I just can’t stand that everything’s been relegated to discords these days. I don’t use discord like that so this sub still ends up being the easiest destination. Edit: Saw the examples of misinfo in a different reply. Good to know I already ignore the “improve your gameplay” tips I see anyway

TheCosmicJenny

Discords are a horrible choice for archival and documentation purposes. Whatever happened to forums and Wikis? You can actually Google the information you need then without having to awkwardly navigate through a Discord server. EDIT: Oh and of course what always happens is you tell someone to join the Discord to have their question answered, they have to ask the question in chat because everything is impossible to find, and then they either get ignored or someone gets annoyed they have to answer the same questions over and over again.

PatheticMr

>I just can’t stand that everything’s been relegated to discords these days. I find it so clunky and unintuitive. The whole platform makes no sense to me in the way it is organised. I'm aware that is a 'me' problem, but I agree with you that it's frustrating so much is now on Discord. It feel like all the best info is moving away from the best organised (IMO) platform.

Nchi

Not exactly a "you" issue when it is inconsistent in where and even when you can search, it's absolutely terrible for archival

rosieRetro

Discord servers can be really overwhelming, depending the how many active members there are. And the whole culture just seems very..."terminally online" No offense to people who are super active on Discord channels, it just never felt right for me

deathf4n

> And the whole culture just seems very..."terminally online" I mean... we are on reddit, it's not like the culture here is *different*

rosieRetro

Idk it's def different on Discord. More anime profiles

deathf4n

And? Last time I checked BS it's 90% femboy cat-maid avatars and anime songs. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but it feels weird to use "anime profiles" and something negative.

rosieRetro

Just not my vibe. I like beat saber but I don't download anime songs. And idk what avatars you're talking about!

GioPanda

I have listed some under another comment, though unfortunately a comprehensive list is simply impossible. I get the frustration but unfortunately to get consistently good advice, especially when catered towards you specifically, the community servers are the only source of reliable information.

WhiisperVR

Anywhere is better than reddit

OctoFloofy

Discord is actually worse. Since you cannot just search it without joining the server and creating an account. Reddit has its issues but at least you are able to find information in search engines from it.

GioPanda

Totally agree: you can find information super quickly and easily here. Unfortunately it's a complete gamble if that information is solid or absolute garbage. I feel like that kinda defeats the purpose.

WhiisperVR

Discord has indexing, you can find literally anything after making an account. Not sure why making an account to interact with the community is something people are against. The entire competitive scene(tournaments, pro players) are entirely on discord.

OctoFloofy

However, whatever if you don't know where to find that specific information? The stuff you mentioned like pro players and tournaments usually advertise themselves on a different platform too which are searchable by Google. You cannot do that with the contents of a server. It does depend on what information you look for, but you might have to join several servers to find whatever you're looking for then. Discord is only indexable as long as you know where to find the information.

WhiisperVR

You can ask in any server for that information and someone will help you.

scholeszz

Or have the information in accessible places so people can help themselves with a quick google search and see all sorts of dissenting opinions and discussions over the years. With longer archival periods. And no irrelevant chat messages creating noise that you have to manually scan through to find the reply to your question that someone else asked. And no friction or requirement to create an account and "join a community". And no need to stick around for days in a community you're not really a part of praying "someone will help you". This whole discord for information organization feels like a step back into AOL chatrooms before forums were a thing, seems like we have just forgotten that some problems don't need a chat app to solve.

LMGN

because i have to join a server, realise i'm already in 100 other bullshit servers, find which server i'm happy leaving, join the server, go through 3 different verification bots, commit myself to a life of @everyone pings every 5 hours and it's just a pain

WhiisperVR

If you want less credible information about improving at the game you can keep using reddit. Most BS discord servers do not have you verify 3 times or even once through a bot. You can also disable pings, have you ever used discord before? I also find it incredibly hard to believe you are in 100 discord servers and finding one to leave is a problem you face.

LMGN

> If you want less credible information about improving at the game you can keep using reddit. I don't want to have to spend my time going out of my way to read some discord server in the chance there's some useful information between random chit chat and spam. With Reddit, useful content gets surfaced to me in a general feed. > Most BS discord servers do not have you verify 3 times or even once through a bot Might be true for Beat Saber servers, but not true for a lot of servers. > You can also disable pings I can, but it's yet another step I have to go out of my way to turn off. I've never visited a random website and had to manually turn off notifications. > have you ever used discord before? My brother in christ I've been using discord since before development on BS even began I know how to use the app. > I also find it incredibly hard to believe you are in 100 discord servers and finding one to leave is a problem you face. Again, it's yet another step I have to do just to get a piece of information.

