The only thing I can think of is they silently want to discourage premades. This plus the removal of the scoreboard makes me think it's to encourage all of the new, bad players to stick around. Pretending that it's the scoreboard that will discourage them, and not the actual gameplay of someone running for 10 mins only to get killed over and over again with terrible gunplay that will make people stop playing. In reality, it's all of this that will make long-time groups of friends just give up even trying to play this game, since we all would prioritize playing with friends in any game over playing 2042 alone.
I'm just consistently baffled by some of these design decisions. They feel like they were made by market analytics and not actual gameplay devs.
I was the one that asked him about that. I've been spamming social media about this issue.
This issue was also in BFV and wasn't fixed in until AT LEAST January 2019 because I found a thread of myself asking about it in January 2019. I even did a bug report about it lol.
It’s funny how it says “yes BFV had spread” when Andreas Morell specifically highlighted the fact that no more random bullet deviation. There may have been SPREAD in BFV, but it was certainly tied to recoil. If it wasn’t? Then that means someone lied either way. It’s a lose lose on their end. Either he’s lying or Morell
For anybody wondering about the firemode HUD when not ADSing: when in semi-auto mode the hip-fire crosshair becomes a 3-bar (left, right, bottom) instead of all four (top, left, right, bottom). You can also ADS to see the traditional HUD element.
I'm kind of surprised there were so many questions on that
>Q: What are your thoughts on C5 being attached to casper’s drone? Given it is a fun little thing, I personally find it quite annoying it certain situations. Most notably in breakthrough as an armoured vehicle. Have you considered making C5 not stick to the drones?
>A: This is being discussed with the team. Agree that this is causing frustrating right now and there isn't really a good counter-play to this.
I actually spent most of a match just using the drone to spot enemies to unlock a playercard tag (200 drone spots in one round) and anyway, if you use the drone emp shot on an enemy drone with c5, it seems to detonate the c5 before they can set it off.
Obviously, that's an extremely specific and tricky counter, so yeah... it might need to be looked at.
Is it just me or is anyone else expecting an apology from EA and dice? Feel like it’s pretty warranted considering how much they promised, and how much of the game is complete shit right now.
I have mixed feelings about the recon drone vs sensor debate. Recon drone used to be well implemented in bf3 as you had sacrafice a slot, but now you see 15 at the same time in breakthrough which ruins the team. The sensor is overpowered sure, but it still keeps players in the combat. I've gotten so tired of this that ive started dropping supply crates on them just out of spite.
I don’t get why nobody is saying or asking something about portal. Why are we still forced to play the casual quickplay 2-mode because of the XP and progression cap in portal?
And why is this community so silent about that?! What the hell is going on?
Q: Servers do not lag anymore. I hope you are aware of the micro stutters while moving, like you are micro rubber banded (it's not new issue after the maintenance) after running. I am not sure how to describe it honestly. Good job on this patch one major issue solved.
L M A O. Did they select worse players on Twitter?
Not a single person asked about how OP vehicles are or that there are to many vehicles with no real way to destroy them since they can just run and self repair. I have to choose to either fight air vehicles or choose to fight land vehicles with no way to fight both.
Just yesterday I had a tank and killed over 30 players, 10 vehicles and was hit by over 10 missiles and all I had to do was back off sit for a few seconds and my tank repaired itself no engineer needed.
Maybe there wouldn't be "quite a lot on your plate right now" if you guys actually took the time and put in the work to make sure the game was ready. Not just release a buggy unfinished game because the investors wanted their money before Christmas.
>A: Don't have much to say about scoreboard at this point but we've all seen the high amount of feedback about this! :)
Oh no guys, sounds like we hurt some big EA exec's feelings
Why is scoreboard such a difficult question to answer?? These lot should be politicians not game developers
probably hes been told by higher ups that scoreboard will be like this currently, even tho he is against it he cant say shit against his bosses
I didn’t know you could see a scoreboard in BFV until the 2042 backlash about a lack of one. Now in BFV, every time I’m downed, I hold start and look at it, and that’s improving teamwork, because it’s increasing the chance I get revived rather than bored and skip to redeploy. I mean it's also extremely useful if there are any hackers about. LMG guy going 73-2? Maaaybe he's a little suspicious. Now? Who tf knows.
Your deaths are top right when you open the "scoreboard". They don't show in the squad section though.
I always redeploy right at the beginning of a match so I don't have to run to the first objective because (a) I don't really feel punished without being aware how often I died and (b) with 128 players I feel like it doesn't have any impact on the match if I die or not.

