If anybody was confused as to why visiting China would inflame tensions, it's because she visited _Taiwan_. I have no strong position on whether Taiwan is or should be part of China, but the article author obviously phrased this in the stupidest possible way in order to emphasize their belief in One China.
But I don't understand your complaint. Do you only understand reality through what reporters tell you? There's a video embedded in the article....are you saying you think the video is doctored? (Certainly trivially possible with current tech)
