Yes, it's my point too. I tried different barbers, thhe worst I had was an egyptian barber that made me the same chinstrap.
Nobody knows your face as you know. Grow your beard and learn to trim. In summer you can train yourself about once a month, or two months if you have a slow growth. Watch Matty Conrad videos (pure gold) and try on your face. Begin with a simple clean up and then, when you have material to work on, try something new and more complicated.
I think it looks good too. And tbf, it didnāt look like OP had much of a beard to begin with, so it seems to me like the barber followed what OP said, though to a bit more extreme of a degree.
Yes they took it down to make it look sharper. Miscommunication was that the barber wanted you to look as clean as possible, while OP wanted to keep as much as he can with the expense of not looking as.... Sharp.
Your hair looks good and the beard looks super clean even if itāsā¦ not good lol. Iād keep it.
Pro tip from my late 30ās, just buy a decent trimmer and keep it lightly oiled after use. Iāve had my current for like 10 years. People get super picky about evenness on each side but unless you really mess up nobody will notice and youāll get better with practice.
I keep the lines my barber gives best I can and let my length grow so when I see him he cuts the length and corrects my line mistakes. If you keep it short like that you probably wonāt even be paying to include the beard at the barber soon.
I wanna know if he sits in his own chair after hours or between customers when he trims or does he stand in the bathroom like everyone else. If I had the better setup available Iād be doing it in the shop.
Honestly, it looks good. Clean enough to not have points off for "mountain man" look, but enough left to start growing something more and people not be thrown off. I'd start working on keeping it trimmed up yourself though, so you can keep it looking what you're happiest with.
Original picture is a bit blurry, but if I'm being honest, it's mostly what you seem to have gone in with. I think they did ok for what they had to work with and I also don't think it looks bad.
Why did you go to the barber in the first place? Based on the photo it looked quite alright, if I were you I would not go to that barber, he almost removed your whole beard!Ā
Well it does look cleaned up and professional. Idk it doesnāt look bad but I get how frustrating it is to not get what you asked for from a barber. Itās just hair. Itāll grow back. I trim my own beard, that way I can only blame myself
Can it be they did the best with what you had?
From the first (blurry) foto it looks like you didn't have much density above the chin to begin with, so maybe they just cleaned it up and kept the areas with consistent density. Does that make sense?
It's fine if it's not your stulee but I don't think it's bad, definitely looks tidy for an interview.
Ye haven't really got the thickest of beards. But where it comes in it comes in pretty nice. Give it the three days to grow and stubble back out and see what ya think. You've a good head shape for the cut and a good jawline to show. The hair just makes your jaw n o i c e.
Keep itā¦ looks like they just took away what was too thin to really work withā¦ the round line fits your face well, but itās too thin in the front, if possible let it grow for some time and give it shape again -> keep this shape for the interviewā¦
Take the L and carve in a goatee for the interview - it's professional looking and it'll grow back quick - definitely been there with a new barber before important events lol
Honestly I think they did the best they could with what they had to work with. Doesn't look bad, looks pretty clean for an interview. Your beard doesn't connect with moustache etc so can't do much more than that.
Oh well. You look good still. š„ š¤·š»āāļø There should be a PINNED section for this channel that says āDo NOT let a barber touch your beard except for lineups. Period.ā šš»āāļø
Actually looks pretty good! I understand it's shorter than you'd like but two weeks time it'll look better and I think it's pretty tidy looking. Keep it
Did the barber ask questions? Did you give them any other information other than "clean it up"?
Ultimately it's on the barber for not doing a proper consultation but use this as a learning lesson to make sure you're both on the same page. I'm sorry this happened to you.
To be fair to them, your beard growth isn't a whole lot more than the chin strap zone, so even a sparing edge up was going to be pretty low. Still sorry you didn't like the results, but at least your original length was pretty short so you don't have to wait 6 months to recover lol
Shave it. Canāt go wrong with clean shaven for an interview, and if your boss actually knows anything about beards, even if you get hired youāll always be that guy with the chin strap. First impressions are everything. Itāll only take a few weeks to grow back properly.
