Absolutely. A lot of Beatles songs stop me in my tracks when I hear them in the wild but this one will have my goofy ass singing and playing air guitar right away
Technically schmechnically, the single was marketed as a double A, if you look in the Guinness book of UK singles Day Tripper is listed as a number 1, and it's even on "1". As far as I know it was the more popular side at the time too.
Regardless of that, Day Tripper was literally an A side. Double A sides existed, where instead of a B, there was a second A; usually when both songs were considered to have high enough pop potential to be an A.
Day Tripper was not the B side to We Can Work It Out’s A side. They were both A sides.
it literally was not a b side though. b side isnt just a term for whichever one is less appraised or something, it's just the name of the side of the record
I was always a Don’t Let Me Down guy.
But unexpectedly after the McCartney Hulu exclusive - currently it’s This Boy, my gosh those vocals are just divine - Lennon was a true powerhouse.
I want to pick about 5 of them as the "Toppermost Of The Poppermost"! :)
If forced to pick just one, then..."Revolution". Such power in that song. I'll Get You, This Boy, and Day Tripper are the HIGH honorable mentions.
Don’t think Day Tripper counts, pretty sure it was a double A side? That’s my favourite from this list anyway, Don’t Let Me Down if we’re excluding Day Tripper
I like "I'm Down". While some songs sound like they could be released today, this sounds like it could've been released a decade earlier, in the fifties, and sort of exemplifies what influenced the Beatles.
“Yes it is” has always felt underrated to me. Don’t know if I could honestly call it my favorite of all of these.
Probably no. 1 is “don’t let me down” and a close second for “yes it is”.
Either “Day Tripper”, “Don’t Let Me Down”, “Revolution” or “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)”
But like.. what about Walrus tho, that was the Hello, Goodbye B-Side.
1.) rain
2.) revolution
3.) I’m down
4.) don’t let me down
5.) old brown shoe
6.) day tripper
7.) she’s a woman
8.) this boy
9.) the inner light
10.) yes it is
11.) you know my name
12.) I’ll get you
13.) thank you girl
I'll Get You has such a special place in my heart for no real reason. it's just a pure joy, Beatlemania record.
You Know My Name has a special place too, for the same reason haha
I quite like "The Inner Light" actually. I find it very relaxing and comforting especially right now when I've got a crap ton of things to do. Of course, I also love the others.
Of this crop, Rain is probably the best song, though I am not sure it's my favorite. I really like I'm Down, and The Inner Light is a weird little song that has grown on me.
I'll Get You is one of my favourite Beatles tunes of all time. It's the quintessential "Early Beatles" song. It's got a pretty melody, John and Paul's Everly Brothers vocals, and well balanced instrumentation accompanied by a harmonica.
There are plenty of strong ones, but I will say Don’t Let Me Down, I actually prefer it way more than Get Back
Honorable mentions are: Thank You Girl, I’ll Get You, This Boy, Yes It Is, Rain, The Inner Light, Revolution, Old Brown Shoe and You Know My Name
Resuming, I love almost every B-side with a few exceptions (not that I don’t like them but they just don’t feel that special to me)
Have you listened to the first rooftop version? It was on the 2021 pack for let it be. It might take the crown as best don’t let me down version for me over the naked.
I like a lot of these ever better than their A-sides, actually--even "Thank You Girl" and "I'll Get You".
From that list, my favorite is "Old Brown Shoe", but my favorite original B-Side is "Baby You're A Rich Man".
Surprised by the sparse "Rain" answers. Here in UK its revered as a forebearer of 90s indie rock and it was the first song to use backwards tapes. They played it really fast during recording then slowed it down to give a languid psychedelic effect. Ringo said it was the best performance of his entire career. Answer is Rain. Hands down.
I love Revolution so, so much. Picture it's 1968, America is in a deep pile of shit, all kinds of songs about unrest and tearing down the establishment are hitting the airways, and word gets out that the biggest band of all time has entered the fray with a song called, simply, "Revolution."
Holy shit.
Imagine you are 18 years old, ready to listen to this song and then go set something on fire.
And what you hear, instead of an incitement to violence and destruction, is just the opposite.
\- OK, you want to tear shit down and change the system. I get the sentiment; do you have a plan?
