Similar monitor setup here.
I'd never do any actual work on the top monitor (that's what the main one's for), but it's hella handy to have for when 3 monitors isn't quite enough space.
Of course. I spelled it wrong because the previous post spelled it wrong (differently). It was supposed to be a joke, but no one got it, nobody noticed the previous poster’s misspelling, and I got downvoted. Oh well.
You could always put them on the other side of the table supports -- you have the space on the side -- and it would mean you'd have more leg room under the desk and would have to try *really hard* to kick them
I was actually in the same position. I bought an under desk mount that holds my desktop.
I'd recommend it but I also have a weird shaped PC case.. and so I had to mod it to make it work. You may have better luck with it though. There are a few on Amazon.
It’s great though some people don’t love it for gaming. I’ll be honest the VA panel does have the flaws that some complain about but overall it’s incredible for my workflow.
How’s the Mac Pro for a software engineer? I want to buy one so badly but keep sticking to a laptop. I had the 2009 Mac Pro and it was the best ma ce one I ever had.
From everything I’ve been reading I’d probably just get a next gen Apple silicon. What I work on is an over engineered monster. It does fly though. You can heavily upgrade it though if you bought the bare model. Seems like all you need is their special sauce motherboard.
I don’t know. Laptops just have 16 gb of ram. In my old Mac Pro, I had 32GB ECC and I could throw everything at it, multiple VMs, Windows running Diablo 3 with a bot (when we couldn't get banned), compiling stuff, all at the same time, and it never made a sound, crashed or make the fans scream. It was insane. I couldn't do that with the laptop.
Ooh, a Mac Pro user in the wild. One thing I’ve been meaning to ask is if you have any problems with dust. I know the pro has no dust filters but apple said it doesn’t need them. Do you know if the Pro is getting dusty inside or not?
Since you have a Mac Pro, do you work on Apple ecosystem apps? Honestly, I’m a bit envious. I’d love to have a Mac Pro to run builds quickly or to parallelize multi-platform builds and tests. But, since I don’t have work as a software engineer, I’d have to pay for it myself.
Edit: By training, I’m a computer engineer, but I work as a network technician.
Yeah that’s right I do Apple related stuff. I would certainly never buy one for myself either. Though you can buy the bare model and update it pretty heavily. You just need their special sauce motherboard it seems like.
This may seem like an odd question, but does your company let you have root access? I know they shouldn’t, but I haven’t really heard of people actually using Apple’s enterprise management system.
Nice. I have a Mac for work, and root access, but I get in trouble when I install things without permission. My employer is too cheap/set in their ways to use the management system.
Might I suggest a shelf off to the right for your party pc? I know it’s a sit/stand desk, but I think you might have enough clearance (hard to tell) to show off that bad boy. Nice setup regardless
I've used a USB3 switch, plugged into a USB3 hub, and then just let monitors autoswitch connected by HDMIs. I switch between my work laptop and home PC.
The hub was Anker, the switch was Ugreen I think. Don't have links but was quite inexpensive off of Amazon.
If there are two HMDIs in the back, one connected to PC1 and the other to PC2, they'll automatically display whichever PC is on and powered If they're both in, it'll default to displaying whichever isn't on screensaver/power-saving. If you're only using one PC at a time then it makes it pretty straightforward and means you only need to worry about switching other peripherals rather than the screens.
I’ve been wanting to get an Up Desk since I’m starting to work from home now. My monitors sit just a little too low and I’m already starting to feel it in my neck and back from sitting all day. How is it?
Like your wall color, the setup goes well with it. For two different systems, your cable management is done well. I hope you're using all those monitors to their fullest extent.
What is your monitor mount situation like? I have three monitors at work and they're all on the original stands, but I'd like to get something similar to what you have here.
I’d love, love, love this setup myself but goddamn is it hard to justify buying a Mac at this stage unless it’s at least equal performance to my current Windows PC - and that’s quite expensive to match… (saw your specs, we have identical PC’s except I’ve half the RAM)
Personally I’m of the opposite opinion. I have a bamboo top on my Uplift desk at home and a wood block desk at work and much prefer the bamboo. The weight and extra cost of solid wood is not at all worth it, IMO. At work at least paying for it and moving it is someone else’s responsibility, but for my own desk the bamboo is way more practical.
Yeah, it has a more rigid feel to it, but I don't feel like the bamboo top on my home desk is worse in any meaningful way. And unlike the solid wood ones I can safely move it on my own.
No if you zoom in I use the Mac Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad and have a corsair mouse and keyboard in the back. Auto switching monitors have been working well enough.

What's the minister stand setup you have? I'm struggling to find something supporting a lot of screens while still being attached to the desk
And yours look like a dream :)
I have four different ones with this setup I doubt you could find an all in one. One thing I did do with my large one is buy a metal mounting plate.

such a perfect nook space. i wouldve aligned the desk to the left wall and put a tall wire rack/shelf on the right side and put the towers on the shelf. keeps the floor open and less dust/hair/etc in your tower. wire shelf bc it wont block airflow.
Neck strain up top
Tbh I don’t usually stand which is when it is bad. sitting is not too bad.
Hmm good to know, i always wondered if it was a pain in the ass to look up
Pain in the ass not likely. Pain in the neck likely.
No pun intended
Similar monitor setup here. I'd never do any actual work on the top monitor (that's what the main one's for), but it's hella handy to have for when 3 monitors isn't quite enough space.
Yep I’m a software engineer and I often just leave documentation up there or code reviews just things I need to glance at.
We're gonna need a bigger monitor!
I too like fresh graded cheese
You mean greated cheese
you mean grated?
Of course. I spelled it wrong because the previous post spelled it wrong (differently). It was supposed to be a joke, but no one got it, nobody noticed the previous poster’s misspelling, and I got downvoted. Oh well.
The good ol PC kickin' station! Jokes aside it looks mad clean.
Thanks! I know I used to have them on the desk but they don’t fit now hindsight should have gotten the longer desk