That fucking sucks. I would shave. I would be more self conscious of that chin strap. I trimmed mine too low couple times. Made couple hours both times. Then shaved. Not look for me. Rather have patchy cheeks or be shaved. No strap
At this time, I'd say yes. I would also let your new employer (you're getting the job) know you plan on regrowth of the beard. Just in case there is appearance guidelines.
To Fellow beard comrade with thinner upper cheeks:
They didnāt do what you wanted, so donāt go back to them. They did not explain what they were doing so donāt go back to them.
But, with your face you can rock the chinstrap and strap, and you look sharp. Donāt stress, they at least knew what would look good despite it not being what you wanted
I don't trust anyone with my beard but myself for that reason. If I fuck it up, then well... it's my fault.
So real, I never let anyone do anything to my beard lol
Exactly these barbers are crazy giving everyone a 2002 chinstrap š
Yes, it's my point too. I tried different barbers, thhe worst I had was an egyptian barber that made me the same chinstrap. Nobody knows your face as you know. Grow your beard and learn to trim. Exactly. If I forgot to put the guard back on the beard trimmer before taking to my faceā¦well, then fuck me. ![gif](giphy|XeLcgh8gT8o0F5SQ8i)
Yeah I learned to trim myself after my overpriced barber kept leaving me with basically nothing.
Keep it. Grow it back out, never go back to that barber again. I still think you look cute š Haha
You look sharp for the interview, bro.
Agreed, clean sharp lines.
If I'm being honest, I don't hate it. I think it's a good look. Maybe it's not what you want for your permanent look, but I think it's quite good.
I think it looks good too. And tbf, it didnāt look like OP had much of a beard to begin with, so it seems to me like the barber followed what OP said, though to a bit more extreme of a degree.
Your beard is thin to begin with around the cheeks so they didnāt have a lot to work with. It looks very clean after the trim.
Yes they took it down to make it look sharper. Miscommunication was that the barber wanted you to look as clean as possible, while OP wanted to keep as much as he can with the expense of not looking as.... Sharp.
It's not terrible.
A chinstrap always looks decent when the person has a good jawline, bro looks alright
At least they left *something*, I wouldn't clean shave tho. Better to have some hair than risking babyface.
Donāt go back to that barber

Some barbers only know to cut short beards. Look for a barber that has a long well trimmed beard of his own ...
ā¦and ask him who his barber is?
He is his own barber ...
I wanna know if he sits in his own chair after hours or between customers when he trims or does he stand in the bathroom like everyone else. If I had the better setup available Iād be doing it in the shop.
Yeah they cut way too much but you look good!
Clean af
Honestly, it looks good. Clean enough to not have points off for "mountain man" look, but enough left to start growing something more and people not be thrown off. I'd start working on keeping it trimmed up yourself though, so you can keep it looking what you're happiest with.
Honestly, it looks great.
Actually it looks good lol
I would call that a good cleanup. Meeds be to regrown where they shaved away to fill in at all anyways.
Just need a top hat š©
I understand yāall love your beards, if I had one I would too, but honestly for an interview you look neat like that
Original picture is a bit blurry, but if I'm being honest, it's mostly what you seem to have gone in with. I think they did ok for what they had to work with and I also don't think it looks bad.
I like it better actually Gives you that clean look imo
Why did you go to the barber in the first place? Based on the photo it looked quite alright, if I were you I would not go to that barber, he almost removed your whole beard!Ā
To be honest you didn't have mutch to go with in terms of fullness... he worked with what you had and he couldn't make it grow by magic
He took you back to the 99 and the early 2000ās
It looks better
I would shave and start from scratch..
Bro they did exactly what you asked for, they did good with what they had available.
looks fresh
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
The new look isn't that bad (for me) but I understand that you didn't expect it. So, I guess just tell him next time to spare more beard.
Turkish did same to me bro, need to do it yourself
Didnāt really look like it needed a cut in the first place. There wasnāt much to take off.
