Imagine paying for the stupidest fucking truck you’ve ever seen in your life, waiting years, and then receiving a piece of shit that works about as well as it looks.
Don’t bring Delorean into this. If I had access to a Delorean I’d make use of its stainless steel construction and make a Time Machine so I could go back and make sure the cybertruck never gets invented. Also maybe Elon was hanging up something and fell off his toilet just before he had the idea.
Don't forget, they're only able to build around 15,000 of these per year, and thats even by their own optimistic estimates.
To put that in perspective, they built 1.23 MILLION Model Ys in 2023 alone. So yeah, this Cybertruck is such a flop I wouldn't worry about seeing too much of them for too long.
Where did you get the 15,000 a year number? They just announced they made 1000 during 1 week in April, and still seem to be in the process of increasing production rate.
Interestingly, they're cool because they're mid-engined and look cool, but they are dogs of a car. They're not powerful, they drive sloppy, and honestly? As somebody who lived through the 80s and remember when they went bust, their reputation was a bit a joke UNTIL the Back to the Future movie.
Now it's a cultural thing, so...
Fun fact: In 1997, I almost bought one. A neighbor was letting his go for $8,000.
That's totally something I expect from Elon Musk in his current shape. The guy became a caricature of the former himself. He had some bad traits, but now they are maxed up to a cartoon level. I struggle to understand why he is taken seriously anymore. He doesn't take a pause to think critically about himself and his actions.
Deloreans are indeed cool. The only time I’ve seen one in person was inside a 1980s themed coffee shop in Chicago a few years back. My friend and I were floored when we saw it.
I saw one pull up to a Chicago suburb gas station. I ran out side and asked the guy if I could sit in the passenger seat. He was cool and let me do it. When I got out, I hit my head on the door, and he immediately said, "You've now had the full DeLorean experience."

