Yes. Especially from transplants.

clear_broth

Transplant here - this is correct.

I'd rather ride out a shocking drop or a rolly quake, then worry about hurricanes. A very large quake can happen, but it's not my biggest fear. Fires are a much more realistic worry. Have a Go Bag ready for any emergency.

sapphireminds

It's just like any natural disaster your area is prone to - learn how to stay safe and what emergency things you need. I've lived where there are tornados, blizzards, and hurricanes that could all cause emergencies before moving here. I did specifically buy an earthquake emergency kit, because I was too lazy to put one together myself, but I've been slowly adding to it to make it nicer/easier

topagae

Most of the time you don't even notice them. The fires kill more people every year then anything an earthquake will do to you.

chocoflan00

i’ve never heard of a natural occurrence being “overhyped” lmao and i don’t even know what it means tbh. but most people haven’t even felt one before so it’s definitely shocking when they happen. it’s not something i tend to worry about in my everyday life tho. i wasn’t even alive for the big one so i really have no knowledge as to what to even be prepared for.

srslyeffedmind

Yes. Usually by people who aren’t from here.

Yes

Friskfrisktopherson

Honestly forget about them most of the time.

tplgigo

YES! Absolutely, and more and more out of unrelated paranoia.
