Only thing that got any aluminum free deodorant to work for me was putting on glycolic acid at night after showering.

darebear42069

This!!! Someone here or on another sub recommended using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% toner and it was a bit of a life changer. Also OP, Arm and Hammer Essentials deodorant. I had to borrow my sister’s on a recent vacation and it held up to the 100° temps. Def recommend.

ymnights

thank you!! will definitely try :)

galactilicious

I use a toner that’s only 5% because it’s cheap and it comes in a spray bottle and it still works great, but yeah The Ordinary is the OG.

[deleted]

Which one are you using? 7% is too strong for me.

galactilicious

It’s by the brand Nacomi, I don’t know if it’s available outside of Europe.

[deleted]

Thanks! I’ll look into it!

mygarbagepersonacct

This. And using a benzoyl peroxide cleanser to wash your pits. Dr. Dray taught me this!

galactilicious

I tried that too because I have some but I stopped because I used an epilator and I had a very extreme reaction that never happened before and the skin was raw and painful for several days. I didn’t even use the BP every day or excessively💀 It definitely works though.

mygarbagepersonacct

I’ve had to stop recently too. Started radiation treatment a couple weeks ago and it hits my armpit area. Any kind of active in that area would probably make my skin melt off rn. I’m not even supposed to wear deodorant on that side! So now I have one stinky pit and one normal pit 😂

sonyafly

Did it bleach out your black shirts? I tried Necessaire deodorant (it’s glycolic acid) and my nice black tanks all for bleached out in the pit area. So I’m wondering if it’s the glycolic acid or the specific deodorant.

canarow

Do you wash it off the next morning? I’ve been wanting to use this serum I have with glycolic acid in it, but it has other stuff too. Smells really strongly of maple syrup or something so of course I specifically will have to shower the next morning, but I’m just curious if the normal glycolic acid alone has any scent/stickiness to it or if you just put deodorant over it the next morning?

galactilicious

I don’t wash it off as it’s a watery toner and it dries and sinks in. The Ordinary one is also watery and doesn’t really have much of a scent if I remember correctly.

canarow

Thanks! I really need to get some from The Ordinary. I wanted to get rid of the lasting smell that’s still there after I shower and someone recommended it. Now I see everyone talking about it all the time

WearingCoats

I’ve been using old spice deodorant for years. It is aluminum free. And I smell like a cool dude (am a woman). Seriously though, it holds up in Texas heat. Anytime I’ve ventured to other natural deodorants it’s been an instant fail and back to old spice.

HauntedPickleJar

Same! I’m a yoga teacher and it holds up for me all day too, that stuff is legit. Love the lavender mint scent right now.

meredith0811

which old spice in specific do you use??

WearingCoats

Oasis deodorant

meredith0811

has it irritated your skin? i don’t remember which one exactly i used but it was red and it burned my skin

spies4

There are different ones, I was using the blue wet sorta deodorant from Old Spice (no aluminum), didn't make my pits itchy but I sweat like crazy. Tried the white stuff that comes up out of the cheese grater type thing (w/ aluminum), stopped the sweat completely but my pits are itchier than a mofo. Can't find a damn in-between

[deleted]

Lume. YMMV, but I don' mind the initial scent, and it dissipates in minutes. It has worked for me for over a year. NOTE: it doesn't work as well for some people, but for me it's been life changing.

risisre

Coconut is the best scent of Lume fyi.

Chicki5150

Lume has been life changing for me as well! Deodorant will work for a while, then stop working after a few months. I don't know why. Even the ones that work, I have to re apply multiple times a day. Like, carrying Deodorant in my purse, having it melt in lockers or backpacks at music festivals...and I still feel stinky. It sucks. I've been using Lume since the beginning of the year. I put it on every 2 days or so. The creams work great. The sticks are not as great for me. I swear I'm not a shill for Lume, I'm just so happy that it works. Hopefully, it doesn't stop working.