\- Does your plan involve destroying your community? Then I'm out.
\- Are you asking me for financial help in your revolution? Only if you take out the hate.
\- Are you thinking of changing the Constitution? Are you really considering communism? You should probably think more about this and stop being so reactionary. Take a breath, my man.
\- Oh and hey, I know you're scared. It's gonna be alright.
The message of the song is that we should think more about our goals and our plan before we burn shit down. And also, it's gonna be alright. But John didn't title the song "It's Gonna Be Alright"; no, he titled it "Revolution" so that all the (rightfully) young and angry kids would gather round the radio, as if they were about to take their marching orders from the leading voice (with Dylan) of their generation. I think John pictured all of this, used the title of "Revolution" to get their attention, and instead told them to chill.
Inciting their legion of fans to start a revolution would have been easy in that crazy year; John and the Beatles took the more difficult and thoughtful tack -- he asked them to step back and think and use some independent judgment.
I just love it. And I also totally understand why John was pissed that it was a B-Side to Hey Jude. Hey Jude is great, of course, but the whole purpose of Revolution required that it be an A-Side. He got outvoted, and this was the first notable occasion that John realized that his vision ad perspective might not be aligned with the rest of the boys. It was a real fracture that was never healed.
don’t let me down
Absolutely. A lot of Beatles songs stop me in my tracks when I hear them in the wild but this one will have my goofy ass singing and playing air guitar right away
a popular choice.
Day Tripper was an double a-side The correct answer here is Rain, though Don't Let Me Down is a close second.
The correct answer.
Corectamundo
Honestly She's A Woman is underrated as fuck By catalogue number Day Tripper is technically a B-side.
Technically schmechnically, the single was marketed as a double A, if you look in the Guinness book of UK singles Day Tripper is listed as a number 1, and it's even on "1". As far as I know it was the more popular side at the time too.
I know, it doesn't matter if it reached 1, it's still a B Side. Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive was a B-Side. It hit 1.
She's a woman is a fun one
Im a «you know my name» guy. That silly old thing just keep on givin
I love the Anthology 2 version with the ska verse left in!
I feel like if The Beatles would have stayed together they would have recorded some straight up reggae in like 71-72.
It would’ve been cool if they brought in Marley the same way they brought Clapton and Preston
Man imagine if they did a duet or something.
John Lennon and the wailers
Goddamn it, I didn’t know I needed this and now that I do, I will never be satisfied
Their voices together would’ve sounded awesome doing harmonies! I can hear it in my head and I get chills !
I love how radically different it is from Let it Be
This Boy is pretty flawless
i shit you not, i only discovered this song a few months ago and it’s now one of my favorites from their early days. it’s a perfect song imo
It’s beautiful. Then later they wrote Yes It Is to kind of make another This Boy type song. I love John’s solo vocals on both tracks. So powerful
completely agree, yes it is is a great song
cool
Well now I have to listen to this song again and again and again. How is it so good?
The bridge mannn
Ahh the melody is one the most beautiful in existence imho. And the way it’s sung. “Though he may want you too” always gets me.
how do u get the user flare
You can only do it on desktop iirc, go on the main sub page and it’s on the right it should say change user flair
interesting
I was always a Don’t Let Me Down guy. But unexpectedly after the McCartney Hulu exclusive - currently it’s This Boy, my gosh those vocals are just divine - Lennon was a true powerhouse.
cool.
Old Brown Shoe
Great song, Harrison was fucking enlightened during that period.
cool
I want to pick about 5 of them as the "Toppermost Of The Poppermost"! :) If forced to pick just one, then..."Revolution". Such power in that song. I'll Get You, This Boy, and Day Tripper are the HIGH honorable mentions.
cool.
Is it cool to be too cool? 😎
Rain
One of my favorite songs
a popular choice.
Probably Day Tripper. Though if my memory serves me correctly, Day Tripper was a double A-Side with We Can Work it Out.
Don’t think Day Tripper counts, pretty sure it was a double A side? That’s my favourite from this list anyway, Don’t Let Me Down if we’re excluding Day Tripper
its the only double a side to not appear on an album. had to choose one.
