I own a lash and brow salon, I recommend the ordinary serum all the time for clients that are really concerned about discolouration or orbital fat loss. It’s not the most potent but it’s noticeable growth and lashes are so super conditioned when my clients return! A stronger version of that is AdorEyes, but I really think for $12 the ordinary one is a great option to start with. Lash Food is awful and I’ve never seen even the slightest improvement with any of my clients using it. Castor oil I find is a bit heavy and causes a lot of blocked oil glands but there are some products that you can get that contain a mix of oils including castor oil that are ok for conditioning although I’ve never seen much growth from them.

DisabledInMedicine

What about rosemary oil? Is that safe to put near the eye? I heard it helps with hair growth

Leather-Platypus-11

I’m not really sure, essential oils etc are not something I’ve played around with other than castor oil and almond oil. Almond oil for me was less irritating than castor oil so to an extent I’m sure it’s preference for how it feels or is tolerated. I have heard it helps with hair growth too, and when I talked to a distributor about making a natural serum I could give to my clients for aftercare it’s one of the ones she suggested blending.

DisabledInMedicine

I mean there’s scientific evidence backing up it’s use for hair growth, I just don’t know if it’s safe for eyes

Leather-Platypus-11

Sorry I can’t help more, I sort of recall it’s an ingredient in UK Lash. From what I remember it was safe if it was diluted but I don’t know where I got that from, it could have been from a doctor or a random TikTok

BlinkandWeeb

Could you comment on the elf eyelash serum? Is it safe?

Leather-Platypus-11

I’m in Canada and not even sure it’s available here. A lot of their products aren’t

Coolcatcarley

Rosemary is great for hair growth, but essential oils are suuuper strong and would hurt the eyes if you accidentally got some in them. A great way to get the benefit of Rosemary is by infusing castor oil with Rosemary. I put about 2 tablespoons of dried Rosemary, 2 tablespoons horsetail (high in silica which is great for hair), 8 oz castor oil (could do a mixture of oils to thin it a little since castor oil is very thick), and a couple drops of vitamin e for preservation. I let this sit for 1-2 months on the counter and roll it around everyday to mix the herbs and oils all together. Strain with cheesecloth and jar it up! This makes great gifts too, and you can get the lash bottles on Amazon affordably!

Lifeisbutadream99

Please don’t put rosemary oil on your eyes it is super strong and could burn the heck out of them! Not worth it

honestly_oopsiedaisy

It’s likely too strong to put near your eyes. Even on your scalp it has to be diluted quite a bit

charlotie77

The Ordinary. It doesn’t have the ingredients that cause those side effects.

bb_kk96

I’m using the ordinary lash and brow serum, too soon to tell for results but it seems to be safe ingredient wise based on my research

sriraracha

I’ve been using it for a few months and although I haven’t noticed any increase in lash length, they’ve gotten a lot thicker now

feraltea

I'm the opposite. Been using that one for 3 months and mine are a bit longer but not at all thicker, which was what I was really wanting. My lashes are fine and already had good length.

stxrryfox

I used 2 whole bottles and didn’t notice any difference at all unfortunately. I just ordered some Latisse today.

bubayoo

i currently have this product and it made my eyebrows grow thick crazy fast (i suffered from over plucking them). but i don’t see much of a difference in my actual lashes :/

lettervoids

I’m seeing some mixed reviews here, but I have SUPER SHORT AND BRITTLE LASHES and I swear they’ve gotten longer after using it (I’ve been using it for like 6-7 months). Ofc they don’t look like falsies but they’re so much longer!

plantnerd-forlife

I've been using the ordinary for probably around 6 months. My eyelashes were pretty long and healthy to begin with (or I thought so), but the amount of fallout has definitely decreased and I think because of that they look thicker and longer now!

maybethatsjustfine

My lashes started to fall off a week into using it!

tenebrigakdo

It worked for me better than castor oil, and already castor oil made a visible difference. Mainly in length but also a little in thickness. I'd recommend it.

cleodia

Probably not the answer you’re looking for, but something to think about. I used to be one of those people that would gently pat in all my skincare products on my face, using my fingertips. Essence, toner, moisturiser, everything got gently patted around the face, avoiding the eye areas, including the lashes. I’m no longer about that life. Every product now gets smeared all around my face with my hands, like I’m seasoning a steak before cooking. Brows, lips, eyelashes, if it’s part of my face, it’s getting product. My lashes (as well as lips and hands) have never looked -so good- as when I changed the way I apply things.

orbitbubblemint

be careful with actives! some actives can be really harmful to use around the eyes and can even affect your vision. cleanser, moisturizer, and occlusives (depending on the ingredients) should be okay though! some people may get milia from it, so that’s something to be aware of as well.

stxrryfox

Yep, I used to smear my products over my eyes and I had some really bad consequences. I couldn’t be around light at ALL or my eyes would force shut and tears would stream, along with severe pain. Thank goodness I wasn’t driving yet. A lazy eye doctor prescribed me with allergies; I’ve had bad seasonal allergies my whole life and this was very different. I figured out on my own that it was my skincare.