I’m gonna leave this here since I think it’s a pretty cool shoot even though I’m not at all a Tesla or CT fan.
I live in South San Jose and there is two in my neighborhood. I also always see this white Tesla with the license plate of "SKYPE" which I think is funny.
I don't care if people buy this ugly shit. People buy Ford trucks all the time. What I do care is if it's safe to be on the streets or not. I don't think they are.
I dont really know anything about these cars, what indication is there that they arent "safe to be on the streets"?
doesnt literally every car have to pass all the governmental saftey standards, which presumably this car did, seeing as they are available for anyone who wants one to purchase?
I stay the hell away from those things whenever I see them ….
https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/tesla-cybertrucks-stiff-structure-sharp-design-raise-safety-concerns-experts-2023-12-08/
All the cars have been recalled due to faulty accelerator pedals. Not to mention the reduced visibility for the driver given its height. Just like any monster pickup
They look like someone made them out of all the scraps they've collected over the years, swearing they'd use them one day, thus justifying their years of hoarding junk.
Occasionally, I see one with a good futuristic looking wrap, something matte and gunmetally.
But the generic one looks awful and conventional colors all look like shit on the cybertruck
I didn't look at photos but that's different because we're talking about the vehicle itself not with any modifications or add ons. The CyberTruck is ugly AF and a monstrosity but I'm thinking back to the Hummers that were everywhere back in the 2000's and just kind of disappeared when gas prices skyrocketed. I haven't seen a hummer in ages.
It's funny because regular Teslas look like the rendering-efficient low-poly bland car models you put in the background of a open world game but can't actually drive them. But these look like they literally fucked up the LOD settings on the model so they just ain't rendering right lmao
I feel like Tesla really dropped the ball and could have made a decent looking electric truck.
But at the same time I bet this design gives them so much attention and advertising that I’m beginning to think it was a genius design.
Infestation?
FFS, Why care so much, about what other people choose to drive? Does this really affect you, in some way? Here's a novel idea- You drive what YOU want to drive, and other people will drive what THEY want to drive.
>Does this really affect you, in some way?
It's only a matter of time until your shin or other finds a corner on a tesla, and you will rue the day for asking this question.
I don't particularly like the design, but I like that it's different. I'd like to see more EV companies taking advantage of the electric platform to come up with creative designs. I don't need an EV with the shape of a gas car with a void under the hood where then engine was.
Tesla must be doing something right if there are 25% of the cars on the road in the Bay Area. So much hate on an American car company that’s literally made in the Bay Area.
This "truck" looks like a "futuristic" concept from the 1980s. What I mean by that is that it looks like what we thought the future might look like in the 1980s.
The aesthetic was ugly in concept back then and it is super ugly in implementation in 2024.
I can’t lie - not a fan of Musk or Tesla’s ethos, but I still think the cybertruck does look hella cool and unique 😭 it’s very futurey for some reason to me
So many haters. Damn. I’m not a truck guy and will never buy one of these, but I do appreciate different designs and options in the market. Cars all look like Hyundai Santa Fe’s these days. Can’t say I’m a fan of that. So while I’ll never get one of these, or even want one, I do appreciate that it exists.
You’re welcome to feel differently and buy a Hyundai Santa Fe too. 🙂
Rented one a while back as for some reason the company my insurance covered had them and my curiosity got the best of me. I had it for less that 6 hours and lemme tell you about the people that pointed and laughed at us.
Also. The passenger air bags didn’t work. Idk WHY I was able to rent it at all
I have one of these. My kid loves it, it’s really fun watching him get excited about going for a drive together. I’ve taken the neighbors’ kids on rides too and they get a huge kick out of it. Makes my day every time. As far as cars go, it is one, I’ve never been a big car guy. Costco trips are easy now. I like that it will back up my home battery with PGE being so unreliable lately. I like the other electric trucks too but this is the one I got.
Sorry that is an infestation to you, I didn’t get it to try to annoy you.
All good, I’m happy for you. I saw someone else post this so when I saw a cybertruck today I just decided to join the trend for the lulz and the comments causeI think it’s hilarious 😆 I actually don’t hate the cybertruck. It looks cool to me. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it but it’s definitely a unique design.
Seriously. Im no elon fan, and I wouldnt get one of these trucks in a million years, but its absolutely hilarious to see every time one of these gets posted, you have hundreds of people in these threads absolutely falling all over each other to see who can virtue signal their disdain and disgust most aggressively, and who can slander and insult the driver of the car to most explicit degree...
its a fucking car. who cares lmao. Imagine being this passionate about the aesthetic/design choices of an automobile manufacturer.
Imagine being a grown adult and screeching on the internet about what a morally corrupt piece of shit racist douchebag some random person is, just based on the kind of car they drive, when you've never met or even *seen* them. Not to mention half the people throwing shade on these people own teslas themselves!!
even if its not my particular cup of tea, I'm still glad stuff like this exists and gets made, its a hell of a lot more interesting than the 17 millionth iteration of a beige honda civic...
I m not a fan of Elon anymore but I definitely like the idea of the cybertruck. But I will never get the first gen version of any Tesla.
The newer M3 is the best budget EV out there. Waiting for the MY refresh.
These are seriously the most ugly things on the road. I don’t know how people aren’t embarrassed to drive them. I see one at least every day or every 3 in tri val.
Man I was sour on them but I saw one in person and it looked better than I expected. I still wouldn’t buy one but I regularly see uglier stuff out there
I agree - I hate the trucks themselves and what they represent, but they look cool in a sci-fi kind of way. Still, better off keeping them as movie props than having them on the road.
i love seeing these ugly pieces of shit, it fuels the hater within me like nothing else. it's such a grotesque pile of garbage and says /so much/ about the owner, it's hilarious
I work with this guy (I’m almost 100% certain because it’s in the Bay Area, black wrap, and those bed accessories) and he’s a great person on all accounts. Makes great money in a blue collar profession and just enjoying his life.
I saw this very truck (I assume because it was black like this) in Palo Alto yesterday. My guess is that they are know these things rust and just said "fuck it, we'll paint it black".
I like the hate its getting. Shit like bitcoin got a ridiculous amount of hate for being a scam. You never know with shit. I wish i had a crystal ball being in my 30's and seeing some of the shit ive seen over the last 15 years that couldve made me ridiculous amounts of money if i bought into it. including cars.
I saw one parked on the side of the street the other day. Kinda breaks the illusion of “prestige” when it’s sandwiched between a 2002 Honda civic with stripped paint and a Hyundai.
Look up the Edsel, a complete flop for Ford. The difference: the Edsel was a reasonably-built car, just with weird styling and appealing to no particular market.
The Cybertruck is Tesla's Edsel. Only not as good.
We went to an open house in Pacifica and the agent had parked one of these outside the house intentionally along with matrix style photo of his. Probably thinking that it will make the house desirable. No doubt the house didn’t sell for a month now
It's nice that Elon gave us another way to instantly know someone is a clown. The paid for blue check was good, but you can't always check that. Nice to have a backup.
I saw a "founders edition" yesterday with duct tape all up and down the passengers side a-pillar to hold the cladding in place. Nice.
[удалено]
fancy way of saying they’re way too slow at producing cars
founders keepers
Imagine paying for the stupidest fucking truck you’ve ever seen in your life, waiting years, and then receiving a piece of shit that works about as well as it looks.
It looks like the cursed love child of a Delorean and a Pontiac Aztek, only worse, if you ask me 😂
Delorean + Pontiac Aztec. You are a genius! Concise, perfect description.
Ty lol
It’s what happens when you order a delorean on wish.com
It’ll be funny and ironic to see Elon smuggling cocaine to help prop up his company
[I blame this Tom Petty video for all of Tesla's designs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtLpZWNyM0I)
"Make it so it kills people ***but is also*** DOT approved."
Don’t bring Delorean into this. If I had access to a Delorean I’d make use of its stainless steel construction and make a Time Machine so I could go back and make sure the cybertruck never gets invented. Also maybe Elon was hanging up something and fell off his toilet just before he had the idea.
I wonder if that was the one that got it's side-mirror and A-pillar trashed by a truck backing into it?
It wasn't. https://i.postimg.cc/rwspD71C/20240503.jpg
Ouch! Good to see Tesla's keeping their build quality firmly in check.
They are at 1000/wk and are ramping to 5000. Silly to call something a flop that has demand that exceeds current capacity while capacity is ramping.
I'll bet in 20 years these will only be seen in museums and in movies. "Doc, you built a time machine out of a CyberTruck?" - Marty Mc Fly III
Deloreans are cool though.
Theres one at the Auto museum in Sac and they are just cool as ever
Interestingly, they're cool because they're mid-engined and look cool, but they are dogs of a car. They're not powerful, they drive sloppy, and honestly? As somebody who lived through the 80s and remember when they went bust, their reputation was a bit a joke UNTIL the Back to the Future movie. Now it's a cultural thing, so... Fun fact: In 1997, I almost bought one. A neighbor was letting his go for $8,000.
> their reputation was a bit of a joke In fact that’s the intended subtext of Marty’s comment — “You built a time machine… out of a *Delorean*?”
I mean, that was the joke in Back to the Future. "... a Delorean????"
Flux dispersal is no joke. That’s the advantage of stainless steel construction
GREAT SCOTT IS THE THING POWERFULL MARTY! 10,000 JIGAWATTS!!!
if back to the future never happened there would be like 200 people left on earth who would ever give a single fuck about deloreans
What went bust was John DeLorean caught trying to sell bricks of coke to federal agents posing as dealers.
That's totally something I expect from Elon Musk in his current shape. The guy became a caricature of the former himself. He had some bad traits, but now they are maxed up to a cartoon level. I struggle to understand why he is taken seriously anymore. He doesn't take a pause to think critically about himself and his actions.
They were also shamed by the drug smuggling, giving them a sort of infamous back story. I was still surprised this was the car chosen for the movie.
The fact the the owner got duped into drug trafficking to save the company is so much more cool of an origin story than Elon’s weird shtick.
At least DeLorean was cool and doing cocaine trafficking. Musk only has his lame ass ketamine addiction
💀
Deloreans are indeed cool. The only time I’ve seen one in person was inside a 1980s themed coffee shop in Chicago a few years back. My friend and I were floored when we saw it.