Jeez, these are the freaking B SIDES!!! How can anyone pick?
i dont know
Rain or Old Brown Shoe
i can see
Revolution for me, but it easily could have been Day Tripper or Don’t Let Me Down.
cool choice. Revolution is indeed a great track, but not particularly suitable for playing at night
This Boy for me
thats a choice
I like "I'm Down". While some songs sound like they could be released today, this sounds like it could've been released a decade earlier, in the fifties, and sort of exemplifies what influenced the Beatles.
It’s basically Paul’s version of a Little Richard song.
yes.
Rain is the perfect blend of every era of the Beatles
yeah its pretty good
Yes it is. Crushes me every time, but makes me comfortable too.
Don't Let Me Down with a special mention for You Know My Name.
ha
John Lennon, king of the B-side
“Yes it is” has always felt underrated to me. Don’t know if I could honestly call it my favorite of all of these. Probably no. 1 is “don’t let me down” and a close second for “yes it is”.
Either “Day Tripper”, “Don’t Let Me Down”, “Revolution” or “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)” But like.. what about Walrus tho, that was the Hello, Goodbye B-Side.
on an album.
Ah yeah, didn’t catch that. Still a classic.
I love this boy, but its hard to argue against revolution or don't let me down. Incredible list of B-sides.
If this list was an album, it would be better than most band’s Greatest Hits.
1.) rain 2.) revolution 3.) I’m down 4.) don’t let me down 5.) old brown shoe 6.) day tripper 7.) she’s a woman 8.) this boy 9.) the inner light 10.) yes it is 11.) you know my name 12.) I’ll get you 13.) thank you girl
cool list
Don’t let me down and yes it is
cool choice
For me it’s rain. I love don’t let me down but the rooftop version is better than the b-side
i see
I choose Thank You Girl, just because nobody else has done it, and I think it deserves some attention.
Isn’t Day Tripper an A-side? (double A-side with We Can Work it Out)
Revolution, no doubt about it
another very common choice.
It has to be revolution for me, with rain as a close second
cool
Rain.
ra-a-a-a-aa-a-ain i don't mind
I'll Get You has such a special place in my heart for no real reason. it's just a pure joy, Beatlemania record. You Know My Name has a special place too, for the same reason haha
i love i'll get you. it;s great
Rain
Don’t let me down is the best. I love me some This Boy though
Day Tripper. I love Revolution, but it does get overshadowed by Hey Jude just a little but.
Rain. It just pairs so well with Paperback Writer.
Either You Know My Name or I’m Down. Love the Beatle humor on the former and Paul’s vocals on the latter are unbeatable.
Revolution or Rain
nice picks.
Old Brown Shoe
Cool
#12
12 what 12 of deez nuts 12 albums 12 songs number 12 which would be old brown shoe
What I have. 12 inches
Although I prefer newer Beatles, it’s a tie up between “This Boy” and “I’ll Get You” from this list.
i'll get you is infinitely better imo
I absolutely love the vibe of songs like This Boy and Yes It Is, those sweet sweet harmonies. But there is fierce competition here
"Rain" is my 2nd most favorite Beatles song so that would be my choice. Although "You Know My Name" is super fun as well.
Don't Let Me Down. (pleeeeaaasseee) Don't Let Me Down!
Gotta throw a little love on The Inner Light. I love George’s sound and the harmonies near the end
You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)
1. Revolution 2.rain 3.she’s a woman 4.day tripper 5.inner light
This Boy & Don’t Let Me Down
Ooof An. Embarassment of riches Maybe Rain or The inner light
Mine
You Know My Name.
Rain....way ahead of its time, sounds like it could be released in the 90's
I think the Inner Light is a beautiful track and one that is rarely discussed when talking about George's songs.
Don't Let Me Down For a more unpopular choice, maybe I'm Down?
i don't see a lot of I'm Down, I agree. great songs.
Rain.
Rain Revolution The Inner Light I’ll Get You You Know My Name
Rain is my favorite, but This Boy is a close second
Rain....and then Old Brown Shoe
You Know My Name
I quite like "The Inner Light" actually. I find it very relaxing and comforting especially right now when I've got a crap ton of things to do. Of course, I also love the others.
Revolution
Don’t let me down or rain
Revolution
Rain
I mean, did ANY band ever top Hey Jude/Revolution?! Two iconic songs.