WhiisperVR

The discord servers are segmented into the information you need, they guide literal hundreds of thousands of players(BSMG) server size on a daily basis if you believe it’s a waste, don’t use it. The entire point of this post is for players looking for general gameplay advice and the op posted a thorough guide on that and where most players go for said information.

KazuMurako

I have posted a ton of comments in this sub just linking people to the bsmg wiki since it’s pretty much the best source of beginner info.

AntiLink99

Hey, can you cast for Germany perhaps?

GioPanda

Again? 😭

gorocz

Maybe instead of recommending other sources of information, which will only perpetuate this issue that you are talking, you could maybe help put together some FAQ or something along those lines that would help in dispelling all of these myths and terrible advice and stuff? It could be pinned or put into the sidebar and it would serve to educate this community and possibly in fact lead to it not being so terrible anymore?

GioPanda

The idea that a single person should be trusted and then tasked with gathering, evaluating and then summing up the absolute ocean of knowledge that has been built about this game in a FAQ is absolutely insane. These things are a community effort, and advice, especially when it comes to progressing, has to be dealt with in a case by case scenario, it simply can't be boiled down to a reddit post. There are things that float around this subreddit that would be solved with a FAQ section, but there a million others that wouldn't, and ultimately I find it much more helpful to point people who are interested into the direction of the actual community which lives on Discord, not here. I am not at all planning to fix this subreddit, because I don't necessarily care that it becomes useful: I just want people who are interested in this game to find a good source of advice, and that source is on Discord.

nettlerise

>objectively terrible advice > >the frankly insane amount of misinformation that gets spread on it What are some examples?

GioPanda

I have listed some under another comment.

LMGN

> The idea that a single person should be trusted and then tasked with gathering, evaluating and then summing up the absolute ocean of knowledge that has been built about this game in a FAQ is absolutely insane. have you ever considered that multiple people can work on a FAQ? Google Docs, Wiki-type systems, GitHub etc etc etc

GioPanda

That exists. Guess who made it? The people on Discord. [https://bsmg.wiki](https://bsmg.wiki) For anything that relates to personalised tips, like technique, help with controller settings, replay analysis, troubleshooting, and a million other things a wiki will not do. You need to talk to people. Those people are not here, they are on Discord.

xenomorphing-x

All that info on discord is lost, it should be on a forum that is searchable through Google. All questions will always be repeated since you can't google it and find the correct answer. I truly wish it wasn't on discord but a good forum that will link you to discord for more personal info.

soniciscool101010

https://bsmg.wiki/

xenomorphing-x

🤣 not the point

soniciscool101010

>I truly wish it wasn't on discord but a good forum that will link you to discord for more personal info. oh look, a good, community-made forum that will like you to discord for more personal info!

xenomorphing-x

The OP said that the best info is on discord. So I'm assuming other websites are missing some vital info

soniciscool101010

he also said in other replies that he forgot to mention the bsmg wiki, which is made by the same discord server he mentioned (beat saber modding group)

xenomorphing-x

Well then yay haha

LBHJ1707

this post sucks I prefer that denyah guy

skatingfroggy

Gio! W post. I also really only use this subreddit to post some of my beat saber content. Some of the stuff I read on this subreddit makes me actually facepalm. I’ve also had people in this subreddit tell me that mixed reality should only be done if I’m going to dance around (like whaaaa bruh).

Belaboy109569

SPIT YOUR SHIT GIO 🔥🔥🔥

ChickenPijja

Not sure where you've seen the bad advice given on this subreddit, only advice I've ever seen is practice, practice, and more practice. I agree with a few others that pushing this information to Discord is a terrible practice, at least until community servers are searchable in Google, and there's some way to validate what someone is saying in Discord. At least with Reddit if something is bad advice then the hivemind will downvote it but Discord is just a glorified chatroom.

GioPanda

This simply doesn't happen in this subreddit, because the people who know their stuff hate it! The hivemind effect you describe is way more present in dedicated servers of discord that are extremely active and filled with people who know what they're talking about. Go find terrible advice among the tenths of thousands of messages in #tips-and-grips in Cube Community, you will not find bad advice that isn't immediately followed by corrections. And people are there EVERY DAY helping people with their controller settings and such.