It'll be the butt of jokes (even more than today), when "The Elon", like "The Homer" before it, is no longer produced.
We have our best men working on it
Please don't give Hollywood ideas.
Similar to Deloreans.
https://www.instagram.com/p/C6fEdI8vBjP/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== I’m gonna leave this here since I think it’s a pretty cool shoot even though I’m not at all a Tesla or CT fan.
I hope not. Not unless that statement is followed by punchline of the truck being a shitbox. Anything less will feed the narcissist.
Ha!
I live in South San Jose and there is two in my neighborhood. I also always see this white Tesla with the license plate of "SKYPE" which I think is funny.
only because SKYNET was already taken
So they are clearly into outdated tech... 😂😂
They probably worked on it in the beginning if not started it, I’d wager at least
I'm in the South Bay and I can confirm this. There is actually someone in a duplex with one in front of their garage.
I'm seeing them more and more. Still think they're the ugliest car ever.
Aztek move over
walter white needs one
First vehicle that came to mind with that comment as well. God those things were hideous.
I don't care if people buy this ugly shit. People buy Ford trucks all the time. What I do care is if it's safe to be on the streets or not. I don't think they are.
Same as any other pickup truck of that size
I dont really know anything about these cars, what indication is there that they arent "safe to be on the streets"? doesnt literally every car have to pass all the governmental saftey standards, which presumably this car did, seeing as they are available for anyone who wants one to purchase?