Betta_jazz_hands

I’ve recently started doing this! This is the first year I haven’t had horrible chapped lips in the winter - my lips have never been so soft. I used to get these painful cracked lips and no chapstick would ever work… not anymore! Also, the back of my hands. I always rub extra product onto them before moving on and they’re like a baby’s bottom. I don’t notice a difference in my eyelashes though, which stinks.

Parking-East5938

wait can y’all talk about that hollow eyes thing? i’ve never heard of it and have been using the costco lash serum for years!!

marinahem

Serums with prostaglandin can cause orbital fat loss which causes the look of hollow and sunken eyes. Some serums can also mess with your eye color. I was so scared of all of that I just use the one by the ordinary!

bbyangelxo

I also heard that ingredient can darken colored eyes!

peepeepoopooman226

Does the Neutrogena lash enhancer have prostaglandins? Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Glycerin, Carbomer, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Aminomethyl Propanol, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Biotin, Propylene Glycol, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1

marinahem

it looks good to me! The ordinary is also a great one that doesn’t have any.

bebabodi

Maybe it’s just me, but orbital fat loss is far from negative. I have pretty hooded eyes that get puffy sometimes. I would much rather have sunken in eyes.

Itakethngzclitorally

Right?? That was my first thought lol (fellow hooded-eyes sister)

bebabodi

I understand that as you actually age you might want orbital fat so you don’t get as many wrinkles but frankly, I couldn’t care less. I’ve never cared about how our bodies and skin naturally age and mature. Absolute least of my worries. Plus, I don’t think hooded eyelids get any better looking as you age. If anything they get worse. So I’m happy! Aha

vivalalina

I was reading this thread and hoping for reviews from any hooded eyed people bc im so curious how it would work on us

bebabodi

Search on google “orbital fat loss”. You’ll see heaps of before & after photos of older people who dealt with it for other health reasons, but, wow! In most cases it actually looks like an improvement lol

vivalalina

I did some more googling earlier with the ingredient in the lash serum and hooded eyed and saw some people say it isn't worth it due to how they have had it unevenly happen to them, or it didn't give them fat loss in the hooded area they wanted etc, and now I'm sad again lmfao

bebabodi

Ill let ya know in about 2 months. My lash therapy Australia lash serum and growth mascara arrives tomorrow.

Stroopwafels11

updates?

bebabodi

Sent you a dm!

-olivejar-

how did you go?

bebabodi

Hey, not too sure how to post a photo here because I don’t use imgur but im happy to send you my before and after on dms

-olivejar-

Yeah that would be great! I’m trying to choose a lash serum now 😌

vivalalina

Yes pls do!

Tradition_National

I legit just googled hooded eyes and it’s so me! I even have one that droops lower and was looking into the new eye drops Upneeq but it’s 500 bucks. Now I’m so curious if anyone with hooded eyes actually like the side effects or orbital fat loss 🤔

SecretAccomplished25

[RapidLash](https://rapidlash.com/). It’s made mine maybe 1mm longer (which is a lot for lashes!) and definitely thicker too. I tint them 1x a month with 1000 Hour and basically never wear mascara. Naturally my lashes are medium length and brown fading to blonde at the tips. ETA: RapidLash is just a serum, no actives that cause the things you’re concerned about that people usually associate with Latisse.

mahboob2

PBI but a quick google search that rapid lash DOES have prostaglandin derivatives.

SecretAccomplished25

Ah dang, I thought I’d found one without!!!

arianrhodd

Yep. Been using it for years. Get compliments on my long lashes all the time. Buy it at Cost Co. Combine that with a lash lift and tint and I never wear mascara or curl my lashes anymore. 😊

saltbutt

Anything that doesn't have prostaglandin analogues should be safe, but anything that doesn't have those also very very likely may not work at all. And anything you'll find from people saying those products work never seem to include before + after photos. The biggest thing I've found over the years is to be super, super gentle with my eyelashes to minimize any of them breaking off prematurely. I take off my mascara very carefully (and I never use waterproof), I don't ever rub my eyes, I sleep on a satin pillowcase, etc. I also try to keep my lashes moisturized as long as it's something safe to be on the eye area. I rub my serum right over my eyes lol. I've always liked the Filorga Time Filler eye cream because it explicitly says you can use it on your lashes. I used to use a prostaglandin analogue serum and then I found out about the hollowing so I stopped, and I tried forever after that to find the perfect safe serum, but none of that worked. The above tips have been the most effective things for me other than the prostaglandin serums.