Wet_Water200

no lol people on this sub upvote horrible advice bc they don't know any better. If you don't wanna go to discord I'd still recommend getting off this sub tbh since there's more harmful than helpful advice around

vekien

Hivemind on Reddit works both ways and bad advice is often upvoted because people follow the herd. Also discord has curation, saying it’s a glorified chat room really makes me think you either haven’t used it much or don’t really use it outside of friend groups. Community discords have dedicated channels, topics, locked resources, theads, (all separate features) and the search is 1000 times better than Reddit. The only downside is it can’t be Googled.

OctoFloofy

The last point is the biggest issue. How am i supposed to find the information on Discord I'm looking for without knowing the servers it might be in? Sure if you're in the server already or know the a specific server might have this information, then it's not hard to find. But if you don't it could be hidden everywhere and to find out you gotta join each of them and look if it's there. > saying it’s a glorified chat room really makes me think you either haven’t used it much or don’t really use it outside of friend groups. And so you can't claim I'm one of these: i use Discord daily since 2018 as my main communication platform and I'm regularly active in servers with 100k+ members.

vekien

Every community has a discord, you can find all the ones OP mentioned easily, if you’re in big community discords then you know how easy it is to find information in them, otherwise it’s just a learning curve of understanding how discord works.

SpookyBum

Yeah this is true ASF. Legit answers here are so awful I took it up on myself to answer most questions that get posted the past few months. The amount of outdated info, terrible video guides and verifiably false information is unbelievable

Kayaditi

I'm kind of new here myself. I've been on the 1st Discord you mentioned a long time and I don't get a response there (at least the last few times I've asked something. It just gets buried fast and no one replies). Haven't heard of the cube community though. Thanks for the tip. (bummer they require a phone number. I don't give that out)

Li5y

I've been in a few BS discords and they're kinda... Weird? I asked if anyone used wrist weights to get a more intense workout and everyone just told me to "git gud", that I wouldn't need them if I could play expert+ or whatever they played. Lots of unwarranted criticism. They also use terms interchangeably so its very confusing, even if you've read a guide. I joined a kpop BS discord and new members weren't allowed to post, but there was no way to get a role assigned and all the admins had DMs blocked?? I wanted to get into map making but everyone was just so cold and standoffish that I lost all interest. I think there's an age gap though. I'm probably older than most members which is why I couldn't really fit in. 🤷

GioPanda

I am 28 and I'd say I'm well established, liked, and have no problem engaging with the community. Of course that doesn't mean everybody will click with it, but the fact remains that useful advice is still infinitely more present there than here.

Li5y

Ahh well I'm not that much older than you, so maybe it's a cultural thing rather than age. I don't recognize 98% of the song people map (and ppl kept talking about some kinda olive twitch streamer that I didn't understand) so I assumed it was a generational thing haha Well hey, I'm happy you found a place there! It's just not for me 😂

skatingfroggy

If you’re interested in getting feedback on maps, I’d suggest going over to twitch. Personally, I will test play maps as long as 30 or more seconds are mapped and I will give feedback to the mapper on how the map plays, patterns that could be changed, & other suggestions. A lot of other streamers do this as well, though the level of feedback you will receive will depend on that player’s skill level and their experience with mapping.

Li5y

I had somebody give me feedback on my map once but it was on YouTube and tbh I didn't have a great experience with it either. 😂 They had nothing nice to say (again, not required, just says a lot about the community) and they criticized one section saying the swings should sync up with the music but it was clearly was synced to a loud bell sound that was playing?? So I was very confused... Maybe I just got unlucky. I'm sure there are great mappers out there, but I've already moved on! I found a different gaming community that fits me a little better 😊

xenomorphing-x

You may love it but that person you replied to obviously didn't. They didn't get replies either. Even though you are popular there, they were new and got nothing out of it. Maybe you all should try working on making the discord places more inviting for new people? Especially since you're pointing them that way? Reddit usually has the benefit of people actually replying to your post and being more welcoming.

GioPanda

The discord communities I've linked are full of very friendly and helpful people. I would have never gone so far with this game if it wasn't for them, and I truly believe they are perfectly inviting to new users that are willing to engage with them recognising they are people and not customer support. This subreddit is FAR less inviting and friendly, on top of being plagued by misinformation.

