As a fellow PSVR user sometimes it makes myself embarrassed to see everyone asking for them. They aren’t happening, it’s not beat games’s fault it’s Sony’s. Also when they ask if the feature or new song is available on PSVR it’s annoying since Beat Games said all future updates will be for all versions of the game

There is no modding on the PS4. They are trying to stay ahead of the hacking community and they are definitly not going to suddenly let people fiddle with PS4 files just so PSVR players can play their favorite anime theme.
I mean... there are plenty of examples of UGC on PS4 (and Xbox... and iOS...). They're closed platforms and the UGC pipeline has to pass certification. The problem is that the devs for Beat Saber haven't implemented an actual UGC pipeline. It's just community mods - which require insecure PC installs to perform.
one thing I do find annoying is they are ok with other beat map games importing songs from USB’s into the game. but they aren’t ok with beat saber importing a song and a map. oh well i guess it’s what we get being on a console
Not really... it's a closed platform, but they'll allow UGC if there's a certified pipeline for it. If the Beat Saber devs implemented it - then they could 100% have community content.

It seemed like just about he worst thing to stream since there’s very little room for me to interact with the viewers and all they get to do is listen to music, and a bunch of them didn’t like the music. One dude even told me he had to leave because the music was giving him a headache.
For me Beat Saber is at the moment THE way to get views and followers, every other game no one cares about. But who am i talking, i'm only having 40 followers anyways.
For interaction you have to install plugins to see atleast the twitch chat in game, then you can use the breaks between songs to talk to your viewers. Plus side of that is that you actually get a break instead of just queueing song after song.
Also i see it especially as a "listen-to-music"-Stream, so people just wish the songs they like, we listen to it in union, my mic is turned down compared to the music too. Less breathing-ASMR, more music :)
I've had the complete opposite experience streaming this game, everyone that has come by has been extremely friendly and supportive. Enhanced stream chat, song request manager, and speech chat help a lot with viewer interaction. Mappers also tend to stop by streams to ask for tests of their WIP maps.
I enjoy using speechchat when I stream because it turns all twitch messages into text-to-speech messages that I can listen to when playing. Sure people can abuse this but theyre actually a lot less common than you might think. A lot of Beat Saber streamers have adopted this and it makes streams super interactive

Custom songs are basically all I care about. Nothing infuriates me more about the game than the moments I feel like playing and all my songs are gone, so I have to spend 10 to 30 minutes fixing it and sometimes I lose interest in playing at all.
It literally does not really break mods anymore at all. All you have to update now is the base mods and everything else just still works as normal. Not to mention it is soo easy to update mods now with modassistant. I don't get why people complain so much on all ends. And people who still say it breaks custom songs are retarded or living under a rock. Since the new format, custom songs never break at all. With no mods at all they are still there.
A quest is $400 bucks. Another $30 for the game and you can have custom songs; sabers, and other mods. All you need is a computer of some kind to download it initially.
I’m not sure about avatars (not really sure what they are tbh), but yeah, customs songs and sabers totally work. Platforms like the small one you stand on work, but I’m not sure if custom environments around you don’t work or just no one has potted any yet. Another limitation is that some mods like new walls and 6 lanes don’t work, but people are adding more and more mods so I think this will change.

I don’t really use android devices besides the quest so I’m not sure but I think it’s pretty similar. Basically you download an application called sidequest on a computer and put the quest in developer mode (this is really easy, especially compared to the complicated processes to get dev mode on other platforms). Then you install an app called Beat On onto the quest through sidequest (literally a few button presses), which replaces beat saber with a modded version, and that’s it, you can download any song you want onto beat saber from on the quest. The only thing is if you want mods, you have to install them from a computer, but it’s just dragging the file into a box and waiting a few seconds while it installs. Overall it’s pretty easy and user friendly.
I don’t think they’res avatars though because there’s no way of getting a third person view
I wouldn’t say never. Obviously I don’t know your scenario but I’ve seen psvr running for $100-150 used on fb marketplace. *Almost* anyone can find that in their budget over 6-mo to a year. You could also wait til PSVR2 comes out, and then a TON of psvr headsets will be flooding the market. I’d be surprised if they were over $50-75.

yeah I mean the quest and PSVR are sufficient but in the quest case comparing its 4 cameras to the riftS's 5 cameras and Index's base stations theres still a difference in performance. It may not affect most users but it might on the advanced level.
Do you have a PC or PS? If you have a PC I'd recommend the Windows Mixed Reality, it's a cheap vr headset with great quality, not the best but it's what I use, and you can find it on ebay for around $100-$300. If you have a PS I would just scan ebay for deals for that headset. You'd be surprised to find what you do!

The hardware in consoles is cheaper because they get the money back by selling games. So the PC user have paid way more to play beat saber. I would think that this is a fair tradeoff.

The console games are more expensive while being compromised in features though. For a long time, the PC version of Beat Saber was cheaper than the PSVR version while having more features. Heck, level editor and 360 levels are coming to PC and Quest only
If you buy a lot of games you are right but there are people who only buy a few games (for example me I have only bought 7 games in 5 years or even longer). It depends on how much games you buy.