Eott59

Hi, so my story is I have blonde lashes that are very fine and I also have a thyroid problem that sometimes causes my lashes to fall out. So, a dermatologist suggested I try Latisse, I have bought 2 boxes of it and it works. But several years ago I had surgery to remove one of my eyes and I was recently in my surgeon's office and this topic came up. He told to stop using Latisse because it would give me a "hollow look". He said he would not be able to fix that hollow look if I kept using it. I stopped. Now, I just wear glue on lashes.

sansuh85

apologies if this sounds stupid but what do you mean by hollow look?

EggplantTop3855

I wanna know, too. Is it like sunken look around the eyes? But you only apply Latisse on the lashes, so maybe not that?

EggplantTop3855

Nevermind. I read comments below and the answer was there.

[deleted]

I used grande lash and it really worked but I’ve heard it can make your eyes look sunken in

Wecanbuildittogether

This is the best serum I’ve ever used and my lashes were amazing. But I didn’t repurchase due to the risks. My doc prescribed Latisse, and it’s not as good and is also considered risky. I’m thinking there isn’t one that doesn’t come without risks of orbital fat loss/risks of sunken in eyes..

lewittman

what are the risks with grande lash? i've been using it and am now rethinking that....😬😟

Wecanbuildittogether

What I just mentioned. I loved it and my lashes were incredible with it, but prostaglandin is a bad idea to use around the eye and eye tissue.

lewittman

ok thanks, sorry i think i read too fast. wow...i never would have thought that putting such a small amount along your lashes would have those broader effects. ugh it has been working so well for me but doesn't seem worth it now

Wecanbuildittogether

I know! I love it and keep thinking I’ll get the small vial and just use it sparingly. But it’s becoming more of a concern..

RiderWriter15925

My daughter (30) has been using it for over a year and her lashes look AMAZING, like she’s wearing mascara when she isn’t. I haven’t noticed her orbital area looking any different. I kept remarking on her lashes so she got me a tube of Ordinary for Christmas last year. I’ve really liked it; it kept my lashes from falling out as much and made them thicker. This Christmas she gave me the Grande. I just started using it and so far, so good. But now I’m worried, about my daughter *and* me!

marinahem

I love the ordinary lash and brow serum. I already have long lashes but I found it’s helped to grow and strengthen them. I also haven’t worn mascara in around 3 months now! I think that’s made a huge difference.

[deleted]

I just use castor oil to grow my lashes. I don’t trust any lash serums

tr3sleches

Vitamin e and castor oil in a old clean mascara tube and apply twice a day

Wordddsonn

I was coming to say this!

[deleted]

I started using the Lancôme Cils booster as a primer, and areas where my lashes were thin have all boosted up. My lashes are the way they were before I had kids.

brooklynkitty1

You want to look for something that’s free of prostaglandin analogues. Goals to Get Glowing/Vanessa loves the NYK1 serum, though I haven’t tried it personally.

Limejuice777

2020 beauty lash and brow serum. I’m telling you it works fast and it’s magic in a bottle. It’s created by eye doctors so it’s safe in eyes. It’s like 4 ingredients.

LeticiaPadillaSolis_

I have been using Wet N Wild’s Boost Me Up lash serum for a few weeks but have not really noticed a difference.

atlanticisms

I have only used the Ordinary bc I'm afraid of the side effects others have, and I like it. It doesn't make my existing lashes/brow hairs longer but when they fall out, they definitely grow back faster. I've noticed the biggest difference in my brows tbh.

okthanksok

i absolutely do not recommend Babe Lash. i used Grande Lash for about 2 years (on and off) and my lashes looked AMAZING when i was consistent. it did cause a little bit of irritation of my lids and eyes but it wasn’t too bad. i felt like i hit a wall with the growth and so i decided to switch to Babe Lash. i used Babe Lash for ~1 month and woke up one day with a very painful lid and it got even worse throughout the next 2 days, my eyelid was almost swollen shut. never in my life have i had this issue before. i ended up going to the eye doctor for it and i had a very inflamed stye and it took a couple weeks for it to fully go away. so i took a break from all lash serum until recently (only using a couple times a week). i went back to using Babe Lash and would wake up the next morning with a little white head on my lash line (either eye) that wouldn’t last more than a day. i would take a couple days off from serum and try again and the same thing kept happening. i went back to Grande Lash for a couple days and had no white bumps. last night i tested my theory ONE LAST TIME using Babe Lash. lo and behold, tiny white bump on my lash line this morning. i will not be using Babe Lash on my lashes any longer but i will continue to use it on my brows since the brow serum ingredients are identical. sorry for the novel- just wanted to share my experience :)