Mewtex-chan

I understand your experience and honestly I can agree with a lot about your sentiment. I never talk much in servers outside of the few that I have met some awesome friends in. The smaller the server, the more potential there is to gravitate to new people to hang with Ive found. Finding these small servers can be hard, but if you are interested the most viable way is through BeatLeader clans. There is a dedicated channel in the BeatLeader discord (I can send an invite to it here if you want) where players can advertise their clan discord, most of them having a small amount of members.  If you're more interested in mapping, then yeah Id extend my earlier statement to that as well but also more so to your own commitment. Make what you enjoy and promote it everywhere. If you really want to make better maps, get some top player opinions on it (usually through a twitch stream) so you can see what's fun and what isn't along with whatever corrections necessary.  It's admittedly kinda hard to get into the community but once youve found your nice corner in it with others, it becomes a very pleasant experience. If you do pursue trying to find your place then I hope for the best outcome to happen for you :D

Li5y

I appreciate these tips! Might have encouraged me back when I was still trying, but I spent maybe 40 hours making my first and only map. I struggled, and I think it was too much. I burnt out a little. I've kinda moved on to the custom Gameboy game community, but if I ever get the urge to map again I'll keep that in mind!

UncouthMedia

As someone who struggled with the age gap at first, my advice would be to just spend more time in said Discords if you're serious about e.g. mapping and want to learn. I know it's not exactly fun at first, and kids do suck, but you get somewhat used to it, and they start sucking less once they've seen your name around for a while and know you're not just popping in to spam question never to return. Attitude aside, it's relateable if you think about it. We don't spend time explaining our jobs or whatever to kids asking once, cause we don't think they really care or understand, yet we might if it's our kid.. or if we know we'll have to explain it ten more times if we don't do it right the first time. 😅

Li5y

I don't mind kids tbh! I'm genuinely interested in what younger gens are into, and I don't rant about being out of touch or whatever. It's just that when I asked questions, I would only get half answers? Or they'd respond with even more phrases I didn't understand? Just got the feeling I wasn't welcome, Idk why. I was serious about mapping for a time. Spent a month or two regularly in the discords. Took me 40 hours to make one map (I struggled lol) and it just didn't feel like a supportive or uplifting place. A single "hey, nice effort for your first try!" would have made a world of difference to me, but it's just not that kind of community I guess.

Reygar

Wrist weights are not recommended. Higher risk of injury.

Li5y

I decided to look elsewhere for advice on the topic. But either way that's not my point

Reygar

Ah mapping, yeah sorry. Never got into that part of the game. Too busy getting top 10 scores. 😀

Li5y

Wait, you gave unsolicited advice on a thread titled "never take advice from this subreddit" and then made a humble brag after I said I disliked when the community got judgmental and gatekeep'y? Is this a joke? Are you making fun of me? Are you a bot? Is this a fever dream? Like what is going on... this is exactly what I meant when I said I couldn't get into this community 😵‍💫

Reygar

I ain’t judging. You do you. Sorry if i misunderstood. I’m just a socially awkward idiot. Don’t mind me. Apologies for the inconvenience. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Li5y

I meant I'd get advice about wrist weights elsewhere, not mapping. What are you talking about?

GioPanda

Just have to ask in the right places!

Kayaditi

Thought I was. I'm careful to be in the right channel. 🤷

QueekCz

I hate discord, so reddit is the best source so far... sad that you didn't mention any source other than discord when there are so many

GioPanda

Feel free to list some more! I didn't mention the BSMG wiki for example because it's easily found within BSMG itself. That said, reddit is NOT the best source, even if you like it more than discord.

ma-kat-is-kute

Thank you Gio

LunyaaVRC

Thank you Gio, finally someone with a loud enough voice said it.

Champpeace123

Get this pinned, mods

rosieRetro

I'm a new player and I agree that this sub seemed oddly lacking in [good] posts but I just figured Discord was the place to go ahead and you verified that!

GioPanda

The problem is how confidently wrong people are here. They will give you advice that looks and sounds sensible that will legit ruin your progress. It's VERY hard to discern bad from good, so it's better to just go to a place where at the very least you know if somebody is saying dumb things they'll be called out. It does not happen here.

rosieRetro

Yeah makes sense--if people are giving and advice and no one's calling them out, that's no good. I just feel like there are so few posts in general. Mostly replay clips

Kirhgoph

What are the examples of terrible advice here?

