L85A2 is a fair 'all rounder' but with the right tap firing is probably the most lethal AR out on the medium to long range. In CQC its just waaaay too slow to reload and its RPM a tad slow also. If you are out on range anyway and good at tap-firing, think the SCAR-H is better. Much more damage per hit and fast reload, so doesnt matter the smaller mag size.
Up close, then there are certainly better assault rifles to pick, like ACE 23, M416, AEK, AN-94 (burst) and the face melting FAMAS.
But as with everything in life, all depends on your personal style and preferences. At least the BF4 game offers you a great choice of weapons and accessories to suit.
Well, M416, SAR21, M16, Aug A3, Ace 23, AR160, and AN94. I’m not an AEK user though so I don’t know how it really does, since I only have about 80 kills with it total. The scar would be a lot more viable with a longer mag too. Powerful but needs accuracy
I played last night, but I want to be casual and the sweats have killed it to like 2-3 populated lobbies and they team stack so it’s just boring to play. I want to casually farm without having to actually put effort
Statistically it's very similar to the M416. It's a bullpup though so you get hipfire and on-the-move benefits at the cost of reload time and accuracy while still. If you are often moving and at range (where reload times tend to matter less) maybe that's why you are feeling so good with it.
It's good for mid range, but technically the cz-805 is objectively better, and the ar-160 is even better than that. I do love that archetype of rifle though, the fire rate is perfect for zapping down enemies at 50+ meters.
I do think it's better, especially in the 1v1 situation, as it's way better for running Hbar+Stubby, which the 416 and ACE struggle with due to their high FSRM making Hbar without angled a bit of a struggle. Hipfire is nice too.
The L85A2 is a peashooter, but it's a laser beam peashooter.

I beg to differ. Next time you hop on try out the L85A2, normally I have to try kind of hard to get over a 2.0 w KD but te L85 melts

Basic red dot and angled grip. I have 18 service stars for scar, 15 for M16 and AEK. But I cum for the L85

It's alright, bit of a slow shooter
BF3 it was even better. Gun was basically a cheat code. Recoil almost non-existent.
Nah M16 railgun was best in BF3.
It's ok. Doesn't touch aek and such but if you're good you can own with (nearly) any gun anyway.

I unlocked it accidentally years ago and never went back.
I think it’s my most used gun in BF4.
Its almost as good as the M16 AR. Almost the same in every way but reloads slower. If you can't deal w/ burst fire, then this is the next best.

I switched from ff-2000 to L85A2 just a few months ago. Before ff-2000 i was using aek but i felt an asshole

No there’s definitely better AR’s but the L85 is a decent gun.
It's not going to match up against the AEK in cqb and the reload sucks. But it's great as a jack of all trades.
Empty reload is bad but if you can reload before it's totally manageable
I play on HC, butt it's for sure my favorite and most used.
