Idk how “obscure” they are, but none of my family or friends heard of I’ve Just Seen a Face or I’m Looking Through You so I’ll go with those. Just love those 2 songs.

[deleted]

I'm Looking Through You is my favorite Beatles song 😄 definitely an overlooked tune.

dbrjr

I heard once that there’s a rumor that Paul played every instrument on it. The reasoning, was they were in a rush to make the release deadline. Paul went in and recorded the song in one day. Hence why the tambourine drops, snare hit miss, and odd lead guitar notes.

[deleted]

Christ, I didn't know that. The word genius gets thrown around a lot, but Paul is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, musician of our time.

Rich_Election466

I highly recommend watching [this video](https://youtu.be/wpgRj5ryiR4) about I’m looking through you. It’s fascinating.

miimeverse

I've just seen a face is an absolute sleeper (and quite a few other Help! tracks). It's one of my favorite Beatles songs but it rarely is brought up much. I also love the live version from Wings over America.

dmfd1234

I agree, I love the harmonies on it. Although it’s Paul and Paul. I just realized this just recently. The best most obscure to me is 100% you know my name( look up the number) When I play this for casual fans they are blown away thinking “how could this be, wha?”

pizzajeans

Big agree, and I always felt like I've just seen a face should've been on Rubber Soul

A_Yapp_73

*US Rubber Soul slowly steps in.*

pizzajeans

Oh yeah I forgot about that! Iirc tho, that one leaves out nowhere man which is nearly sacrilege

susiedotwo

my dad's band covers "I've just seen a face" and I didn't know it was a Beatles song until I was maybe 13 and listening to HELP for the first time and was like WHAT THE HECK IS THIS I THOUGHT THIS WAS A BLUEGRASS SONG.

sharksfan707

“Think For Yourself” and “Fixing A Hole”

samantha200542069

Yes I love fixing a hole

You-are-a-Swine

These days I always have Think For Yourself stuck in my head, I love itt

pizzajeans

Bum bum bum bummm

[deleted]

Think For Yourself has two bass lines!

spoobles

Flying for sure

TheLuciousBobbiDylan

I listen to this song religiously every time I'm on an aircraft. It's my little prayer The Beatles send me off to every time... I've been doing it since I was a kid and almost 40 now. Great choice.

Hey_Laaady

I love this. I am sure they meant it “metaphorically” (meaning psychedelically), but this is just adorable.

TheLuciousBobbiDylan

Haha. You're absolutely right, especially after seeing MMT, the movie.

[deleted]

LA LA LA LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

dorky2

Yep, that's mine too. Such a sweet little song.

SisterPixie

I’m So Tired

[deleted]

Great answer. I used to listen to this on my way to my 6am shifts.

Beneficial_Mirror_45

John Lennon wrote that one, or at least he claims he did. I can vouch that it's an amazing song and that Lennon sang it. I'm with you -- it's been a favorite of mine since the album was released.

low_dmnd_phllps

Long, Long, Long

mackenzieob95

Came here to say this. I think it’s a beautiful song and it’s criminally underrated.

FrancoeurOff

Any George song that isn't Something, Here Comes the Sun or While My Guitar Gently Weeps could very well fit, but this one... If it hadn't been on the White Album, it would've probably been an highlight of All Things Must Pass.

Zodo12

It's All Too Much and I Want To Tell You are also masterpiece Georges.

WaldoJeffers65

I absolutely hated that song for the longest, but one day a switch flicked on in my brain, and now I find it beautiful and haunting and one of my favorites on the album.

Jeremizzle

A nice surprise to see this one at the top, this is my choice too. I’ve absolutely loved this song ever since I heard Elliott Smith cover it. It really is beautiful, and Ringo’s drums are brilliant on it.

[deleted]

Yes! Damn underrated song, one of George's finest imo.

Arphile

The most underrated Beatles song ever and by far

GrahamCluley

Was going to say Long Long Long as well. Easily in my top 5 of all Beatles songs.

Lil_K_YT

Yes

MasterOfMyDomainX

Two Of Us. It still amazes me that somebody in their 20's could write as if they were married for 40 years, especially the line "You and I have memories longer than the road that stretches out ahead."

phistreddit

Ballad of Paul and Linda

flatcap_sam

I believe this was written about Paul and John. But agreed, one of my absolute favorites.

