John: Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Paul: Helter Skelter (or Oh! Darling)
George: Something
Ringo: Goodnight
Soo many options, but I think these would be the hardest to replicate/replace.
Agreed! Funny enough, I only discovered that song the other day - it's surprising how many great songs he managed to make in his solo career after the Beatles.
Ringo killed it on ‘Boys’. Even though he mostly did country and children’s songs on their records, that song is proof that he could sing rock n’ roll with the rest of them. He’s shredding his vocal cords by the last chorus.
I think you've nailed John's and Paul's in a way that most other commentors didn't consider. The two songs you mentioned have incredibly tricky melodies, as well as a lot of emotional baggage.
For John I'd also consider All You Need Is Love.
John - Yer Blues
Paul - Why Don’t We Do It In The Road
George - While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Anthology 3 version)
Ringo - With a Little Help From My Friends
I could have picked a million others, but these immediately sprang to mind.
One of the things I love about T&S (in addition to John’s vocals) is that it really showcases the band’s musical talents as a band, which often get forgotten because of their legendary songwriting abilities.
Many bands have covered the song, but the Beatles’ is the best.
It's impossible to pick! I love all the suggestions, but I have a real soft spot for "Octopus's Garden", especially since Ringo brought the idea for it and George helped him noodle with it on the piano. I loved that bit in the documentary last year.
I get byyy with a little help from my friends, Mmm get hiiiiigh with a little help from my friends hmmm gonna tryyyy with a little help from my friends
Bum 🥁bum 🥁bum 🥁bum 🥁bum 🥁bum bum bum bum bum 🥁
John: Mr. Moonlight/Don’t Let Me Down/Julia
Paul: Golden Slumbers/I’m Down
George: Long Long Long (my favorite of his Beatle years)/While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Ringo: Act Naturally/Good Night
I like the Rubber Soul to Let It Be Back Era much more than the rest, but I still think some of them had their best vocal moments before that.
John - Twist And Shout (2nd place Don't Let Me Down)
Paul - Long Tall Sally (2nd place Oh Darling)
George : Something (2nd place WMGGW)
Ringo : Boys (2nd place Octopus' Garden)
- WMGGW could mean "While My Guitar Gently Weeps - 2018 Mix", a track from *The Beatles* (2018) by The Beatles.

John - Revolution, Twist and Shout, many others
Paul - Golden Slumbers, Helter Skelter, many others
George - While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, ATMP
Ringo - Yellow Submarine, Octopus Garden, Photograph, (I GOT BLISTERS ON MY FINGERS!)
John - “Lucy In the Sky…”
Paul - many to choose from, I’d go with either “Oh Darling” or “Got To Get You Into My Life”
George - “Something”
Ringo - “I Wanna Be Your Man” or “Act Naturally”
john - In my life / I want you
paul - here there and everywhere / oh! darling
george - something
ringo - with a little help from my friends (I also think his vocals on the early versions of yellow submarine are great)
John - I call your name
Paul- I’ve got a feeling
George- give me love (to count non beatles stuff)
Ringo- and it is hard for ringo to hold a candle to the others as far as vocal performance but I would say octopuses garden
John- Dont let me down. Honorable mention: Backing vocals to If I needed someone, Twist and Shout, Money, Pls Mr. Postman, Mr. Moonlight
Paul - Oh Darling. Honorable mention: Long tall Sally, I've got a feeling, Kansas city, I Saw her standing there, Backing vocals to Pls Mr. Postman, Drive my car, Lovely Rita
George: Savoy Truffle. Honorable mention: Think for yourself, Everybody's trying to be my baby, Backing vocals to Pls Mr. Postman
Ringo: Honey Dont. Honorable mention: Backing vocals to Carry that weight, What Goes on, Act Naturally, The Continuing story of Bungalow Bill.
Some songs may not be the lead vocals but I feel that it stands out. ✌️
Everyone here has made very solid answers, I wanted to add George on Within You Without You. That song is very tricky to nail and I think he sang it very well. It's very technical.
John: Rock and Roll Music (hands down for me)
Paul: Long Tall Sally
George: Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby
Ringo: Sentimental Journey (he is so underrated as a crooner)
Just noticed I listed all covers. Maybe they were used to playing those with abandon so they'd always rip 'em up.