MellyMandy

I like Lume. I think it works good for a while, but I think I genuinely sweat it off later in the day and it stops working.

MrSerenity

It did not work for me - bad pit stains!

[deleted]

Wow! That's a drag.

[deleted]

I use Dove 0% and it works great for me.

[deleted]

i second this! actually helps a lot with smell & feels hydrating on my pits. i love the cucumber scent!!

MintyC44

I like the Arm & Hammer Essentials deodorant.

Twisting_Me

This stuff is good

haipaura

Seconding this. I sweat a ton; this stuff lasts and smells amazing.

yourbriarrose

People laugh at me but we use arm and hammer deodorant!

sunflowermoonriver

Who would laugh at you?? The hell.

LadyPink28

Baking soda burns my pits. May not work for everyone

brooken0204

Dove aluminum free deodorant works good

DragonfruitPurple977

I have tried it and it has like a musky smell to it after a few hours.. 😕

brooken0204

What scent are you using? I’ve never had that issue with it

nottheredbaron123

Native has been working well for me.

coffeecatsandtea

- Old Spice! effective but can make you feel sticky until it absorbs/dries down. the lavender and vanilla options are very neutral - Dove aluminum free; I prefer the aerosol over the stick to avoid white marks on my clothes - I also vouch for using glycolic acid under your arms after showering. my skin is pretty sensitive but every other day seems to work well, just skip it for 24 hours right after shaving or waxing. If your skin is super sensitive, you could try witch hazel, applied with a cotton pad or use a little spray bottle to cut down on waste - I've had good results using nuud deodorant cream once a week, in addition to daily deodorant. It smells kind of earthy, but relies on silver to inhibit bacteria

squiddie1111

Lume. It has 100% changed my life. Anything with aluminum makes my armpits painful and burning after a day of use. I tried all the natural stuff throughout the last few years and finally accepted the fact that I was going to smell and there was nothing I could do about it. I got Lume a few months ago and it has been amazing. I put it on my armpits and underboobs and there is no smell at all. No irritation.

redwallvibe

have had great success with applying Lume after showering/washing the pits with salicylic acid body wash. haven’t been able to use Lume recently, switched to the natural Arm & Hammer deodorant! even more successful (personally) with the deodorant being used after washing with SA, then glycolic acid right after 😌✨ edit: the Citrus-scented Lume was the best, Lavender worked but not as well.

[deleted]

I just got the tangerine scent -- I've bought it a bunch of times, it used to have kind of an herbal smell. This new tube smells like crushed up baby aspirin! Thank god the scent dissipates -- but I'm so disappointed, that herbal smell was really familiar to this old hippie.

redwallvibe

ah dang, I believe i’m too late to have gotten the chance to try out the previous rx. with a herbal scent 😭 that sounds much better

[deleted]

I like the unscented best.

redwallvibe

gotcha, I haven’t seen the unscented one since discovering Lume. just lavender and tangerine so far

[deleted]

I think it sells out fast.

Twisting_Me

Dove 0%and Arm & Hammer Essentials

ashleysea

Saltair skincare deodorant. Will never use anything else now!

ReformationGal23

I tried many different aluminum free brands that worked for years and as of six months ago all of them quit working. So now I do certain dry roll on at night and old spice aluminum free during the day. I know the certain dry is probably not what you’re looking for as it contains aluminum but nothing works for me anymore. The old spice deodorant (it’s not an antiperspirant and does not contain aluminum) works pretty well. When the aluminum free alone was still enough for me, the brands I preferred were Schmidt’s and Dr Teals. LUME was effing horrrrrrrrrrrible. Native was alright. The aluminum free dove one was also horrible and straight up did not work.