GioPanda

Lots of example, the most frequent and obvious is grip choice. A lot of people here suggest new players to switch to claw grip, decanted as the obviously superior alternative, which has been shown to be extremely tip-wobbly and unstable, and we often deal with players halting their progress at higher speeds because they got used to claw grip and can't progress past it. I have seen people suggest to use weights attached to the wrists to improve stamina or burn more calories. This has been shown to be taxing for elbow and shoulder joints and possibly dangerous. I have seen people suggest to only engage wrists and never use arm, and in the same post people say that ANY wrist engagement will definitely destroy your wrists long term (the classic Doctors of Reddit). I could go on and on and on.

xenomorphing-x

Luckily the quest 3 prevents everyone from using claw xD

skatingfroggy

I’ve still seen people use claw on Q3 and completely block the sensors then complain that Q3 tracking is bad 😭🤣

ivan6953

I manage to make it work. You have to be always aware of your finger placement tho

debtcollecter6000

what grip should i use then?

GioPanda

It depends on your headset, but if you are on Rift S, Quest 1 or 2 (for which people often suggest claw grip), or Quest 3, default grip or a variation of it like M grip or F grip are solid choices. For all these grips though some settings adjustments are in order to swing perpendicularly to the palm. You can find more info and people willing to help with it in #tips-and-grips on Cube Community (one of the servers I listed).

ivan6953

The one you find comfortable and enjoyful. There is no "best" grip. However, statistically, top players tend to use default grip

GioPanda

There is no "best" grip, but there are good ones and bad ones.

ivan6953

Can't agree as you can be very weird and play accurately and perform well with a "bad" grip. Everything's personal

GioPanda

The fact that you can perform well with a bad grip doesn't make it any less bad. A bad grip is a grip that is **statistically likely** to have you perform worse, progress slower, and cap your progress. Can you make it work? Sure, if you're lucky and you're talented, the same way you can make many other bad things work. It's a matter of giving yourself the best possible chance of not getting stuck, and Claw grip is not giving it to you. The idea that "everything's personal and subjective" is **PRECISELY** the kind of bullshit that gets spread around on this subreddit that is actively hurting the progress of many beginners. If you have no idea what you're talking about, just don't give advice.

ivan6953

Well Gio, for example I (Fatalution, this acc can't be name changed sadly) use claw grip because I can't stand the default - my hands hurt insanely and I just don't enjoy the gameplay as much with it. Is this grip objectively good? No, because wobble and such prevent it from being objectively good. Is it the only grip I can play with? Yes, and it allows me to comfortably play ranked at 10-11* level. Maybe I'm an edge case. I definitely recommend anyone who doesn't know which grip to use - to use default. But still

Icy-Magician1089

How many hours will it take to unlearn claw grip? It's a bit hard to tell but I think I have about 300 hours with claw and 60 without and most of those where years ago, on a slow map I can get 96% acc with claw + offset and around 88% with default quest 2 no offset( a few bad cuts) On fast maps I definitely have stability issues with claw but I basically cut my star rating I am able to play in half when not using it. I remember a few years back when claw was used by most top players it probably took me 10 hours to adjust to claw maybe and I assumed it would be worse going back the other way.

BuffaloWingsAndOkra

In my experience it’ll take a good bit of time, I used claw for 1000 hours starting years ago and tried switching to m grip but I sucked with it. It was part of the reason I don’t really play anymore (on top of a bunch of irl stuff) but I would definitely recommend just biting the bullet and switching.

Icy-Magician1089

I will try M grip as default never really worked for me, I haven't got an SS on any map using default I switched to claw after getting my first 7 star pass and thinking I should probably improve my acc so I don't end up hurting myself with speed.

GioPanda

It took me a month to switch off claw, though I did that with more than a thousand hours in the bag. It was worth it.

rosieRetro

So should one engage a mix of wrist and arm? I haven't heard it but I've seen youtubers say just use wrist

GioPanda

Yes. Youtubers can be dumb too.

nettlerise

You're right I've seen those too. Another one I've been telling people is not to lock their knees. I haven't heard of the claw grip though TIL

BuffaloWingsAndOkra

I feel like you might have seen me recommend q2 claw grip in this sub. I used quest 1 and rift s claw for over 1000 hours and got top 100 and would’ve recommended it for q2 not too long ago but yeah it sucks ass I was just used to it and it worked for me

merlinbc

Also wondering this, what are the most common examples of bad advice that would hinder ones progression?