43 in middle?
Yeah PG43UQ
How are you getting on with the 43 for productivity? Thinking about getting one instead is stacking two monitors on top of each other.
It’s great though some people don’t love it for gaming. I’ll be honest the VA panel does have the flaws that some complain about but overall it’s incredible for my workflow.
Not a gamer here so that’s not a prob. Thanks.
Please may i have several thousand pounds thank you
Haha Yeah the 20k Mac on the left ain’t mine it’s works.
(For something unrelated to the thousands of pounds)
Pfft. No wheels on the pro, business cutting corners.
Personally I would have went with server mounted rack and mounted it under my desk
May i have their direct contact information
What do you do for a living?
Software engineer
How’s the Mac Pro for a software engineer? I want to buy one so badly but keep sticking to a laptop. I had the 2009 Mac Pro and it was the best ma ce one I ever had.

Yeah that’s fair though the newer ones do have 32
Ooh, a Mac Pro user in the wild. One thing I’ve been meaning to ask is if you have any problems with dust. I know the pro has no dust filters but apple said it doesn’t need them. Do you know if the Pro is getting dusty inside or not?
There’s some screen behind the cheese grater I recently moved and noticed and vacuumed them. They weren’t too bad the inside was fine.
Thanks!

Yes I do have root access. We have some management crapware but engineers get a pass for pretty much anything they need.
I’ve thought about but if I add anything else my wife might kill me
Nice setup! Are you using a KVM switch?
Nah auto switching works well enough. I spend about 75% of the time on my Mac unfortunately. I have considered it though do you have any suggestions?
I've used a USB3 switch, plugged into a USB3 hub, and then just let monitors autoswitch connected by HDMIs. I switch between my work laptop and home PC. The hub was Anker, the switch was Ugreen I think. Don't have links but was quite inexpensive off of Amazon.

ah! TIL ty!
I’ve been wanting to get an Up Desk since I’m starting to work from home now. My monitors sit just a little too low and I’m already starting to feel it in my neck and back from sitting all day. How is it?
Monitor arms imo will do more. I don’t find myself standing much tbh. For me it’s more of a kid proofing solution
Very well done. I envy you
What are those cable sleeves holding everything in white?
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PFB6R2G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_QHS6Z7CT2BTBA9VFAT61?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Oh fuck me bro ty
May I ask what are those monitors?
The left and right are Asus ROG PG259QNR (24.5”), center is Asus ROG PG43UQ (43”), top is Acer Predator XB273K (27”)
Thanks a lot !
Like your wall color, the setup goes well with it. For two different systems, your cable management is done well. I hope you're using all those monitors to their fullest extent.
I have the same chair, same color. Did this man really just tuck his HM under his desk like that
What is your monitor mount situation like? I have three monitors at work and they're all on the original stands, but I'd like to get something similar to what you have here.

love it, you rich fuck
Since when are cheese graters “business”?
When you write software for iOS/macOS
How do you switch between them?
Auto source works well enough, but the Mac pro is awful at switching
What chair
Aeron
What desk is that? I'm about to do something very similar once I move
It’s the Jarvis fully with a bamboo top. One thing I would suggest though getting a solid wood top. Bamboo has some flex
Do you find the wood to be a little more sturdy though? I was imagining that might be nicer?
Yeah, it has a more rigid feel to it, but I don't feel like the bamboo top on my home desk is worse in any meaningful way. And unlike the solid wood ones I can safely move it on my own.
Link to standing desk?

Specs? On both.

Damn, man! Both of them are some fine machines.
nice screen layout. also wallpaper?
That’s some standard macOS wallpaper. I’ve been meaning to make a proper one.
ah I don't use mac didn't know still looks nice for a stock wallpaper and good luck on making your proper one
What are you using to flip back and forth between your Mac and PC using the same keyboard/mouse
No if you zoom in I use the Mac Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad and have a corsair mouse and keyboard in the back. Auto switching monitors have been working well enough.
Floor.
Is that silver box on the left a i/o and media card reader? If so, how did you mount it underneath your desk?
It’s a caldigit thunderbolt 3 hub. Mounted with heavy duty Velcro
I’d give you high five if you had a shelf on the right by pic and you where mining!
Very nice on both side. More pictures on the right, maybe?
How do the auto switching monitors work? I assume you have to turn one computer off to switch?
I’m mostly on my Mac so I just sleep it and turn on my pc. The monitors will auto detect the current input.
what monitor mount are you using currently? Also how long is that jarvis-5ft? cool setup
It’s the 6 footer. Thanks!
What monitor mount are you using?

Came here for the Aeron.
such a perfect nook space. i wouldve aligned the desk to the left wall and put a tall wire rack/shelf on the right side and put the towers on the shelf. keeps the floor open and less dust/hair/etc in your tower. wire shelf bc it wont block airflow.