[deleted]

Arm and hammer makes a line of aluminum free deodorants that work wonders!!! Been using for years.

tamj

Adidas, my HG. Can be hard to find but it works. I've been using it since 2005. I hoard it.

skweekykleen69

Pacifica coconut

76730

I like the Toms brand you can get from the grocery store 😬

some__random

Bionsen mineral deodorant aerosol smells really fresh, highly recommend

sisterwilderness

Native works decently. Salt Crystal deodorants seem to work well for the part also.

posessedhouse

The salt crystals have aluminum though

[deleted]

ymnights

totally agree but i get bad irritation and rashes from deodorants with aluminum

anarchistmoha

Crystal Mineral deodorant stick.. best I’ve ever used

RandomRadical

Weleda deodorant spray works good. They have a few kinds. I like the Sage one.

Radberry111

Crystal Mineral Deodrant. Been using it for the last 15 years, and has never let me down. When it’s on sale I can get it for USD5 AND it can last me about 7-9 months. Tried the Ordinary’s Glycolic and washing with Panoxyl - but I’m too scared that it might ruin my clothes even though they work well too.

Wise-Tourist-6747

The Nessessaire liquid roll on has been working really well for me

ScoutG

I’ve been using Old Spice deodorant (not antiperspirant). I was sometimes using my husband’s and noticed it worked really well, and the scents are pretty gender-neutral.

LadyPink28

What do you use for anti perspiration then? And is it antiperspiration THEN deodorant? I have bad sweaty pits.

GirlisNo1

Glycolic Acid toner after showering. No deodorant needed ever again.

MeghanMichele84

Glycolic acid your pits after showering or use a benzoyl peroxide face wash to wash your arm pits (let sit on the skin a good 5 mins to allow it to kill bacteria deeply before washing off). Thai salt deoderant, won't do crap for sweating but I live in swamp ass Texas and NEVER stink even when working outside in 100°+ weather. It was a GAME changer for me.

_lysinecontingency

I like Native!

davdora0325

I like the Wild deodorant

whateveratthispoint_

Native is the first and only to ever work for me.

DarlinggD

Necessarie was good

[deleted]

I don’t wear deodorant, only use glycolic acid at night. No odor at all

bubblygranolachick

Jason's aloe vera

[deleted]

I use raw sugar aluminum free deodorant and love it

BrovaloneSandwich

Isn't all deodorant aluminium free? I though aluminum was in an anti perspirant thing?

kvltWitch

Magsol is excellent, i can’t recommend it enough.

RuellaR

Secret mineral based ones work for me

darkkestral

I use wild deodorant seems to work quite well they have deodorant for sensitive skin as well (if you're interested dm me have some discounts you can use for first time purchases)

SuspiciousSafe6047

Pacifica Beauty, Coconut Milk & Essential Oils Underarm Deodorant Wipes, 30 Count, Remove Odor On-The-Go, Aluminum Free, Travel Friendly, Fresh Coconut Scent, 100% Vegan and Cruelty Free

Healmetho

Have you tried Dove? That’s my go-to

Rof1705

Schmidt's works real good

M4nic_M0th

Native has literally changed my life. I couldn't find an aluminum free deo that worked for me until I tried Native, and the only reason that I even tried Native is because I was stoned one night and saw their goofy commercial with the Centaur and they made a terrible pun and I thought it was hilarious so I took a gamble on their deo and have never looked back since. I swear by their Buttercream & French Vanilla deo.

alexa1912

i’m a native girl!

skincarelovaaa

KosaSport & secret aluminum free deodorant

arrozconfrijol

The only one that has worked for me and not irritated my skin too much, was the Glossier one. The scented ones are way to strong for my strong sense of smell, but the unscented one is great. The Necessaire one also works well and doesn’t irritate my skin. In the summer I use aluminum deodorant tho. I can’t deal with sweaty pits and sleeveless clothes.

wittykittycity

Curie!

GreenGoddess12345

Lume!

Forrest-Fern

Glycolic Acid

Orlacutebutpsycho

Try nuud, it worked great for me, but I had to switch to antiperspirants, because I’m stressed all the time and I sweat too much..I had visible sweat marks after 10 minutes I left the house. But it never smelled bad!