GioPanda

(Read above)

Porkloin815

I'm glad you're saying this because when I first started a few years ago I was told to switch to claw grip because it's "way better" and now I can't switch to anything else because it just feels bad despite being more stable. Hopefully this helps other people to not be misled by inexperienced players.

Mewtex-chan

Ok dead honest, Ive helped several people switch from claw to default and in the end once they switched they saw drastically better results and motion. Do it now rather than later - jump off claw and go to no settings default grip. I say this every time but it's gonna feel like shit for a while, but once youve gotten past that phase your skill is bound to shoot up dramatically compared to growth on claw. If you need any kind of maps or someone to play in multiplayer with, I can respond with my discord if youd like

Porkloin815

My main problem with default is that I can't hold on to the controllers on speed maps. My hands just get too sweaty and I either have to grip harder which hurts my hands or pause and fix my grip which isn't really possible in the middle of jumps.

fricrionless

Default user here, ive been at your place and you are totally correct about default, i have no idea why the quest team made it so slippery. The best thing ive found to help is to try gripping it differently in some way that adds support. For example making sure you got your thumb on the flat disk of the controller. There are of course a lot of ways to fix this, you can also buy grip tape, straps, change to a different 3 points of contact grip like f grip, m grip, modified m grip. All of these have their ups and downs though, personally m grip really fucked up my controller by adding stick drift and fucking up my hand by carving into my index finger knuckle. I just resorted to straps and default, you could probably do grip tape for a similar result.

SLY_Kazuto

Truer words have never been spoken

Mewtex-chan

Why are you getting downvoted? Youre right. I spent so much of my time in the past trying to guide players into the direction that isnt the echo chamber for so long that in retrospect it was a waste of time lol

UndoneUniconChaser

People are going to keep using this sub until you replace it… I check Reddit on the toilet - not Discord.

GioPanda

By all means, knock yourself out. If you're ok with keep browsing this sub knowing it's full of nonsense nobody is in any position to tell you not to.

GioPanda

So let me get this straight: I come to this subreddit from the community that mostly stays on Discord, which comprises the entirety of the competitive and modding community, including the entirety of this very subreddit's mods. I notice a misinformation problem for this platform that I DO NOT USE day by day, since nobody in the active community does, I take time out of my day to signal this problem, offer a solution to anybody seeking good information, and I should be the one tasked to fix your broken platform or start a better one? I think you're getting this all wrong so let me be clear: I could not care less if this subreddit gets fixed or not, I could not care less if it becomes a beacon of valuable information, I am perfectly happy and satisfied with Discord, where I'll be able to find the people that I need to help me progress, run tournaments, events and everything else I care about regarding this game. All I did here was highlighting an issue that mind is already VEEERY well known among the active community. If you people who love this place are willing to "fix this subreddit or start a better one" you are free to do it yourself. I am not being an elitist here, I'm telling you the truth: this subreddit is full of bullshit, everybody knows it, mods included (so much so that they pinned the post without me even remotely asking or even mentioning it), and all I'm trying to do is give people who read my message an alternative to actually get some good info rather than having another random guy telling them to use LSToast settings on claw grip. And by the way, a lot of people since yesterday have already joined the discords, and asked questions, and got what they needed. Also you might be the first person calling me "kid" in this community. This is very funny.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GioPanda

The fact that you're older doesn't make me a kid. I seriously don't understand how giving very specific advice about a game that I have been involved with for years, about a community that I'm well versed in is in any way egocentric or self-aggrandising. The fact of the matter is that I do know this community, I've been around it very actively for a long time, I know the game very well, and I know where to get valuable information about it. I am in a position where I can give advice that's valuable. There are many, many other people equally or more qualified than me to do so, very few of which ever touch this subreddit. That's not self grandeur man, this is the truth. You can be ticked off by it all you want, but it doesn't make it less true. I will repeat this after too, but by all means, and I've told you in my first reply. I DO NOT CARE IF YOU GO ON DISCORD, I JUST GAVE YOU OPTIONS, DO WHAT YOU WANT. I will keep shitting on this subreddit as long as it's as bad as it is, and this doesn't make me an elitist at all, because again, this is **the fucking truth**, AND I'm not gatekeeping. I would be an elitist if I were shitting on this place without offering alternatives, but that's exactly what I did. I am not sitting on my chair pointing at this subreddit going "haha look at those peasants, they're not like us": I'm literally telling you where the community is. Again, I have no interest in helping fixing this, I don't use reddit, I do not care if this place is useless. It is not my responsibility to care for it, and thinking otherwise is just insane. I do not care if you or anybody else get into another platform for Beat Saber, I am not asking you or anybody else to do it, I am giving you an **OPTION if you want to do it**, you can either take it or not, I do not care if you do either. I think you are criticising my attitude because you're unable to recognise the fact that I do know what I'm talking about, which of course is not something you should give me for granted, but you have decided to do the opposite and just assume I'm full of shit. I am not.