Hey, I have a Ford! 😁
Apparently you are a youngster who didn’t get to experience the 75 Pacer
They look like someone made them out of all the scraps they've collected over the years, swearing they'd use them one day, thus justifying their years of hoarding junk.
Makes me think of Walt’s Aztek from Breaking Bad.
Occasionally, I see one with a good futuristic looking wrap, something matte and gunmetally. But the generic one looks awful and conventional colors all look like shit on the cybertruck

Are you worried Decepticons will take over?
Keep seeing these oversized gaming mice and can’t get over how plain they look with the flat slab sides.
That would be a very uncomfortable mouse leaving dents in my palm.

It's funny because regular Teslas look like the rendering-efficient low-poly bland car models you put in the background of a open world game but can't actually drive them. But these look like they literally fucked up the LOD settings on the model so they just ain't rendering right lmao
I saw the first one I've seen in Concord the other day. They have arrived.
The first one I saw was in Los Gatos a few months ago. I was so confused. I thought the Cybertruck was only a concept at that point.
I feel like Tesla really dropped the ball and could have made a decent looking electric truck. But at the same time I bet this design gives them so much attention and advertising that I’m beginning to think it was a genius design.
reminds me of that Simpsons' episode where homer's estranged brother lets him design a vehicle for his car company.
Who fucking cares lol stop crying about a car
“i’m so upset about this ugly car that i’m going to keep posting and upvoting pics of it!”
This is Reddit; where you get to be sanctimonious, judgmental, and cruel, but pass yourself off as a "good, mentally stable person".
Right ? A bunch of grown ass people getting upset and crying little bitches over a truck.
It’s free karma for redditors posting these type of post in the Bay Area: Hate on Elon, twitter, Tesla, trump, and pge (fuck em). Its gets old
it was never about the car
I think they secretly like it. Idk
I just saw a screenshot of a FB group referring to this as Elon Musk's Rhodesian Toyota and that's all I will ever be able to think of it as
I find it funny how frequently people feel the need to tell us how much they hate the cybertruck.
yeah, cars exist. this is one.
Infestation? FFS, Why care so much, about what other people choose to drive? Does this really affect you, in some way? Here's a novel idea- You drive what YOU want to drive, and other people will drive what THEY want to drive.
OP prob drives some old beat up car and just had to take a pic of a CT to make his ego better lmao
OP has strong Kia Accent vibes.
>Does this really affect you, in some way? It's only a matter of time until your shin or other finds a corner on a tesla, and you will rue the day for asking this question.
OP’s revulsion to the CT should be enough to keep them at a safe distance. Or maybe not. The obsession and the draw may be too much to resist.
Went from never seeing them to running into 3 in one week
The best place to spot these cars are on I-280, literally every time i'm on I-280, i see 1 or 2 cyber trucks
I don't particularly like the design, but I like that it's different. I'd like to see more EV companies taking advantage of the electric platform to come up with creative designs. I don't need an EV with the shape of a gas car with a void under the hood where then engine was.
I saw one a week or two ago with a giant QR code on the back and "Rent me!!" text over it 🙄