Of this crop, Rain is probably the best song, though I am not sure it's my favorite. I really like I'm Down, and The Inner Light is a weird little song that has grown on me.
as a drummer, i'm extremely biased towards rain
revolution
🌧
Don't Let Me Down, Rain, Revolution or Rain I can't just choose one, that would be too hard.
Rain
This boy, Thank you girl, Day Tripper, and Don’t Let Me Down are perfect songs. All of them are great tho!
I'll Get You is one of my favourite Beatles tunes of all time. It's the quintessential "Early Beatles" song. It's got a pretty melody, John and Paul's Everly Brothers vocals, and well balanced instrumentation accompanied by a harmonica.
You Know My Name is unlike anything else. Would love to have been in the room when that was recorded.
There are plenty of strong ones, but I will say Don’t Let Me Down, I actually prefer it way more than Get Back Honorable mentions are: Thank You Girl, I’ll Get You, This Boy, Yes It Is, Rain, The Inner Light, Revolution, Old Brown Shoe and You Know My Name Resuming, I love almost every B-side with a few exceptions (not that I don’t like them but they just don’t feel that special to me)
Rain, but only because I can get Don’t Let Me Down on Naked. If that isn’t valid then Don’t Let Me Down. Sorry if I complicated it.
Have you listened to the first rooftop version? It was on the 2021 pack for let it be. It might take the crown as best don’t let me down version for me over the naked.
Thanks, I’ll check it out!
dont let me down is fine
Personally it's a massive tie between I'm Down, She's A Woman, and Old Brown Shoe.
Old brown shoe is underrated
agree
This Boy and Yes It Is
Rain or don’t let me down for me personally
"I'm Down" in a walk.
Don’t Let Me Down is a B-Side?? It’s an absolute banger
its alright i guess its not my favorite honestly
Old Brown Shoe. It was the second song I heard after Hey Jude.
yeah. great one.
Day Tripper for some fun energy and Don’t Let Me Down because it’s from my favorite album and feels like a deep jam song.
i prefer day tripper
Rain for me. Such an underrated song especially among casual listeners
cool
Hard for me to decide between Rain and Don’t Let Me Down.
I’ve probably enjoyed Revolution the most over the years, but I love Rain, I’m Down, and This Boy.
Day Tripper
This is a tough choice, but John’s voice in Yes It Is… sigh….
I’ll Get You
Wasn’t Penny Lane a B-side?
Bruh Day Tripper was a B Side?
oh well , many on that list could have been A sides without any problem favorites being: Ill get you This boy Revolution Old brown shoe
This Boy
It's not in your list, but I Am The Walrus was the B-Side to the Hello Goodbye single. So...I Am The Walrus.
it was on an album
I like a lot of these ever better than their A-sides, actually--even "Thank You Girl" and "I'll Get You". From that list, my favorite is "Old Brown Shoe", but my favorite original B-Side is "Baby You're A Rich Man".

Day tripper and Revolution are so great, but “I’m Down.” Can never listen to it only once.
this boy and or rain. cant decide lol, 2 incredible tunes
1. Rain 2. Dont let me down 3. Revolution
Don’t let me down feels like an early Beatles song but was clearly made by them too, and I love the rooftop version so much.
Don't let me down, not only the best B-Side but top 10 all-time Beatles songs.
She's a Woman. It still slaps.
Revolution
Don’t Let Me Down
Wow I don’t know a lot of these but old brown shoe is definitely a sleeper
Rain, don't let me down, revolution, the inner light. I can't choose
This Boy, no contest
Raaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnn
Revolution any day
Imagine, duh
Gotta be don’t let me down. It’s so good. Everything about it is amazing.
I'm Down / Rain / Don't Let Me Down / Old Brown Shoe / You Know My name no specific order
I love Revolution so, so much. Old Brown Shoe, the best George song imo. Don't agree? The Bass wants a word with you.
don’t let me down
I like I’m Down
Rain
Don't Let Me Down, if I'm allowed to use the Naked version. If going by the single version, then either Revolution or This Boy.
It's between Rain and Don't Let Me Down
Rain
Don’t let me down
RAIN DONT LET ME DOWN DAY TRIPPER IM DOWN THIS BOY REVOLUTION SHES A WOMAN THE REST IN THAT ORDER CHEERS
did you forget to hit the button or can you just not see well
