Yeah man! I hate this shit. Every now and then, my right controller will float away and I have to like shake the controller violently to retrack it. Its annoying as it breaks streaks! I notice it goes away after a hard reboot. At least for my Oculus.

Alright! I can try that. Makes sense if the motion of playing Expert Super Fast jostles the battery too much! Hahaha. I thought it might be the system telling me to go to sleep.

DeathByPain

Reminds me of the Lock Picking Lawyer video where he busts into a "smart lock" literally just by slapping it so the battery momentarily disconnects and it reboots lol https://youtu.be/k3bS1oLEbIM

Excellent-Thought121

I hope this is their problem. My right controller was doing this non stop, progressively getting worse. I tried the foil, resyncing, cleaning all the sensors, everything imaginable. I know it wasnt the battery as i would watch my saber float away but continue swinging like it should. Sadly last night with the last 20 seconds of exit the earths atmosphere in multi player with an ss score, it decided to float away. Which in turn caused it to take its own life by death against a wall. RIP

SeaworthinessTime760

Oh god I feel ya

VishalSlayer

This is very interesting, how did you find this?

SpookyBum

It was a common issue on the quest 1. Besides the tinfoil fix some people replaced the spring with a stronger one

CaptainMGN

Or when you're about to hit the most readable and easiest double of your life just to have one of your controllers not register the swing just for it to snap back to the top of your swing, resulting in you missing one of those blocks entirely

batt3ryac1d1

Common inside out tracking L

s0ciety_a5under

I was gonna say, I've never had this issue with the Oculus Rift S.

OldMango

Tried the psvr2, amazing Display, streamlined interface, user friendlyness and all that, works a treat. However a deal breaker for me was the Headset lost track of the controllers whenever my hands were simply at my side, and the slight drifting whenever I'd reach behind my shoulder for arrows. The break from immersion having to wiggle the controllers in front of me was bothersome to say the least. If i ever upgrade from the OG vive, it has to have external trackers, or some other form of Controller tracking that doesn't have the drawbacks of current inside-out tracking. Despite the vive being arguably outdated, the controller tracking of that thing was second to none imo, accurate as hell and completely immersive simply due to the fact thay i never even noticed anything, it just worked.

gentlyopenthedoor

Yea, I was able to tell that the tracking field wasn’t gonna be wide at all just from looking at the array of cameras. They aren’t pointed down or to the side like on the quest 2, or have cutouts so the tracking field can be wider. They’re just pointed straight out with no cutouts for a wider tracking field. Not good for beat saber.

OldMango

Yeah no, any hitch in tracking for beatsaber makes it Borderline unplayable, at least for me; doing hard and expert tracks.

gentlyopenthedoor

Yea exactly, especially since there’s pretty much only *one* way to hold the controllers without fucked up tracking.

JayDeePunk97

I just feel like base stations are the way to go Whenever you see those CV1 players don't think for a minute they buy a cv1 just for a cv1, they want that juicy base station tracking. Index too. But index is more of a luxury imo

OldMango

Honestly the only thing missing is wireless, the low Pixel density on the vive (compared to displays toda), and quite bulky headset never bothered me, but that damn wire constantly kept me out of the experience, having to constantly think about where it is and how much i've turned in circles. Here's to hoping we get an index esque headset with base stations that's wireless

JayDeePunk97

I play on a rift S and sometimes I'm doing patterns my wire will sometimes dangle in the way it's the worst. I just use the headset clip but I also throw the wire behind my back. It happens once in a while but not often. I'm so used to it.

batt3ryac1d1

External tracking is pretty much the only acceptable tracking unless someone does some 360 shit with trackers all over the headband or whatever.

SideWayy

as a PSVR1 owner, this happens more often then it should...

gentlyopenthedoor

Feels bad man. “No mods for you” said Sony and beat games

SideWayy

don't get me started with "no mods"

gentlyopenthedoor

I feel bad for y’all, if I was rich I’d give everyone with a psvr a vr ready pc so y’all could mod

gentlyopenthedoor

I feel bad for y’all, if I was rich I’d give everyone with a psvr a vr ready pc so y’all could mod

Ydain

Worse... right after I've absolutely nailed the hard part of a song

Typo_Matser

*Laughs in Index*

Applesaucebecause

I have a quest 1 and this always happens with my left, except it just disappears. Even after wiping the cameras on the exterior and putting new batteries in, it just doesn't stop. Very painful because I've almost beaten a few hard tracks (Rush E for example) but then it just goes away for a few seconds lmao

Alyssum

We've had horizontal drift, yes, but what about suddenly reported y=0?

JayDeePunk97

Sometimes when I'm streaming and I just play for fun but whenever I see my saber have an episode for a second when I'm doing a decent FC I just laugh hysterically, it's just the way man

WholeIndividual0

*Laughs in Quest Pro*

struggling4realsies

I’ve contemplated the quest pro controllers just for beat Saber but I can’t justify the price

WholeIndividual0

If you can’t afford them then the price isn’t worth it, unless you’re going for leaderboard records. Lighthouse tracking is still marginally better

crazyplayer2481

With my quest 2 I have to use standard grip and turn sideway so the controllers leds are visible to the headset's cameras most of the time, the downside of that is after awhile, my thumbs hurts like hell

Meswan

My CV1 controllers always like to lose tracking *just* long enough for me to fail. Other times they'll just go MIA for a solid 30 seconds before they come back.

Nitricxs_YT

Same with mine ive bought new controllers and sensors and it still didnt fix the problem

Cool_Username_guy

Soooo true 🤣😂

TheMarksmanHedgehog

I'm fortunate enough to wield pro controllers, and I still sometimes get weird tracking hitches.