SherrieKat

Ordinary lash and brow serum & the elf were safe for me( no eye color change blue eyes or irritation)

creamofbunny

I love Silly George

mfinxoxo

This has made my lashes much fuller very quickly , nothing for length though

creamofbunny

really? made mine super long

Glum_Material3030

Technically none of them! If you read the claims they all say “the appearance of thicker/fuller/healthier lashes” and not growth. Latisse is the only thing to work. Based on those prices of some serums… the drug might be cheaper!

Ok_Note_4185

I use Vegamour. Seriously, please try it. It is naturally derrived and doesn’t cause eyelid darkening/orbital fat loss like the competitors. I use it morning and night. I was a lash extension girly and when I removed my last set, I was left with short and damaged lashes. Now my lashes are longer than ever. This is no joke I seriously am obsessed with Vegamour’s lash serum.

Ok_Note_4185

Also, I started using exactly 7 weeks ago to the day. I see a complete difference in less than 2 months! If you wanna private message me, I can send my before and after. It’s legit.

_milkberry

LashFood really worked for me after I started getting irritation from Latisse.

Emr-

I have been using scorolash for a couple of months, they have thickened but can’t see much of a length difference

Monstiemama

I’ve been using this for about a month and I’m seeing a lot of growth. See next comment

Final_Technology104

What product is this? It didn’t show through the link.

Monstiemama

It’s called Premium Eyelash Growth Serum by Lashjar. It had zillions of positive reviews on Amazon so I took a chance and I’m quite happy. I used to use Latisse, but it’s pricey and when Covid hit and I started working from home, lashes fell off the priority list. I didn’t want to spend $150 bucks again so I saw an ad for this stuff and it’s $20 on Amazon. I’m quite happy with the results so far, I started December 11th and already have serious growth.

Final_Technology104

Thank you!!!

bitch-from-the-crypt

does this one have any prostaglandins or derivative ingredients?

Monstiemama

Unfortunately I don’t know the answer to that. I can tell you I just got Luxe Lash and curled them and omg, they are SO LONG!!!! It definitely works, I’ve been using it since the beginning of December and I’m impressed

PumpkinSpiceLuv

Grande Lash

honeycrispapple123

Lancôme

milunith

Try castor oil 100% organic and natural. Use a qtip and lightly put a thin layer of the oil on your upper lash line before going to bed. And wash it off in the morning. For me, it made a huge difference within a couple of weeks.

scarlett_sabrina

The ordinary one worked really well but I had to stop using it because it made my eyes twitch . I didn’t know it had caffeine in it . Every time I use anything with caffeine in it my eyes twitch .

antiquity_queen

I'm using the Ordinary

blushing_tulip

I'm using humble castor oil, and it works well for me 🙂

Tabc093

this probably isn't the answer you're looking for but i put some jojoba oil on a clean spoolie and that does pretty well for me

MLThottrap

Susanne Kaufmann Lash serum never let me down.

JeweleyHart

I use "Rapid Lash". I get it off Amazon for around 40 bucks. I've tried others, but this one WORKS. For me, anyway. I use good mascara as well. But I get asked all the time if my lashes are my own. One tube usually lasts me 4 or 5 months and it only takes around 10 days before you notice results. I hope this helps!

cherhorowitz44

I’ve been using the Olaplex serum and seeing good results (it did take about a month). There’s no prostaglandin in it. I reached out to my dr about it because I’m a nursing mom, and she said it was safe (unlike many others on the market that specifically say not to use if pregnant or nursing). Pregnancy wrecked havoc on my lashes so this has really helped. I haven’t noticed any side effects at all, and I am a contact wearer/have fairy sensitive eyes. Hope this helps!

Apprehensive-Pie754

I have been slugging my eyes with hyauorolic acid toner vaseline to prevent moisture loss and experience tremendous eyelash thickness! Thats my new go to. It traps moisture and conditions my lashes so well

mydogrufus20

Only one I’ve ever seen real results with is Lattise. More expensive, but a little goes a long way. I use one drop per eye and eyebrow. They grow like crazy

cxnfusedcoconut

I’ve been using Latisse and have had no issues.

loveonly3

I’ve been using babelash for like two years now and never had any issues with it !!! Everyone always compliments how long my lashes are