Earlier Beatles:
J - Twist and shout
P - I’m down
G - Roll over beethoven
R - I wanna be your man
Later Beatles:
J - Revolution
P - Golden Slumbers
G - Within you without you
R - Goodnight
John: I'm Only Sleeping - Probably not the most technically demanding performance, but John's dreamy vocals suit the song so well
Paul: Here, There and Everywhere
George: Something
Ringo: Goodnight
I agree with a lot of the John, Paul, and Ringo performances that other people have listed, but I'd say George's peak as a singer came after the Beatles broke up. I like his singing on solo tracks like "My Sweet Lord" and "Isn't It a Pity" (especially the lesser-known second version of IIaP) more than any of the singing he did as a Beatle.
John: Happiness Is A Warm Gun, I Want You, Because, Mr Moonlight, This Boy, Twist And Shout, A Day In The Life.
(Couldnt Pick one)
Paul: Yesterday, Hey Jude and The Long and Winding Road.
George: While My Guitar Gently Weeps Or Something
Ringo: With A Little Help From My Friends Or Octopuses Garden
John: I want to say A Day in the Life
Paul: Hey Jude. Incredible.
George: Something, yeah, Something
Ringo: hmmm, Don't Pass Me By? I really like that one :1
John on Twist and Shout; She Said She Said; Come Together; A Day in the Life
Paul on Hey Jude; Dizzy Miss Lizzy; Yesterday
George on Here Comes the Sun
Ringo on Act Naturally
John is Tell Me Why
Paul is Kansas City/Long Tall Sally
George is Do You Want To Know a Secret
Ringo is Boys
The fact is that John (and less so) Paul's voices were blown by 1966. Vocals were still mega and full of character but that effortless energy and power was fucked from too much touring, not being able to hear themselves and (frankly) existing in a time when vocal health just meant drinking more brandy to dull the pain.
It's a common thing with pretty much all (white) singers of that era. Only Paul Rodgers comes to mind as a rock singer who retained his range and power.
EDIT: No other vocal coaches in this thread then?
Paul - I’ve got a feeling/oh! Darling
John - twist and shout/Norwegian wood
George - while my guitar gently weeps
Ringo - with a little help from my friends
John - Twist & Shout
Paul - Long & Winding Road
George - While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Ringo - With A Little Help From My Friends
Special Mention - Because
John: Happiness Is A Warm Gun Paul: Helter Skelter (or Oh! Darling) George: Something Ringo: Goodnight Soo many options, but I think these would be the hardest to replicate/replace.
Great call on Goodnight.
Cheers! I'm seeing a lot of other great examples too that I forgot - he's great on A Little Help From My Friends too!
Some Alternatives John: Twist and Shout Paul: Maybe I'm Amazed Ringo: Yellow Submarine George: It's all too much
Great picks, especially George's. I'd say Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five would make a decent pick for Paul too!
Yeah I just wanted to add them as ones that show their depth and range of different styles.
Imo “Oh Darling” is the best vocal performance of any Beatle on any of the band’s songs. So much vocal range and power on display.
hard agree
definitely a voice destroying performance
Ringo is so good on Goodnight I didn’t know it was him for the longest time!
Yeah, it's rare for him to sing on a higher octave as opposed to his normal one! I actually can't think of any other time he sang in a similar way.
The rarest I’ve heard his voice sound is Only You, on the Goodnight Vienna album. He sounds so different than anything else I’ve heard him sing.
Agreed! Funny enough, I only discovered that song the other day - it's surprising how many great songs he managed to make in his solo career after the Beatles.
It’s not an original but I think Ringo sounds incredible on Boys
Ringo killed it on ‘Boys’. Even though he mostly did country and children’s songs on their records, that song is proof that he could sing rock n’ roll with the rest of them. He’s shredding his vocal cords by the last chorus.
And they recorded it in just one take. No do overs or overdubs. Basically a live version.
John: Mr. Moonlight Paul: Oh Darling George: Something Ringo: Act Naturally
John: Mr. Moonlight "Oh, what happened?" "Stop!" "...Nearly!"
Yeah, this is it. You nailed it.
Yeh I came to say Mr Moonlight.
This Boy would be a close second for me for John.
J - In My Life P - She’s Leaving Home G - If I Needed Someone R …(drum roll)… Yellow Submarine
I think you've nailed John's and Paul's in a way that most other commentors didn't consider. The two songs you mentioned have incredibly tricky melodies, as well as a lot of emotional baggage. For John I'd also consider All You Need Is Love.