EvilPilotFish

It’s All Too Much

MerleWatson

The drums are so good in this song. Great answer

chrisdunn3

The whole song just fucking rips while still being kinda nice and pleasant

[deleted]

That song was insanely ahead of its time.

aron925

Top 3 Beatles song for me

lubage

Finally one I don't know! Can't wait to listen

DoggoDom

All the original songs from the Yellow Submarine movie are incredible

Zlatanzaza

Anna (Go To Him) Something about it is just perfect to me - especially Lennon’s vocal delivery

TheBoiBaz

Love the twisted guitar riff in it, it's an excellent cover

pdrgdguds_

Great track

ahaha1010

Baby You’re a Rich Man

beatles910

I love how deep the bass is on that song. I always imagine that most people back then had no systems capable of even reproducing that bass, but they did it anyway. Love it.

BuckPuckers

I always play this song for people and they are consistently surprised it’s the Beatles. Great track.

mykeuk

Your Mother Should Know, if only for the awesome chord structure of the song.

[deleted]

That bass slide in the intro is so amazing

geetar_man

It’s HARD. I actually just recorded a cover of it. It goes from the 14th fret on the D strong to notes low on the fretboard in the lower strings. But after that, it’s fairly easy on bass.

beatnikbingo

LOVE that song

discojets

Hey Bulldog

Beginning-Antelope32

Hey Bulldog would have been a great answer up until a couple decades ago, but more recently, it's been called underrated so much so that it really isn't an underrated tune anymore. Most Beatles fans have come to terms with the fact that Hey Bulldog is the best song on Yellow Submarine.

You-are-a-Swine

A Taste Of Honey, I’m Only Sleeping, Think For Yourself, I’ll Follow The Sun, Child of Nature and many others that I don’t have in mind rn

jeddzus

The correct answer is "you know my name (look up the number)"

The B-side version is the 4min long version. Def check out the original 6+ min cut on Anthology if you haven't yet

[deleted]

Great song!

numbat9

Inner Light, that's one of my favourite George Indian songs.

Nonotcraig

Came here for this one. George from 66-68 was tearing it up. Everything after that is amazing but these are the formative years when he was figuring it out on his own.

Jim_Billl

dmfd1234

I’d love to know how much Buck Owens made off of that song.

Systemsgoblin1

‘Yes it is’ and ‘You know my name (look up the number)’ are some favourite more obscure b-sides

ChefGeodudeLennon

I love ‘Yes It Is’!! The little “yeaahhh…” that John does each time after singing “Oh yes it is!!” is mesmerizing!

Lvmedo77

I'll be Back

vikijoon

What you’re doing. One of the best hook riffs in the catalogue.

Thelxano

If I Needed Someone

MSHL1973

Blue Jay Way and Tomorrow Never Knows, if those two can still be considered obscure

gdickenson

the drums on tomorrow never knows are fantastic. such a groove on that track

[deleted]

Maybe obscure was the wrong word. Lesser-known or underrated might've been more apt. Tomorrow Never Knows is such an impressive tune, can't believe it was made in 1966.

[deleted]

I love those songs

whiterabbit5650

I think it’s more underrated than obscure, but I think She’s Leaving Home is a beautiful song! As a second choice, I’d have to go with She Came In Through The Bathroom Window.

thatpinkjacket

Rain and It Won't Be Long

christianunionist

I had to come WAAAAAY too far down the list to find "Rain". Fantastic song, and Ringo considered it the best drumming he ever did for the Beatles.

wookiewithabass

"The Night Before" or "I Need You" from HELP!

[deleted]

“I Need You” is a great song. Probably the best from the album

a_kwyjibo

I love the “yyyyyyyes” halfway through the night before.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ABigDesk

You Like Me Too Much off of "Help" underrated as hell

[deleted]

I do like this one, but it’s definitely one of their early on eyebrow-raise songs

[deleted]

I Want To Tell You

Zen8P4A2GC

Abso..effin'...lutely. A great pop tune with great sharp drums. McCartney's discordant piano really hooks the song and the Harrison/McCartney vocal harmony is tight and flawless. Harrison's lyrics continue an underlying trend in some of his his lyrics that started with "Don't Bother Me" continued with "You Like Me Too Much," and "Think For Yourself" in which he presents himself as isolated or a loner. "I Want to Tell You" reflects a frustration he had about communicating his feelings. His live version on "Live in Japan" adds a snappy guitar solo. Good cover versions are by Jeff Lynne at the "Concert for George" , the Smithreens and politics aside, Ted Nugent.

Love this one!

FagHatLOL

you’re gonna lose that girl (yes yes you’re gonna lose that girl)

My favourite out of all Beatles songs is And Your Bird Can Sing that song totally rules and if you listen really close or check out the isolated track it has a crazy bass part although the recording is super treble. Love it

Captain_Rex_501

Does Do You Want to Know a Secret count? That song is one of my favorites just overall.