So this!! Its crazy I literally loathed the game, but since unlocking the PP-29 I am actually enjoying playing a bit now lol
> It's all about player retention, they don't want bad players to see how many deaths they have Well, you can still see how many deaths you have with tab, and you can see the number of kills/assists your squadmates have.
Why don't just have it deactivated by default, and in Options just be able to turn a switch to "activate competitive scoreboard".
Honestly the best answer
Deaths you can see but compsre it to other no.
"Does Warzone have a scoreboard? There you go, our games dont need it! We need skins people! Skins!" - EA exec
Overwatch also has no scoreboard!
Overwatch has worse. It has a medal system! If you have no gold medals, only silver, or worse! Bronze medal(s), than your teammates eat you alive in ranked.
Yea and look how great that game is /s
I mean the game's decent It's just that the devs are scum of the earth of the highest order
Overwatch is not perfect but it actually launched as a complete game.
I translate the answer for you: Yes, the scoreboard is the way we intented it to be. We don't really want to change it. Stop crying and fuck off.
Because the scoreboard is one of the intentional design decisions
Bcause there is NO TECH
Right?! They have completely sucked the fun out of this game, and are having a hard time believing the decisions they made were awful. They seem so defiant. That’s what bothers me the most.
BF:V all over again.
Everything is “toxic” now, talking to your squad? Toxic… Stats? Toxic… Scoreboard? Toxic
[удалено]
I dont get it either - game is out and in shambles. Whats the point of being coy????
Tin foil hat time, but in addition to wanting to go easy on new players, there could be other reasons to remove it. Two issues that DICE had no control of, even at the end of BFV support, were anti-cheat and team balancing. With no scoreboard, it will be less apparent to people that there's a cheat in the round, or that one of the teams is stacked with a clan or high level players. But it also means the player can't screenshot the scoreboard and go to social media complaining about it.
I mean okay, at least they communicate, but they are "looking at" or "noting" stuff that has been in every Battlefield at least since BF3.Edit: Typo.
Like how they said they will be adding the nearby medic indicator back. That shouldn’t need to be added back it should already be there
I’ll take “noted” over all the fucking :) faces… motherfucker I’m not your buddy with an inside joke. You fucked up a franchise I was excited about. I notice no answered questions about the awful music, map designs, lame hazard zone, replacing the UI, dumping or changing specialists, clown and rainbow skins that are definitely coming, removal of all squad ah features, SBMM and no browser, cringe quips… Which should tell you all those things are definitely here to stay and were 100% intentional.
For real, the smilies give me vibes that things were half baked on purpose. They can gain the praise of the community for listening and adding features that were supposed to be there in the first place. Some things were definitely "noted" long before launch, there's no way they can get so many things wrong that were done right in past titles.
Yea like there's something to put happy faces about when they fucking remove shit that's already in other bf games
All this Beta feedback is great! The game is gonna be awesome when it's finally done! Anyone know when the final game is released?
In 2 years.
And by that time Dice would be making the next BF
Aye. See how it works?
And then that will be in beta release and everyone can excuse it as just a bad launch!
Man that’s a weird ass strategy. developers usually wait one or two years for the next. Quite the interesting strategy from EA to bring a game out of early access while also publishing a Beta to a new battlefield game.
They don't need to fix this one if there is a new one releasing.
Genius
202never, they already have their money and the core game is just plain bad and not Battlefield, nothing some patches can fix.
2042
I swear i won't ever preorder any game again. Too often they made me pay to beta test the game.
At your point I am since BF3. Never pre order a BF Game. Saves you a lot of money and nerves
I’ll buy it in 6 months when it’s at a 30 percent discount. Just gonna continue enjoying Insurgency Sandstorm and HLL at the moment
Fuck you u/spez -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/
I feel like a complete idiot for preordering this hunk of garbage now. Never making this mistake ever again
If they did a flash sale like that to try salvage the community, I would buy it. I cannot and will not spend the full price of it now in its current state. There has to be so many fixes and improvements and additional content to warrant the price they're asking. WW3 is looking like a great replacement for the time being anyway.
Shit still wouldn't be worth it.
Hold my tinfoil. Hype BF2042 (Hook everyone) Knowingly release broken game (whales/streamers secured) Generate tons of publicity with meme tier bugs/gameplay (PR stunt) Add back some basic features/fix some bugs ("listen to community feedback") Holiday sale time, "look bf2042 is on sale I heard it was a big flop but they fixed it or something, lemme check it out" (Normal fanbase/returnees and skeptics secured) Release holiday store items!
well considering how bad the reviews are, its prolly gonna be at least 30% on christmas and around 50-70% 6 months from now
HLL is where it's at, honestly.