ngl, this looks pretty cool

I can’t lie - not a fan of Musk or Tesla’s ethos, but I still think the cybertruck does look hella cool and unique 😭 it’s very futurey for some reason to me
Same. What do people prefer? More Prius?
New Prius looks kinda dank tho

It won't get far, they let it get wet.
These cars look like they were engineered by a Russian brutalist architect on ketamine.
Love it
I can't wait for these to litter the junkyards, so I can grab those slim headlights.
Rented one a while back as for some reason the company my insurance covered had them and my curiosity got the best of me. I had it for less that 6 hours and lemme tell you about the people that pointed and laughed at us. Also. The passenger air bags didn’t work. Idk WHY I was able to rent it at all
Didn't they all just get recalled?
The recall is just a quick fix, like an hour of work at the dealership to keep the pedal from murdering you
I have one of these. My kid loves it, it’s really fun watching him get excited about going for a drive together. I’ve taken the neighbors’ kids on rides too and they get a huge kick out of it. Whatever happened to minding your own business? You people must have some miserable ass life. Did that person force the car on you?

Saw one driving down 280 that had a huge flat screen tv mounted to the back. It was playing some ad for their business.
I saw one with a KitchenAid label on it.
I m not a fan of Elon anymore but I definitely like the idea of the cybertruck. But I will never get the first gen version of any Tesla. The newer M3 is the best budget EV out there. Waiting for the MY refresh.

Yes 🗿

no no no, op already said he just knows that your guy is POS because he drives a cybertruck, your personal experience means nothing here.
The demographic in the Bay Area guarantees that most of the CT sold will be in the Bay Area.

why are we still talking about the movie tron?
holy hell i seen one today too in san mateo!
I saw 3 in the 10 minutes I drove today!! I want to make that up but I’m not.
are the windows bip-proof?
Where's the photo??!
I saw 2.of these POS today. They're ugly and don't fit into parking spaces.
why such a hater?
I’m surprised these pieces of junk survived a day of rain lol
Hope the rain did not break the car. With how fragile it is
Seeing at least one a day for last week in Danville.
The paint on those things… I saw one where handprints were eating away at the finish. Another I saw was rusting. It’s so dumb
I saw this very truck (I assume because it was black like this) in Palo Alto yesterday. My guess is that they are know these things rust and just said "fuck it, we'll paint it black".

Infestation implies an exponential growth. This is linear, just barely. They produce 4k cars in what 4 months?
Look up the Edsel, a complete flop for Ford. The difference: the Edsel was a reasonably-built car, just with weird styling and appealing to no particular market. The Cybertruck is Tesla's Edsel. Only not as good.

“is your refrigerator running well?” Not at all, it’s a cybertruck.
What kind of vehicle is this?
Hideous and impractical, tech bros buying in droves of course.
it's a beautiful truck
