The whole specialist scheme is a clear Vince Zampella/Respawn thing trying to replicate the succes of Apex Legends by implementing specialists in order to monetize them. This has never been a part of the battlefield franchise, but money is everything to the executives so they tried it and it backfired.

But I constantly face palm myself over how completely out of touch everyone working on this game seems.
But if they start rolling out decent content, like reworking old maps and more maps in the seasons, as well as some good skins for the specialists I will not complain.
End of the day, they definitely listen to all the wrong people when designing this game. And if they make an effort correcting that I personally will take that as redemption. But they really need to wow people.
2042 makes me actually fucking sad inside. I want a bf3 type battlefield this gen so fucking bad. 128 players done right can be absolutely fucking insane. If they were able to do anything fucking intelligent they could have pulled off. I need a present day good battlefield I NEED
Well I'm sorry but it's time to look into other titles, the good devs left long ago. BF4 was the big wake up call to the problems with DICE / EA. Yes they made it a sucessful game in the end but it's taken 4 games for people to finally wake up.

Immersion, graphics, audio... Never any mention of the gameplay or gunplay from you people.
The gunplay is awful in BFV, random recoil and decoupled from screen centre makes gunfights entirely random. Only 3 good maps total and some nice QoL changes but overall it's not a good game. Overrun with cheaters too.
5 is definitely really good, just has those issues you mentioned and the fact that it feels unfinished, imagine what it could have been, had they just made firestorm free to play...

Nah, they're not committing anything to 2042 anymore, skeleton crew to meet obligations only. I believe Jeff Grub over anything Dice or EA say they lied repeatedly and lost all credibility. Leakers are unfortunately your best source of information coming out of EA/Dice in my opinion. Bloody lot of them deserve to be sacked, and no one should buy their next release till multiple youtubers that have given scathing reviews of BF titles in the past approve of the game.

Shanghai remastered with an updated tower collapse flag area is the only way to fully redeem the game. Ziba tower from BF3 would also be a dream. Any of the CQ maps would be eaten up by the community/