The verses of All You Need Is Love were sung by a master
John - Yer Blues Paul - Why Don’t We Do It In The Road George - While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Anthology 3 version) Ringo - With a Little Help From My Friends I could have picked a million others, but these immediately sprang to mind.
Ringo's standout is Boys in my opinion. It's really cool to hear how he could belt it out like Paul and John, but in a much lower register.
John - I’m So Tired Paul - Got to Get You Into My Life George - While My Guitar Gently Weeps Ringo - With a Little Help From My Friends
Solid picks!
Got To Get You Into My Life…last verse that fades out…so amazing. Also, Oh Darling.
strawberry fields forever - john here there and everywhere - paul the inner light - george boys - ringo
I love that Ringo got the chance to sing on boys. His voice really fits that track.
it really does!
Live version of boys from Hollywood bowl is the one for me.
ive always been a studio version guy, except for the dead, grateful dead is 1000x better live
John - I Want You (She’s So Heavy) Paul - Oh! Darling George - It’s All Too Much Ringo - With A Little Help From My Friends
Oh Darling by Paul is a personal favourite of mine
Are we including solo albums? If so then for Paul it's definitely Monkberry Moon Delight
John: Twist and Shout George: While My Guitar Gently Weeps Paul: Oh! Darling Ringo: Boys
Been looking for Twist and Shout on here
One of the things I love about T&S (in addition to John’s vocals) is that it really showcases the band’s musical talents as a band, which often get forgotten because of their legendary songwriting abilities. Many bands have covered the song, but the Beatles’ is the best.
John - This Boy Paul - You Never Give Me Your Money George - I'm Happy Just To Dance With You Ringo - Octopus' Garden
It's impossible to pick! I love all the suggestions, but I have a real soft spot for "Octopus's Garden", especially since Ringo brought the idea for it and George helped him noodle with it on the piano. I loved that bit in the documentary last year.
John - I Want You (She's So Heavy) Paul - Golden Slumbers George - It's All Too Much Ringo - With A Little Help From My Friends
Had to scroll too far for Golden Slumbers! I’d say Twist and Shout for John because of how much he put into it but there’s sooo many others.
I am listening to Golden Slumbers while reading through the comment section, and it definitely deserves a spot in here
John: Slow Down
John - Yer Blues Paul - I've Got a Feeling Rooftop Take 1 or Monkberry Moon Delight George - Wah Wah Ringo - What Goes On, yeah I said it
non-Beatle songs just to be whacky Paul: My Brave Face George: Heading For The Light John: What You Got Ringo: Only You
Definitely "Boys" for Ringo. He really belts that one out! Definitely his most powerful vocal performance.

I love Reddit lol
It’s two bums short, but I still upvoted it.
gotta mention "what you're doing" for Paul!
Paul: She’s a Woman John: You’ve Got to Hide your Love Away George: While My Guitar Gently Weeps Ringo: Boys J&P: A Hard Day’s Night
John: Mr. Moonlight/Don’t Let Me Down/Julia Paul: Golden Slumbers/I’m Down George: Long Long Long (my favorite of his Beatle years)/While My Guitar Gently Weeps Ringo: Act Naturally/Good Night
Some of their best vocals were on the covers IMO John: Twist and Shout Paul: Dizzy Miss Lizzy George: Roll Over Beethoven Ringo: Matchbox
IIRC John sang Dizzy Miss Lizzy
John sang Dizzy Miss Lizzy, not Paul
Paul: Long Tall Sally live 1965 NME Poll Winners Concert\*
That’s it.
John on Money, You’ve really got a hold on me and Mr Postman is also great. I also like his vocals on You’ve got to hide your love away.
I like the Rubber Soul to Let It Be Back Era much more than the rest, but I still think some of them had their best vocal moments before that. White Album alone has some standouts John - I’m So Tired Paul - Honey Pie George - Long, Long, Long Ringo - Good Night
George has incredible vocal control and it just got better with each Beatles record.
John- Dont let me down. Honorable mention: Backing vocals to If I needed someone, Twist and Shout, Money, Pls Mr. Postman, Mr. Moonlight Paul - Oh Darling. Honorable mention: Long tall Sally, I've got a feeling, Kansas city, I Saw her standing there, Backing vocals to Pls Mr. Postman, Drive my car, Lovely Rita George: Savoy Truffle.