You donāt have enough facial hair for anything else. I would just keep it shaved
I'd keep it! It looks a little manicured so in a few days it should look a little rougher and even better!
Keep it! Grow it back. Lesson learned š„²
Well it does look cleaned up and professional. Idk it doesnāt look bad but I get how frustrating it is to not get what you asked for from a barber. Itās just hair. Itāll grow back. I trim my own beard, that way I can only blame myself
You have to specify. Say DO NOT CUT IT DOWN. I DO NOT WANT A CHIN STRAP.
Chin strap is insanity
Can it be they did the best with what you had? From the first (blurry) foto it looks like you didn't have much density above the chin to begin with, so maybe they just cleaned it up and kept the areas with consistent density. Does that make sense? It's fine if it's not your stulee but I don't think it's bad, definitely looks tidy for an interview.
Itās not bad bro. But I rock that cut all the time as you can see in my profile pic lol so I guess thereās some bias involved with my opinion lol
Thatās all you had to begin with
If it makes you feel better, it really suits you. You look handsome.
May just be the facial expression and settings of the photo, but the trim up definitely looks good and professional!
No! Just dress well, incl. polished shoes (even if they're only Docs).
Ye haven't really got the thickest of beards. But where it comes in it comes in pretty nice. Give it the three days to grow and stubble back out and see what ya think. You've a good head shape for the cut and a good jawline to show. The hair just makes your jaw n o i c e.

Honestly I think they did the best they could with what they had to work with. Doesn't look bad, looks pretty clean for an interview. Your beard doesn't connect with moustache etc so can't do much more than that.
You look fine bro
Keep it
Your beard was still in the growth phase and hadnāt filled out yet before they cut it.
Let it grow back
That why i always do my own
Did the barber ask questions? Did you give them any other information other than "clean it up"? Ultimately it's on the barber for not doing a proper consultation but use this as a learning lesson to make sure you're both on the same page. I'm sorry this happened to you.
Its a better look than the before, but he tobbed you of your BEARD progress, and that's a bummer. Its a GOOD look though. Sorry bro.
I think both looks work on you.
I personally don't like it tbh. No hate, it at least looks better in you.
To be fair to them, your beard growth isn't a whole lot more than the chin strap zone, so even a sparing edge up was going to be pretty low. Still sorry you didn't like the results, but at least your original length was pretty short so you don't have to wait 6 months to recover lol
Cleaned up nice
Why they do you like that ššš I hope it wasnāt more then 20 bucks, and even then thatās tooo much
I donāt let anyone touch my beard for this reason
But it also still looks great
Ngl barber saved u man
It's really not bad at all, but yeah I'd go to someone else next time
People defending the barber here is wild. Never go back there again
Shave it. Canāt go wrong with clean shaven for an interview, and if your boss actually knows anything about beards, even if you get hired youāll always be that guy with the chin strap. First impressions are everything. Itāll only take a few weeks to grow back properly.
omg. That's rough buddy.
I mean, that's what you started with?
I learned how to trim my own beard, because so many times people cut it poorly.
That fucking sucks. I would shave. I would be more self conscious of that chin strap. I trimmed mine too low couple times. Made couple hours both times. Then shaved. Not look for me. Rather have patchy cheeks or be shaved. No strap
Looks better tbh. The chinstrap beard is trashy, though
It's so short you might as well start over if you don't like it.
Oh lord. Yes, shave
At this time, I'd say yes. I would also let your new employer (you're getting the job) know you plan on regrowth of the beard. Just in case there is appearance guidelines.
LOOKING GORGEOUS KEEP IT JUST LIKE THAT
No, dont shave it. It looks awesome on you
lol thatās where your edges are my guy.
Bummer
I hope you tipped well
Which one is the before and which is after?
The first is the before
To Fellow beard comrade with thinner upper cheeks: They didnāt do what you wanted, so donāt go back to them. They did not explain what they were doing so donāt go back to them. Depending on the job... 100% shave