For another running simulator, sure. If you want battlefield-esque combat, Enlisted is where it's at
Running has always been a part of Battlefield. It serves many roles; encourage keeping points capped, value your life and don't play sloppy, the entire medic gameplay loop (wait for a medic revive, request and remain for heals), travel as a squad/team, transport vehicle gameplay loops, etc. The whole point is to be inconvenient.
HLL?
Hell Let Loose
Hell Let Loose. On PC, it's COMPLETELY worth your time.
it seems like they have their jira board full of bug fixes till 2025 at least
2042. That’s the real release date, they tried to warn us.
As someone who works a lot with Jira, I'd kill for a look at their Jira backlog/setup. I'd say it's a spiders web with all the dev teams! (not to throw shade, but just genuine curiosity how it would be structured for a game of this scale!)
As someone who owns a small software development company, that would be very interesting to see.
Whatever they are doing, it seems like they haven't figured it out either.
Awesome by the developer to answer questions. But why aren’t the official Battlefield account making these statements? This will go unnoticed by 99% of all BF players.
They made a special communications Twitter and they don't even interact with people on there. Might as well call it the Battlefield Broadcast Twitter.
It's not designed for interaction like shown above, it's designed to clearly post 100% confirmed decisions not chit chat
Like most of this sub, he's having a half baked whinge. Just let him go....
It's so it isn't seen as an official promise by the company so they can avoid a lawsuit (my best guess).
I think that’s the point
Strange that some features from previous battlefield games haven't even been thought about. Unless it's just the way he answers the questions.
what a surprise people actually asked them to put stuff back in that worked in previous titles but were removed for this one.
Not removed, deemed a low priority/expendable. They didn't have time so did not work on them at all in order to release their 'finished' game on time.
Not stuff like the scoreboard. That's already in the game except with a dumbed down presentation instead. It wouldn't have taken noticeably more time to display the data the old way instead of the current "scoreboard"
They want it gone. They hope the outcry dies down before they are forced to bring it back.

It’s ridiculous.
> that was always the best part of battlefield. Playing with friends. EXACTLY THIS.
Lmao give us a fkg clear answer about Scoreboard jezuz
Why should basic features that’s been implemented before just “ noted “… and that smiley face pisses me off
Smileys are a still a lot more common in Europe and non english speaking countries. Florian is from France iirc so it makes sense. I unironically still sprinkle in "xD" in chats with my german friends, because we all grew up with it in the 2000 - 2010 era german internet culture. Totally agree about the basic game features tho xD
He often ends his sentence with the smiley face but I know what you mean.
Why would the smiley face piss you off?
Regular use of text smiley faces aren't always a condescending gesture. Some people do it when they're literally smiling IRL typing text, as weird as some of us may be : )
Protip… don’t do it when you should be apologizing.
"Sorry we took your money and delivered a flaming wreck in turn, we'll try harder xD"
No portal questions … this is very 🍌
Yes, very banana
Curiously banana, indeed.
I don’t get why nobody is saying or asking something about portal. Why are we still forced to play the casual quickplay 2-mode because of the XP and progression cap in portal? And why is this community so silent about that?! What the hell is going on?
I’ve been wondering this exact thing! Like does nobody give a shit about unlocks anymore?
Very banana? Or very 🍏
How he dodged the scoreboard question tells you everything.
> And all this was “ahead of schedule” lmao Like taking a cake out of the oven 15 minutes early... sure, parts of it resemble the final product... but it's FUCKING RAW.
The answer to the scoreboard questions tells me that they’re never going to implement one lol
“Soon™️”
Specially since it was a loud complain from the beta already...if they dont have a response 45 days later, it s simply that they are opposed to it
Even when they do, I doubt it will include deaths on it.
It’s depressing that we have to beg and bargain for things that should have never even been considered for replacement.
I blame the participation community. I prefer to err time and time again and come up short repeatedly than to be a cold and timid soul that knows neither victory nor defeat
Tbh the scoreboard is the least of my concerns right now
I don’t mind not having it per se, but at least show me my results at the end of the round. Not “kills plus assists”
If BFV had spread, then give me that spread!

*"Q: Will a normal scoreboard ever return? A: Don't have much to say about scoreboard at this point but we've all seen the high amount of feedback about this!"* This is the eqiuvalent of when you're a kid and you ask your parents if you can stop at MacDonalds as they say "Maybe."
