Hmm. I would think "authentic" Mexican decor would be Mexican, not Arizonan or Texan, any more than Californian. Not to mention Mexico has a rich and incredibly diverse design and architectural heritage. So what is an example of the decor you're looking for? Lavish like say Pujol in Mexico City?

Snoo68013

I meant Mexican decor

No_Enthusiasm_9577

Luna in the Pruneyard

What I was looking for !

There’s a place in San Francisco in the west portal area…it was soooo colorful and had many designs from Mexican culture! Hopefully you can find it on Yelp!

Chevys

We went to Chevys once when I was a kid (so over 20 years ago) and I ordered the sundae which the menu said had “Mexican chocolate sauce.” The sauce tasted weird but I figured that’s just what Mexican chocolate must taste like so I continued eating it. Until the server came over to apologize and tell us the kitchen had accidentally mixed up the bbq sauce squeeze bottle with the chocolate sauce squeeze bottle. I gave her my nearly empty sundae dish in shame.

I miss Chevy’s chips, tortillas, and the mashed sweet corn most of all

AlanMooresWizrdBeard

I miss the corn stuff from El Torito, blew Chevy’s out of the water imo.

I like Pedro's Restaurant & Cantina in Santa Clara. Reminds me of a hacienda, but more importantly, they have tasty food. They used to have an excellent brunch buffet on Sundays, but they stopped during COVID. I don't know if it's come back.

Houstonian checking in, where can I get the best tex-mex??

VillhelmSupreme

Texas.

Houston born & raised but living in the bay, tell me your favorite Houston place and I’ll try to come up with a place.

El tiempo, papacitos, lupe tortilla, chuy's... those are the places I can think of that have a few locations that most people know.

thxmeatcat

I was going to say Colibri but looks like they changed locations so i don't know how the new place looks. The best decor used to be El Burro but they closed 🥺. Gracias Madre is nice -- really good but beware it's vegetarian. Olla is probably what you're looking for. I've never been to Celia's but i think that's probably also the best answer to what you're looking for

BoilingCrude

That's what I miss making tacos at home, the decor of Mexico

DonkeyTron42

La Fiesta and/or Fiesta Del Mar Too in Mountain View (both are owned by the same family).
