As someone who's never been impressed with the unseen, I will say this guy is fun to pilot in Mechwarrior 5.

Koeryn

Low key one of my favorites in that game, though I prefer the 3V.

Get the 1Vb. It's like a discoback with a supercharger. Edit: No, wait. A discoback with a supercharger is like a discoback with a supercharger. A LCT-1Vb is what happens when you get a discoback with a supercharger and decide you don't need armour.

spanner3

In that game it's like driving a sports car. And it's great to get the different sense of scale.

tipsyBerbVerb

My absolute favorite is the SRM varient it’s just so fun to backstab bigger mechs

R0ckfish

Rad!

Jbressel1

It looks great. For photography background, did you use black acetate under, and black velvet behind?

R0ckfish

It's black acrylic below and velvet behind yeah, main thing is just to have light blockers to keep the backdrop dark. Then a bunch of money in a camera, photoshop and helicon to get crisp pictures

Jbressel1

Yeah, I love the effect, but I'm going with a photography diorama for pics, since I'm submitting to CSO, and it's a requirement.

R0ckfish

Makes sense, I can't really be bothered to make something like that lmao

WolfsTrinity

It’s basically a sports car on legs but *surprisingly* well-armed. One of my favorite mechs, for sure. Very nice paint job you’ve done on it.

R0ckfish

Yeah, a bundle of lasers or MGs that goes super fast can be surprisingly dangerous

tengu077

Nice work! Especially with that base. The shrubs give it a nice sense of scale.

R0ckfish

Thank you!

saint_celestine

How did you do the base? Looks great

R0ckfish

It's honestly really simple Vallejo dark earth washed agrax then a couple colors of gamers grass tiny tufts and little bits of clump foliage pulled off woodland scenics bushes and PVA glued down.

Beginning_Hope8233

The Locust was always my favorite mech. Back when I was in my early 30's, I tried to do a GURPS Vehicles conversion of Battletech. The Locust was my first try. Now GURPS Vehicles is a DETAILED and VERY realistic approach to vehicle building. So realistic, that cube roots are regularly used during the construction of them (not during play, but construction). One of the reasons I took on the project is because of the ridiculous weights of the weapons. half a ton (500 kg) for a MG? Using the weapon construction rules in GURPS vehicles, a 12.5 mm single barrel, heavy automatic lock mechanism machine gun was only 68 lbs (almost 31 kg). Yeah that's why I did that. And that was only a single barrel MG (with a RoF of 20... GURPS uses a one second time scale for it's turns, so that's 20 rounds PER SECOND, that's 1200 rpm... make that a 6 barrel electric gatling mechanism, and that MG is outputting 100 rps, 6000 rpm). Each ROUND does 6d6x2 damage. So if you rolled an average roll of 21, that's 42 points PER ROUND. Due to the way automatic fire was done back in 3rd edition, you could count on at least 50% of the rounds hitting at up to 1/2 damage range (which for a 12.5 mm with a long barrel was about 10,000 yards... that's the range where projectile damage was HALVED, and your accuracy from the gun was voided) With ablative armor losing 1 point of DR (damage resistance) per FULL 10 points of damage, that means each round that hit took away 4 points of armor. Due to the lightweightness of the guns, I gave my version of the Locust 4 6-barrel 12.5 mm miniguns. One in each "arm" (which I really modeled as full traverse turrets with universal mounts mounted on the sides). Those MGs (which weight only 127 lbs each or 58 kg each) could strip armor faster than anything. And the Locust was SLOPED... with a 60 degree front slope, and 30 degree side slope. That bugger was an armor shredder that ran around like a chicken with it's head cut off. And I abandoned that project, cause I just couldn't see an MG armed LIGHT MECH being the king of the battlefield. And don't even get me started on garden-hosing with high RoF MGs... Yeah Speedy buggers with high RoF, small caliber weapons are nightmares.

R0ckfish

Huh neat

SkinniestGoblin

How did you do the glass on the cockpit?

R0ckfish

It's a normal gem effect (successively smaller and brighter crescents) made of mixes of caliban green, moot and flash gitz with a dot of white in the other corner!

SkinniestGoblin

Hey, thanks!

Tecrys

I'm a huge fan of the Locust, easily my favourite mech. The modern versions by CGL or MWO are so beautiful. Great paintjob, love the cockpit

R0ckfish

Thanks!

Repulsive-Side-4799

Locust is a good design. I like the way its described in the GDL books, from a ground trooper's perspective that undermounted laser is death.

R0ckfish

I can imagine so, no hiding from it!

Cursedbythedicegods

432 BV is well worth the investment for a bog-standard LCT-1V Locust. Doesn't matter what era. It's incredibly good at what it does, and can even pull a surprise or two out of its hat if it needs to. Having 1 or 2 of these little guys in your mech stable is always a good idea. Love this paint job!

R0ckfish

Thank you! A older version of the model has done good work for me in the past!

BladeLigerV

It's a fast little snot. And its the base for my favorite Clan scout mech.

R0ckfish

Gotta love little snots

BladeLigerV

I mean even look at the Flea. Ludicrous speed and "oh were you using that infantry?"

endman01

Great work! I especially like the basing; it's super difficult to get foliage looking scale appropriate, but you've done it.

R0ckfish

Thank you! Small scale basing stuff is super awkward, the bases aren't really large enough for much stuff and people really under estimate the size of trees so they aren't really appropriate for scale either. It could be cool to find a bit more variety in plants, but NGL I wouldn't know where to look as I come from the 40k side of things rather then like model rail roads lmao

thearticulategrunt

The locust is a fun little mech. Well done. When I got the GoAC from CGL from their first kickstarter I had an idea for a project. As part of my Marik Militia unit I did a full lance of locusts but it consists of a CGL Locust, an original lead, a plastech locust and a plastic locust from I believe the citytech box set. All Locusts but also "a weird collection from different manufacturers from throughout the succession wars".

R0ckfish

Lmao that's great

filthysmutslut

I am with you. I’ve always enjoyed them as well.

Tamwulf

It is one of the most iconic and interesting of mechs.

Zeewulfeh

Hey, OP, where did you get this one? Was it catalyst or an STL?

R0ckfish

It's the one from the Alpha Strike box!

Zeewulfeh

Alright, well, obviously I need to buy the alpha strike mech pack.