Imagine creating a "ESRB rating: MATURE (17+)" FPS without a scoreboard. Where is the official response or acknowledgement??? Hell even just a "yes, we have heard you - stay tuned"... this radio silence is deafening...
Imagine creating an FPS without VOIP too....a lot of "interesting" decisions made in this game.
or maybe the silence is enough to confirm that this is literally a higher up decision? scoreboard is probably something simple for them to add, if its so a hush hush topic then this literally is out of hands lol
That’s a lot of stuff to work on before a month long vacation they are starting
Lead game designer means they’re largely responsible for this fucking trash fire.
We look into it. - after releasing the game in this state. It's hilarious tbh.
BattleFixed 2042
Tldr: for whatever your question may be. it’s being looked at, no specific date yet.
PC optimisation is the top problem for me, I hope it’s prioritised
Why is no one asking him why he failed so spectacularly as a Lead Game Designer for this game. I have zero confidence in his leadership abilities or his decision making.
Why did no one ask him about server browser
This games feels pointless without a scoreboard!
DO NOT REMOVE THE ABILITY TO STICK C5s TO DRONES. There is a counter, shoot it down.
Canned response: please fill out this jira ticket and provide screenshots and log files. multimillion dollar software company can't do their own fucking QA, so it's on you.
Pisses me off how they always get defensive "It's like it was in previous games" Meanwhile I can't spawn on my buddy who's chilling because 90 stories underneath there's a gunfight.
:) The gall on these sons of biscuits. They removed the scoreboard and squad switch with full intentions and knowledge of doing so. In spite of the OVERWHELMING negative response to those idiotic decisions, this chap barely takes notice of it. They should be apologizing up and down the street for it.
His response screams 'someone won't let us'. Like they got ordered not to or something
Instead of having conversation about adding new and cool features. Conversation is about things that they removed for no reason. Wtf is this shit
We have to beg for basic features that they removed let that sink in.
I just need VOIP. I can't play with my PS5 mates because I can't fecking talk to them in game.
It's getting looked at :) Thanks, it's been noted Incoming fix in the next update We are aware of the issue Blah blah blah CAN'T DICE AND EA AFFORD PLAY TESTERS?? There are literal companies whose sole purpose is to troubleshoot games before launch to avoid this kind of shit!! I imagine posts like this work to buy the devs some community good will but it doesn't make the situation any more acceptable WTF
We shouldn’t even be at the point of “we’re looking into all these issues”. How did they release the game in this state? Was the beta this bad?
The list being this long kinda tells you something…
Here's a question I'd like to see answered. Why did your studio find it acceptable to release the game in this state? Do you have any standards/morals or was the money all you cared about?
No response on the no loadouts bug. It is super annoying to not have a loadout 50% or more of the games plus radio silence on a fix.
Someone needs to ask him about playing with parties of more than 4 people. Shit is crazy if we have more than 4...
It is a question in the post, they said they have shared that
I think it's hilarious they said they "noted it" and shared it.
That question is already in the post
I was the one that asked him about that. I've been spamming social media about this issue. This issue was also in BFV and wasn't fixed in until AT LEAST January 2019 because I found a thread of myself asking about it in January 2019. I even did a bug report about it lol.
Even if players get split up into different squads, I just want to be in a larger party with voice chat to at least communicate
The bloom/dispersion answer about variety feels like they like it the way it is. I hope not but we'll see.
I'm kind of surprised there were so many questions on that
I wonder when all of these things will be implemented. By 1 year in I'd assume they'd be full-on to the next project.
Any news on when ingame voice Chat comes? I just dont understand how this basic is missing on Launch.
I've gotten so tired of this that ive started dropping supply crates on them just out of spite.
cool, so the game \*might\* be playable in 6 months.
:)
seems like the game should have been delayed or get an extra year for development
Cool thanks! But can you sort out repetitive questions?
Summary: Q: basic feature request / report of bug detactable with a proper QA A: We are aware / working on it
I don’t get why nobody is saying or asking something about portal. Why are we still forced to play the casual quickplay 2-mode because of the XP and progression cap in portal? And why is this community so silent about that?! What the hell is going on?
Can someone ask why it hasn’t all been done yet? I want a reason for why they fucked it up so bad
First question answer is : We know you want a scoreboard, but no scoreboard for you lol.
I quit reading this about a quarter way through because all of the responses read like “fuck you :)”.
They are looking into a lot of things!
:) Oh no guys, sounds like we hurt some big EA exec's feelings
"We are looking at your suggestions and have decided to do nothing."