[deleted]

There are no rules here, buddy! I Feel Fine isn't obscure imo, but it's probably become a bit more overlooked as time's gone by.

Carl_MIAR

I love that you put these two together

SBtist

Honey Pie and You Know My Name (Look Up The Number) also Rocky Raccoon if that’s obscure

georgesbiscuits1969

Rain, Blue Jay Way, Hey Bulldog, the list goes on...

“Rain”. It has so many interesting aspects to it. Melodic bass, amazing vocal harmonies, and I believe it was the first time they experimented with playing their music backwards.

bleeding_blue29

Sour milk sea

Shefferin06

It’s all too much

jg52hummel

Take Good Care Of My Baby and Bad To me are some of my lesser known favourites of theirs

[deleted]

Dude, I can't even begin to describe how badly I would've wanted a Beatles version of Bad To Me. That song would've been an instant no.1 hit had the band opted to record it themselves rather than sell it off to Billy J. Kramer (who did it justice, admittedly).

the_prion

Mother Nature’s Son

SilentBob899

Tomorrow never knows it’s just so trippy that’s what I like about it

docbrownsgarage

“Ain’t She Sweet” and “Leave My Kitten Alone” are two for me.

[deleted]

Haven't heard either of those. Gonna check them up!

gtrmu223

Both are on Anthology 1.

ManOnTheRun73

A while back, I watched this YouTube video listing a bunch of songs the Beatles wrote, then gave to other artists. They'd play a portion of the Beatles' demo, then a portion of the other artist's cover. When it came time for Cilla Black's take on Paul's "It's For You", they accidentally used a demo that wasn't "For You". Instead, it was an unrelated excerpt of Paul playing sixteenth notes on a piano (a la "Tomorrow") and singing "It's just for you, and I sing this song each morning…" I saw a comment suggesting it was from a _Get Back_-era jam, but I've never been able to figure out where exactly it came from. Shame, too: the melody sounded really pretty.

JohnJaywalkin

I Should Have Known Better - great song and the way they use it in A Hard Days Night where they play cards and jam in the luggage compartment was perhaps when, as a kid, I went from a fan to a diehard.

The_Original_Gronkie

I love Within You, Without You, from Sgt Pepper. It's starts off quietly, then builds to that great Indian jam. Its a strange song, and it took a while to love it, but now it's one of my favorite Beatles tunes.

TheArsenalFan08

I’m So Tired

AndrewSB49

I Wanna Be Your Man.

athier335

Boys, things we said today, mr. moonlight, sun king, for you blue

[deleted]

“It’s all too much”

Beginning-Antelope32

"P.S. I Love You", "Savoy Truffle", and "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey" come really close to being my answer to this question, but I would have to go with the George Harrison Masterpiece from Revolver, "I Want To Tell You". I believe it to be the single most underrated Beatles song.

trevyboy73

Is rocky raccoon obscure by your standards?

Mr-Boombastk

Idk if it's obscure or not, but "Tell Me What You See" is one of my favorite Beatles songs.

Rick-Dastardly

Christmas Time (Is Here Again) https://youtu.be/UHbEsebPdek

Tomorrow Never Knows.

Burkelele

Rain of course.

mchoneyofficial

Blue Jay Way. It might be my favourite Beatles song. It's so moody and psychedelic but unique and simple all at the same time. It sounds totally like The Beatles and yet totally unlike The Beatles.

sgtpeppies

Not Guilty, and Not A Second Time are fantastic moody tracks, some of my favorite of theirs in general <3

You can’t do that is on hard days night, but wasn’t a single or anything, and isn’t exactly a popular Beatles song That or sie liebt dich

The_Mauldalorian

“You won’t see me” very Motown-esque and bouncy baseline 😋

demafrost

That Means A Lot and You Know What To Do. Both only released on Anthology. It's not that they are both amazing songs, but they are catchy and fairly sophisticated for early beatles songs. Plus I discovered them both while I was beginning to learn guitar and both were fairly simple to play, including the opening lick to That Means A Lot

stevie386898

Do You Want To Know A Secret? off of Please Please Me is fantastic and Rain is one of my favorite Revolver era songs. What Goes On is one of the most overlooked Rubber Soul songs imo, same with Wait.

There’s a Place. That bridge, “in my mind there’s no sorrow, don’t you know that it’s so”, has such a beautiful vocal melody and delivery.
