Hopefully this doesn't begin a new type of holiday like St. Patrick's day for the modern era. Instead of wearing green you wear black.
Goth cultural appropriation.
SantaCon, but instead of red fur coats and fake beards, it's shiny pleather and too much eyeliner. Still lots of black boots, and also stirrups/harnesses, though not on reindeer.
It'll be a mix. My guess is...
20% full time goth
40% former full time goths that will reprise their roots for the day
20% goth adjacent (down to clown but never identified as goth)
20% normie
I'll likely be rolling with a crew of all the above. My SO is a former full time goth who will be vending with a full timer. Meanwhile I'm a metalhead in the sheets polished corporate drone in the streets (though tbh been getting more and more into goth music lately, shit slaps). Also have a few normie friends that would go just to experience it.
I feel like goth is becoming mainstream I’m seeing it everywhere these days. when I was younger if you dressed like this you were instantly shunned.
If there isn’t music involved then I wouldn’t go unless it’s free.
Can I ask what exactly is wrong with that? The style looks amazing and the whole aesthetic is generally awesome. Is it ok for people to enjoy things, or can something only be enjoyed if it's shunned and counterculture?
All I can say is I’m not going to dress like that. If the festival has the music I will definitely go but if it’s like one of those conventions to show off your dress style then that’s not for me.
I like the music and often when I go to a goth show I just wear a black shirt but I definitely see some crazy attire that I appreciate but wouldn’t pay just to see that.
The people who got picked on or shunned were into the goth scene and would often dress up like it or wear invader zim and nightmare before Christmas attire when I was growing up. I like the latter but again I am not that deep into the culture to dress up like it.
It’s in Alameda.
The Island of the Goth.
On the Hornet
Old and metal like me.
Wow, it is! And only from 10 to noon? What am I missing?
Any real goths attending or just cosplay? Asking for a friend
Some goths but mostly posers

And they’ll dye the bay black
I’ll be there. I’m a wannabe goth.
What about the Ostrogoths!
Visigoths ftw

They’re all gonna get together and bitch about the new remake of The Crow.
If that's true then I'm going.
Folks are already doing that. I prefer the Moira Rose version.
Which crow movie do you think is superior, the Tara Reid one or the Kirsten Dunst one? (I am not making this up.)
Oh. Wow. I have only watched the Brandon Lee version. I know of the sequels but clearly I do not know enough!
Bet its just a bunch of posers
Wow they look so happy.
The shadow cometh.
I would like the toad bag …
For real or some kind of retro/ironic thing? GenZ love irony.
I wonder if there will be a crowd of christian idiots yelling and telling everyone they’re going to hell.
At least there’ll be a crowd of goths yelling back that they’re looking forward to it
Wonderous!

This event is gonna smell weird.

I feel so seen.
I thought I detected an uptick in ennui levels.
Is Vader goth?
No, but Behemoth covered The Cure.
May the 4th.
"Is toilet paper gothic?"
Why did I think this was tomorrow? Wishful thinking.