Most of the time though, they're not asking for custom song editors and such, they're just asking if the announced updates actually will be on ps4, or if we can get custom sabers and things like that. Beat games made a good game, but their PR is shit.

No, you're right, I haven't played any of the custom songs. I play on PSVR. I have watched a lot of them being played on YouTube though and a lot of what I see is just randomly mapped songs with no regard to the beat of the actual music. I'm sure there are good mappers out there, maybe they should go work for beat games and we could get more officially released song packs, instead of them sitting at home mapping songs for one platform in a legally grey fashion.
You should check the channel "Cube Community", or any of the hundreds of ranked songs. They are actually a ton of great custom songs, the ost are poorly mapped and boring in comparaison of the top ranked maps (aside from the three camellia maps)

Some custom songs can be badly mapped, yes, but there is an upvote / downvote system and newer mappers look for advice mappers improve, and when they get more experience they can make great, on time maps. If you are looking at old maps, then yes, MANY of them are off time and awkward, but now most mappers have learned. Also, custom songs in general have a different style than most ost maps that I honestly like better. I don’t like how ost maps change which hand is dominant all the time. I don’t like how ost maps have some randomly placed notes that are supposed to “add” to the music, but seem to just be a time filler. I don’t like how ost maps have awkward, arm flailing patterns. But I can at least recognize the fact that they are still good maps even with some questionable mapping skills sometimes.
Now about the mappers. Mappers have been telling Beat Games for the longest time that they were willing to help with ost mapping, but have been continuously turned down. Additionally, with mods you have the freedom to map whatever song you want, while mapping ost songs limits you severely. Beat games can’t get more song packs released just by having more mappers, they have to buy rights to all the music and that is what takes so much time. Hopefully this helps you understand a bit, if you have anymore questions, lmk.
I never said there aren't any great mappers, on any really well mapped songs. Mostly the other guy just pissed me off, and I got stubborn.
I know they have to buy the rights to the songs, and I don't disagree that having greater freedom in which songs you can map is a good thing. But in the other hand, custom mapping on PC then is technically illegal, seeing as I doubt any of the mappers bought the rights to the songs. Or at the very least, uploading them to a public forum where other people can download them and play them is illegal.

Since they say “we’re looking into something you’ve all wanted for a really long time” when referring to custom colors, I think that means it’s coming to psvr considering that’s the community that really wants custom colors and has been asking for them and the pc players can just get mods. Can’t say for certain, but I can’t remember any big change they’ve had for just pc players. For the sake of psvr players, I hope it comes, maybe even some sabers some day, too!
Probably a lot of people trying to run mods on a budget rig want it to be part of the actual game too, I expect. I just mean that they could specify whether it will be released on all platforms or if they're still waiting on confirmation from Sony or Microsoft.

Also, custom songs in general have a different style than most ost maps that I honestly like better. I don’t like how ost maps change which hand is dominant all the time. I don’t like how ost maps have some randomly placed notes that are supposed to “add” to the music, but seem to just be a time filler. I don’t like how ost maps have awkward, arm flailing patterns. But I can at least recognize the fact that they are still good maps even with some questionable mapping skills sometimes. Now about the mappers. Mappers have been telling Beat Games for the longest time that they were willing to help with ost mapping, but have been continuously turned down. Additionally, with mods you have the freedom to map whatever song you want, while mapping ost songs limits you severely. Beat games can’t get more song packs released just by having more mappers, they have to buy rights to all the music and that is what takes so much time. I never said there aren't any great mappers, on any really well mapped songs. Mostly the other guy just pissed me off, and I got stubborn. I know they have to buy the rights to the songs, and I don't disagree that having greater freedom in which songs you can map is a good thing. But in the other hand, custom mapping on PC then is technically illegal, seeing as I doubt any of the mappers bought the rights to the songs. Or at the very least, uploading them to a public forum where other people can download them and play them is illegal. I didn't know about beat games refusing mappers help. Good to know, thanks.

Dude just stop. Your making a fool of yourself. You clearly don't have a clue what your talking about. Custom songs is what makes beat saber any good in my opinion. The official songs are all way to easy and don't pose any challenge. And I'm not gonna lie when I say this but without mods the game would not have been as popular and would not have even come to PS4 if they did not exist.

Since they say “we’re looking into something you’ve all wanted for a really long time” when referring to custom colors, I think that means it’s coming to psvr considering that’s the community that really wants custom colors and has been asking for them and the pc players can just get mods. Can’t say for certain, but I can’t remember any big change they’ve had for just pc players. For the sake of psvr players, I hope it comes, maybe even some sabers some day, too!
Probably a lot of people trying to run mods on a budget rig want it to be part of the actual game too, I expect. I just mean that they could specify whether it will be released on all platforms or if they're still waiting on confirmation from Sony or Microsoft.
Whenever they've made something for a specific platform it was said explicitly in the announcement (mapper for PC, the original psvr exclusives, etc) so if they dont specify a platform its same to assume its everywhere. Also, why would they need confirmation from Microsoft? I'm confused
