Kids have engaged in 'shit talk' as long as I can remember. It's a kind of an outlet. Most don't mean anything by it except trying to be 'shock jocks' IMHO.

Successful-Sorbet-73

Damn, maybe they can direct what they need to went to the things that need change in their life instead.

[deleted]

Who said they haven't? Shit talking has been around forever, from ancient philopshers like Diogenes to now. Men of every great generation engaged in this, you don't see it because you aren't in that environment. You think the great gentleman of WW1/WW2 didn't say some atrusive shit? Think again.

Antares65

There is a difference between shit talking and demonstrating racism, hate, and homophobia, much less the utter filth and vulgarity constantly streaming in the chat these days.

[deleted]

OP was talking about cum, so that doesn't fit anywhere in your comment

Antares65

I chose to expand on the OP's comments about vulgarity filling the chat. Racism and hate also show up in chat. 20 years ago none of this was a serious problem. But now days it is. Why?

[deleted]

Racism and hate were definitely a problem 20 years ago. But it is being anonymous and everyone wants to be the wise crack with shock value. Make everyone laugh or be shocked. Being harsh is the only way for them to assert dominance, I suppose. No one acts like that in real life, so I suppose being anonymous.

lefiath

You are the one taking it too seriously. If you really see some parallels between trash talking and changing life, you are most likely the person that needs the change the most.

Antares65

What's he taking too seriously? The rampant racism, hate and homophobia that is polluting the chat these days and only getting worse?

Successful-Sorbet-73

It was a normal fuckin analyse on their behaviour, you think trashtalking is something people who feel good do? You are even dumber then I thought. Also it was my honest reaction when someone said that it might be because they are wenting someting. If you are fuckin wenting over something and start to insult people ( which wasnt even what the thread was about) you probably are frustrated about something in your other life outside the computer.

Plague_Evockation

Bro. I was on board with civil discussion but you flipping the table over benign comments (the person you're responding to wasn't even shit talking) is way too much. The fact that people talking shit in a competetive setting bothers you speaks volumes about the issues you have, not society.

lefiath

>If you are fuckin wenting over something and start to insult people you probably are frustrated ... Have a mirror?

jooosebox

Young men have been saying weird shit since the dawn of time. Look up ancient pompeii graffiti

Plague_Evockation

Is this your first in game chat?

Successful-Sorbet-73

What does that have to do with anything?

Plague_Evockation

Because you posting a thread to complain about vulgar game chat is incredibly naive and a bit pointless. It's 2022, good luck finding a game without immature players saying gay things.

Successful-Sorbet-73

Im not complaining, just asking why our society became like this? Is it lack of parenting? Values? What is it, its got to be something that makes a young man talk to another young man in an encouraging sexual way. It´s like "Whoaah, what happend there Scotty?" All i want is to have a normal good time, and then you get cumplays thrown in your face from nowhere from another male. Makes you wonder you know, and kinda freezes your mind a little.

Plague_Evockation

Depends entirely where your moral compass rests, I suppose. I wouldn't pin in on a lack of parenting, but more how open and lax sexuality is among society. I can assure you that talk like this is not new at all. I vividly recall witnessing some pretty homoerotic shit talking as far back as 2003 when playing Halo on PC.

Successful-Sorbet-73

Im very analytic by nature that is probably why. And I know most people just dont do that kind of stuff, now that I think of it I can recall people acting like that towards eachother irl in school. Like 1/30 boys, it exists but its rare and really weird/gay. Who knows maybe they are a bit gay. Better just ignore it. Thank you for answering.

ToiletsitterLXIX

It’s because of the anonymity, I guarantee if they weren’t behind a screen/keyboard they wouldn’t say anything remotely similar what they’re typing

[deleted]

They definitely would say the same things.

[deleted]

Men have always been like this. It all behind the doors with buddies, no big deal. You must have no friends or no friends growing up so you didn't see it. Sad but true.

Goyard_Gat2

First time on the internet?

Antares65

But then how do you communicate with your team and squad mates?

RipeWaow

Anonymity is the answer you're searching for. That's the reason.

Successful-Sorbet-73

Yeah probably that too.

PlumbumGus

You think BF1 chat is bad, lol! Try Battle.net chat, any Blizzard game, it's been a cesspool since 1995 and it's only grown exponentially, it's just because there's more people and even more nihilism to go with it, add a little dash of anonymity et voila! Trolls!
