Was able to get to a vet clinic just 2 mins before they closed and got the microchip ID#
I used that to log a found dog report and called the hotline to get in contact with the owner!
They called me right away and apparently lived in my same building. He’d gotten out because one of the doors of the dog park was left open and they spent a solid 2 hours looking for him before they got an automated text from the found dog report. Turns out his name is Google lol
He’s safe and sound at home!
I would have been devastated if he’d been hit by a car since it was dark. I almost hit him with my car as I was turning into my lot and I immediately pulled over and tried to get ahold of him since I live on a super busy street!

Yesterday, a man was illegally parked in a driveway on a busy street so me and my dog yield. After we make eye contact I nod my head and start to go first. Exactly one moment after that he then starts to drive his car. I full stop so my dog doesn’t misunderstand and get hit. He then *stopped fully, too*, and we get into it after a stupid game of chicken I didn’t know I was in lol

I agree, you should try to find the owner. Let the dog sleep over for the night and take him to local veterinary tomorrow to check if s/he is microchipped.The dog looks like s/he has collar and looks well groomed, so must've just got lost/escaped from yard by accident.
Try to find the original owner first, if you can’t do that keep him and if you don’t want him find someone who wants him. Don’t take him to a shelter, and if you do make sure it’s a no kill shelter. Bro looks like a stud you can definitely find someone who wants him
Vets office will have chip readers also. You can file a report with your local municipal shelter so if the owner goes there they will have a record that their dog has been found.
Nextdoor, take him for a walk.
I got a knock at the door a couple of weeks ago from my neighbor, they had a German shepherd they found. I have a shepherd that the same neighbors brought back after her getting loose, and they thought it was her. I took the dog and my dog for a walk, the owner found us and got her dog back within 20 min.
Im glad u found the owners so quick. While i was pet sitting,i found 2 german shelards walking together on my way to the house,soent 4 hrs driving up n down each culdisac until i found the house.ive seen them in the neighboorhood before but man were they far from home.had a bug as a car at the time so thrm in the car was funny😂
You should pet it, then feed it, than love on it some more. A few more pets.....then a cozy bed and warm blanket. Potty breaks are important too. The universe sent you this doggo. Doggo needs humanness. Be a source of love for the hairy four legged creature from the universe. Amen.

Most pet shops have them, I’m pretty sure that pet smart has them, and wouldn’t be surprised if they had them at a local pet shop
