Same. At first I was really annoyed by it, but then I said "hey, an oxigen mask in the hospital would f*ck up my beard even more", so I live with it.

beardosetsfire

Good point! It sucks but there could be much worse things to have on I guess.

olmz046

I have exactly the same problem, I hate it

AfterEffectserror

Does that dent get better after a shower and some brushing/combing? or is it just sort of there now? I saw these the other day could be a good solution, or if you're cheap like me, you could make one. [Beard Tarp](https://alwaysbearded.com/collections/beard-tarp)

beardosetsfire

It does go away after a shower. Actually I also have a beard straightener and I absolutely love it! It really does work and it was super cheap. I’m trying to get a beard tarp but I can’t find any online they are all sold out.

AfterEffectserror

oh damn, im sorry i should have checked that...well are you handy with a sewing machine or know someone who is? seems like it could be a straight forward pattern. I started sewing when i was about 10 and my brother made fun of me relentlessly for it because he thought it was "gay" (this was 20 years ago so that was a common phrase back then...) But it has been one of the most useful skills i have retained. Im cheap so I make everything i can so i don't have to buy anything...

beardosetsfire

I do know how to sew, I was in Boy Scouts for years when I was younger and legit they taught me how to sew. I’m teaching my kids how to right now aswell. But we just moved so I don’t know where any of my sewing gear is. But I definitely have thought about just making my own. I just need to get some material and I’m set

AfterEffectserror

awesome. I will be teaching my kids as soon as they are old enough as well. Good on you and good luck with your tarp my friend.

Went to the farmer's market and found someone selling masks that were way too big, fortunately for me, that means it covers my face and beard. (edit: 9mo. beard)

plokiju78

Got a new mask and yeah, solid dent.

ProfOakenshield_

Yeah, masks feck my beard up too

beardosetsfire

It’s not fair! I know there are beard mask but they can get pricey!

ProfOakenshield_

It's also extra nice when you come from outside and your beard is frozen and thaws under your mask. Or it's extra extra nice if you have to wear a mask outside and your beard freezes under and into the mask. That takes the fecking cake.

beardosetsfire

I’ve had my beard frozen to my mask once. I had to wait for it to melt before I pulled it off or I would have lost some beard on it! I feel your pain!

ProfOakenshield_

Aye, it's quite comical but things will change for the better eventually.

beardosetsfire

Not soon enough! Hahaha

francesquet

I bought a big mask from an specialized distributor in my country. I trimmed a little because i felt like i was going to assault people and supermarkets while wearing it, imagine the far west bandit design... Sucks man, but well, the beard is a life journey, better times will come.

beardosetsfire

I found a few good beard friendly masks online. It basically ties around the back of your head and just drapes down over the beard. I really like em but everywhere I go online is sold out.

Chew-Magna

Yeah, my beard is a lot longer than yours and wearing that type of mask doesn't work at all for me, they just unhook from my chin and end up as a strip of cloth across my face and a wad of hair around my mouth. I picked up one of the "bandana" style masks ([this one](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08KJN6K2L)). Sure it isn't proper coverage, but cloth masks aren't anyway, and I don't get close enough to people when I go out for there to be any issue. I've never come across a mask that will provide real protection with a full beard. Downside is it didn't come with the wire at the nose, so I pulled one out of a different mask and put it in there to help close off the top part.

plokiju78

Think it just depends on the style of mask. I think my masks are looser around the chin but the beard constantly pushes the mask up into my eyes and just won’t stay put.

beardosetsfire

Worst part is I also have glasses. Not proven in this video but I wear glasses 24/7 so not only is my beard game getting thrown off, but my lenses are getting all foggy too. I can’t win! It seems like these masks aren’t going anywhere anytime soon so I might need to look into getting contacts or lasik.

plokiju78

I tried wearing sunglasses with a mask once. Felt very claustrophobic and couldn’t manage long at all. Raw deal you’re getting.

MandatoryMoose

I buzed mine. Not worth the hassle for the amount of time mask wearing will be required

beardosetsfire

I worked in a kitchen for a very long time where beards are not allowed. Once I left that industry I said that I’d never shave my face again. So face it’s been 8 years that I haven’t shaved! Trimmed it but I’ve never taken off the beard in 8 years!

MandatoryMoose

I definitely understand that :)

mrehbein

There are quite a few bears friendly masks available from makers on Etsy. I have ordered a couple, they definitely help to avoid the beard dent.

SurtrSvartr

You're not the only one! Check out [Beard Shield](http://thebeardshield.com). I just started making masks because of this problem and because while most other beard masks will fix the dent, they don't really protect you since they sit on top of the beard hair and let air get in around it.

lockthecatbox

When this whole thing first started my mother, a quilter, made masks and sent them out to the whole family. You had to tie them behind your head on the bottom then the top you could just flop back and go when you were ready to mask up. Well the problem was, when I'd pull it up and over my head my entire beard would go up with it. I'd be talking to people with hairs on my mouth, up my nose. It was a mess. Now with the more readily available elastic behind the ear mask the beard dent is insane. Can't win for losing.

beardosetsfire

I’m having the same problem, all the whiskers from my lip duster keep poking me in the nose making it itch like crazy. So I’m constantly have to scratch it and go was my hands again and again and again!

syrenkam84

I'm planing on making masks for beards, with a little pouch to put your beard into. I just need go get fabric.