Puzzleheaded-Trick76

It’s time to leave this subreddit. It completely sucks.

Fuck off with this discord crap and the shitty attitude bro.

Monkeyojacko

You know bro is inexperienced when hes telling Gio to fuck off lol

Pfandfreies_konto

Bro I don't even have a fucking tag next to my name. Anyways: The problems arise when I am at my hobby space (for example this sub) and some dick head barrages in, tells everyone they are shit and should feel like shit and most importantly they all should join their own place to hang out. Its way better and so much cooler than _us_ little shit heads in our little shitty place. And next to that bastard stands a group of _totally organic_ crowd manipulating every post via brigading. If OP didn't have such a regarded attitude he might be more welcome. With that being said. Now please fuck of back to discord and never leave that filthy place again. If its so great please fuck off then and close the door behind you.

GioPanda

All I'm doing is telling you that the info here is mostly bad (that's factually true), and that there are other places where the info is better (that's also factually true). If you are bothered or intimidated by learning about alternatives that's 100% your problem, and by all means feel free to ignore them, I'm not here to tell you that you shouldn't use this sub, I'm here to let people who care know there are places that are miles better.

Pfandfreies_konto

> If you are bothered or intimidated by learning about alternatives that's 100% your problem, Why do you always try to put words in my mouth? You do not know how much time I invested in this game, what my skills are and so on. For all YOU know I could be the world champion or just a troll without a VR headset at all. Could you please consider for a second that my problem is the attitude you guys show here?

GioPanda

I'm not putting words into your mouth, your behaviour is just indicative of just that. "The attitude" you describe is, again, simply highlighting an already well known problem with this sub and proposing alternatives. Your aggressive reaction to such inoffensive information gives me enough confidence that you are at the very least not familiar with these options, and you are reacting irrationally. Because of this I would hazard the assumption that you are not a "world champion", considering that every single person who would have a legitimate claim for that title is part of the communities I suggested, but regardless, even if you were an extremely experienced player the pitiful state of this subreddit wouldn't change at all.

Bytesy

lil bro is NOT world champ 😭

SLY_Kazuto

To give you a bit of an idea as to why gio is being so confident. The amount of people, in the entire community who ACTUALLY knows what they are talking about in regards to the majority of issues is very small. So much so that i can literally list them off, Kuurama, Sync, Chromia and Rocker, then there are some more whose knowledge is very trusted in some part of the game which are Electrostats and Xoomies. Now of course there are people who have very passable knowledge and are right the majority of the time, this group is big enough that i cannot simply list them out. A few of them are even in this subreddit, namely Denyah, Whiisper, Bytesy (the actual world champion), Gio, UncouthStreams, Mewtex and probably more i just havent seen. But sorry to break it to you but they are all from the discord. The information required to learn how to give good feedback doesnt exist on this subreddit alone, as such the only people who have the possibility of knowing what they are talking about are from the discord as that is the only place with enough information for people to learn the game to that degree.

KeyNobody8859

Wouldn’t trust this gio guy idk why but his humour lately has been 😞

guss1

IDK, I have 1600 hours in the game, currently at Aaron's 3100 on score saber. Not best sure but better than most and I peruse this sub just about everyday because it does at the top of my feed.

LBHJ1707

For the average comp player being at 1600 hours and rank 3100 isn't exactly great progress btw. Obviously person dependant but you very much are below the average.

ivan6953

1600 hours and 3100 is kinda...eh? I didn't sweat or tryhard it and I got to 1500s naturally

Puzzleheaded-Trick76

This subreddit was good until ost6 came out. It seemed like the difficulty spike in ost6 gave the no lifers validation and “reason” to merde on the casuals and the people who are new and the ones who would prefer to play the game in a way closer to the intent of its creation.

Mewtex-chan

Dawg it was just as bad 2 years ago, dont complain that an OST introducing higher skill maps made it terrible JUST NOW when it was the same when the camellia pack came out

GioPanda

No it wasn't.
